Hello Doormat Set To The Beat Of Some Odd Scenes

I'm immediately stricken by the doormat FMC & a rather odd storyline here.

Julia...

We meet Julia as her ex, Derek, has appeared to rekindle their relationship following him cheating on her. FMC is lonely and agrees to meet him for drinks. While she does muse that she might just toy with and discard him, she also is naively hopeful of changing his manho ways. She blames loneliness on her doormat behavior.

As a reader, I'm not too thrilled because I don't do well with doormats, lonely or not.

Enter the weird...

She spies an alley cat. She's lonely, ponders the cat being a bedmate to ease her loneliness, and eventually returns her thoughts to hopefulness that Derek is changed and will fill said lonely spot.

Still, she goes in search of the cat in the alley to bring him to a pet store or some BS. She goes all nutso ... Like going in heat while being a nervous afraid mess while pondering rats and smells of saffron. She runs back in & goes to meet Derek. The scene was weird, and not in a suspenseful kinda way; weird in the...

description

Anyway...

She finds Derek with the waitress in his lap and lipstick on his shirt.

description

What really irritates me is that the author makes this chick the most TSTL dumb-dumb doormat ever. The waitress gets the better of her verbally and mentally, and I'm actually cheering for the waitress because the FMC is stupid enough to walk right into it...

"Just keeping him warm for you," she said. "Climb on. His lap feels just fine."

"I know," Julia said. "I had him first."

"Huh. But he was still up for something different. Doesn't say too much for you."

The girl twirled a lock of her hair around her finger as she pranced off, and Derek tried to take hold of Julia's arms as she shoved him back with a sneer.

Little did I know that^^^ would be the most intelligent dialogue I would read in this book.. kinda like you know shit is bad if...

description

... Is the smartest person in the room.

Meet The Male MC

FMC storms out. Cue an almost rape scene / damsel in distress call for the MMC to make an intro. He's the hero & she's all but in heat again over his saffron smell.

Ehh, Meh, But I'd Trudge On If Not For The F'd Up Dialogue

The dialogue is nonsensical, awkward, stilted, and drowned by even more nonsense in the narration.

I cut out all the narration fluff so you could see a purely he said, she said exchange that takes place over ten pages ...

"Never miss a chance to help a damsel in distress."

"That's not me." "Not everyday."

"So just a little around the edges tonight?"

"I... He's an old habit. Think I might have finally kicked it."

"Best thing I've heard all day. And I've seen so many things." "So what's next for you on the start of the first day of the rest of your life?"

"What do they say? One step at a time?"

"I've heard that." "Would you like a little company for the first few steps?"

"So you're going to be like my personal bodyguard tonight?"

"Longer if you let me. But one step at a time."

"Saffron." " I like that." (The way he smells)

"Good because I like you." "I think we should be on more familiar terms though. Don't you?"

"Might make for a nicer night." "You go first."

"You're not shy are you?"

"Are you scared to tell me who you really are?"

"Not at all. I'm Rex."

"Are you for real?" "Or did you just come up with that on the spot?"

"Would I lie?"

"Does that name work for you?"

"Latin for king." "Don't I look like I've done alright."

"Still doesn't make it real."

"Well let's solve that problem right now."

So, yeah, this is like dime store stuff that doesn't even make sense.

It Just Isn't Getting Better

Every piece of dialogue is like the above -disjointed, disconnected, odd, and nonsensical.

He calls a driver to bring his Jag to pick them up from the alley *yes, I'm laughing.*
From there, we have some more weird as hell dialogue...

***She felt Rex's eyes lingering on her legs, and she started to hide her knees under her skirt when he clicked his tongue and she fell still.****

"Thought you said this was just a drink."

"Can't help but want to look. Those legs..."

**** she lifted her skirt a little higher to show more of her skin as his smile burned brighter.***

"Just that's enough. And if we get to that place of more..." "Tell me what you're feeling."

"I'm feeling too much."

It's not only weird, mismatched shit like that between the characters... It's also just random dialogue that don't match the scene.

He "kept her close as they raced toward the top floor." They get off an elevator to enter his apt and she just randomly says,

"So I'm just a bug to you now?"

Huh? Wtf? Where did that come from? What did it even mean?

Thanks, But No~

I appreciate the offer, but I'm going to have to call this quits at 28%. I refuse to read pieced together dialogue when I a) don't like one character and don't even know the other by over a 1/4 into the book and b) am seeing nothing resembling a plot here.

The technical grammar elements aren't atrocious (at least in comparison to the rest,) and that's the ONLY good thing I can say. His/ her are not interchangeable FYI;) But, at least the sentence structure itself is okay for the most part.

This entire storyline, character development, dialogue, and narration - basically the entire book - needs to be completely remodeled to where the reader can at the very least understand it.

I was offered this book in exchange for a review. Ok so this is a low rating for me but it had nothing to do with the authors writing which was in fact very good, the writing flowed well and I didn't notice any editing issues. I was actually surprised this book was written as well as it was because a lot of authors that write books similar to this (shifter books of novella length) tend to be fairly average (in my opinion) and I have found only a few that do a good job. So onto what I didn't like which was the story over all it moved a bit fast and I would have liked a little more story in the beginning and I don't think Derek should have been mentioned in the synopsis seeing how he played a very minor role in the story. I wasn't a fan of the story but it was easy enough for me to read because it was well written and of novella length. The other issue I had was when the book came to a climax there was a lot going on with the Harris character which made it a little confusing to me trying to work out what was actually happening. The final thing I disliked and I thought maybe there should be a warning in the synopsis was due to the scene of beastiality which I'm sure a lot of readers are like me and not interested in reading it. Apart from that I may give a book by this writer a chance after reading this one because they clearly have some talent but it would have to be a cheap read for me to give it a shot in case I wasn't a fan of the story.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review...

This was my first book by this author and while I feel the story had some potential, sadly I was not impressed. First and foremost, while first delving into this read it's glaringly obvious all of the grammatical errors, which wouldn't be so bad if there weren't so many of them. They just continue throughout the entire book and it's quite distracting to the reader, especially since the words 'his' and 'her' are not interchangeable.

In any case, I also always find it quite distasteful when a female goes off with a complete stranger who she finds sexually attractive literally minutes after being physically attacked and almost raped. It's just wrong on so many levels but I've come to accept that the female mind does cope with trauma in many different ways, this just happens to be one of them, wierd as it may seem. Julia seemed like a bit of a pushover,  I mean you caught your man in bed with another woman, how stupid could you be to want to give him another chance?

The story itself doesn't really seem to flow for me as far as explanations go. It was a bit choppy and confusing at times. Rex says he had to take Emily's place and he only shifts when he's aroused but he had sex with Julia in human form; with the exception of the beginning of chapter 12 which was a bit if not a whole lot of disturbing b/c that should not be humanly possible, it's just noooooooo......I didn't understand his explanation about his shifting.

Overall, I really did want to like this story but it was just to strange and confusing. Plus the whole insta-love scenarios always drive me insane, they're just to cheesy and fake. Rex and Julia were perfect examples as they didn't compliment each other in any way, he seemed like a deranged stalker and she a confused freak...let's face it..the woman was kinky as hell and not in the sexy way!

I read some reviews before reading this book so I thought maybe some people might be a little harsh. Nope. Spot on. This story was pretty ridiculous and way too fast. Disturbing, under developed, and confusing are three words that can be used to describe it. Everything that happened in this book was all in the span of less than two days it seemed. I was surprised by the bestiality part of this book that happened at least two times. I say at least because there are parts that you just have a hard time keeping up with in the story. Not my cup of tea.

In the beginning you are given the impression that Julia is a strong independent woman who was able to break away from a bad relationship. Only not long into the story, she is on the verge of getting back with the person who hurt her. When she gets to where they were supposed to meet, she sees that he is up to the same thing, with a waitress on his lap and lipstick on his collar. After she calls him out he gets embarrassed and manhandles her out in the alley, before she is rescued by the mysterious Rex. Rex comes off as strong, confident, and sexy as hell until they get to his home where he bounces between tender, crazy, and scary. After getting slapped around and almost raped by her ex she decides to go with the mysterious, but handsome stranger to his home for a drink!

That is where the story goes from OK to insane, and in a lot of instances confusing. If you like to read stories with forced sexual interactions, bestiality, kidnapping, a highly confused and irritating lead female character, and weak leading male, then I recommend you read this book!

Businesswoman Julia Monroe is saved from her lying ex by a mysterious stranger that she is unable to resist in this paranormal romance.

After spending a perfect night together, Julia is stunned to see Rex change nto a massive cat and the reader is pulled into this story as the events escalate from scorching passion to deadly violence as Julia and rex are confronted by the creatures that originally changed Rex. The characters are compelling and grab the reader’s attention in this fast paced plot full of suspense, excitement and romance while the intriguing events ensure that there is never a dull moment although some readers may find some of the events a bit disturbing.

I was caught up in the story from the beginning but unfortunately I was left feeling a bit perplexed regarding the nature of the shifters and why Harris had such a vendetta against Rex and I must warn you that the vendetta part gets pretty violent and there’s a sort of rape scene involved.

. This is the first book I have read of D.S. Sage. This book was definitely different then the other paranormal/shifter stories I have read. I am honestly not usually a person who won't finish reading a book I have already started but I know when it is finally time to give in....

This was my first book to read by D. S. Sage. I have to say it was a shocker for me. I have to say this and not in a necessarily bad way but this book to take me to some extent out of my comfort zone. The only reason I gave this book 4 stars is because at one point I thought there was too much going back and forth between locations and characters that the reader actually can get lost in what is going on (I did). But the contest and the plot of the book was good and thought out. I would recommend this book to others to read. Just be prepared for anything to happen. This book is for mature audiences 18 years or older.

Julia is trying to get over her ex boyfriend who broke her heart when she caught he with another woman. Then he suddenly appears wanting another chance as all men say "It was a one time thing, and I was wrong. I realize what I lost.' So she decides to meet him at a bar for drinks to talk and then catches him again with another woman in his lap and walks out after throwing his drink in his face. Derek not wanting no for an answer catches up to her in an ally and then he starts to rough her up, and then here comes a handsome stranger to her rescue.

Julia finds a Knight in Shining Armour in the fabulously sexy Rex. He calls for his limo in order to make sure she is safe and she is soon riding in his luxury car and is take to his very sleek condo. Julia finds that there is something about Rex that she can't resist and it doesn't take long for her to fall into Rex's arms. Nor does it take long for her to discover a passion that she has never known. Julia is totally shocked when Rex backs away from her when she is wanting more. then her fury is about to bubble over at the thought that she is being used. The shock of her life is when she discovers the dark truth of what Rex is possibly more than she can bare.

Everything starts coming to the light when Rex shifts into a lion right in front of her. For some reason Julia is drawn to the lion and then Rex tells her of the curse that is on him, and she suddenly starts to wondering if she is the only one who can save Rex from his horrible curse. It doesn't take Julia long to realizes that she up against darker forces than she imagined. Julia commits herself to Rex and he to her and then they have to fight the dark forces in order to free Rex. In this process Julia is captured by Harris the evil force, and Julia's own unexpected powers are brought to light. Julia risks everything to bring Rex back from the brink of death.

Julia and Rex soon realize that they have more in common with each other than they thought. Will Julia run and hide from the impending danger? Or will she give in and share Rex’s fate for all time?

I don't give spoilers and if you want to know what happens then I suggest you read the book. ARC free copy given for honest review.

I must warn you that this is different and there were several times I wanted to stop reading it. Its darker than I like to read. Its got things in it that really really push the envelope for me. There ought to be warnings for people before buying the book. It needs to be listed. Coercion is one of them. Bestiality is another. I guess no matter how you explain it...its a shifter in shifted form having sex with a human so you can label it however you like but it is what it is. Normally when reading about books under the blurb has warnings about whats in the books. This didnt have any warnings so color me shocked when I was reading the sex scene between a shifted lion and human. Jaw dropping right? There were some editing problems. He for she a few times. This book didnt flow well for me. I was confused quite a few times to be honest. I didnt really feel like it was a love story. I honestly felt like Rex was crazed half the time. He didnt make any sense to me mostly. Julia...she was just confused by everything. Towards the end of the book I had NO clue what she was even doing. It really was a strange book for me. Definitely not my thing. I've read dark romances before and although those aren't my favorite they make sense to me. This isn't a dark romance but more along the lines of strange. So many things thrown in the book and not necessarily followed through so plot holes. Now...mentioning the "regular" sex scenes they actually weren't written that well. They are very non-descriptive. I mean that I wasnt sure they were actually doing anything. I mean I figured it out when he "finished" but otherwise I didnt know. Ha. So, there is a lot of room for improvement in the writing. I'm not going to rate this badly but not awesome either. I see some rated this as good but nobody's actually left reviews. My opinion is one.

This is the first book by this author that I have read, and I can honestly say that it is very different from the normal paranormal book I have ever read. I say this not in a bad way, but be prepared for anything and everything. There is a darkness lurking in every page that will have you wondering what will happen during the next paragraph, let alone the next page or chapter. Packed full of violence, unrest, unusual occurrences, with a bit of steamy sex including a special form of bestiality perhaps, this story will have you on the edge of your seat and perhaps even checking under your bed before you fall asleep.
Julia is tired of being played, and all she wants is someone to hold her and cuddle during the long nights. After finding her ex in bed with another, she boots him to the curb. He's asking for a second chance. Feeling lonely, she agrees to meet him at the bar for a drink after work, only when she shows up early only to find him with a waitress on his lap being much too friendly, she shuns him once again, only this time he doesn't take too kindly to having it done publicly. He follows her out and corners her in an alley hitting her a couple of times, until a stranger comes to her rescue.
Rex has been following her, only she hasn't realized it yet. When he comes to her rescue, he sweeps her off her feet at the same time. Will he be the one to cuddle up to at night? Will she ever find her "Mr. Right"?
Rex has his own dark secrets and when she discovers them, will she run screaming? Will he ever find peace?
A great read even though I was confused a few times as the story seemed a bit rushed in places and kind of left me in the dust, but it was easy to pick up the jest of it and continue easily enough. A great short story, especially if you are looking for something totally different from the others.

This book is very different from any other shifter story that I've ever read. This story is definitely out there. I was expecting shifters and magic, but not in the way it was presented. So it started off fine and the normal woman scorned, macho man wanting what he screwed up and woman considering taking him back. She found her backbone and kicked him to the curb, which he couldn't handle and got violent on the verge of possibly killing her. Julia is saved by a handsome stranger, Rex, and decides to go home with him for a drink. Moving fast, they ended up in bed and Julia is convinced it's the best sex ever. Now is when Rex's shifter side appears. After this things get really strange. We're talking drugging her, kidnapping her, and confining her in a basement in the woods without an explanations. She is reduced to begging to find out what he is. I was put-off by his "Oh poor, pitiful me" attitude about HIS decision years ago to become a shifter. Then it gets stranger still when she wants to have sex with Rex's lion and he obliges. I had a hard time keeping things straight as it was somewhat disjointed and left holes for us to try to figure out what happened in between. If this is a first attempt at a novel, I'd say this writer needs a bit more experience in keeping the story flowing smoothly and find some additional proof readers. I would be willing to try another book by this author at a later date. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I received this for an honest review. This is the first book I have read of D.S. Sage. It was pretty good and interesting.

Julia Monroe was lonely and wanted a man. She wanted someone she could cuddle up with at night. She had not had much luck in that department. Her last idiot jerk boyfriend Derek Owens was a piece of work. She does not know how much until it is almost to late. Sorry you will have to read the book to find out.

Julia seemed to be interested in this cat that she kept seeing. She had hope to save it and take it home. It would be something she could cuddle up with. If she only knew that little cat’s secret.

Julia finds herself in some trouble. She is in danger and needs help. She does not look at herself as a weak woman but there are times it helps to have a man’s help and Rex was more then happy to give her a helping hand. Rex was like sex on wheels. He even had a smooth voice that was like silk.

Rex has a secret. He is cursed. He truly does not want Julia to find out his secret. What is the saying that curiosity killed the cat. Rex would of never dreamed that taking Julia would of put her life in more danger.

Julia has a lot to learn about Rex. He is a shifter and she is the only one that can save him. Soon that back fires and not only is her life in danger but so is Rex. Can they find a way out and save each other?

*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

This book was a bit farfetched and rushed to me. We begin reading this book with Julia. Julia has had bad luck with men, when a lying and cheating ex blasts from the past and wants a certain hand at revenge, he gets a little more than what he bargained for. We then meet the mysterious and aloof Rex. Rex sweeps Julia off her feet, but he's hiding a dangerous secret. A secret that has a sort of domino effect and could have a disastrous end.

I thought the writing was pretty good, but some of the scenes were debatable, and I would advise for people with open minds. Julia didn't seem that strong to me. I would have liked to see her be trying to stand up for herself, but she hid behind others, and she was too trusting too quickly. Rex, he was pretty hot, but he was an iffy character. He was hot and cold a lot.

While this could be enjoyable for some with certain book tastes, I felt sort of disconnected from it. I did really enjoy it in the beginning and towards the middle, but I thought it was being rushed after that. Too much happened in the span of so little time. If this could all be fleshed out, I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more. It was still a enjoyable, but I didn't absolutely fall in love with it.

there was too much going back and forth between locations and characters that the reader actually can get lost in what is going on (I did)

THIS BOOK WAS GIVEN TO ME FOR FREE IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW

I was undecided on whether i should give this book 3 or 4 stars because it wasnt the best book but it wasnt the worse. I went with 4 stars because when its all said and done I actually enjoyed reading this book. There were a few errors in the book but they didnt take away from the story. This story is about Julia and a shape shifter named Rex. Rex steps in when Julia is in trouble and the story takes off after that. The synopsis mentioned Julia's ex so i assumed he had alot to do with the story but he actually doesn't. Rex has secrets that are uncovered through out the story. There were some moments of this book that had semi dark and twisted feels to them but they added ro the story in my opinion. The pace and flow of this book were steady so the book held my interest. There were some monets in the book that just didnt make sense so the dots didnt fully connect so for that i wish the story had been longer then maybe the other wouldve had time to explain somethings more or the storyline wouldve been able to develop a bit more. Over all this was a good read

** I received an ARC of this book for an honest review**

My rating is closer to 3 - 3 1/2 stars, but I rounded up. I'm not sure how to describe this book. 'Lion: Chasing Rescued Love' was one of those books that I had a hard time understanding. The overall premise left me kinda lost. Who knows, maybe I just had an idiot moment. The storyline was fast paced, full of emotion and was quite wild in the process. Definitely read the reviews before reading- due to the nature of the relationship between characters. Right off, Derek was an a$$. He's the type that acts out the ultimate betrayal and then minimizes his actions. Julia was blindsided by an act of kindness and then thrown into a whole new world. Yet, she acted or reacted to the whole thing as if it were everyday occurances. The realization of shifters and the sexual draw was quite creative, however dark. Rex left me questioning him. He was kind and stepped in when it counted, but then turned out to have a huge secret. And even that wasn't clear to me as to what it meant or why it impacted others.

julia had been lured by her ex to try again but little things convinced her that going that route wouldn't be the best decision. finding him with a young girl on his lap only proved that. rushing out he manages to catch up with her and his intentions are far from honorable. when things take a turn for the worse a passerby steps and and tries to diffuse the situation.
introducing himself as Rex, she's swooned by his handsome appearance and despite her apprehension she feels a connection. rex tries to make her at ease and let her decide what to do. giving in to her feelings she goes with him and she has the night of her life. but what happens after also changes her live forever!
is rex really a stranger? what he just a passerby?
will julia come to terms with the whole new world that opens to her?

a lot of questions pop up and slowly you're getting the answers. not always perfect but you get them.
parts of the story could have been fleshed out a bit more to give it a bit more depth but overall it's a good read on a rainy day!

So, I needed to think about what I wanted to say in this review for a while. I finished this book just over a week ago. In all honesty, this book is kind of brilliant. I love paranormal, especially paranormal romance. BUT it went a little too far with me, and I wasn't sure how to let that go or where to go in a review with it. Being 100% honest, if when he turned into a lion and left her alone sexually, I'd have been great and this book would be receiving a 5 star review and I'd run and tell all my friends to pick this up right now. BUT the beastiality aspect is leaving me with giving it a 3. It made me really uncomfortable and I couldn't really wrap my head around it. I am certain that it was to prove that the beast (lion) in him was just as much a part of him and she wanted him in every way he came. I just feel like for me, that was too much. Maybe even just leaving her at "turned on" by the lion could've been enough to prove her devotion? I'm not sure. I feel bad leaving a 3 star, when I loved the story over all, but... well, there you have it. :/

A lonely woman, a tortured-cursed man and a evil man who wants it all.
Julia is a business woman of her own. She is tired of being lied to and manipulated by all the men she had dated so far. Especially her most recent ex. So will she give him another chance? So lately she has been spotting a stray cat in the alley. Thinking to bring it home, she tries to find it. Little does she know that average looking cat has a really huge secret.
Rex may be a rich man but he is a cursed man, due to a woman of his past. And wanting nothing to with them now except for a stand or two. He goes through life doing his thing. Till he spots her while out searching for food. He may be rich but what can he offer the woman for a little of her time to spend with him? Well he be able to convince her to stay and maybe be his?
(Just a word of advice, this does have kidnapping, rape and a some beastiality. A shifter shifted in his animal form having sex with a willing woman.)

I was given a copy exchange for my honest review
For me this was a new author, so I had no idea what to expect..now Julia The main female character what I got from her was she's almost taking everything in and dissecting it before she gives her honest answer so I guess I would say she's clinical so where I think she's going to have her meltdowns over something that comes up she doesn't which shocks me.. I did find that this read was really fast and kind of bunched together there was just so much going on that I kind a wish it was separated more. So I don't know if this was the first time shifters book for the author but there is great potential, so like I said before the way it was written I could picture of the characters feel their emotions the protectiveness the secrets the insecurities, I think because of thought that's what kept me interested but again I would've liked to seen this stretched out a little more and slow down

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

The story starts with Julia agreeing to go out for a drink with her ex because she is lonely and decides to give him another shot after she caught him cheating. She catches him cheating again and then he assaults her in an alley and she is saved by Rex.

The story is a little cliche' to say the least, but it does have a very different take on shifters and how they are created. I will warn that there is bestiality in this story and is not for the faint of heart. I felt very uncomfortable reading and would have stopped if not for the promise to review it. There are some minor grammar errors, but not so bad that one can't understand what is implied. Overall, it wasn't a bad story which is why I gave it three stars, but it's not a story everyone will enjoy either.

I'll be honest and this review will read very differently than the others I have written. Sometimes I felt sorry for Kelly and hated how she was treated by the people in her life, her mother in particular, poor little rich girl and all that. At others times I hated her, and wanted to slap her silly, for the way she was treating Marcus. Marcus the man who has loved Kelly for years, and wants nothing more than to make her happy, he's such a sweety. I was so happy when Kelly finally grew a pair, told her mother off, and told Marcus she wanted only him. This book is a roller coaster of emotional ups and downs and I loved it!

Mister Derek Owens, is a lying cheating no good ex from Julia Monroe's past. He wanted her back. In his case, I would gladly slam the door shut and throw away the key.

Julia Monroe can't help being drawn to Rex, lion shifter. He's a great rescuer for this damsel in distress. He inspires so much deep inside her but... Where will this lead?

This novella isn't all sunshine and roses. At times, darker undertones are apparent. This novella has a unique voice and storytelling. I was able to read it quickly despite: beware sex in bestial form.

It's always great to be introduced to new authors such as D.S. Sage.

I received my copy for free in exchange for a honest review.

It deserves 3.5 stars!

I have conflicting feelings about this book. I like it and yet I don't. The first part of the book is about Julia and her ex and could be any number of paranormal shifter stories. And the second half is Julia coming to terms with Rex's life and story and all the bad things that could and do happen. Maybe I got too involved and felt what Julia was feeling. Maybe it was just antagonist that irritated me. But if the antagonist is that good to make me hate him too, then maybe the story was perfect. But don't take my word for it, maybe you should read the story and see if you come to the same conclusion as me. Try it for yourself and see how you feel at the end. I was given an ARC by the author in return for an honest review.

I actually had a bit of a struggle reading this story. The storyline was very rushed. One thought or action wasn't completed before another one began. The parts that flowed well we're good. There were several editing errors. Simple things like he instead of she type errors. Because it was an ARC I'm not certain if it was a rough unedited draft, so I'm not sure if the purchased version will have the same errors. It has serious potential. I hope future books in this series are slowed down a bit, and more time is taken completing thoughts and actions.

>Book review - Lion:Chasing Rescued Love

>I am an independent reviewer. This is a standalone novel with an HEA. The book is labeled as erotica. Erotica is a dark form of romance, but bestiality is not romantic, nor is it erotica. Themes of kidnapping, abuse, rape and bestiality abound in this book. The plot seemed secondary to the shocking sex.

>I dislike a book with a weak plot and this book had the weakest plot. I cannot recommend this story. The side characters weren't developed and the descriptions were confusing. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the book 2 stars.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. All in all, I enjoyed this book. I was a bit confused by a few things which were never fully explained that made it difficult to understand what was happening at times, at least for me, but I don't feel that it really took anything away from the story overall. I am looking to see if there is a second book for this story. I think it was a really different take on shifters and would enjoy another book but would like their origins and how they came to be explained in a bit more detail. It interested me enough that I'm looking into other works from this author though. It was pretty well written considering the lack of details.

This was the first book I have read by D. S. Sage. Julie Monroe a business woman found her now ex-boyfriend in bed with another woman. She is trying to get over Derek but he will not let her, he asks her to meet him but she finds he is still just the same cheater. After throwing his drink in his face she leaves , and Derek attacks her in an alleyway, Rex who she does not know comes to her rescue. Rex is not human like Julie thinks. What is Rex and why is the evil that was after Rex now after Julie ? I was gifted a copy for an honest review barwatts@telus.net

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

I love shifter books this book was good but very dark in ways, I pushed me a little beyond my comfort zone, almost to much, I would recommend this book but be forewarned that it may be a bit more than you think it has a very good plot but a bit rushed in some parts and not enough in others, I recommend this book, but be forewarned that it is a bit dark

I received this book in exchange of a honest review.

This book really didn't suit me. I felt that there were too little in term of background story and even less in the characters relationship. I know it is a short book so it is understandable that things happen quickly but here, they take place too quickly and not logically. Another point that bothered me was the way Julia was with the animal side of Rex... That was just disturbing as was the 2nd half of the book.

I received a free copy of this in exchange for an honest review.

Not my usual kind of read.

I was disappointed in Jules from the off - she let Derek kiss her and agreed to meet him and then let the stranger act like a chauvinistic saviour. She struck me as a very weak, typically drippy woman.

This was quite well written with a good mix of dialogue and description. Unfortunately the characters let it down - they appeared to be stereotypes and there was very little character development.
