Detective Faye-Lynn’s worst nightmare has transpired! Her beau is a major suspect in a homicide case; the case she’s put on. There is controversy on whether Eastman was murdered by an acquaintance or a drug contract gone sour. The big question is; who really killed Eastman? At first all were fair game in the suspect arena, when the body of Larry’s childhood friend was discovered, but the clues narrowing it down started to become more evident. Tag along with Dennis Wilson as he leads you into the Projects, where seemingly innocent children in a Bicycle Gang ultimately develop into one of the major drug rings on the East Coast. This was a thought-provoking novel and it held my attention throughout. Author, Ricky Corum did a great job of keeping the real perpetrator under wraps until the finale. Hats off to a suspenseful page turner! Looking forward to read more of his work.

I really liked this story, reminiscent of a Dennis Lehane book. In this book the author introduces reader to The Bicycle gang. The story goes back and forth reminiscing about the gang when they were young and now. In the present, murder and bank robberies are going to bring the members of the gang back into focus and readers are going to love the suspense and great writing of this author. Although there are a lot of characters in this books, the author weaves a tale that keeps them straight and I think readers will love to follow along with The Bicycle gang, then and now.

As the story develops, you become involved with the characters and the relationship they have formed for life from the beginning in a bicycle gang. A very enjoyable book that reminds all of us of our childhood and how close some of were to following in the footsteps of these gang members.

"A crazy nightmare."

A totally absorbing tale of the lives of a group.of youngsters with little else going for them, drawn together in close friendship through a club, the Bicycle Gang. Their story is told by one of the member, Dennis Wilson, known as Sticks, who joined the gang aged 12, married and became a father at 16, divorced at 17, returning to his hometown and his friends after being drafted. Moving between the present and an ongoing murder investigation of one of the gang's most loved members, and the past life stories of each of the 'family' of members, the whole sad story feels both real and inevitable. These characters became real people generating genuine emotional responses in this reader.

Only one irritation with this audio - why, when the story is told by an insider, Sticks, as both boy then man about a group comprising, with one exception, of youths is the book's narrator female? Seems silly to me. Cassandra Arnold did a reasonable job of reading but it jarred each time she referred to herself as Sticks. Perhaps it is because she narrated the earlier book in this series, the Faye-Lynn Johnson Mysteries, Johnson being a detective who also appears in this book.

My thanks to the rights holders of The Bicycle Gang, who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy.
This is a riveting stand alone read and recommended

The Bicycle Gang tell of the nitty gritty story of growing up on the poor side of the tracks. I love how it tells the truth how a kid can go from petty theft to grand larceny when they don't have anyone to admire and steer them onto the right path. This storyline deals with kids who grow up fighting to survive the mean streets and how some overcome the odds while others do not. I really enjoyed listening to how each member of the gang started and how they turned out as adults. Cassandra Arnold does a great job as narrator. This is my honest unbiased review that I am voluntarily leaving of my own volition.

I really enjoyed listening to this book and it came across as very intelligently written with a lot of emotional intelligence re the gang. The different timelines really helped in this. The ending was well done how the author gave a summary of the gang.

The story was well narrated and suited the story line and characters. It took me a while to get into it but once I did it was okay and it flowed.

Cassandra Arnold was the reason I listened to the book. I felt the back and forth between past and present was not laid out well. It made following the book confusing.
