A Dragon's Heart

Rate this book
A mate worth fighting for...

Tor and Perry are Dragon shifters, powerful protectors of their region and the people and shifters in it. With the world only getting more evil, Tor and Perry know there's only one thing to do. Find a mate, one brave enough to be gifted with a third dragon power to join their triad. They just need to find someone brave. Too bad the only woman they seem to be interested in is their curvy secretary, a woman they found hiding under a desk...

Lexie has never been the bravest around. If the dragons hadn't shown up when they did, she might have died. So she's just glad they took her in as a secretary while working to find the men who are still on her tail.  But being around tall, dark and handsome Tor and graceful, elegant Perry is starting to change her. Instead of hiding, she wants to heat things up with her dragons. If only she can be brave enough to do it.

As the three work together in close quarters, sparks fly between Lexie and her dragon employers, threatening to ignite into a blaze. But though they know it's complicated, they can't resist stoking the flames. When trouble catches up, all three will have to decide just what they are willing to lose, and what's really worth fighting for...

Although I liked this menage story with dragons, I was a bit upset with a couple of things.

Somehow, a lot of things felt unpolished, undeveloped.

For example, the need to find an heroine who consequently would have a Dragon’s heart and therefore able to mate dragons. So if the woman was lacking heroism such saving people from fire or put herself in danger to save others, then this woman was not worth it to become a Dragon’s mate.

OK.

Well, not OK in fact. First, some of us never had the opportunity to save people and that is a good thing. Second, not everyone is a coward because they do not save people. Anyway, it is a romance. So every excuse is possible but judging someone to be worth it? I did not buy it. A lot of people are heroes. Like the one who dedicate themselves to others. Like this lady who adopt children because someone has to do it. Like this guy going in this park in the middle of winter and decided to clean some blankets for some street people. For me a Dragon’s Heart means pure and kind heart. But again, this is a romance and the author decided to justify the mating if the female was a true heroine.

Anyhoo, this bothered me from the start.

Then I did not feel Perry’s passion for Lexie. His attraction, yes. His lust, maybe. He was described as the brain so he was thinking in terms of saving people, not love. It was as if he gave up something huge for something minor. It was almost a sacrifice. Not really romantic from my perspective.

I did not really understand why the need to protect her either. That was not enough developed. She was a 2 weeks secretary and had no access to anything special. They could have just erase her memories and move on but decided to “keep” her save with them, even if it was not allowed.

I was a bit confused when I read the story and mostly because the explanations were not logical or developed. I think the author forgot that some readers, like me, never read her books and series.

It was a bit cliché such the curvy who never thought she could be loved by male models material. The heroine never fought for them. She immediately accepted that she was not good enough for them. I dunno. I also did not like that.

This said, it was a sweet romance, easy to read and I read it up to the last page which is good. However, my advise here is probably to read other Dragon’s stories from this author. In doing so, readers will be immersed in this Dragon world the author, Terry Bolryder, created and it will probably be easier to understand between the lines and truly appreciate the story :)

After reading the Tiger Protectors trilogy (A Tiger's Bounty, A Tiger's Treasure, and Tiger's Destiny), particularly with there being the dinner party for Perry, Tor, the tigers and their mates at the end of the third book, I was itching to read Perry and Tor's story. Imagine my disappointment when I started reading Terry Bolryder's Dragons of New York series (the only dragon books that were available; Double Dragons, Double Dragons, and Destined Dragons) to find that none of them were about Perry and Tor! Needless to say, I was trilled when I finally got the opportunity to read this book. I had high hopes for it and Bolryder didn't let me down! This one was very different from the other three dragon books in that it is assumed Lexie is not a dragon heart (don't worry, I'm not spoiling the book; the reader finds this out in the first scene). In the others, the female protagonists were clearly dragon hearted. As finding a dragon heart is critical in the eyes of the dragons, this made for an interesting deviation from the previous three books. While this book can be read as a stand alone (and does not end in a cliffhanger), I think it would be wise for someone to read the Tiger Protectors trilogy first for certain. It would also be beneficial to read the Dragons of New York trilogy prior to reading this. I feel like having read those helped me to better understand everything that was going on and some of the implications and intricacies of the dragons (such as why the red and silver are typically paired together, why the dragons are hunted/in pairs, what Lexie is talking about when she mentions dragons feeding their mate, etc.; the list is extensive). It also gives the reader a better feel as to the gravity of Perry and Tor being the only dragons in their region (as opposed to the 6 in New York). Overall, I would definitely recommend any of the books I've mentioned in this review (including the book for which this review is being written) to a PNR lover.

This was just OK.

I didn't like Thor or Perry to be honest. They wouldn't consider Lexie as a mate because she wasn't "Dragon Heart" (which BTW was repeated like a gazzilion times in this book!!) They just came across like a couple of stuck up jerks. Lexie also annoyed me because she knew they thought she wasn't good enough to mate, but still went ahead and slept with them. Have a little self respect chick!

Overall disappointed in this one.

While I was reading this book I had mixed feelings. I was sorta unhappy with Tor and Perry for not seeing how great Lexie was. I kinda felt they thought she was beneath them because she wasn't "brave" or "dragon heart". There are different levels of brave. Not all are physical. However, I saw their point in needing a dragon heart too. They have a tough job and they really need that 3rd power. Then I got a little upset with Lexie for being pathetic enough to consider having a fling with them. I was like really Lexie? She was soooo setting herself up for heartbreak and the whole thing was her idea ugh. Tor might have been big and strong but he was actually the sweeter of the 2. Perry bothered me sometimes because he's constantly wanting to do what he's supposed to and especially regarding dragon hearts. No matter how much he loved her. He fought it the longest I think. He's sweet in his own way too. This Monica I could see the deceit a mile away on that chick. Just too convenient. Everything worked out in the end but I got sooo frustrated at those 3 lol. I loved it though. This was SUCH a fabulous series and wish it would continue because honestly there could be more dragons in need of mates lol. Come one Terry...please? :)

Strength, courage and honor when you need it the most did I mention love?

I'm so over the top now that Perry and Tor found their mate. She has been right under their nose for a few months. Under protection. She was their they were there to keep her safe. Lexington came into their world not knowing about dragons and quickly be same caught up.She turned out to be the best Secretary and lover. She took Tor's heart by storm. The big bad but gorgeous as sin red Dragon world was turned upside by this human. And Mr. Logical all in charge heart just melted away. He could not resist her even when he tried. And when you have a good thing going and some snippy chick tries to wreck havoc and claim she's the Dragon heart. All chaos breaks out because no one comes and destroys Lexington and her men love. She might not stand up for herself but she put herself on the line to protect her mate's. They are her dragons and don't you forget that. This is a really intense but exhilarating book. A must read!

When Lexie is rescued from the middle of a fight between wolves and tiger's, she it's not sure what she saw was even real. Of course she is not sure the two hunny men who retrieve her from under a desk are real either.

Perry and Torrance are dragon shifters who are hoping to find their mate. They are sure that this woman cowering under a desk couldn't possibility be a dragon-heart, but she is in danger still and she did see men shift into animals, so she needs to be contained until she is safe and her memory is wiped. They offer her a job as their secretary and over time both of them start to fall for her. Since she can't be their mate, they give her the job of scheduling interviews with prospects. But it seems she is the only prospect they really want to get to know. But the woman they found hiding under a desk couldn't possibly be the dragon-heart they need, could she?

Normally I love these books and would rate them 4 stars or higher. There was just something illogical about the entire premise that Lexie did not act as a Dragon Heart should because she hid under a desk while shifters fighted.
In all the other Dragon books written by Terry Bolryder, the potential mate proves she is a Dragon Heart by doing something completely selfless, often to save a child from danger. In the fight there was no one to rescue. In fact there was a point where she was considering how to help the white tiger against all the wolves just as the dragons saved the day. That seems pretty brave to me.
It just seemed out of place in comparison to the other books.
Barring that I liked the book overall and really appreciated the ending in particular.

Under your nose, guys

It was difficult to know where in the reading order this should go. On the list I was looking at it kind of hung out there all by itself. Fortunately, I found that it goes on the end of the tiger series. It features the dragons we met in that series, and all of the Tigers show up here. I found it fun that the idiot dragons stress about finding a 'dragon heart' when she was right there all along. Guys can be so dense sometimes. Even dragons. Fun bedtime story.

Perry and Tor were dragons, content in there ways...or where they?

Lexie was working through a temp agency. Being a secretary was a paying job, at that. Her day was going fine until the surroundings exploded around her. All she could think about is hiding and getting to safety. She hated that about herself, but cold do nothing about it. What she saw was unreal, men switching to wolves, she even saw a white tiger! Her world was about to forever change. Will she be strong enough?

Brilliant

A Dragon Heart: BBW Paranormal Romance by Terry Bolryder. Lexie is at work when a huge fight breaks out. From under her desk she sees men turning into animals. Shifters are real. 2 dragons Tor and Perry take her to their home for safety. As the days pass Lexie, Tor and Perry become closer but the dragons need a Dragon Heart to complete their triad and it seems Lexie doesn't fill their requirements or does she.

3 1/2 STARS

I found this story interesting. I have read the Dragons of New York series before, so I was familiar with the dragon heart information. Sadly, at the moment it says I have NOT read the series, so I will try and remedy that in the near future. And hopefully reviews . . .

A Dragon's Heart

As always T Bolryder has written another great book. The story just flows so evenly that you can just continue reading without stopping, never realizing just how you've been reading. This is a true test as to how good a book is. If it keeps you so involved that you think you're one of the main characters and you're right in their moment, that's a great job.

Seriously? This book made me soooo mad. They had a woman and then told her they were going erase her memory and paraded a new “mate” around in front of her. Then when they realize that the original woman was their mate she just forgets everything they just did and the other “mate” and let’s them take her. They don’t deserve her! The disrespect in the whole thing made my stomach hurt.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this story. I'm not usually into MMF romances, but this one was good. I liked the plot, the characters, the sexy scenes, the action. I'm pleased with how it all unfolded.

I adore how Terry Bolryder writes dragon stories. She may not be as wonderful writing other shifter series (although she did pretty darn fantastic with tigers), but dragons are an obvious passion that translates to each story. I'm off to finish up the metal dragons and Citrine's tale (gem dragon).

Super duper good stuff

As usual this book is about as boring as a snow storm in Florida. I am constantly amazed at her continually turning out first class stories that are not repetitive and maintain such quality. In my thoughts anything she writes is gold.

A Must Read

I have read this book three times in a row and that's saying something. Come and read the tigers books and dragon heart. I wonder if she had twins one for each. There should be a little information on that.

Seemingly the last installment in the Dragons of New York series, this book finally gives Perry and Tor (introduced in A Tiger's Treasure) their HEA. Lexie turned out to be braver than even she thought she could be.

Tor, Perry and Lexie's sorry is my favorite. I have read this book so many times it's a bit embarrassing. I love how the love they all share helped boost them all up in the ways each needed.
