"Non c'è speranza, all'Inferno, e gli uomini non si impegnano a costruire un futuro migliore per i propri figli perché non possono averne".
Uno dei peggiori libri di tutti i tempi… e quel che è peggio è che ci aspetta un seguito! Che dire? Praticamente mi tocca ripetere le stesse cose già dette in occasione del primo volume di Dannati: trama assurda, completamente senza senso e con un susseguirsi di avventure, guerre e situazioni varie inserite qua e là senza apparente logica. E, cosa ancor più grave, si assiste ad una sequela di personaggi famosi (ma cattivi) vissuti in epoche diverse, che qui (cioè all'Inferno) si ritrovano tutti insieme e a casaccio. Altra assurdità di tutta l'opera di Glenn Cooper, ma in un certo senso quasi ironica, è che ti ritrovi Stalin che si comporta da parodia di sé stesso ed Enrico VIII che dal XVI secolo si vede catapultato direttamente nel XXI… sempre passando dall'Inferno! Insomma, vista la mia delusione sia del precedente libro che di questo, mi chiedo se ne valga davvero la pena comprare (quando uscirà) anche il terzo volume…

LA PORTA DELLE TENEBRE è il secondo volume della trilogia "Dannati" di Glenn Cooper. La trama è molto coinvolgente, misteriosa. Glenn Cooper vi descrive l'Inferno, l'Oltre, grazie alla sua immaginazione creativa che lo porta a farlo assomigliare a una sorta di mondo medievale. Suggestivo nelle descrizioni, anche questo thriller storico di Cooper riesce ad affascinare e coinvolgere il lettore tenendolo con il fiato sospeso.

Second chapter of the "Damned" Trilogy and I absolutely have to compliment Cooper for this novel, I really loved this book, the actions are described with great fluidity, the speeches are short and clear, going straight to where Cooper wants to arrive.
Even if the final is on the false line of the first chapter doesn't mean it's a bad note, there are several aspects that are different and so I do not feel that this can be a lack of originality.
I am already starting to read the third book as I really want to know what will happen as it is very intriguing.
I absolutely recommend this book as well as the whole trilogy, I'm sure readers that love Glenn Cooper's books will appreciate this trilogy

Alleluja, finalmente ho trovato il tempo per scrivere sta recensione.
Tuttavia devo ammettere che il libro in sé non m’invoglia a spenderci più di qualche parola. Perché? Beh, è troppo simile al primo. No, sul serio… è praticamente come il predecessore.
La storia è sempre la stessa e, nel vedere la fine, sarà così anche per il volume conclusivo. Che gioia! Le poche differenze consistevano nella coralità dei personaggi (fin troppi, a mio avviso) e dal modo in cui i nostri prodi eroi cercano di riportare a casa i dispersi.
Giusto per fare il succo della storia, portare un libro all’Inferno ti spalanca qualsiasi porta. Ebbene sì, la trama parla più dello spaccio di libri che altro.
Una nota positiva va al personaggio di Brian che, come in Timeline, decide di rimanere all’Inferno per la sua amata e la gloria. Ok, era il mio pg preferito è un po’ mi è dispiaciuto… Ma tanto in quel buco devono ritornarci, per cui nessun problema.
Insomma, questo romanzo in sé è stato abbastanza nì.
Ma tanto non ho alcuna fretta di finire questa trilogia…

Anche il secondo libro della trilogia non ha per niente deluso! Mi sento di dare 4 stelle e non il massimo, perché in questo secondo capitolo il romanzo si sviluppa su diversi fili narrativi (l'entrelacement usato da Ariosto è niente a confronto) che hanno in certi punti, soprattutto all'inizio, appesantito un po' la lettura passando nello stesso capitolo da quello che succedeva sulla Terra alle vicende nell'Oltre. Tuttavia, non vedo l'ora di leggere il terzo e ultimo capitolo.

Concluso il secondo capitolo della saga. Lettura che ti tiene incollati al libro, tuttavia nulla di stavolgente rispetto al primo capitolo. Ben inserite le nuove trame, finale che poteva essere anche più "catastrofico" di quanto sia....ma aspettiamo di leggere il 3 capitolo 😉

Agh so. This book presents several things that are to be considered “annoying”
1) it is the same exact story presented in the first book.
2) it has WAAAAAAAY too many characters, too many names. Some characters were pretty useless, and were only there so someone could die at some point.
3) John, the main character, is probably my least favourite character EVER. I even prefer Voldemort in Harry Potter. The author describes him as this amazing individual, everyone loves him etc. To me, he is everything but that. He is not given vulnerability, which I think is essential to develop a great story.
4) Okay. My favourite character is actually Trevor, so the next point might be a bit subjective. At the beginning of the book, Brian and John call Trevor cocky (when actually the other two men show that trait in a far greater way). FURTHERMORE, there’s one thing that REALLY annoyed me. John went to Hell in the previous book, with the same knowledge Trevor had of old style weapons. He managed to be just fine. But then Trevor needs to be trained (because apparently John can survive with zero knowledge, but Trevor won’t stand a chance) and then Brian says that he needs to come cos he’s their only hope. BULLCRAP. All of this is BULLCRAP.
5) I found the whole “small gun, big penis” not only disgusting but also unnecessary.
6) John decides he’s gonna kick Joyce’s guards ass. But then, when more guards come in, he magically decides that, for Emily’s good and for the mission, he’s not gonna do it. SHUT UP. MAYBE YOURE SAYING THAT BECAUSE THEY WERE GONNA KICK YOUR ASS.
I’m sorry, if I start a book, I will finish that book, but I just went through 500 pages of pure crap, so I’m a bit exasperated.
Not looking forward to the next novel.
PS I like the depiction of Garibaldi and Stalin, for me the most interesting characters, so at least I have that to look forward to in the next novel

Wow, it's amazing that this book trumped the first book in this series! The story was built up in the first book; laying the groundwork and because of that, it was full throttle excitement in this one.
The only thing I will say is READ THIS SERIES! It's an extremely creative, original and unique take on science and Hell, and like always, Glenn Cooper masterfully blends several genres together to create an adsorbing story! It's full of great characters and there are constant twists and seemingly insurmountable odds that they have to face that keeps the reader on edge throughout the book. I can't get enough of this and eagerly anticipate diving into the third and final book this weekend. I give this one a 5/5 and my highest recommendation!

Un bajonazo despues de la grata impresión que me dejó la primera parte. Básicamente porque esta segunda entrega es una repetición de la primera en que no se aporta nada nuevo. No queda misterio alguno por desvelar ni se siembra uno nuevo que pueda despertar interés. Aunque entretenida, es más de lo mismo (si antes se extraviaba la chica e iba el chico a rescatarla, ahora se extravía la familia y retornan los dos en su búsqueda) El autor trata de compensarlo con la inclusión de un humor que debido al lugar y las situaciones, está totalmente fuera de lugar la mayor parte de las veces. No deja ganas de la tercera entrega, pero reconozco que el resultado de la primera parte me atrae para seguir probando con Glenn Cooper.

Ebbene le porte dell’Inferno non si sono chiuse!
Non sono impazzita, tranquilli, sto parlando del seguito di Dannati di Glenn Cooper (che se non avete ancora letto, vi invito a farlo perché è un romanzo sensazionale! Non fatevelo perdere!).
Per chi invece l’ha già letto, sarà rimasto a bocca aperta e con una sensazione – che definirei – quasi terrificante leggendo il finale del precedente volume.
John Camp, attraversando le nazioni dell’Oltre e conoscendo e battendosi con personaggi storici – forse – ancora più cattivi di com’erano in vita, riesce a ritrovare la sua amata, la dottoressa Emily Loughty. Negli ultimi secondi di tempo, riescono anche a far ritorno sulla Terra… ma un guaio ancora peggiore li coglie impreparati. Con l’ultimo riavvio del MAAC, altre persone – tra cui la sorella e i nipoti di Emily (bambini piccoli di pochi anni) – vengono trasportati all’Inferno, e altri dannati ritornano sulla Terra.
John, Emily e altri prodi personaggi devono far ritorno in quell’oscuro e tetro luogo di perdizione…
Riusciranno a salvare tutti gli ignari cittadini precipitati accidentalmente all’Inferno? E riusciranno a ritornare a casa?
Romanzo avvincente e ben strutturato, ma in genere non sono un’amante dei seguiti (li considero quasi sempre una sorta di copia e incolla del precedente), e infatti anche questo non mi ha sorpreso più di tanto… se non per alcuni espedienti che tengono alta l’attenzione del lettore. Uno su tutti è il personaggio di Giles Farmer, un blogger ossessionato da teorie complottiste, che cerca di scoprire il mistero attorno al MAAC e alle strane sparizioni avvenute, e soprattutto vuole rivelare le sue sconcertanti scoperte al mondo intero. Altro elemento interessante è il gruppo di erranti che iniziano a gironzolare per la città e a massacrare – in alcuni casi anche a mangiare – i poveri cittadini che incrociano.
Per quanto riguarda l’avventura dei protagonisti nell’Oltre, be’ è interessante, ci sono alcuni piccoli colpi di scena che non si possono immaginare ed è piena di emozioni di ogni tipo, non c’è che dire, ma in sostanza non presenta particolari e grandi novità rispetto al primo capitolo.
Comunque bisogna tenere presente che questo è solo un romanzo di transito… già perché c’è un terzo e ultimo capitolo, dove si arriverà alla resa dei conti. Come si risolveranno? Staremo a vedere...

Cela ne peut pas faire du bien à cette trilogie de la comparer avec Walkind dead ou Game of Thrones… D’accord on parle de morts « vivants » mais ils n’ont rien de zombie, et oui, on parle aussi de guerres de pouvoirs mais qui ne ressemblent vraiment pas aux complots élaborés de Game of Thrones. Ainsi que je l’ai écrit pour le premier tome, si vous cherchez une sérieuse, profonde et complexe histoire de science-fiction, cette trilogie n’est pas pour vous. Glenn Cooper a écrit une intrigue enjouée, pleine d’imagination, sanguinaire, où drames, amours, violence, et pochades s’affrontent ou se chevauchent. Oui, cela manque un peu de cohérence, et des fois le récit déraille un peu. Mais, on s’en fiche un peu. Le divertissement et l’enthousiasme prennent le pas sur le reste.
J’ai retrouvé John et Emily avec plaisir. Les voici retombés dans ce monde « pourri » où ils doivent à leur tour sauver d’autres malheureux tombés malencontreusement en enfer. On retrouve certains personnages secondaires (notamment Dick et Duck… toujours aussi sympathiquement niais !) alors que d’autres très inquiétants font leur apparition. Ils sont bien campés, avec des caractères forts qui s’intègrent parfaitement dans le déroulement de l’histoire. Toutes ces aventures s’entremêlent avec quelques rebondissements dont certains, pour ma part, sont plutôt inattendus. Alors, je l’ai déjà écrit aussi que cela ne révolutionne pas le fantastique, mais Glenn Cooper s’amuse et cette légèreté chaleureuse est franchement sympathique. Et puis tous ces illustres « connus » qui guerroient entre eux dans une sorte de délire de pouvoirs dans un rythme effréné… on se demande jusqu’où cela va aller !

La porta delle tenebre è un sequel scritto e pubblicato a ridosso del primo libro e, per questo, potrebbe essere considerato la sua appendice naturale. Le differenze, infatti, sono poche e maggiormente dovute al necessario sviluppo della trama piuttosto che ad un mutamento o ad un'evolversi della vicenda.
Uno degli aspetti che cambia è la quantità di punti di vista disponibili. All'inizio del romanzo troverete nuovi personaggi e i loro relativi point of view che riusciranno a rendere meno scontata e più interessante la storia. Questa struttura maggiormente articolata andrà a scemare sempre di più fino ad essere ridotta al minimo al termine del volume.
La storia continua e, ovviamente, con essa si sommano nuovi concetti, colpi di scena e strategie. La credibilità in questo caso risulta maggiormente traballante, specie sul finale in cui l'autore utilizza un escamotage che indispettirà i maggiori appassionati di storia. Quest'ultimo aspetto, oltre che nel punto appena specificato, rimane quello più curato e che dà il maggior valore al romanzo. Gli approfondimenti sui personaggi storici sono inferiori ma sempre puntuali. Ho apprezzato particolarmente le parti in cui l'autore mostra la reazione attonita delle persone, morte antecedentemente ad una determinata scoperta, davanti alla sua realizzazione.

La credibilità in questo caso risulta maggiormente traballante, specie sul finale in cui l'autore utilizza un escamotage che indispettirà i maggiori appassionati di storia. Quest'ultimo aspetto, oltre che nel punto appena specificato, rimane quello più curato e che dà il maggior valore al romanzo. Gli approfondimenti sui personaggi storici sono inferiori ma sempre puntuali. Ho apprezzato particolarmente le parti in cui l'autore mostra la reazione attonita delle persone, morte antecedentemente ad una determinata scoperta, davanti alla sua realizzazione.

That saga is a nice (funny .. a lot of humour too), original and interesting adventure (Except the Necrophilia part). It would make a nice TV serie ^^

John and Emily have to return in Hell (lol .. even in english, it is really weird to write this) to save Arabel (Emily's sister) and her children + some others people. All of them have been sent in Hell at the same moment John and Emily came back from there. (i hope i am clear enough). And vice versa, some damned have landed on Earth and .. it is a real massacre!
Some of those new caracthers are really cool but one of them (for me) is so damned annoying: TRACY. All she does is crying from her very 1st apparence until she comes on Earth.
Yes, there are some Damned who aren't really bad (yes, for having landed in Hell, they obviously did something wrong .. and some of them have made worst than the others) BUT when i read that Brian and Alice decided to stay in Hell with their "damned = DEAD soulmates) i was like oO' .. @__@
Hey Dudes!! yes, they talk, walk, smile, eat, drink, ect thing but they are D-E-A-D!
We found back our "damned leaders" .. new wars .. new battles .. new enemy ...
I will not say much more about what happens on Earth and in Hell ....

Mñññññññññññññeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhh
Todo lo original de "Condenados" se va por la borda en una novela llena de acción que no aporta absolutamente nada a la primera entrega. Un libro que grita "háganme película por favoooooooooor" y que sea de muchísimo dinero con muchísimas guerras explosiones, como un Game of Thrones pero versión chafísima. La verdad, una decepción.
No es que el libro sea taaaaaan malo, la narrativa de Cooper lo libra bien, el problema es que son otras 350 páginas de lo mismo que el anterior, y como ya leíste el primero, pues más predecible. En el primero, no se podía predecir el final final, en este se sabía cien páginas antes.
Si de algo sirve, como no es una serie horrible, ya estoy leyendo el tercero, voy como a la tercera parte, y al menos levanta algo, al introducir al hermano de John, pero eso es para otra reseña.

Secondo volume di questa trilogia, cosa dire? L’ho apprezzato di più rispetto al primo. Glenn Cooper ha un’ottima scrittura, fluida e non troppo complicata. Le scene di azione, più cruente rispetto al primo, sono state descritte bene, alcuni personaggi hanno avuto più carattere nella storia mentre altri potevano benissimo non esistere. La storia, nonostante sia molto ripetitiva, risulta interessante e coinvolgente. Sono dell’idea che Glenn Cooper abbia fatto un ottimo libro, ma doveva fermarsi al primo e non proseguire con altri due. Aspettative per il terzo? basse, mi aspetto un’altra storia uguale ma finalmente con una fine.

Vamos a tener que regresar para encontrar a Paul Loomis - La puerta de las tinieblas, Glenn Cooper 9/16 📚📖✅ Mmmmmmmm, un libro relleno e innecesario, es más de lo mismo que el primer tomo, porque de verdad, entregó nada a la historia, uno que otro nuevo personaje en la misma tónica del primer libro, si no fuera por las últimas 50 páginas (de 550 casi, sí solo el 10%) podría pasarse por alto. Disfruté mucho más la segunda parte que la primera, posiblemente porque ya conocía a los protagonistas y sabía a que se iban a enfrentar cuando fueran “abajo” el autor sabe muy bien cómo mantener en vilo al lector y nos lleva de una situación peliaguda a otra apenas dándonos un respiro. Creí que este era el fin de la historia pero no lo es, ahora tengo que averiguar si ya hay tercera parte, porque si no me voy a quedar totalmente frustrada 😁❤️📚

La storia è bella, scorrevole ed appassionante.
Non mi ha proprio fatto impazzire la prima ma dato che ogni libro finisce con un cliffhanger si è costretti a leggerne un altro.
Anche questo secondo non sfugge alla regola. La storia però l'ho trovata molto più appassionante.
Questi dannati non sono sempre così cattivi ma la redenzione sembra non poterci mai essere. Peccato.
Vedremo il prossimo che ovviamente dovrò leggere ahimè.

Altro giro di giostra all'Inferno. Molto carino e scorrevole, anche se la trama di base è: situazione che potrebbe andare storta -> va storta sicuramente -> potrebbe sistemarsi -> si sistema sicuramente. Al di là di questa gestione un po' troppo scontata della trama, viene voglia di vedere come va a finire. Anzi, viste le premesse, è più corretto dire che viene voglia di vedere come riesce a finire esattamente come si pensa che debba finire... perchè si sa già come va a finire!!!

Tutto sommato, il romanzo soffre dei problemi del romanzo precedente. La storia è avvincente (se si sorvola sulle armate degli stati stile risiko), sono state introdotte alcune scenette interessanti e alcuni personaggi ironici, come Brian la star televisiva, eccetera.
E come tocco finale, i protagonisti dovranno ritornare all'inferno nel capitolo successivo.

A ver... Quiero leer el tercero para ver cómo termina... Siento innecesario algunos recuerdos de John camp cuando estaba en combate y también tanto detalle histórico. Me ha pasado de leer por encima varias páginas para avanzar porque se detallaban historias de los reyes que no se necesitan saber.
Si fue mejor que el primero, un poco más ágil la lectura.

All'inizio ero un poco dubbiosa: francamente, avrei fatto terminare la storia al primo libro... Era davvero necessario forzare la trama in una trilogia? Piano piano mi sono ricreduta. Sono stata nuovamente catturata nella storia e nella lettura. Glenn non si smentisce. Metto 4 stelle solo per alcune "forzature", appunto. Mi butto, comunque, a capofitto sul terzo ed ultimo.

Secondo capito di "Dannati" concluso. Ottimo romanzo con avvenimenti interessanti. Buona anche la descrizione delle vicende da parte di Glenn Cooper. Sono curioso di vedere come va a finire l'avventura dei nostri eroi nel terzo ed ultimo capitolo di questa trilogia.
