A Sci-Fi Alien Warrior Paranormal Romance

Lorraine Franklin has always been something of an eccentric person. She works in an antique store and was raised by a man who believed in everything from vampires to alien wizards, so she has a healthy sense of wonder about the world and enjoys being who she is, even if it means that she’s lonely and doesn’t have anyone to share her life with.

But when a group of strangers start hanging out around her store, asking about an item that she’s never heard of before, and doesn’t even think she has, she’s going to realize that some of her father’s fantasy stories were indeed very real. The strangers are warrior guards from another planet, and the item they’re looking for belonged to their late king, given to the previous owner of the shop, her father, for safekeeping. The only problem is, Lorraine has no idea where the item ended up, and her father’s dead.

When she finds out that the item could literally mean life or death for the late king’s followers, under the rule of a new, tyrannical king, she’ll throw herself headlong into helping, and maybe find love along the way.

This A Sci-Fi Alien Warrior Paranormal Romance has action, adventure and romance around every turn.

CAUTION: Includes hot sex scenes and intense action! 18 or older.

I love a good alien/sci-fi romance. When I saw that this was offered as a kindleunlimited I had to check it out. Here's my breakdown:

The pros:
* Offered as a kindleunlimited
* There was a bonus book included - I had no desire to check it out, but it was still a nice gesture

The cons:
* The aliens were boring. Nothing special at all. No unique traits, physical features etc. Basically, the hero felt like any average human hero. Which, sadly made this book 99% romance and 1% sci-fi. It defiantly did not feel like an alien sci-fi romance.
* I HATED how the hero reference other women he had "bedded" in the past. It made his sexual encounters with the heroine seem ordinary and less special. At one point, as he is going down on her, the hero actually mentally notes that she likes oral sex just like all the other females he had bedded and he was pleased with this. I don’t want to hear about other women he's been intimate with - especially while he is getting it on with the heroine. It made me think less of the hero. The sexual interactions between the two lacked chemistry and passion because of this.
* Very predictable plot
* Bland and one dimensional character development
* Lame ending - it had a HFN feel to it, but no real closure
* major insta-love feel to it

Overall, I wasn’t a fan of this read. I may check out more of this writers work out at a future date, but I won't be continuing this particular series.

This author is hit or miss for me.
The science fiction was vague regarding spacecraft, weapons, and physical characteristics so that the alien hero felt like a foreigner, not from space. The backstories were good but once the characters met it devolved into detailed sexual encounters that made the romance too fast paced to be believable. I was disappointed in the thin plot and the lack of science fiction.
This would have worked better as a paranormal fantasy than science fiction.

mature content, oral sex

Kindle Unlimited. I'm getting pretty tired of choosing what looks to be a 200-300 page story and it ends up being 2 or more fairly short books. I like some length and depth to my books and I'd probably pass if I'd known I'd only be getting 100-ish pages. Sigh.

Anyway. First Contact wasn't too bad even though I felt like the middle of the story dragged on and the end wrapped up waaaay too easily.

No... this isn't a light-saber... it's an energy-dagger! phbtttt!
Aliens look just like humans. Spaceships have windows. Some king thought it was wise to store the "key" to the kingdom in a second-hand shop.... and they all lived happily ever after.

Aliens arrive looking for an artifact left for safe keeping in an antique store. The original owner of the shop has died. Love story develops between the current shop owner and an alien warrior. Of course, it doesn't go smoothly or it wouldn't make for interesting reading.

This story caught me off guard. I wasn't sure what I expected but I am so glad that I read it. I was drawn into a world that was intriguing and different from the norm, and I became engrossed between the developing relationship of these characters. Lorraine and Apollo bloom throughout this story and this was one happy ending that I had tears of happiness after. Great story.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this story I felt that the two main characters Apollo and Lorraine has good chemistry in and out of the bedroom. The plot of the story was good and it didn't feel too rushed. I think it is a good quick read and definitely worth the time.
