I really liked this book. It's a great quick introduction to FPGAs. The think I liked the most is that it has a good simple description of the main design flows in terms of bringing an IC from a high level design into synthesis.

About the style, the writing is simple and direct to the point. Plus, it has several small historical explanations about why certain things in FPGAs and IC design are the way they are right now.

I would really recommend it as an introduction to FPGA's
