Note: The decision was made to consolidate all Disney publications under the name Walt Disney Company. This profile is for Walt Disney, the characters he created, and the company he founded. Any questions, please ask in the Librarian's Group.
Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.
Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.
Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.
The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.
Is this the best book ever? No. Do I cherish the moments I was able to carve out of my shifts to read this to a patient who has endeared themselves to me? Absolutely.
This was wonderful. I loved all the stories especially the one about Peter Pan and Sleeping Beauty (they're my favorite). They say they're 5-minute stories and doing the math the whole book should have taken me around an hour, but I finished the entire thing in under forty minutes. That being said, I read these to myself and I'm a fast reader. If I were to read this out loud or to a child, it would most likely take longer. The illustrations are wonderful like typical Disney illustrations, but it was nice to see aspects of the Disney realm I haven't seen before, especially Christmas-fied (my own word). The stories are not from the main movies or any Disney Christmas movie I've seen so I would like to think these are original stories, but since I'm not up to date with all the Disney movies/shows I'm not sure if they're original or not. Overall this book is worth a read and if you or your child or any child is a fan of Disney, you and them will enjoy these stories. I loved them.
This is a beautiful, vibrant collection of Disney Christmas stories that we find ourselves reading all year round. My son likes the Wall-E, Cars, and Monsters Inc. stories so much that I never get a chance to read him the other ones. My favorite thing about it is that the stories are all originals and not just regurgitations of the films.

Everyone loves the 5-Minute Stories series! It's very popular among our public library patrons of all ages. Great for lovers of Disney. Perfect for storytimes (although a little longer) or bedtime stories.
Cute 5 minute christmas stories from all our favourite Disney Movies that send messages to the children about what christmas is really about. Who you spend christmas with :)
This is a very nice collection of Disney and Pixar Christmas short stories. There are 12 stories total featuring Mickey Mouse, Walle, Peter Pan and Wendy, Alice in Wonderland, 101 Dalmatians, Mike and Sully, Winnie the Pooh, Aurora, Lady and the Tramp, Mater, Pinocchio, and Cinderella. I really enjoyed the stories from Alice in Wonderland, 101 Dalmatians, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Cars. I loved Aurora's purple Christmas dress, Cinderella's giving spirit, and the reindeer snowmobiles in Mater's story from Cars. One downside was I expected a little bit more from some stories such as the Winnie and Pooh one was rather simple. Also, there were a few typos in the rush of trying to get this published, but just the parents will probably notice these!
It’s really cute. They’re full of Christmas stories all around/about Disney cartoon movies/shows. It’s a great read for a young child (about 4-8) years old who’s reading or starting to read. Great book to read to your child. Great Christmas book. Your child would probably get into the Christmas spirit once they read this book.
Very cute Christmas stories and vibrant illustrations for young listeners to readers. Shows different traditions of how some of our favorite Disney characters celebrate.
Such cute little Disney Christmas stories. I read a story each night really right before bed. They were the perfect bedtime stories for this time of year
I enjoyed reading these short stories to my niece. I’m in love with the classic animation style of the pictures, and Winnie the Pooh has got to be my favorite story in here ❤️🎄🍯
Quick, cute, festive stories featuring some of my favorite Disney characters. I dont love the slight deviations from cannon however all can be forgiven in the spirit of Christmas.
This is another of our Christmas advent books. We only read one story for bedtime and saved the others for story time today. This book contains 12 different stories, each only 5 minutes long. Perfect for the attention span of small children. Each one features different Disney characters, adding another bit of fun. What child doesn't enjoy Disney? The stories are the following:
1. Mickey & Friends: Santa's Little Helper 2. WALL-E: A Gift for WALL-E 3. Peter Pan: Christmas in Never Land 4. Alice in Wonderland: A Present for the Queen 5. 101 Dalmatians: Snow Puppies 6. Monsters Inc.: Christmas in Monstropolis 7. Winnie the Pooh: Merry Christmas, Winnie the Pooh 8. Sleeping Beauty: Aurora's Homemade Holiday 9. Lady & the Tramp: Christmas Traditions 10. Cars: Mater Saves Christmas 11. Pinocchio: A Meowy Christmas 12. Cinderella: A Perfect Party

Very excellent collection of all of children's Favorite 'recent' Disneys friends all having Christmas! What could be greater? All these stories are easy to read and follow and of course illustrations are great as usual. Very fun to read out loud to my adult special needs son. We both enjoyed the fact that it was friends we already knew but new stories about them and then added in on a favorite holiday...perfect.
