I’m Blake McQueen, daughter of Miles McQueen: businessman, politician, all around upstanding member of the community.

I’m told that name means something, but well, I’ve pretty much doused it in petrol, set it on fire, and taken a shit on it for good measure. I like to think of myself as a walking middle finger.

My name is now synonymous with booze, parties, sex, and drugs. I have to read the newspaper in the morning just to see where I was, possibly who I fucked, and judge my state of inebriation based on how much tit or minge is splashed across page five.

Judge me all you like, love me, hate me. I don’t give a fuck.

Life’s a party and you should never stop dancing.

But even the sweetest of highs has it’s low. There is only so high you can go before you fall, and fall I did, right into the arms of the only man that could possibly stop me from crashing and burning. I’ve always been untouchable. I’ve never cared enough to be touchable. Until now.

Love is the most destructive drug of all.

::::: Unpopular opinion alert!! :::::

This was my forth book by this author and despite the fact this one was a total bust for me, I know it won’t be my last. I like this author’s writing style and I enjoyed her other books, but sadly “High” didn’t work for me at all. Since I’m in minority with my opinion I think this was a clear case of it’s not you, it’s me. That being said, I have to say I truly wanted and also tried to enjoy this story especially since this book started out so strong to me.

The story fallows, Blake McQueen, the daughter of Minister of Justice in England who refuses to live by her family’s society rules. Her parents don’t give a f@ck about her. They want for her to be ‘a good, obedient girl’ and not to mess with her father’s career. Blake tries to escape everything there is to escape in her life, through drugs and sex, partying several times a week in places and with people she doesn’t know. She’s constantly the star of every newspaper and her new goal is to piss her father as much as she can.

Rhett Torres is Blake’s opposite in every way. He comes from a dysfunctional family and if the rumors are true, he’s a dangerous man. From the moment Rhett meets Blake, he’s taken aback by her beauty and by her ‘colorful’ personality. He knows Blake’s behavior is destructive to say the least, but he still wants her. To save his only family member he needs Blake, butt sh*ts hits the fan when Blake realizes Rhett hides something very important from her.

Like I said above I really tried to like this one more, but unfortunately I couldn’t. I’m aware of the fact I’m in minority so I know many readers will enjoy this book more than I did. To be honest I barely find something to like. The story had a lot of potential…for me. I liked the premise, but IMO the execution was not so bright. The story line was sooo boring to me. I actually fall asleep. I kid you not! It was that boring. Yes, I have to admit in the beginning the story was pretty gripping, until it wasn’t and I actually forced myself to continue.

The heroine, Blake wasn’t a likeable heroine at all. So be prepared to dislike her from the start. I wasn’t bothered by the fact that she wears all of her slutiness on her sleeve. No! I actually enjoyed this aspect of the story, because let’s face it – a flawed character will always be more intriguing than a ‘perfect’ one. What I didn’t like was Blake’s personality. Her character was pure and simple flat. At least to me! Reading the blurb you will think she will be a redeemable character and in the end the author manage somehow to redeem her, because in the end she was completely another person. But not in my opinion, because I honestly didn’t find any redeeming qualities.

The hero which btw he wasn’t much of a hero IMO, was a little better. He was gorgeous, sex on a stick and yadda, yadda, but nothing stood out about him. Maybe it’s just me, but he was just meh.
The relationship development between Blake and Rhett was barely there. Everything between them felt so rushed and also unbelievable. As for the most important aspect of the story…for me…the chemistry between the characters…well...I didn’t feel any.

The ending was sweet and everything, but unsatisfying as f@ck because everything was so rushed. Maybe the story would have been better for me if would have been a little longer…ihm…on second thought I doubt it since I had more than one issue with this one.

Overall, this was just an ok read for me, but keep in mind that just because it didn't work for me, doesn't mean it won't work for you!

Wow! What a great read! I'd read Absolution by the Stevie J Cole and LP Lovell duo and vowed that I'd try both of these authors in their own distinct works. Now I see where the humor came from in Absolution.

High is the story of a young Blake McQueen, the daughter of high ranking Minister of Justice in England. Everything is about appearances for her parents and Blake has long lost her feeling of family loyalty where they are concerned. So she instead throws all caution to the wind and lives a life of complete debauchery- drugs, partying, sex, and anything possible to get on the front page of newspapers to stick it to her parents.

 photo 4C6AA8B9-8BD3-4EE5-AF6F-49E7D213ECF1_zpshwwkqid6.jpg

To say Blake is one hot mess is a gross understatement. That she survived the timeframe of this book without overdosing or being raped is simply amazing to me. I worried for her safety. So when she comes face to face with one of her past one-night-stands in her friend, Felix's office, she begins to think maybe a repeat with the hot as f@ck Rhett Torres may be in order. It's when her father finds out and demands she stay away from Rhett Torres that her interest is really peaked. Again, any chance to stick it to her dad... and Rhett is no consolation prize. Too bad her drug-induced state that night prevents her from remembering the events of their one night stand. Yes, a repeat is definitely in order.

I was kind of taken back when Rhett actually pursued our complete hot mess lovely Blake McQueen. You'd think this staunch businessman would run the other way. I'm so glad he stuck around because he's just what the doctor ordered for Blake..

If sex is a drug, then he’s pure heroin. One hit and I feel addicted in the most destructive way.

Blake seriously broke my heart. On the outside she's this footloose-and-fancy-free party animal but deep inside she just wanted someone to love her and truly value her as a person. Constantly being ridiculed and judged by her parents, who cared more about their public image than their daughter's safety and happiness, has really cut deep for her. Can Rhett heal those deep seated wounds?

Rhett- talk about a walking orgasm. Holy smokes. Blake didn't stand a chance. My kindle was smoking, I swear. Gah, if I smoked, I'd be having a cigarette fag after their sexual escapades. Nicely done.

High was a FANTASTIC book for me. The flawed heroine crying out for compassion in the worst way and her finding just the right guy to rescue her from herself. It had it all- steam, light angst, and some pretty laugh-out-loud humor. There's a particular scene with body hair removal cream on girlie parts that had me laughing hysterically. And I'll never look at a carton of Ben & Jerry's the same again. The author is a true Brit and I loved all the Britishisms in High. Thanks to my dolly, Katy, for being my British Urban Dictionary in all the naughty words! Now I know what a mirth and a Jonny is!!! And I can't wait to use "wee" in my next trip to the ladies room.

I truly enjoyed every bit of this book and I look forward to more from Ms. Lovell.

I liked this book but sadly I didn't ever feel the connection between Blake and Rhett. Things between them happened too fast.

Blake has awful parents. They only show her attention when she misbehaves and threatens to ruin their image. Blake could care less. After her father pushes her to marry a man just for the connections Blake goes about to piss her parents off. She does everything and anything she wants. She gets high, drunk and often wakes up in places she has no idea how she got there. She's friendly with all the photographers following her around. She picks up random guys or girls and half the time she doesn't even remember who she has slept with or what they look like. She often cracked me up with her thoughts.

I still don’t look at him. This is a technique I’ve developed. When you find yourself in such a position, get up, find clothes, go to the bathroom, all without looking at him. That way I won’t have to vomit in my mouth later when I think about the fact that I let him in my vagina, and possibly sucked his dick. God knows my entire mouth tastes like ball bag right now. Then when I’m ready, I just have to make a break for it, bee line to the door and run. Denial is your friend.~Blake

Rhett is visiting a friend and is shocked when the wild and crazy girl that he picked up from a bar a few weeks back comes in to his friends office. Blake is just as shocked because she actually is sad she doesn't remember anything about the night she had with the hot and sexy Rhett. When Rhett figures out who Blake is he comes up with a plan to help his brother. But he didn't plan on falling for Blake.

Sounds good right? Well I was actually pretty bored. Not much happened during this book and like I said earlier I didn't feel the love between these two. The sex was hot of course. lol I loved the ending and I'm happy with how everything turned out but I needed more to make me love this book.

Love LP Lovell but didn't love High. Will I be reading more of this author? Hell yes! I love her writing style!

Here's what I was thinking the ENTIRE time while reading this book:

pamandcocaine

Somehow, someway, I liked this book. I'm still not sure why. It could be because I tend to like the work that LP Lovell produces. Maybe it's because Blake's character embraced life in a way I never did or ever will, and in a way that though I don't condone it, I can appreciate. It could be because... I really don't know.

What I do know is that if it were up to Blake's character alone I wouldn't have enjoyed this book. I didn't like her. She fought against being stereotyped as a rich, entitled, spoiled brat but that's exactly who she was. She didn't become an addict to escape the pain or memories of a traumatic event. The worst abuse she suffered was neglect, which isn't nice, but c'mon she's rich! She didn't lack food, clothing, shelter, money, drugs... Poor little rich girl. My parents don't love me. Boo-freaking-hoo b*tch. She had two awesome BFFs who thought the world of her but were they enough? No. Did she truly appreciate them? No. She tormented them by abusing herself and making them watch and worry. She's just wonderful.

Rhett was the only reason I liked this book. I would give him 5 stars if I could. He put up with a lot of Blake's crap and seemed to have the patience of a saint. I kept waiting for him to snap, yell, and shake the sh*t out of her lol. Despite what he was going through and what he had to deal with he was there for her time and time again. Although it would have cut the story short, I was pretty much begging him to leave her dumb ass alone.

Honestly, I didn't like Blake until the very end when she said "Life is too short to settle for anything less than explosive. Many things in life are mediocre, but love shouldn't be one of them, and the way Rhett loved me... he could set the world on fire."

That's it. I loved Rhett and tolerated Blake for his sake. Besides, his sex scenes were freaking hot!! BONUS!!

Enjoy! xo

Did I read the same book as everyone else?
Such a shallow story :(
Blake is a cold bitch and I couldn't warm up or empathize with her at all.
I am feeling like a freaking weirdo right now. It's a rain of 5 Stars rates and a few 4.

Glad it was free on KU

3 "i don't dig the shit you pull" stars

And basically that was the highlight of this story for me, i m giving 3 stars simply cause i LOVE Lauren's writing style and i loved all her other books I have read so far BUT here, I had major issues with both, the heroine and the actual heroine, well cocaine, to be precise. If the heroine's 'fuck you all' attitude is presented as a constant 'teatrical acting out' of consumating cocaine and being hammered while fucking your life away through parties, then not knowing where the fuck you are 90% of the time-well, that's not 'fuck you all' attitude, that's being 'stupid as fuck' and well, basically not cool.

So, it's clear as day, that i didnt like the main character thus making the rest of the 'important' segments of the story totally insignificant and well basically she 'ruined' the experience of the story for me.

But as i stated before, my kudos to the author's writing style which is fluent and seems effortless, which is a major plus in 'my book' thus the 3 stars but the rest will not be smth I d hold on to for any longer.

ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.

Excellent writing and engaging storyline! I was very excited about this book. I wasn't disappointed. It was refreshing with flawed characters and gripping plot!
Blake is a trust fund baby. She has everything one could wish for...except one thing; love.
Her parents always judge her and she is labelled as the family's embarrassment. So, she does everything she can to anger her parents. She is a wild one. She parties, she does drugs and doesn't give a damn about anything.
When one night stand turns into something more, her life changes.
Rhett Torres is unlike any man she has ever met.

He's all man, yet savagely beautiful at the same time.

She finds herself extremely attracted to him and so, the one night stand becomes much more. Her feelings change and she finds herself slowly falling for Rhett...but he has his own secrets and hidden agenda. When emotions get in the way, Blake will find love to be the most dangerous drug of all.

...falling in love is like being high.

Love is its own drug.

Love is the most destructive drug of all.

Her addiction was always there, but now it seems worse and so, it interferes with her relationship with Rhett. Black is her own demon and it will cost her.

"I care about you, that's the problem. You're like a flame that burns so brightly I don't realize you're slowly sucking all the oxygen out of the room."

"You think you're untuchable, but you're not."

~Rhett

Can these two people survive each other's secrets and flaws?
I like that the heroine was flawed. I enjoyed reading about her, even though I couldn't find myself connected to her on any level. I haven't experienced what she has, so I couldn't understand why she needed drugs to make her parents furious and herself free of their domination. At the start, she says that the drugs don't really have a grip on her, but at the end of the day...they did.
I did however, understand that all she wanted was for someone to love her. That made her real.
What I liked was that her love for Rhett, made her want to change despite his presence in her life or not. I was happy when she made it past her addiction.

Rhett was a mystery for the most part of the book, but I found him charming. I really had a blast reading about these two. Their chemistry was off the charts!

Overall, I enjoyed it. I recommend it if you wnat something different.

There are some themes that might offend some people though, so be warned.

Ahhhhh this was my first LP Lovell solo and I loved it.
I'm not giving it 5 stars, simply because I felt the ending a little rushed, and that kinda pissed me off because I would have liked to read more about these characters. I freaking love Blake & Rhett.

I'm dying for a Milly's, Luca's or Felix's book. So please, can I have another book?

I'm definitely reading more LP Lovell material.

What a fabulous read.
I have stepped out of my dark comfort zone of late and having loved the last dark delight brought to us by LP & her partner in delicious crime Stevie, I decided to sign up for this one.

One page in and I had a good laugh ... "a badger's arsehole." is the new insult in our house, I totally claimed it. That being said, the humour lightened what was a brilliant story laced with some heavy themes. I fell in love with Blake, she is so full of shit. I got the feels and the funnies, which to me is hard combination to nail just right.

Why I loved this book so hard, we get a no nonsense leading lady with some MAJOR flaws, a cocky alpha male and a fun, emotionally engaging read. Addiction is something that affects so many, directly or indirectly through those we love and LP showed that so beautifully in this story.

If you are after a HOT, sexy, funny, emotional read then this will tick all the boxes. It also gets my vote for the best book pet ever -ghost hamster was the best!!!

I finished reading this book this morning and I still can't get the words down on how I loved this story.

Firstly I gotta say I love the cover. After reading the book just looking at the cover gives me all sorts of feels. This cover is oh so right for this book.

I started reading this last night. At 50% I stopped. As soon as I woke up this morning I finished the rest of it. Yes it's that kinda book.

I absolutely love the main characters Blake and Rhett.
My heart broke for Blake. Apart from her friends she is feeling so alone in the world. She is on a fast trip to self destruction and nothing can stop her. Then Blake enters her life. Rhett. Oh my dayz he is so hot. He wants to stop Blake from self destruction but can he??

I've got to mention the twist. Crikey my jaw certainly dropped. This is definitely a book I would have loved to buddy read with someone.

Excellent story. Heartbreaking with some hot sexy scenes. Loved it.

With these words I was sold......'and judge my state of inebriation based on how much tit or minge is splashed across page five.' And damn to fuckery LP Lovell, I promised myself an early night....did I get one?  No I fucking didn't cause I was knee deep, hook, line and sinker. Evil genius.

Blake, I want to be her. 'She sounds like the Queen of England, and yet she drinks like a fish, swears like a sailor and dances like a stripper.' Fuck. I am her. Just without the money! She so reminded me of my party days when I was younger!!

Rhett, loved him, and he was so damn alpha although a bit of an enigma.

So at 85% my world came crashing down. Worst fears realised and I wanted to kick LP  in her lady bits!

A party girl at her best and worst, this book captured it all. I have read all this authors books and each read is brilliant!

Ps....No P in the V!!!!

This was a major bust for me. I absolutely hated the heroine. For her she gets -1 star but I loved Rhett.

The story itself is really all about Blake self destructing, being a spoilt, vapid, dumb cow, trying to catch as many STDS and just plain TSTL. Nothing about her character appealed to me. I get hurt and I get rejection but the way she carried on. She had no ambition but causing her parents embarrassment... to get back at them and no future ambition and even though she hated her parents was happy to live off their money! Often at times she would go home to see the parents she hated because she was worried they would cut her off. She really is everything I loath.

Rhett was interesting. I liked him and I liked how he was trying to save his brother.

***4.5 Stars***

This is my first book by LP Lovell and I couldn't be happier that I read it. I was immediately drawn in by the blurb. A rebellious party girl who is all about alcohol, drugs and sex? Umm, yes, please!

I knew from first two sentences of the prologue that this was going to be an adventurous ride and it definitely was.

"Addiction and love. Two sides of the same coin."

Blake McQueen is a trust fund baby. The daughter of a politician, who she rebels against. She is that party socialite that the tabloids live for. She cares about drugs, sex and alcohol. Not always in that particular order. One might immediately stereotype Blake as a stuck up girl who lives the life she does because of Daddy issues. While some of that might be true, what we discover is that Blake is a sassy, witty and beautiful woman who is just trying to figure out what she wants in life. Unfortunately for her, what she wants at the moment is destructive to herself.

I wasn't expecting the humor in this book and Blake takes the cake with some of the best lines.

"He drags a hand through his dark hair, bordering on messy, and damn, I'd love to run my fingers through it. Preferably while I sit on his face."

"So, what happens when you meet this sacred man that makes you want to strip naked, climb him like a tree and high five his face with your vagina?"

Now that I type this out, it looks like I might have an obsession with Blake's vagina getting some action. Oh well, I'll own it.

When Blake meets Rhett Torres, their attraction is undeniable. Their story is a roller coaster. Rough, edgy, funny, easy. I know that doesn't make sense but it works for them. I like that Rhett didn't try to change her. She saw her for who she is and accepted it. There are defiantly some swoon worthy moments from Rhett when you don't expect it.

"She's beautiful in every way, but she's damaged, like a butterfly with a crumpled wing. On some level, I think she needs me, and perhaps I need her to need me."

The writing just flowed easily and I read this book in one sitting. My emotions were all over the place. A lot of the time I was laughing. More often then that I was clinching my thighs from some seriously HOT scenes. SERIOUSLY. HOT.

Thank you for an awesome book, LP. I can't wait to read more from you. Also, thanks for a seriously hilarious Author Bio. I'm that person as well. ;)

Holy shit! I freakin loved this book! When I started I was in a serious funk. Not anymore! This book kicked ass. Blake and Rhett... hot freakin damn! Talk about some down and dirty going on. Woohoo!

Rhett is a freakin hottie bad boy with a heart. Blake... well let's just say our girl get a bit wild and doesn't give a damn about much of anything. She is amazeballs. The two of them together are off the charts hot. Both have their own issues and lives to deal with but together life is better for both of them. I love how Rhett doesn't try to change Blake he only wants her happy. I don't think there's anything he wouldn't do for her. At all. This makes me love him even more.

There's a lot of drug use in this book and the messed up stuff that comes along with it. The highs lows and everything else in between. That shits not pretty.  This book isn't hearts and flowers and sweet. It's hardcore! Real. I loved the banter between Blake and Rhett. That was some funny stuff! I loved this book. Everything about it from start to finish kicked ass.  LP Lovell fucking rocks!

Always have been a huge fan of Lovell's works but the audacious turn in her writing blindsided me completely!

Blake McQueen brought the term "REBEL" to a whole new level, I'm absolutely amazed by how amazingly well-portrayed Blake's character was, the lengths of her rebellion knew no bounds. She was a wild child with an addiction for parties, alcohol and debauchery as we witnessed the painful descent of her character and she spiraled out of control and into a bottomless pit. All she wanted was attention.

What I loved about this story was how unorthodox it was, I absolutely loved the writing style (as always with Lovell's works) and the depth of the plot, but at the same time I couldn't get enough of it, like it was moving too fast where the main plot was moving simultaneously with the backstory and you just don't know which feelings to hold on to. I was really intrigued by the dynamics of Blake/Rhett's relationship (and the plot twist towards the end!) but I thought it wasn't well explored. There's so much s*x going on but I'm more interested in the emotional aspects of it, though don't get me wrong, it was pretty intense and heavy.

I guess I didn't rate it a five-star because I wasn't too big on Rhett's character, he has his moments that I fell in love with, but also times where I couldn't believe he was the same person. Nevertheless, I liked his backstory and was actually hoping that we would have more of it.

Despite the few hiccups, I really enjoyed this read!

I absolutely devoured this book. I read it in one afternoon session simply because I was instantly drawn in and I could not put it down.

The story takes off with a blast and you instantly know that you’re in for one heck of a ride.
Blake does what she wants, when she wants and doesn’t give a damn. Of course, L.P. Lovell always delivers characters with depth and layers to discover and enjoy and there is more to Blake than first meets the eye.
There are plenty of twists and enough drama to keep you turning page after page, after page.

Of course, if that’s not enough, you’re going to love Rhett...or maybe you’ll loathe him. He’s loyal, a self made man, a little rough around the edges and a lot dirty.

I loved this book! It’s kept me gripped from start to finish. I can’t wait to see what this author serves up next.

“I want to touch him, taste him, f him. So I do. I turn my body to face him and trail my hand over his chest as he drives. He offers me a sideways glance and in the dim light of the dashboard, I can see the small smile on his lips.”

5 take me higher stars! What a crazy, fun journey!! I loved every page!

Loved doesn’t even begin to cover how I feel about this book! I found myself constantly sitting with my kindle in hand and ignoring the rest of the world. I love LP Lovell and all her books, but I think this one is now my favorite of them all!

This is the first time that I read a book written solely by LP Lovell and trust me this is a ride worth taking. Let's say I'm not disappointed in the least. This is the kind of story that the reader has to go in with an open mind and leave their morals at the door. It's not for the faint of heart. I give it a solid HIGH five star.

ARC of High by LP Lovell provided in exchange for an honest and spoiler free review.

This is about Blake who hides her pain and insecurities with some pretty hard core self destructive behaviour. Underneath all the partying is a lonely, hurt young woman. Then she meets Rhett who is her new form of powerful addiction. He never intended to fall in love with the "DUCHESS" who breathes fire.

When I read the blurb I was quite intrigued about this story. I'm not new to reading books that have crass. I'm open minded to reading anything that sounds intriguing. This story sucked me in so deep that I had a hard time clawing myself out. The author got me hooked from the first page to the last one. It's rough, raw and highly addicting. It's full of angst, sadness and twists and turns. Once I started reading it I just couldn't seem to want to put it down. This is a wild roller coaster ride.

This story can be funny, heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once. I absolutely loved this story, it wasn't the dark kind of despair that I thought it would be. The characters were quite engaging and fit well together. Alpha male all the way.

This is a standalone told in a dual POV with a kick ass HEA. It's intended for mature readers due to strong language, sexual contents and some strong drug use. It's a romance with spike but I wouldn't call this a dark romance. It's very easy to say this is a story that everyone should read but in reality it isn't. This a wild ride that needs to be experienced if the reader decides to read it. This is an author that I will definitely read some more of her books.

I was really excited when this story came up for review. I wanted to see what the author would do with this age-old story-line ... a girl with the power to have everything at the snap of her fingers except the one thing we crave most in the world, love and acceptance.

Blake McQueen has grown up in a world of smoke and mirrors. Nothing is ever what is seems and people are never what they seem. Her life is just one big lie. Appearance are everything, no matter the cost. But she's a rebel. She refuses to live by her family's societal rules. She uses sex and drugs as an escape and every possible means to get her shenanigans on the front page. Whatever she has to do to embarrass daddy, she does ...

Rhett Torres is no hero, so I won't refer to him as that, but he does play our lead in this story. He's an old one-night stand that should have stayed a one-night stand but since Dad disapproves and Blake is always so high she can't remember her name half the time, he seems like a winner to her! (and in the end ... he just might be the jackpot lol)

This is not a rainbows and gumdrops read. SO, if you're looking for an easy HEA, then this might not be the read for you. It's emotional and edgy, a little dark but mostly, just one huge angst roller-coaster you have no idea when will end.... until it does :)

LP Lovell managed to mix heart-warmth with gut wrenching angst, perfectly. She told a story with serious content perfectly and mixed the right amount of humor and with to balance the realism.

I am seriously a fan of LP Lovell, her books just keep getting better and better.

This is a very different read from her previous books, but nevertheless a fantastic read.

A story about addiction and how it takes over your life, without you knowing.

Blake is a young woman who underneath it all is a very damaged woman. Turning to drugs and taking a path that makes sure that she is always in the spotlight. Coming from high profile parents, Blake makes sure whatever she does, it pi**es of her parents. Always having one night stands, Blake is not the relationship type of girl, drugs are the way forward for her and she is always looking for her next high. This changes when she meets Rhett, and it feels like she is swapping one addiction to another when it comes to him.

Rhett is the ultimate bad boy, his reputation precedes him. A possessive man, he is not the type to have a woman more that one night. Meeting Blake this changes and as far as he is concerned she is his.

This is definitely a read that will have you glued to the pages. I found it to be a refreshing read, and is so beautifully written. It is true in a sense as a lot of people swap one addiction for another.

I wasn't sure about this book. I mean, I really don't understand the idea of drug use and addiction but I can certainly sympathize. I lived a sheltered life because I truly didn't know about how any of those things effected your body, life and relationships. I couldn't understand how Rhett could fall in love with Blake but you could tell that that was exactly what he did. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I didn't know what she was going to do and she was so self-destructive.
Now on to the positive stuff. Holy hotness! Rhett is gorgeous and built and a total bad boy and every girl wants those things in a man. Blake is beautiful but such a wreck. I can totally understand the whole rebelling against your parents and the stress that comes with living under the microscope of public opinion but she really seemed to take it to the extreme. I learned so much from her. She wanted so much and just kept defeating herself. No spoilers here but I do want to say, thank you for the HEA. After all of that angst and stress, I totally needed something good to happen. Great job, LP! I thought it would be hard to connect to Blake but you make it easy. Thank you!

This is the first book by LP Lovell that I've read and it did not disappoint. Hot, addictive, steamy and even funny in some parts. While the end left a little to be desired with some unanswered questions, the book was still very good.

Blake's world is nothing but a lie - smoke and mirrors. It's filled with people who do things for reasons that only benefit themselves and lie to those they 'love' and do worse to those they don't. Rhett is his own personal type of bad boy with his own demons that could make or break him. When Blake and Rhett's world collide sparks as well as tempers fly. They have to figure out how work through their troubles together.

LP has written an angst-filled, gut-wrenching, slightly dark emotional roller coaster that will leave you guessing as to what will happen and when. When you think you have it figured out, she flips the script and takes you in a different direction. This is not an easy HEA - so if you're looking for something easy and light-hearted this may not be for you. Great book!

This book was AMAZING!!! I have only ever read anything by LP Lovell when she has co authored with Stevie J. Cole and I totally loved them. LP Lovell writing is just as amazing solo. I am definitely going to have to read the She Who Dares series.

High is a rather tragic heart felt story. Blake McQueen is one hot mess. She is out for attention, and attention is exactly what she gets although it does not have the effect she is thriving for.
Rhett OMG !!! I loved him He is a bad boy, but good at heart.
There is a twist in the story I did not see coming, and it completely crushed me.

Overall High is a fantastic read. The plot was original, the chemistry was great. The characters are tragic yet beautifully written.
Highly Recommend !!!!

Oh wow! Ladies, you're going to love this book and Rhett in particular!

Blake is a different kettle of fish. Pushed down a destructive path, all she cares about is her next high and where the next party is. I sympathised with her character but she's also her own worst enemy.

Rhett is h-o-t!  He's possessive, dirty and has stamina! There isn't a thing to dislike about this steamy "bad boy with a reputation" but I guarantee that even if you do find something that niggles at you, it'll pale in comparison to the sheer magnetic vibe he has. He'll pull you in and leave you feeling weakened at the knees!

This story is beautifully written. There are ups and down and I may have even welled up a tad. There's definite laughter and oh, did I mention that Rhett is sex on legs?!

Grab this book - you will not regret it!

Blake is just like that one girlfriend that you have....you know the one who is always up for a good time? Although Blake is a party girl the author manages to make her lovable at the same time. The reader finds themselves routing for Blake to have a happy ending or at least survive until the end.
Rhett is definitely book boyfriend material. He is the perfect blend of bad boy/businessman. When Blake and Rhett collide the sex and the storyline are epic. Definitely worth a read. This might just be my favorite book by this author yet.
Also I love the cameo by Stevie's characters in this book it was well done and a nice touch.

So, me and my local platypires go to this signing last weekend (Books are Bigger in Texas, for those of you keeping track) and I meet this lovely author from London, and she seems super rad, so I pick up this book, and she indiscreetly hands me an adult toy to go along with it, so I'm like 'holy junk YES! I cannot wait to find time to meet this new book!'

And yes, this book is bleeping HAWT. But it's also a GREAT story. I hate spoilers, so I refuse to write any, but I really liked this book.
