Tom Hadley is god's gift to women. Known as the "Lady Killer" ,he makes women panties drop in 3.6 seconds or less. Not wearing any? Better for him. But all of that changes when he gets a certain package causing him to track down every woman he's recently been with. I found this part quite hilarious and no it's not what you're thinking. After a hit and run leaves him with the ability to no longer fight,he's unofficially boxing's fallen star.
" My whole life is a lie to those on the outside".
Gem is on the run.Barely escaping her abusive ex,her number one instinct is to keep moving. She never stays in the same place longer than she has to and always looks over her shoulder. Walking into Tommy's gym to start her workout training, she gets the shock of her lifetime. What do you do when you see the one person that you've hurt in a past life but they don't know it?
"Guilt is a strange beast. It only heightens my attraction to him. Makes me want him more, when I shouldn't want him at all. Or maybe, it's that he makes me forget what I'm running, hiding from".
I liked that this story was different and the first half was refreshing. I've said this before and I'll say it again, I'm not a fan of insatlove/lust. These two moved too fast for my liking and it didn't make it seem real. I wanted them to take a little bit more time and not rush everything. My problem was that it was too fast for me.

I loved this one. It was just the right amount of sassy and sexy all rolled into one.
'You haven't answered my question.' She twists in her seat. 'Yes it's pierced.' Ugh. Yes put-lease!
'Still, you're a teddy bear. You're like the most amenable dildo a woman could ask for.'
Ah hell. He even has one of his nipples pierced.
Just kill me now with all this smoldering going on in this. Bejesus.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
It's slow in the beginning but it picked up near the end.
Tom received a package stating he is the father to a mystery woman in his past. If you want to find out about it.......read it ;).
Gem was running from one place to the other. Constantly looking over her shoulder and then she lands herself in Reverence. Well she her past had up with her and guess who is saving her?!??
“I think I’ve been in love with you from the moment you walked into my gym. I haven’t been able to get you out of my head, or my heart, since. I want to share my food with you, fight with you, and tease you about your dislike of candy, chocolate, and coffee, which I still struggle to believe, by the way. And I want to practice making babies with you, often. Every day, even, until we do make our own babies. Then I want to grow old with you.” He holds the ring in front of the finger I’m holding out for him. “Do you think you could handle me when I’m too old to be good for anything other than whining about how my brother once shot me in the leg?”
I am in love with this series!!!! Gah I cannot get enough of the Hadley Family. Tom AKA Lady Killer has moved on from his boxing career and now owns a gym to continue along the lines of dream. But what happens when Gem walks through his gym doors? Gem is a rough and tough kind of girl who is on the run and scared. Gem fights to get passed all her demons. They both kept secrets and i loved when they were all finally out on the table and work through their issues together. But will Gem run away from everything that Tom has helped her to overcome or does she stay?
Sooo cannot wait for Mace's story and more from Misti. Great series to read!!
** Kindly received a copy in exchange for an honest review.**
Oh. My. It was so long since I laughed out loud reading a book. It felt so good to finally have the time to cozy up to a series and its characters. I think I chose the right books for that.
The second book definitely outshone the first. The characters' struggles and problems on both sides felt more real, lifelike. Since everyone is still living in that amazing house everyone is always present and I love the brothers teasing each other, spicing up the whole story.
Not a perfect book, but for me, for now, it gave me what I needed and I am soooo glad I continued after the first one.
New review since reading Prick Tease -- Book 2! -- 5 stars! Thank you Misti so much for sending the first release over after reading my review. I know everything there is to know and its oh so good! I will be stalking you for the next release. MACE! -- YES! I have a feeling its going to be a doozie!
Once again here is a really good story that I have missed the first release! Prick Tease is the first in this series of standalones BUT I highly suggest you read it. Im going back to click it up now but lets move onto Lady Killer; the story of the Tom “Lady Killer” Hadley and Gemma. This is a really good story and Im anxious for the next!
The Hadley clan consist of Claire, soon to be brother in law Razer Bennington, Tom, Mace, honorary sister Chelsea Taylor, and a mysterious brother Rush. Again, Im not sure if there is a back story I missed on him so if there is someone let me know please!
Tom Hadley has returned to Reverence. His boxing career shattered by a hit and run. No one knows who the driver was nor the mysterious girl who called his name before being hit. No one saw anything or no one is talking. Opening his own gym has grounded Tom along with a secret package with nothing more than a positive pregnancy test. Going down his list of one nighters, Tom is determined to find the person that sent him the package. Until then all bets are off in the “Lady Killer’s bed …. at least he thought it was until the most stunning woman walks into his gym, uninterested, and a total mystery. Gem claims to know him but why doesn’t he remember her and more so … why is she so afraid?
Gemma Castle is on the run. Making herself into a new person in each town she never dreamed she would end up standing face to face with Tommy. Gemma has to get out as soon as possible. Brining danger to his doorstep again is not the answer and not what he needs. Jimmy Santiago will never let her go much less care who he has to go through to get to her. Putting the Hadley family in danger isn’t an option … if only she could walk away from this man … if only she could stay running.
Tom finding out that Santiago is the one responsible for Gem running he will protect her with everything he has … Along with the rest of the Hadley clan, they are all going to make sure Santiago never touches her again.
OMGOSH … this is sooo good. My 4 star instead of 5 is because I felt out of touch with what I had missed and you all know I dont like that. I reserve the right to come back and change the rating after reading Prick Tease! LOL! ... There is continued drama and mystery, nail biting events and much much more. Bring on the next Misty. Oh my lawd Im ready. In the mean time Im heading backwards to the first book. Thank you for the ARC! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
Misti Murphy has done again, with yet another great read with the perfect amount of everything to have me pages turning like a crazy person. It is no surprise, if you know my reading choices alpha men are up there wtih my favs, and Lady Killer is another I can add to my favorites.
We met Tom Hadley in Prick Tease which is the book, previous to this one. Although these are standalone books I would suggest checking out Prick Tease to get more of the Hadley clan and their history.
Tom has returned to Reverence and opened his own gym after being forced to give up boxing due to a hit and run that ended his run as Tom "Harbinger " Hadley, god's gift to boxing and almost his life. He is still hot candy to the women of Reverence but when he receives a positive pregnancy test in the post, all work with his favorite appendage is off the board.... until he comes face to face with a gorgeous woman in his gym. Her knowledge of who he is/ was has him even more intrigued. Day one and she has him on tender hooks.
Gemma Castle had been on the run for what seems is forever. A new town, a new hair colour and a new name is the only way to keep her safe from Santiago, another former boxer who not only physically abused her but emotionally as well. The best way to keep herself, and her loved ones safe is to stay on the run. That is until she tuns into Tom again, her traitorous body wants and remembers him, but her head doesn't want to be another one of Tom's girls.
Although she tries to walk away it is Tom who persues her, not giving a inch... He feels something for her and won't be the one let her run away or be threatened by whomever is after her. Once Tom finds out that Santiago is the one responsible for her real life game of hide and seek, him along with the other Hadley brothers, Mace, Rush and in law Razer will do anything and everything to keep Gem safe.
But when Santiago makes his presence known, punches are thrown, shots are fired and lives are ended, will Tom and Gemma get that happy ever after or will her worst enemy take everything from her?
I'm now anxiously awaiting the next book in this series, and Mace's story... these books get better and better each time. Can't wait for Mace and a baby hahaha!
I received an ARC for an honest review of Lady Killer by Misti Murphy
This story about Tom aka "the Lady Killer" and Gem a former ring girl and princess to a wealthy family. These two are have been connected since Gem reached out to him years ago, asking for help. Now she's back in his life, his gym, his bed and needing his protection and help again. But by revealing the truth she must reveal herself and so must he. Even the secrets and the mistakes from their pasts. The Hadley family is a phenomenal group of characters and I'm anxious to find out Mace's story.
I really love the Hadleys and I think I liked this one even better than the first book in the series. Tom and Gemma were a great couple and the story was interesting! I'd say this one is more of a 3 and a half stars, pushed to a 4.
Since I have recently gotten back into reading, I was checking out some books on my TBR list and came across this steamy little piece of fiction and realized that I had not read two of the books in the Tangled Desire series and since I love Misti Murphy's work, I knew I had to remedy that and quick. So here I am getting cozy with the Hadley family again and all their forbidden relationships and hidden desires. I couldn't wait to spend some special time with a hottie ex-fighter and a mysterious girl who couldn't run fast enough from her past. It wasn't long and Misti had me wrapped up in her little fictional cocoon with Tom and Gemma filled with deceit, heat, and so much more!
Tom Hadley is all muscle with a soft heart and a kindness like no other, so to say he is a knight in shining armor is understatement. I have read about two other Hadley men and he is by far the one who has tugged on my heartstrings the most. He is the perfect combination of sensitive with a side of alpha and I could definitely see why he was nicknamed Lady Killer and I knew that Gemma wouldn't be able to resist him for long.
Gemma Castle was an interesting heroine and I loved getting to peel away her many layers and learn all of her deepest secrets that have kept her feet running and her heart under lock and key for way too long. She has the heart of a fighter and the soul of a survivor and I couldn't wait for her to experience not only the heat but the joy and love that Tom could and would give her.
Being back in the Hadley world and getting between the sheets with Tom and Gemma is just the fictional escape I needed and helped me to remember how much I truly enjoy Misti Murphy's writing. I highly recommend Lady Killer and the rest of the Tangled Desire series for just the right amount of scorch and angst. Now if you will excuse me, it's time for me to go back to the beginning and snuggle up with Claire and Razer because I am not ready to leave this fictional world just yet.
This is a classic example of the first book in a series having a good premise that carries the book... and then you realize in the second book that the writing borderlines on not good and that the author is pretty much writing the same scenes over and over with different characters. To also be fair, I’m not a big fan of the premise of this one — mysterious girl in danger for mysterious reasons. That probably didn’t help but I finished it.
To save you some time, you might be thinking that you’ve read the first two in the series, might as well finish it. Don’t. The third book is just awful and it had such potential to be a great story. I won’t even review it seperate OT because it’s that bad.

I'm just digging this series. I loved the first book in the series, and this one made me feel all warm and squishy inside. And er....warm and squishy er...other places. This couple had serious chemistry.
I liked the slight twist at the end for our "Lady Killer".
I enjoyed this one. It was sweet. I loved digging deeper into Tom, finding out more about him and what he was really doing, what he was made of. Gemma has been running for so long and their lives are very much entwines but Tom has no idea. The attraction is instant when they finally really see each other. It builds and builds until everything crashes down. Great book!
I liked Tom's story, how he figures out the secrets Gem's been keeping. The trust she shows in his family, and how his family welcomed her into their fold. We were left, at the end of book 1 with a mystery dealing with Tom; which finally gets answered. This one has a happy ending, and starts getting you ready for book 3.
After reading the synopsis of the book, I wasn't excited to read it. I had read book 1 of the series and was just trying to read the books in sequence so I could get to book 3. I ended up REALLY liking this book. Tom was so in love with Gemma. On to book 3 now!
Misti Murphy has given us another sexy and sweet Hadley man to fall in love with in this second installment of the Tangled Desires series. This book can be read as a stand-alone BUT I highly recommend reading the series in order to get the biggest bang for your buck. You’ll want to fall in love and be swept up in the love and closeness of this family. And how all of their stories intertwine and develop throughout each book.
In the first book, I started to love Tom as he opened his house up to Claire, Razer and Mace when they all needed a helping hand or a roof over their head. He was so happy and excited for them to visit. I also loved that when the family discovered the truth about Claire and Razer, Tom totally supported them and took it in stride. I think he had his suspicions about them all along. And when we found out about “pee-stick Cinderella” I honestly felt bad for him – and that’s where we start this book.
Tom “Harbinger” Hadley had it all – magnetic and glamorous boxing career, women flaunting themselves all over him, living life in the limelight with plenty of support and endorsements. Until a fateful night where he was simply trying to help a girl in need when his life took an unexpected turn after a hit and run. That fateful night ended his career and took him back home to the place where he grew up in Reverence. He had to figure out how to start over on his own but he found a way to be the closest he could to the boxing world without being in the ring himself: he opened his own gym.
And while others thought he was a playboy with women in and out of his bed even after his career ended, Tom harbored the truth from almost everyone. He wasn’t really the person that the media portrayed him as – he lived two lives and rarely let people see the real him. But life has a way of blindsiding you when you least expect it – in Tom’s case, a positive pregnancy test is mailed to his home anonymously and we have the predicament of “pee-stick Cinderella.” Tom vows to find out if he’s going to be a father by approaching the women he’s slept with and to avoid any temptation of another woman until he knows the truth about his future.
Enter Gemma Castle! Gemma has been on the run for a long time and never staying in one place too long. Her own family doesn’t even know where she is and the only communication she has with them is when she calls and listens without ever saying a word then hanging up. She had a plan in life to go to college and become a veterinarian but her life was turned upside down when she meet Santiago – a man in the boxing world who literally took over her life. He turned her into a boxing ring girl and she knew who Tom “Harbinger” Hadley was and what kind of reputation he had. So fate had a sick and sadistic way of putting her right in his path again when she walked into his gym.
Tom was instantly attracted to Gemma as she didn’t put up with his smooth talking ways and put him in his place. And he couldn’t place her in his boxing career but she sure seemed to know a lot about him and said she was a part of it. This intrigued him even more. The more Gemma fought to stay away from him, the more Tom was drawn to her like a moth to a flame. He knew she was running from something and he wanted to protect her. He just didn’t realize that he was protecting her from someone he once knew and that person was also someone who changed his entire world.
I liked this story and I loved both main characters. But I found their relationship to be too insta-love and I wasn’t drawn into the story and captured by their love as much as I wanted to be. This story had more drama and suspense in it with the story of how Tom and Gemma’s paths had crossed before in the boxing circuit and how Gemma was running from someone in her past who also was part of Tom’s past. The secrets that Tom and Gemma kept from one another brought angst to the story and were fleshed out in timely manner.
The ending gave me a huge smile and a little chuckle! Gemma has finally came into her own and isn’t hiding at all anymore – she totally tells you exactly what she wants.
And we are left with a huge need for the next story in the series. We finally found out who “pee-stick Cinderella” is in this story but she’s not Tom’s Cinderella at all – another Hadley has some explaining to do to his family and to the girl whose carrying his baby. Oh, Mace, how I can’t wait to see more of your cocky ways!
“You’re thinking about my cock, aren’t you? Wondering what exactly I’m packing.” She gasps, but she doesn’t let go of my shirt. “Something nasty, no doubt. After all you’re the one who said it’s out of commission.” I chuckle. “I’m willing to make an exception for you.” “And every other girl.” “Just you, pretty girl.”
Lady Killer is the second book to a series called Tangled Desires by Misti Murphy. This book is about two people who has a complicated situation in their lives that either’s have them on the run or searching for someone. They end up meeting one another, and their lives get even more complicated.
Enter Gemma, Gemma is part-time veterinarian who is on the run for her life from her ex-boyfriend trying to kill her. Running from place to place she is force to change her name so that she stays under the radar. Signing up to a gym to release some stress, she didn’t expect to run into is Tom Hadley. Feeling more than attracted to him, she knows she cannot let herself fall for his charms, or let him get involved in her mess of a life.
"I must have zoned out completely. He’s staring at me like he’s been waiting ages for an answer. “I really don’t think it’s a good idea. Besides, I have somewhere to be.” “Are you driving?” “N-no.” Why won’t he take no for an answer? “Well, we’ll walk you then.” Apparently, I’m going to have to deal with Tom Hadley and his dog a little while longer,” Who doesn’t like a determined man especially one hot and refuses to take no for an answer.
Well ladies and gent. I give you Tom Hadley.
Tom Hadley, known as the Lady Killer, and the Harbinger is an ex-boxer, who lost his career because of a hit and run. But that doesn’t stop him from being successful. Now back at his hometown he owns his own gym, and still gets ladies. But the one woman he wants is putting up a hell of a fight. With other complications already in his life, should he really be adding hers as well?
This book is amazing, when you first read start to read it, it grabs your attention right away. The author tends to switch between the two characters, so that you’re able to see from both of their view points. There are some twists and turns in the book that will surprise you, and make you laugh. I enjoyed the book and will be searching for the first book as well as the next one after this one. I advise you that when you read this book be somewhere, that no one will bother you. You won’t want to stop reading once you begin.
From the minute I see her I know I’m looking at trouble.
What a great read. I only wish I would have started with book 1: Prick Tease.
We meet Tom who is currently trying to find his mystery pee-stick lady. He is working down the list of women he has been with to see which one is pregnant. He has sworn to celibacy. He is a retired boxer due to a career ending injury and has opened his own gym.
Tom sees Gemma (Gem) at his gym and is immediately drawn to her, she is different than the other girls. Gem recognizes Tom and hopes that he doesn’t remember who she is. Gem is currently on the run from her ex boyfriend, and is trying to avoid people and relationships.
Tom of course pursues Gem and eventually gets through to her and she opens up to him on who she’s running from. How will Tom react to the secret that Gem is keeping? Will Tom and his brothers be able to protect her? Will Gem and Tom have their HEA?
“I was coming to get you, pretty girl.” “You don’t get to bolt from me, ever.”
I cannot wait until the next book in the series. Mace’s story should be great. While I’m waiting for “Cocky F@#ker, I’m going backwards to read Prick Tease!. Thank you Misti Murphy for a great read and a great series.
ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed by MAustin from Alpha Book Club
I received an ARC of this book for my honest review. There may be some spoilers in this review so continue reading at your own risk. This is a follow up novel to Murphy's previous book, Prick Tease. The series follows the Hadley family. Prick Tease was about the only girl, Claire and this one follows the youngest boy, Tom. It follows Tom and Gemma and alternates their point of views. Tom is a gym owner who was previously a professional boxer and Gemma is a girl on the run, new to town and reminds Tom of his previous life as a boxer. Throughout the book both of their secrets slowly unravel. I really enjoyed this book for the most part. I really like Tom. He is caring, sweet and of course insanely attractive. He has the reputation of a womanizer but not the personality to match. What I really disliked about the book was Gemma. She was ok however she did not want to trust Tom even after she works out in her mind that she trusts him. There is a huge problem in the end which causes Gemma to flee. In my opinion at this point in the book she should have known better and Tom is way too forgiving. Overall it was a nice quick read. I did like Prick Tease more and I look forward to the next one. This one to me was a necessary bridge to get from the first book to the next.
As I suspected, I loved this book! I have yet to come across a book of Misti’s that I’m not a fan of. I loved both main characters! Tom’s family was a riot to have around, as well. I got a kick out of the names. All of Tom’s brothers have these unique, tough sounding names, and then you have Tom. Kind of the weak sounding name of the bunch, but his actions spoke louder than his name. The resistance Gemma showed was great! She had secrets that involved Tom, which makes for an interesting plot. Distance was key for her. Is it wrong that I take pleasure in a male getting punched in the balls when he’s a bit too forward. It was a laugh out loud moment for me. There were multiple laugh out loud moments, especially regarding the siblings.
I think the book would have been just as good without the pregnancy aspect. It seemed kind of separate from the main storyline. There were multiple times I was so into the story that I forgot about it. By the end of the book, I see why it was brought up. It leads to a semi-cliffhanger, but not involving the main storyline. I’ll definitely be reading the next book. I was hoping it would be turned into a series, considering each of the siblings could definitely have their own story!
This is the second instalment of Misti Murphy's Tangled Desires series.
It is wonderful to continue following the same set of characters, and check back in with ones from the previous instalment, which gives this short book more depth and those good, fuzzy happy ending feelings. It's just a shame that the characters are so unbelievably self-absorbed in their pasts, which I personally feel just are not developed enough to keep referring back to every single page. I understand that the events need to be revealed to the reader slowly throughout, but I find it frustrating that every other page simply references "the accident" or the mysterious Santiago, just so we as readers cannot forget them. Similarly, because of the short length of the book, all the important events occur very quickly - it feels unbalanced, like too much build up of the relationship but no focus at all on the rest of these people's lives until the last ten pages.
Overall, an enjoyable lite-romance read that suffers from its short length and lack of development.
