Kiss So Sweet

Rate this book
When the mantel of leadership falls upon Architect Francesca Moretti to see a high-profile construction project to completion, she rallies to the challenge. Construction may be a guy's world, but Franci intends to prove she's just as comfortable in steel-toed work boots as designer heels.

Then the financing company sends Kyle Jagger, a glorified nitpicking babysitter, to oversee her every move. As Kyle constantly looks over Franci's shoulder—and not always at the blueprints—Franci gets the distinct impression his interests extend to more than the bottom line.

Stef Ann Holm was born in Southern California near Hollywood. With the fantasy worlds of Disneyland and Universal Studios at her doorstep, her imagination was stimulated at an early age. She attended Chatsworth High where Kevin Spacey, Mare Winningham and Val Kilmer entertained on the school's stage. As a semester elective, Stef Ann enrolled in drama and played a Fandango hostess in the chorus of Sweet Charity. It was the beginning and the end of her acting and singing career. She got a "C" in Drama and an "A" in Creative Writing.

She sold her first romance in 1987. While waiting for a load of laundry to complete at the laundromat, Stef Ann made up the name for her heroine, Camry, when she saw a Toyota Camry parked outside in the lot. Who knew that model would end up being so popular, making her in-depth research seem so shallow. Stef Ann has had twenty-three novels and one novella published. Her editor calls her contemporary romances, "Slices of life stories about real people."

Stef Ann lives in Boise, Idaho with her husband, extended family and beloved Beagle.

This was a charming read that made me laugh with some sad times but has a wonderful ending. Franci is a delightful character I had to laugh at her sense of humor in the trailer scene. Kyle was such a stand up guy always doing what is right even at a cost to his self. I love how the author brings it together in a well told plot about family and friends. The Moretti’s are a very tight net family who work hard, they come together pushing each other to try to be the best they can. I loved their parents who were best friends and lovers. They made me wish I could be part of their family. It broke my heart when Franci had to take over running the company this was a great loss not only to the family but I felt I had loss someone important to me as well. This was a great read with an outstanding plot that keeps you entertained. It might start out slow but doesn’t take long to heat things up giving you a highly entertaining read.

Ms. Holm’s gives you wonderful characters that you can relate to. She brings sorrow to the readers which will tear at your heart. She makes you laugh and want to cry as she tells a compelling story of family lose and starting a new, with conflicts, and pain. There are characters I would love to see have their own stories. Her one brother who lost so much I would enjoy see him get a happy ever after, being a single parent isn’t easy. I enjoyed the chemistry between Franci and Kyle right from the start you can feel the heat coming off them. Franci’s mother is a sweetheart even through her heart is breaking she still does what needs to be done. She helps her family deal with their loss and makes sure Franci has to put up with Kyle even when she said she doesn’t want him around. This is one mother who can read her children very well.

There were two places I didn’t agree with or wanted more info. Franci’s mother never told Kyle how much money she got. She just said it was a lot but later in the book he told Franci the correct amount. I felt Kyle gave in to easy with his mother. He didn’t even try to tell her that man she was seeing had a problem with building business and them failing. I would also liked to have know what happen to them if they make the business work or if he took her money and dropped her when it ran out.

I thought this was a really great read with a lovely plot. It was well written with wonderful characters filled with humor. She gives you very strong characters both head strong but willing to bend and grow. Normal people who stand up for what they believe and can admit when they are wrong. She gives you people who have mortals and worth ethic the way it use to be. The stand united no matter what even though hard ships they stand beside each other. It is a pretty clean read with a little heat with no stepping over the line. I really enjoyed this read and think most people will. This is the first I have read of this author. I have enjoyed her writing style and look forward to reading more of her work.

A young couple emigrate to the United States. They love each other for 44 years. The city of Boise, Idaho that they live in has undergone many changes, especially their neighborhood, mostly for the worse. Giovanni Moretti, as an architect, wants to rebuild a testament to the ageless beauty of his part of the city, but his company's financial position doesn't allow him to build his dream building which will renew the past vitality of the neighborhood. His wife, Mariangela, doesn't think that this project can become reality.
Francesca, dutiful daughter of Giovanni & Mariangela, trained in the construction business since a little girl, is thrust into an alliance of an unsuspected nature, with a rival architect from a rival construction company.
There follows a story of falling in love, of creating new hope and life for a dying neighborhood, and the strength and love of family ties.

I received this book free and volunteered to read it and provide an honest review. I loved this story! And I'm not just saying that because it was given to me. It was a fun read of a sweet romance. I really liked how Francesca's Italian family were so close, how we found out about each of her siblings and what they were facing, how they all pitched in to help in the family construction business, how she meets Kyle, his problems, etc. There was a lot going on. This story keeps moving and keeps you interested right up to the end. I liked how Kyle and Francesca meet, how they get to know each other rather than just falling in bed together. And Francesca's girlfriends are so funny. When they secretly create an on-line dating site for her because they think she should get out more - hysterical!
This is a fun story and I really enjoyed reading it.

"I received a copy of this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for my honest review." I really enjoyed this book. This is a family saga about Giovanni and Mariangela who fell in love in Italy and immigrated to America where Giovanni started his construction business in Idaho and Mariangela raised their 4 children in a loving hard working family. When Giovanni dies suddenly the family has to find a way to carry on and with the help of a competitor , Kyle, they are successful. Francisca and Kyle are forced to work closely together and as they work together to complete Giroanni's dream project an attraction develops between them. This is the first of a 3 book series but can be read as a stand alone. I definitely want to read the rest of the books in this series.

Beautiful story! I loved the whole plot, with the Italian family and their business, with the competitor coming into the story. Sparks fly with Kyle and Francesca, and it's a romantic tale from start to finish. I enjoyed it a lot. There are lots of colorful characters with the family members a friends, with some emotional and fun twists. I highly recommend this book. Looking forward to more by this author. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.

The book matches the title. It is a sweet romance that contains very little heat. There were aspects of Francesca's and Kyle's interactions that I enjoyed, as well as getting a peak into Boise, however, the book dragged. There were quite a few scenes that felt like they were filling up space. A book of this length, if I'm hooked, can take me about a day between my commute on the train and then reading at night.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, it was well written and introduced many characters who I imagine will have their stories told in future books. This story centred around Francesca and Kylie and how their relationship developed during a time of sadness and confusion within Francesca's family. It was a sweet read with warmth and family values and a feel good ending. I would recommend this book and look forward to further books in the From The Heart series.

Family. Integrity. Romance.

An enjoyable book that takes you on a set paced romance journey. It’s a grab a cup of your favorite coffee and curl up in your blanket kind of read. I mean, come on, sometimes you just have to come off of the fast paced wham bam thank you mam kind of ride and enjoy a sweet romance. A big thanks to the author for sharing this story. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this author.

Let me start by saying that overall, I liked this book. But it dragged for me in places, to the point where I needed to put it down and circle back to it later. I think probably the first half of the book I felt that way.

The romance between Francesca and Kyle was sweet with little heat involved. I enjoyed their relationship and the interplay between their competing companies.

I liked the relationship between Franci and Kyle, but the narrative was enhanced by all the subplots. The narrative never lags, not for a minute, and you are constantly wanting to know how the next event is going to affect Franci's and Kyle's outcome. I found the story a real page-turner and recommend it.

So overall it wasn't bad and the story line was pretty good.
My issue is with all the narrative going on and the flow I guess? It just seemed odd to me at times. Also some parts of the book seemed to drag on while others were just so rushed.

Like I said it is not a bad quick read. If your hoping for anything X rated this is not it.

A feel-good romantic story rich with detail and full of caring family. If you're looking for sex on the second page, you won't find it here - there was an immediate attraction between Kyle and Francesca, but a slow build-up to a relationship - very nicely done. This book was well-written with a great little epilogue that was icing on the cake! I would highly recommend it to fans of romance.
