Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around. - "Vanilla Sky"
Time changes people, and in Jared's case, it's no different. High school was a struggle for him, and it was a year of heartache. He'd already lost more than anyone should have by the age of eighteen. But when he gets another chance, years later, with the one girl he has wanted from day one, he can't get over the past. Each time she tries to get closer to him, he pushes her further away.
Kollie is a survivor. She has faced pain and loss in her young life, yet she doesn't complain about the hand she was dealt. . Forced to support herself, she finds a job as a nanny with a family in her neighborhood. Imagine her surprise when the guy she crushed on in high school shows up. She'd always admired him, but never had the nerve to approach him. It turns out that he's her employer's son, Jared. That night was the beginning of a romance that pushed their boundaries, forcing them both to face their demons, no longer able to hide from a painful past of loss and abuse. Their whirlwind romance takes place over three consecutive summers. Join Jared and Kollie as they in turn try to shield one another from the pain of past events, while at the same time working to protect one another from more hurt and loss. While they strive to find and maintain the connection that continues to pull them together again and again, summer after summer, forcing them to realize that what brings them the greatest happiness of all…is one another.
E.N. gave us two beautiful characters. Both with morals (virginity) and virtues (underage drinking) that make them loveable. I love their interactions together and the sexual tension! I am soooo looking forward to finding out more about their background and where this is now going next! I can't wait! But she is making us!

This book was a fun, quick, HAWT little read that I read in an afternoon..
It was surprisingly refreshing, full of fun and sexual tension..made me laugh out loud kind of book.

I gave this book 5 Stars and can't wait for more..please don't keep me waiting lol
I usually don't like books that are short because I feel like the story won't flow or it'll be rushed.. And really I just like big books(and I can not lie lol).. But, Missing Summer was well put together and I didn't feel that it was rushed at all.. I want to know more on the what happened in both there pasts.. And who is this dang older man with scars on his face??? I need to know !!
was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review. I absolutely love this book and can't wait to read part 2 and part 3. I have been in a reading funk but this totally got me back into the swing of things. Can't wait to see what's in store for part 2. Love love this book!!
*I received an ARC of this book so this is an honest review.*
This was actually a nice little read. In the beginning, I kind of thought it was a little rushed, but then I had to start thinking that this was only part one of a bigger story. I was concerned that since it was such a quick read that it wouldn't allow enough time for the story and the characters to develop, but I thought E.N. did a really good job! This story had many high points for me but also one or two things I thought should have been done differently, but overall, I liked it!
POSSIBLE SPOILERS SO READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION. High Points: I just love Jared! I love his relationship with his siblings and how he regrets not being the big brother they deserved and how he's there for them now and trying to teach them not to make the same mistakes he did. And he so charming and sexy and adorable! I like how Kollie has this ere of mystery. Like I actually liked the cliffhanger, it has me trying to figure out what happened to her in the past. And I like how even though she's a virgin, she's not afraid to take charge in the bedroom. I loved the strip poker scene; it had me crackin up! Low Points: When Kollie was telling Jared about her past, I thought he ended the conversation kind of abruptly like I felt it should have been a more in depth discussion of her feelings.
This book releases March 1, and I think you should definitely pick it up if you're into a blossoming romance between two people who will leave you craving more! And now for my favorite line from the book, "He looks like sin in my doorway, and he smells even better." <3
LOVED. LOVED. LOVED THIS BOOK! This book was amazing. It's a short read and quick witch I usually hate and I never read short books but I LOVED this book.
Kollie and Jared are so cute together. I loved there there interactions. I loved everything about them and I loved them together!
There is more to Kollie then I think she even understands right now. Something happend but she can't remember and I'm dying to know what and praying at the same time it isn't what I think it is. (I need the other books!)
Jared is so hard to figure out. But a good hard to figure out. Somethings going on that we don't know yet. He hasn't shared his past and I can't wait to find out what is going on.
That ending. Why. Why did you leave us hanging like that. I'm dying over here. Part 2 and part 3 need to come out soon, like ASAP!! I need to know what's going on. I want a better understanding of Kollie and Jared.
I received an ARC for a honest review* and I honestly loved this authors debut novel. I have nothing negative to say. It's short. It's a quick read. It leaves you hanging. But it's beautifully written and it flows perfectly together. Well done and keep up the awesome work!!
Sometimes if you're given a second chance you should walk away, other times you should run right to it. Grab it for all it's worth, all you've got because you may not get another chance. This book was a wonderful story of love, loss, and love again. Jared and Kollie are both survivors. Each find a way to make it, move on and look for something more, something that could bring meaning to their lives. Jared leaves town the moment he is old enough searching for something more. Kollie is tossed aside the moment she reaches adulthood. When Kollie starts a job, she's shocked to not only find out Jared is back in town but he's her employers son. Each have internal struggles and must learn how to deal with them. When the struggles become too much will they learn to lean on each other to fight the forces against them? This is a story of second chances and learning that sometimes what you need is right in front of you.
Kollie is an 18 yr old, working as a nanny, looking after two teenagers, Leslie and James Crowe. She lives in the pool house belonging to Sunny and David Crowe. She loves her job and even though she has no ambitions beyond being a nanny and settling down and becoming a mum, Kollie has a deep dark secret that keeps her from moving forward and having a relationship.
Jaded, Sunny and David's eldest son returns home after bar tending in Athens. He moved away to clear his head. He also has secrets from his past and is trying to become a better person.
This is E.N.Hidgins debut novel. It is a quick read and leaves you wanting more. Can't wait for part two of Missing Summer, hopefully some secrets will be revealed.
I enjoyed the book, found it interesting that it started in the summer of 2016, then jumped back 2 years to give you an insight in to the start if Kollie (a live in nanny with parents who kicked her out) and Jared the oldest of the Crowe family What I want to know is whose Cara ? And whose the girl that Jared refers to when f**king up her life ? Hmmm answers needed, hopeful as this is a cliffhanger the next instalment may answer these, So far it's a gentle story, but you can see that there is mystery surrounding them looking forward to the next chapter.
4 stars given as although I enjoyed the book, I prefer a little more angst and grit, but a great book nonetheless.
Arc received for an honest review A well deserved 5 stars. I literally devoured this in one sitting. I couldnt put it down. It had everything and I was hooked from the start. There is mystery and a lot of sexual tension it had everything you could want. The author threw everything in there mixed it all up and gave it a little bit of spice just enough to wet our whistles.I loved the characters and the story was well written. It has left me with so many questions to which the answers cant come soon enough. I loved it and I cant wait for the next part of the journey. What a start to E.N.Hudgins debut novel. This is gonna be a really good series.
Wow! This book grabbed me right from the start! Right from the beginning I was trying to figure out what happened between the two main characters (Kollie and Jared). Kollie is a full time nanny to Jared's younger siblings and that's how they meet. Kollie has had something traumatic happen to her in the past but we don't know yet what it is. Jared has returned home, but it is a mystery as to why he left in the first place. Will they be able to help each other escape from their pasts and find happiness in the future, or will they just cause each other more pain? This was a quick and addictive read, looking forward to the next installment!!!
It's not very often that you come across a new author and her words keep you hooked. Well this one did from page one to the last. The book is short read with a definite cliffhanger that you honestly can't wait for. Kollie is a nanny for a family with older kids. The family takes her in because her own threw her out to fend for herself. Jared the oldest in the family had been gone for some time. There is some mystery as to why he was gone, I can only hope the author fills us in soon. They start to hang out and get to know one another when they get hot and heavy, BAM! She leaves you hanging. Can't wait to see what she has in store for us in the coming series!
Just finished it and wow! All I can say is I need more right now. I have soooo many questions going through my head right now. I am loving Kollie and Jared, there is so much sexual tension between them. I love the banter back and forth between these two. I can't wait to see what's in store for them. This is a debut for this author and I can't wait to read more by her. Excellent job E.N. Hudgins. Go grab this book it's a quick read that will have you begging for more.
Kollie is a live in Nanny for two teens at 18 years old. Her family life was less than desirable. The Crowd's seem to be the best thing that's happened to her. Then Jared comes home... He is the eldest Crowe child and 3 years Kollie's senior. He makes her think all sorts of naughty things.
This is obviously just an installment, so yes, there is a cliffhanger. It definitely draws you in with the final page. It will be interesting to see how all the characters and situations interlink.
***ARC RECEIVED IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***
Wow! What an amazing start to this little series. Kollie and Jared are fun, easy characters that you fall in love with, and with that ending! I need to know what happens next! I can't be left hanging like this! Is it March 15th yet?!?
This is the first I have read of E.N. Hudgins, and she did not disappoint! I can't wait for Missing Summer, Part 2 to come out! If you love serials as much as I do, I highly recommend! It's a fast, easy read that leaves you wanting more!
Read.... No... devoured this tonight, really enjoyed it... My only complaint? I haven't got part 2 yet!! Like that there is mystery surrounding both Jared and Kollie, there are clearly things we don't know yet! Arrgh it's left me wanting more! This is a really well written start to what I'm certain will be a fab series! I got goosebumps while I was reading at one point! It's very emotive!
I really enjoyed this book it will have u turned on and wanting more its such a sweet but hot love story. I absolutely can not wait for the second book to see where this steamy love story goes great job E.n hudgins
I absolutely LOVED this book. I loved these characters and cannot wait for book 2. E N Hudgins captures perfectly how that first love/crush feels. While reading this I was transported back to when I was 16. Couldn't put it down. Bring on part 2
This book is a great read. I really enjoyed reading it. It is well written. The story flows great. Kollie is my character. I am really glad her and Jared are starting a relationship. Give this book a try.
Missing summer tells us the tale of Kollie and Jared.
When Kollies parent kicked her out she got a job as a nanny to Jared's younger siblings and moved into the pool house. Jared's family feel like her family too now, except Jared the boy who upon his return fast becomes more then just family to her, he becomes her everything. But with past memories coming to light will Jared be there for Kollie when she really needs him?
Jared always had a thing for Kollie even in high school, so when he finally returns home after being gone for years the last thing he expects is to find the girl he crushed hard for living in his parents pool house and fitting right in with his family. Jared quickly realises that despite feeling guilty and never really getting over the sins of the past Kollie is the right girl for him. But once she knows the truth will she even want to be with him?
Both Jared and Kollie go through so much in this story and i found myself wondering if they would ever be together. I was hooked by this story from the very beginning, i knew Kollie hadnt had it easy and i admired her strength especially when the reasons behind her dreams came to light. Jared had me frustrated so many times throughout this book but despite it all i still loved him and the idea of him and Kollie having their HEA. This is a story of love, and most of all a story of strength with subjects such as rape and PTSD being touched upon.
Overall a 4* read for me and i cant wait to read more from this author and this series!
We start off by meeting Kollie who is the innocent girl next door who has been kicked out of her family home by her parents. She lands a job working full time as live in nanny to Leslie and James Crowe. They have given Kollie the residence of the family pool house. Kollie loves her job and ends up loving the family as her own. One night she gets a call from her friend Jamie, when she gets up for a drink and her life is about to change big time. Its whilst getting a drink that she meets Jared .
Jared has been away doing barwork in Athens. He's returned home for good, as he wants to change his direction in life and begin working in the family business. He is hiding secrets that are messing with his head up at high school Jared was one of the most popular boys and could have his pick of any girl he wanted but he couldn't get the girl he had a crush and now he is really confused because his old crush from high school, is not only working for his parents she is living in his pool house and looking after his sister and brother.
The more time Kollie and Jared spend with each other the chemistry is getting stronger by the day and boy does their chemistry get red hot.
This book will have you hooked from page 1 till the very end. I am patiently waiting on book 2 to see what happens next.
Review by Whitney at The Club I received an ARC for an honest review
Kollie has grown up too fast and taken care of herself at a young age. Being kicked out at 18 a neighbor took her in and now she is a full time nanny for them. When their oldest son comes home she can't help but fall instantly in lust with him. But she has a secret. She fears intimacy. Something has always held her back but she wants Jared to be her first.
Jared is ready to grow up and returns home only to find someone in the pool house. Jared believes he isn't worthy of his long time crush, Kollie. Yet he can't seem to stay away.
This first installment is a great way to build up to the rest of the series. The author makes sure to give a little history to each character without dragging it out. The banter is entertaining for sure and the complete opposite of characters is intriguing. There is a secret that I'm sure will be revealed as to Kollies nightmares and there is a history that Jared hides and the author gives just enough of a glimpse to make you want to come back for more.
This is E.N. Hudgins' first book?? WOW i'm completely blown away. This is only the beginning not just for the author but also the characters Jared and Kollie. I had this book devoured in a short time. Its quick, its hot, and its fun to see how Kollie and Jared started.
Kollie is a full time nanny for the Crowe family after getting kicked out of her parents house. She has been living in their pool house.
Jared has been away trying to find himself. Hes now home and ready to take responsibility for his life.
The attraction between Kollie and Jared is intense. shes always thought he was hot and Jared has always noticed her as well but never approached her.
But now whats stopping them? I cant wait to read more on Jared and Kollie, you know that these two have a few secrets and things hidden under the surface and I cannot wait to see exactly what they are. Book one only gives you a brief teaser to get your mind thinking and then BAM the book is done. Please give me more I need it!!
Kollie is eighteen, fresh out of high school and working as a Live in Nanny for the Crowe's after she becomes estranged from her parents.
When the Crowe's oldest Son Jared returns home from out of town sparks fly between him and Kollie and they develop a friendship.
Kollie and Jared's relationship moves quickly and their chemistry is on fire. They seem to have a burning attraction that anyone can pick up on when they are in the same room.
But what are the Secrets they are both hiding under the surface and will they threaten their future happiness.
E.N Hudgins writing is fresh and well developed and she really helps you get Kollie and Jared's personalities. Loved the Top Gun reference scene.
A great Debut novel with a cliffhanger leaving you begging for more, can't wait to see what part 2 brings for these summer lovers.
Missing Summer part one is E.N. Hudgins first book and it blew me away! We've all read that debut that made us cringe or turned us off a new author completely, this one will do the opposite, it will hook you and make you want to beg for part two! It's a quick read. Funny and sexy, and you just know by the end of the book that this is going to be one hell of a ride for Kollie and Jared. Kollie has a past we don't get much info on but you know it's traumatic and affects her daily. Jared, I think I could love this guy. He's come home deciding it's time to grow up and be a man, what he finds is Kollie and as their friendship develops he finds himself wanting to actually know the woman he wants, he wants more than a fling for the first time in his life.
Part one is well written and has great character development. It's the start of what promises to be a great series.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Jamie and Kollie are best friends and they seem to go through everything together from school and life. They both are there for each other in good times and bad. It was good to see Jamie help Kollie see when she was wrong/stubborn.
Jared has avoided his hometown because he endured some pain because of his actions. When he finally comes back to town, things change.
I like the story because it shows that there are feeling that were hidden, friendships, and misunderstandings that make it interesting. As I was reading I was switching between giving Kollie a chance, then switching to Jared, then back and forth. They both seem to think they don't deserve to be happy or that it won't come without pain.
The end had me so surprised. I wanted more and hope the author writes more, possibly about Jamie.
E.N. Hudgins is a new Author to me but I can honestly say she captured me right away. This series is a must read and will not disappoint. Even thou this is the first installment I can tell it will be an amazing series. Its sweet, funny and a perfect starter.
After being kicked out from her home Kollie is offered a full time live in nanny position and given the pool house as her new living quarters. She loves her job, loves the family she works for. But she has secrets.
Jared has been gone from home but is now back and ready to make changes and help in the family business. But his life is thrown into a spin when his high school crush is living in his pool house and is so close. Can he keep his distance?
