Trigger warnings: abuse: emotional and child, torture, and graphic murders.

The sixth game focuses alot around the subject of love: trials, obsession and the darkness of it.

Battler wants to preserve the game when he learned the true meaning behind the game board.

The first game as the golden endless warlock who is still a fledgling in the whole battle of wits with witches will soon learn the gravest of mistakes.

The manipulation might be the end of everything and we still haven't found the truth.

I miss the old Beato.

Does the witch of theatre have her own agenda or is this her truth?

or you fans of gore that were dissapointed by the first volume of this arc get ready for volume two and all its murdery mayhem.

The 2nd book in the Dawn of the Golden Witch arc (and book 14 of the series for those keeping track) picks up in typical Umineko style as the witches game takes its first victims as each member of the 3 couples must sacrifice someone on the island to fulfill the challenge to win the magic of love. This series can be confusing at times with the concept of magic versus logic but I feel this book seems to explain it a little better now that Battler has taken on the roll of Witch in Beatrice's place after competing against her for so many volumes. Of course it also helps that Angie is reading what is happening as we see it in action so she can make her own comments (so we are reading about something someone else is reading...so meta) reminding me of the answer arcs of Higurashi in the past.

Another thing I like about this volume is the moment Dlanor asks why Erika is so against magic and we find out she is not just a 2 dimensional detective type of character created by Bernkastel but has a troubled past that molds her actions just as solidly as the threats from board witches if she fails them. Whoever wins the game the loser will not be well off for sure.

My favorite part of the book would have to be the bonus comic at the end of the volume called "Fledgling Beato is Still a Baby" where a misunderstanding from Bernkastel stepping on Erika and moments from earlier in the series leads to an off scene where innocent Beato tries to help Battler experience the sot of pleasure shown in the Chapter 15 backstory comic. :)

Definitely not bad, but I think this is the weakest volume since the first volumes of Episodes 1 and 2. The manga is actually doing a lot to improve the visual novel from what I remember. Much better pace, the story is clearer, and I feel like I actually understand the game between Battler & Erika, whereas I just wanted to get through it my first read.

My issues with the episode ultimately come down to how little focus is spent on the gameboard and the fact that Erika has ostensibly become the main character via her detective role. She works better as a foil and rival to Battler, not our focal character. That said, she's interesting as a representation of Ange's desire to find the truth by any means necessary and I'm liking her more in the manga than I ever did in the visual novel. Flipping the script for Battler is also a smart move so late in the story.

I don't like the Love Game, though. Jessica vs Kyrie is probably the single worst scene in Umineko. I'm really missing the family drama, in particular. It's important that the story focus on the Love Game for thematic reasons, but I'm not sold on it even on a reread. It just feels like time poorly spent.

I'm curious to see how I feel about the logic error in the manga. So far, it's been built up better than the visual novel and the tension leading up to it has been solid.

oh to be a crazy witch in love. i'm enjoying the turning of the tables here in battler being the game master and the witch's side. i hate erika so much. i want her to get hers so bad it is making me into a bad person. also i love beato and i don't care if that's wrong. i don't want to be right. i can't wait to wrap up this episode because i have a good feeling about what's coming my way. but also that's a foolish thing to say when there's still two episodes to torment me with after........

This was a wonderful volume. The artwork is beautiful, emotional torque is right where it needs to be. It even manages to be clearer than the original VN regarding which sub-story you happen to be reading (not an easy task, since the story stack on each other like nesting dolls). Great read; looking forward to the next volume.

✨Writing a grouped review for the entirety of the manga and copy/pasting. I started reading this 6 months ago at the time of writing and read over a few months and don't remember specifics about every single volume except what I rated them ✨

Umineko has an intriguing premise and good execution which does a lot right. The author manages to create such eerie and scary atmospheres and have the reader on edge wondering what is going to happen next. I particularly enjoyed a lot of the locked room scenarios and discussions and explanations.

Where this manga fails is it's extreme repetitiveness. It wears down on the reader very quickly. As a result I'm not sure this is a manga I would recommend to many people.

I will eventually watch the anime, whilst a short run this may be something I'd be inclined to recommend more as the premise itself is well done.

Oh my gosh! I have to admit that this episode so far has been twisty-turny. Gets even more so in this volume. Not going to add any spoilers, but I am looking forward to reading the next volume this January.
