I am so glad that this writer has continued the series to include the wolf pack. This story, like the others, was sweet and heartwarming. The plot execution was well paced and nicely executed. The characters were relatable and charming. I also love that this writer offers her books as kindleunlimited. Can't wait for more!
hmm, not my favorite of the series. At 169 pages, the story just felt a little short and also lacking in interpersonal tension after the halfway point. But still, heartwarming and still enjoying this series!
With what we've seen of Dalton so far in this series I didn't expect the start of this book, for him to be so broken. Dalton has always come off as a fun loving teasing wolf, turns out he had a bit of a secret. I was glad that between Chance's talk and meeting Kate, Dalton was able to get a different perspective on the past, which made his future bright.
Kate was the perfect person for Dalton, but I was a bit worried at the start. Between Kate knowing a bit too much and her past romantic relationships I didn't think she would give Dalton a chance.
I loved how the rest of the pack welcomed Kate in, including the bears and their women. But for me the highlight of the book was when Dalton finally spent time with tiny Fina and how the rest of the pack responded.
I could have done without the drama at the end, mostly because I think someone needs to put Clayton down. He has proven time and time again he can't be trusted.
OMG!!!! What can I say? I am at a loss for words here. "Dawson Fur Hire" has to be the best seller of the year next to "Wolf Fur Hire." While reading "Dawson Fur Hire" I felt so many emotions and I am still feeling some of those emotions while reading "Chance Fur Hire." All can say if this book does not hit the best sellers list then there is something bad wrong with all of readers out there. This book is an absolute must read. I cried, I laughed, I fell in love, and I wanted to kill (actually without giving anything away, I still want to kill a certain somebody). Any book that can make a person feel so much emotion deserves more than an damn 5 stars. There aren't enough stars to rate this book. This is an absolute must read.
Dalton Dawson is a werewolf shifter, and guide for Jenner Silver's tour business. It is the anniversary of a very tragic day in his life and he just wants to drink and be alone in his own grief. He is by no means looking for a mate. He is trying to drink away is sorrow and in walks TROUBLE in the shape of a tiny Human who begins to melt the ice he had built around his heart. As he begins to learn things about Kate Hawke he starts to watch out for her from afar. But even that begins to get hard for him to do. His wolf is wanting to be close to her. Is Kate going to set them both on a journey that they will not be able to come back from?
Kate Hawke is a shy, and timid person, but she has a good heart. Having been burned and abused by Miller McCall and other shifters it is only natural she not trust shifters. Even though her inner self tells her not to get involved with Dalton Dawson, a werewolf, and that she should be afraid of him, she isn't afraid of him and begins a friendship with him. She wants him to hang around her because he makes her feel safe and secure and it has been ages since her life has seem to have some light in it. With her past trying to catch up with her, and Dalton wanting to protect her, he makes a deal with the DEVIL, and it could come back to haunt him. If it does, can he protect them both?
No spoilers given. You definitely must read this book.
Excellent series! I'm excited and sad at the same time for the final story in this series with Chance's story coming soon. Each one has a different mystery or bad guy, yet they feed up into a bigger conspiracy that connects them and it's wonderful writing. Keep the adventures going! If you haven't started with this series yet, what the heck are you waiting for?
I highly recommend though that you start at the beginning with Husband Fur Hire. The rest make sense and you get the full effect if you go in order. I thought Elyse in the first book would be my favorite heroine but I have to say that Vera in Mate Fur Hire is definitely the top now of my favorite list.
If you don't like this book then you are probably someone who hates puppies, ice cream, fluffy little baby animals, naps, and chocolate- aka a horrible person. Loved the book, and now there's only one story left in the series. I'm not dealing well with that, I'm still getting over her last series being over. I may need a support group.
Good but not my favourite. The h is sickly sweet we are told she's submissive. IN the story she kept pushing the H for more, hardly submissive. I thought the H was rather weak too. He belives his woes are worse than the others. Not my favourite couple.
Wow emotionally beautiful. Strong man that was so damaged and didn’t even know or or realize how abused he had been. And Kate so sweet and brave and was so abused and broken and aware of it these two meeting were two half’s of a whole.
Can you spell "LOVE-STARVED". I think it starts with a K... naaah... just kidding... or am I?
I was mildly entertained by this book, to be honest it wasn't bad but I'm not sure it was worth the time spent, mostly because of the beginning.
Dalton appeared first in book 2 as a funny side character and I definitely liked his part in book 3 and 4, I think both Dawson brothers are fine, but he was particular because of the "wounds" in his past which I wanted to know more about. The way his past is used in the plot tho... I found lacking. for example, it's obvious he was deeply hurt and traumatized by his loss and it's something he doesn't share with others, but then he mentions it to a complete stranger? I felt this unwarranted. On a good side, the way he finally heals this wound was touching and sweet, perfect and natural (baby Fina's scene was my favorite in the book). As a main character he was a bit of a downer in, not so interesting, but the decisions he makes past the halfway point and towards the end of the book made it dramatic and action packed, in a good way.
Kate wasn't so great. I liked her introduction cause it was helluva mysterious and the discovery behind the mystery was pleasant but right after things go right into lame-o-street. She clearly shows trauma and pain from previous relationships, and clearly states a total mistrust of others and a desire to remain distant which made her a complex character as well, but then she drops her IQ and common sense to the trash bin and invites a total stranger inside her house just a night after (mind you a night she can't even remember) to stay several more nights with her. WHAT THE ACTUAL F...? Is she so out of touch with reality that a good night's sleep (A NIGHT SHE CANNOT REMEMBER BTW) is worth setting herself up for pain she hours earlier stated always came? The following chapters and the early development of her relationship with Dalton doesn't make sense because of this, it just sounds like she got clingy, needy and stupid over night.
Is this the kind of image of a woman we should be portraying in books? Anyway, eventually things start making more sense because time passes and they spend more time together as a couple, but still the timeline felt rushed and the relationship forced.
The plot was the best part of the book. Not about how they meet but about what happens later on, the "challenge" they have to face or better said, the antagonist they have to face and what he brings along. I have to say tho... I CALLED IT! Clayton was never to be trusted and going back to book 3 and 4 knowing this is even worse, how he is pulled into the fold just like that by the women in the group. If I were one of the grizzly brothers I would totally called "I told you so".
And last... not to be too picky, but, BUT, it seems the editor got a little complacent with this book? I mean... who in the world says "girl babies" instead of "baby girls"?
I decided against buying the book since I doubt I'll be re-reading it, but I'm not against doing it, specially if you're the kind to collect and cause it was a somewhat pleasant read so maybe check it out at a library or lend it if you can before purchasing.
I love TS Joyce, and have enjoyed all of the "Fur Hire" books. This one was no different for me. It was quite an emotional read. Dalton--who knew he was harboring so much pain and loss?! Sometimes the one who always has a smile on their face is the one trying to cover the most heartbreak. My heart really hurt for him. And Kate--her ex was mean and humiliated her, and then her family let her down in a big way. I was glad though that Kate came along and needed Dalton as much as he needed her. I also loved how his cousin Chance was there for him and never backed down when Dalton tried to push him away. Loved how this pack formed their own family and connections.
Ugh! Clayton! He's a cruel, unredeeming son of a b****! Sick of him being at the center of all the problems for these shifters.🙄
*I'm normally not a petty person, but I would have loved to have seen Kate 's family eat their words. They never supported her or her dreams. They looked down on her choosing to become a nurse. Like, seriously?! And had the nerve to be embarrassed by her like she really asked to have parts of her "personal/private moments" blasted all over the internet. I hated that they made her feel like she was never enough, and she should have had the chance to rub her happiness in their face a little. Just a little bit.*
This is the fifth book in the series. They are better read in order. This book focuses on Dawson and his mate. April 1st is a hard day for Dawson. He meets a girl, Kate during a very hard time for him and he thinks his wolf is just trying to distract him. Kate knows what Dawson is. But she has been burned by a shifter before. So, she is keeping her mouth shut. She is drawn to him but leery of him at the same time. Then again, he is different than the last shifter she knew. He makes her feel safe and empowers her. She must decide if she is willing to take that risk again. Dawson is different but with his own set of issues. Will he be able to overcome what happened in his past in order to have a future with Kate? This book was fantastic. I am loving this series so much. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I can’t recommend this book or the series enough. Really all of T.S. Joyce’s books.
For years Dawson Dalton’s mourned the death of his daughter and the loss of his mate. With their new pack established, Dawson decides to spend his annual mourning period in Galena. Only his cousin Chance knows the story but the makeshift pack is ready to help Dawson with whatever he needs.
Just as Dawson ends a drinking binge in the local bar, honey scented nurse Kate Hawke walks in. Within moments, he’s privy to Kate’s not so secret shame and her Samaritan deeds. Before Dawson has to go back to Kodiak to run a lucrative tour, one of the doctors Kate works with threatens her as a way to lure and kill Dawson.
Five books in and I’m uncertain about this series with its extreme peaks and valleys. For my taste, the basics of the plot are always intriguing (here were shifter hunters) though the sex scenes seem obligatory and bridges to the next scene or lengthen the read. It is puzzling that the women aren’t surprised shifters exist or that they’re with one. Rating: 3.75stars
Wow! Okay, I think this one is my favorite of the series yet. I know the ending was the best so far.
We get to know Dalton so much better this book. Not only is he hot and protective, but he has deep feelings and was hurt badly in his past. Kate is the perfect mate for him. She’d been hurt in her past too, and Kate understood so much and never judged him because of what he was. I loved how all the characters from the previous books came together for each other. They are definitely a mixed family, but a family that loves hard and completely.
Chance is the final book in the series and I can’t wait to see who his mate will be.
I've read all the books in this series but with a long break between the last and this. Each is enough of a stand alone that the intervening time caused no problems. This story was sweet and endearing and built to what was, to me, a completely unexpected ending. It had my heart racing and as it unfolded, I was amazed at who/what was the final villain. Good job!
Once again you've brought us a strong romantic story to be enjoyed! I know I keep thanking you. But that is just the way I feel after reading something you've done. It never takes long to step into the characters lives and the area they live in. It all plays out very well and yes, it's nice to have a happy ending each time. Life is too hard to not ha a happy ending somewhere. ☺😀😃
Dalton lost his first love and baby girl, and gets a chance at a new life with ‘the one’. This story is sweet and has a ton of sappy sweet moments, but is also filled with action, ups and downs, traitors and, like all the stories in this series, tons of family love. Oh, and a bunch of crazy shifters get what’s coming to them! Definitely for the 18+ crowd- sweet and sappy turns super spicy at times!
Love this series and so glad she added books for these characters
These books always keep me engaged and interested they have unique story lines and a bit of angst but the characters work through their troubles together and it’s so heartwarming to follow their journey and I love how precious characters stay involved in the stories. I wish their were stories about the challenges and joy of parenting little shifter babies! Baby novellas are awesome
This is another great story in this series. Dalton has one time of the year where he just wants to hide from the world. Once he first sees Kate, all his intentions go out the window. Kate has her own past that haunts her and she knows Dalton is a shifter. She is afraid to trust another shifter but Dalton slowly wins her over. They have some obstacles they must work through but together, they succeed. They find love and their happily ever after.
What a whirlwind of a story that I wasn't expecting. Intrigue & danger and a backstory I was seriously unaware was coming. I loved Kate and her sweetness, how she helped make amends and braved what she did even after dealing with a McCall. Dalton was a sweetie pie and it was hard to see how his past haunted him but I was so so glad that Kate was there to be a balm and they moved past it!
All of these the whole series and the others are must read, I mean alpha male my favorite of all. Loved every bit of it and can't wait for the others to come out. All the books by the author are a must you wouldn't be able to put them down till you finished.😘
Two broken down people. Both were in damaging relationships. The balm to each other’s souls. Even with ties to each other’s pasts, all they can see is their future together. An beautiful story!
Following T's release date reading order still AWESOME A real second chance and better, but wait there is a hideous plot and a major outcome! Ok thats is get your own book. Well written awesome characters too. Love the cameos! Thanks T
Dalton Dawson's Wolf Shifter every April morn the lost of his infant baby girl Amelia for last four years. This April the fates set before him one sweet human nurse Kate Hawke. This is their story of finding love, and friends, home, and a Pack..
I absolutely loved this book! Has to be the best one in this series. Dalton had lost so much. He always felt like he was a monster. Kate changed all of that. This book brought on many tears and I loved it. I can't wait to read Chances book next!
Still loving this series. Dalton has been hurt in the past and he tries to keep himself closed off. He tries to ignore Kate but his wolf has other ideas. Kate really impressed me with her strength and perseverance. She didn't hide her feelings for Dalton and they were super sweet together.
Wonderful story of overcoming trauma and being brave enough to move forward. The wolf nurtures the nurse and the nurse helps the wolf. An ending to a mystery is revealed and their future has to be fought for by their pack and family. Enjoy!
