SEAL Team Six #6

SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Dragon

Rate this book
The North Korean government is days away from realizing its nuclear ambitions and only the heroes of SEAL Team Six can stop it.
Chief Warrant Officer Thomas Crocker of SEAL Team Six's Black Cell is in Las Vegas after conducting a training exercise in the desert with new members of the team. Lounging by the pool at Caesar's Palace, he witnesses an argument between hotel security guards and three Asian men in corporate attire that quickly turns physical. Giving chase, he soon corners the businessmen, who claim to be Chinese diplomats under the protection of diplomatic immunity. Except the men don't respond when the head of hotel security--Crocker's old friend--addresses them in Mandarin.
That night, someone hacks into the Nevada Power Company system, and Las Vegas goes completely dark. The businessmen set their hotel suite on fire and escape amidst the chaos. At the same time, James Dawkins, a brilliant scientist with top-secret clearance, disappears from a conference in Geneva and wakes to find himself in a North Korean bunker with instructions to solve an engineering problem that will enable North Korea to launch nuclear attacks on its enemies worldwide.
Chasing a trail of evidence that takes them from U.S. soil to international waters to China and North Korea, Crocker and the rest of SEAL Team Six find themselves in the middle of an international plot with dangerous geopolitical ramifications. The North Korean government will stop at nothing to realize its long-held nuclear ambitions--but it'll have to get through some of America's most highly trained warriors first.

Obviously I like this series as I have read the first 6 books now. The knowledge or special operators and expertise is apparent in the book. The action never stops and this is a very quick read.
The one issue I have is the inclusion of technical details that aren't really needed and, at least for me, stuck out as jarring. There is no need to say 5.56mm ammo or the gauge of the fast rope used or even the model of boots worn. These break the immersion of the story and don't serve a purpose of edifying us further in the activities of the plot.

Another action packed shoot'em up. Knowing that one of the author's was in the SEALS adds definite authenticity to this series. The mortality rate of squad characters has gone up in the last half of this series. Interesting juxtaposition between CWO Crocker's personal life and military life. I recommend any in this series.

This was another audiobook and was difficult to follow while exercising. The author and the series were new to me and listening to the sixth book was a mistake - should have started with the first novel in the series. This is a genre that I normally enjoy, but this story was a miss for me. A two-star rating is the best I can give this novel.

A nice filler story as it is only around 300 pages. In this book a bad guy from North Korea that runs a section that is messing with the USA has to be eliminated. The team goes there to rescue an American nuclear physicist and are surprised that the Dragon is at the same facility. There is a lot of action but for me the story needed to be filled out a bit.

18-year grizzled Seal Team Six veteran and operator CWO Thomas Crocker once again is called upon to step into the gap when North Korean paranoia and evil once again threatens. This op is a rough one taking the team to the very edge from which some will not return paying the ultimate price. STS fans will enjoy this latest installment.

Excellent Book Don Mann is Awesome

Don Mann is an outstanding writer with vivid detail. All of his books in this series are outstanding. I wish he would write another 10 books to go along with these.

This book is awful. I couldn’t even finish it. The storyline switches all over the place and is ridiculously boring and poorly written. There is no character development, no realism, and no plot line. A terrible book, don’t waste your time like I wasted mine.

adventurous even if fanciful!

Liberties with reality are an author’s livelihood. A detailed drama of insertion, evasion, destruction and more evasion. Entertainment without provoking deep thinking.

It was a good book. Not the usual stuff that had happened in the past books. But a good different view.

It has been a while since I have read this book but I think I remember enough about it. This book was good and it was interesting, however I don't like how slow everything seemed to happen. It seemed like they were in the same place forever and something super interesting only happened every 2-3 chapters

“SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Dragon” eBook was published in 2016 and was written by Don Mann (http://www.usfrogmann.com) and Ralph Pezzullo (http://www.ralphpezzullo.com). Mr. Mann has authored or co-authoered a mix of eleven fiction and non-fiction books. Mr. Pezzullo has authored or co-authored 17 books. This is the seventh of his “SEAL Team Six” series.

I received a galley of this novel for review through https://www.netgalley.com. I categorize this novel as ‘R’ because it contains scenes of Violence and Mature Language. This Thriller novel is set mostly in North Korea, with Chief Warrant Officer Thomas Crocker, a serving US Navy SEAL, as the main character.

The US Secret Service discovers an effort to pass millions in counterfeit US currently. Crocker is inadvertently involved, then soon after he and his team is tasked with destroying the source of the counterfeit bills.

Crocker’s team of SEALs sneak into North Korea to penetrate the secret facility where the money is being printed. They are also there to destroy efforts thought to be conducted there to enhance the North Korean nuclear missile program. They are asked to look for an American rocket scientist that is thought to be held hostage there as well.

Crocker and his team are faced with the entirety of the North Korean military seeking them. They must survive by stealth and find a way home once their mission is completed. They endure one hardship after another as they struggle to find their way home.

I enjoyed the 6 hours I spent reading this 304 page novel. I like these Special Ops kind of Thrillers and read the prior book in this series. While the plot was not innovative, it was interesting. I think that Crocker is an interesting character. I give this novel a 4 out of 5.

The sixth in the Seal Team Six series "Hunt The Dragon" has the same fast action real feel as the first five. I would guess it has something to do with the fact that the author Don Mann was himself at one time a Seal member of Seal Team Six, that and the fact he sure knows how to write. Hunt the Dragon was released in 2016 so for now it's the last book in this series, I hope that it's just for now.

This book was sent to me by @MulhollandUK and @HodderBooks from over on @bookbridgr for a honest review. I did try to get into it but I really couldn’t. Possibly because its a completely different genre to what I normally read, but I thought I would give it a go anyway. I just couldn’t.

This isn’t to say there is anything at all wrong with this book, its just not my kind of reading material.

Mann and Pezzullo have done it again! Another pulse-pounding thriller that sees Crocker and usual cohorts Akil and Davis back in the middle of the action, and battling North Korean foes in an effort to stop that country's nuclear program in it's tracks and rescue a captured American scientist at the same time. Incredibly hard to put down! Can't wait for the next installment!

* A book that would be more appropriately shelved in the YA (Young Adults) section of the library.
* Completely lacks any tactical detail and 'edge' that is vitally systemic to a top-shelf novel.
