The beautiful photos really elevate this cookbook, which is full of fast shortcutty recipes. Recipes seem set on reproducing take out favorites and quickly preparing other original, flavourful meals. Often the flavour arrives on the back of salt, fat and breading, but, hey, the book never pretends to be a healthy eating cookbook. For example, 'Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Skillet'.

I think younger home cooks, especially those at college or starting out on their own, will love this book. Cheap, accessible ingredients include store-bought flour tortillas for making mini pizzas, packaged beef cocktail sausages (for bacon wrapped smokies), canned biscuit dough (parmesan twists), packaged cream cheese, and frozen / canned vegetables.

An overload of umami! The photographs are the best I have seen in a cookbook yet. You cannot help but smile from the overall bright tone and infectious cheerfulness of the book.

To Read: Yes, there’s not a lot to read, but you will want to check out the story of why she started the blog that led to this cookbook.

To Look At: Yes. The photos are gorgeous, and there is a photo for each recipe, which I always appreciate. It probably helps that Rhee creates beautiful photos of her recipes every day on her blog.

To Cook From: Yes. Even though I only had a chance to make one recipe from the cookbook, which didn’t turn out perfectly, I still recommend this cookbook. There are a ton of recipes that I want to try and plan on making soon. In addition, I have a couple of friends who highly recommend this cookbook, and I have had good luck with the recipes I have tried from the blog.

I think this cookbook is a nice combination of healthyish and not-so healthy recipes that are quick and easy, but definitely not lacking in flavor. If you’re not sure, check out the Damn Delicious blog and I’m sure you will get hooked on Rhee’s recipes.

I have been reading (and cooking from) the Damn Delicious blog for years now so when the book came out I had to have it. There is a great mix of old favorites and new recipes. I can't wait to try some of the new ones. I have literally never been disappointed by one of her recipes. I buy a couple of new cookbooks per year (yep, I still love paper books) and I am so happy to add this one to my collection.

~Disclaimer I received this book for free~

Well, there is a nice variety of recipes in here. They aren't all super cheap because of the ingredients, but the majority appear to be.

I'm trying a few recipes and as I try more links and descriptions will be added.

One Pot Spinach and Tomato Tortellini Soup (From Damn Delicious Cookbook)- A very straightforward recipe. I subbed in vegetable broth for chicken broth to make it vegetarian. It came out very good. I would repeat this as it is very simple. Pic here.

Avocado Toast (from the Damn Delicious Cookbook)- I’d say I failed pretty spectacularly. Apparently, carefully sliding an egg into hot water is just too difficult for me. I mean it tastes fine (I mean eggs and avocado on toast of course it will taste fine). But I lack the skill set for good presentation. Pic here.

Express Chow Mein (From Damn Delicious Cookbook)- I subbed black pepper for white pepper since I didn’t have any. As far as the actual recipe goes I wasn’t impressed. I mean it tasted good, but using the packet that comes with the noodles and chopped veggies is good too. And less work. It didn’t taste like Panda Express Noodles either. So....

Avocado Pasta (From the Damn Delicious Cookbook)- I don’t have a fancy blender so I couldn’t pour the olive oil while blending (or else I would have avocado all over the place) which may have effected the ease with which I could get the sauce out of the blender. However, flavor wise I have no complaints. Avocados and tomatoes are such a great pair. And this certainly looks fancier than it is.

Everything about this cookbook is awesome.

With a mix of healthy choices and comfort food, this cookbook speaks to my desire to eat delicious things, but not destroy my body in the process. It manages to do this without being preachy or self-righteous or requiring me to shop at high-end grocery stores that will devour my entire paycheck (like many other healthy eating cookbooks I have read as of late.)

The recipes require simple ingredients, and does not rely on either heavily processed foods or difficult to procure items. The strangest kitchen device is a spiralizer, which isn't too strange at all. [*adds one to Amazon wish list*].

This is the cookbook for the everyman, recommended for those who are interested in starting to cook easier, healthier meals at home without having to make drastic kitchen changes.

Also, let me take a moment to mention that I love the layout, photos, font choices, and even the feel of the cover.

I'm serious. I love everything about this book. Enjoy it.

I'm so happy this food blogger has finally put out a cookbook! Chungah Rhee has an amazing personality as do her dogs. The recipes are amazing! I have personally made quite a few of them. They are fantastic and easily put together.

The name of her blog, Damn Delicious, couldn't be more fitting for the name of her cookbook. I look forward to seeing what she comes up with next as well as future cookbooks.

I stumbled upon the Damn Delicious blog through Pinterest and pretty much everything I tried was great. So, I was very excited to see an actual cookbook from Damn Delicious! There were lots of new recipes and some of the favorites from the blog. Overall, just like the blog there is no way you can't find something yummy and easy to make from this cookbook!

~3.5 stars~

I was an avid follower of the Damn Delicious blog, and my sister got me the cookbook a few years back. I've really enjoyed trying all the recipes, and making notes about what I liked and what I didn't.

Food is super personal, so my opinion on the recipes might not count for much. I will say the layout is good, the Asian-inspired meals are usually great, and I really enjoyed a lot of it. However, quite a few of the Euro dishes were super bland, missing the full array of spices that are usually used. Also, I definitely missed a few times where the recipe called for pre-cooked rice or chicken, or marinating for a day - it threw my timing off whenever I missed something like that as it's not always super obvious if you're just skimming the recipe before grocery shopping.

All in all, I will definitely continue using a large chunk of these recipes and the blog as well.

I found every recipe in this book easy to follow and delicious. I tried several of the recipes (around 10), and every one of them was a hit at my house. Most are pretty healthy, and have ingredients easily found at my local grocery store. Most of the spices I already had on hand, and I love the fact that she uses lots of fresh veggies in her recipes. I follow the author's blog, which is how I discovered this book. I borrowed it from my local library, but now that I know I love the recipes, I plan to purchase the book as I prefer a hard copy of a recipe than just one online.
I also plan to buy several copies, and give them as gifts to new brides or extended family members.

This was a great cookbook with all recipes being from scratch and healthy for you. Best part a lot of them look good, are practical and will be easy and not take too long to cook. I didn't find enough ideas in here personally that I have to buy myself the book, but there were quite a few that I will take away and try later. Some I already knew, so if you are newer to cooking healthy from scratch this would be a good place to start.

I enjoy checking out cookbooks from the library to see if they might be worth a purchase.
And this one is a resounding YES!

The pages are filled with recipes I would, actually, fix for my family.
Most ingredients would be found at the local grocery store, which is helpful.
The meals seem quick and easy! {bonus for me, because I despise complicated recipes}

I'm adding this one to my 'to be purchased' list!

With a new baby at home, I'd been looking for quick, yummy, fairly healthy dinner recipes, and this book has delivered some great ones. So far, I've made: One-pot Zucchini Mushroom Pasta, Easy Burrito Bowls with Chipotle Cream Sauce, Beef and Broccoli Bowls (substituting veggie burger), and Slow Cooker Honey-garlic Chicken and Veggies (substituting maple syrup for honey). All keepers!

This book would be great for people cooking on their own for the first time. There are a lot of simple recipes like tortilla pizzas. If you have more cooking experience you might still get some good simple ideas out of it for fun dishes like fried egg rolls. I was a bit surprised by how many fried recipes there are but this isn’t a health food cookbook and there are plenty of healthy recipes too.

This writer’s recipes do not seem well-tested and are often lacking in basic instructions. Her blog deletes all negative reviews, so I guess that is why its recipes get higher ratings than they deserve. Really surprised it got made into a book, it really does not seem worth buying when the content is so weak.

The recipes in this book really are simple, but delicious. Whether it’s the accessibility of ingredients, preparation, or cooking technique.

I used this to help find staple meals for our family that we could come back to time and time again. This is great for this reason, and has been a frequent gift to friends who have purchased their first home.

I love the Damn Delicious blog, so I thought I would love the cook book, too. I did not find many recipes I was interested in, and I immediately went back to the blog and found a ton there that I do enjoy. I would suggest to skip the cookbook and enjoy her blog.

Lots of tasty, easy looking recipes here—I’m looking forward to trying them out. I don’t own a slow cooker, but am hoping I can improvise with the recipes in that chapter.
For the record, I won a copy of this from Cut Out & Keep

It's becoming clear that to meet my 2018 reading goal I'm going to have to start getting liberal with what I generally consider "reading." Just got this cookbook and I've made some of the recipes from her blog and feel like these will be great!

Notes while perusing the recipes -Many interesting sounding recipes. I made the cauliflower potato mash in slow cooker and was disappointed (too strong of a cauliflower flavor, husband didn't liek it either) but my friend liked it. still deciding what to try next...
