Donut Mystery #23, Raspberry Revenge, From New York Times Bestselling Author, Jessica Beck When Mayor George Morris’s chief rival, Harley Boggess, is found murdered while sitting behind the mayor’s desk in city hall, it looks as though George may have dispatched his competition permanently. When the mayor goes missing immediately afterwards, things appear to be even worse, and it’s up to Suzanne, her mother, and Grace to work together to uncover who really killed the councilman before the mayor’s future—and his freedom—are extinguished forever.

Jessica Beck loves donuts, and has the figure to prove it. It's amazing what people can convince themselves is all in the name of research! For each recipe featured in the donut mysteries, a dozen more are tried and tested.
When not concocting delicious treats, Beck enjoys the rare snowfalls near her home in the foothills of North Carolina.
Well, I really didn't expect that the whole team would get together in this one, but there you go. I am glad things turned out the way they did in the end of this book. Who knows what's going to happen next, maybe a little one could be on the way, by the talk at the beginning. Enjoy!
Another enjoyable read in the Donut Shop Mystery series. This time someone is found dead in the Mayor's office in his chair and the mayor is missing. Susanne know it can't possibly be the mayor so she won't rest until she finds the killer and clears her friend. Another great mystery.
I don't want to sound mean to a fellow human being (author), but this book was boring. I've complained in my reviews of this series, book after book after book, and people ask why I keep reading the series. (A very good question.) I never really had an answer but after this installment, I realize the books - even though badly written with unlikable characters- were fast paced, easy reads, and even kind of "comfortable" in a weird way I wish wasn't true. (Because there are so many better books for me out there.) But this book just went on and on saying nothing. For long stretches of time, nothing really happened. Maybe I'll finally be released from continuing to read this series.
And what's with the titles? There was no raspberry in the book, and revenge was not the motive. In fact, a little kid asked for a raspberry donut and Suzanne said they were out. What the heck is that?
Raspberry Revenge is the latest (Book 23) in the Donut Mystery series, which is a culinary & cozy type of mystery. Three recipes are included at the end of the story: "A Simple Raspberry Glaze"(which sounds very good), "Raspberry and Cream Filling", & "Pumpkin Apple Spice Donuts". The series should be read in order. Suzanne has matured as the series has progressed and has become a much better investigator as well. As with the others in the series, this was a quick and enjoyable read.
I have read most of the books in this series and Raspberry Revenge is the latest. On the whole it's a well crafted mystery, once again featuring Suzanne Hart and company. I am always happy with a mystery that does not give up the who done it too early in the book. I never even considered the doer so it did come as a surprise. The end did leave me wondering if this might be the last book in the series by Jessica Beck.
I have enjoyed all of the "Donut Mysteries" books by Jessica Beck. From the fun, likeable characters to the small village of April Springs, NC, to the donut recipies, the books will keep you entertained. Great reads! Word of warning: Hard to get through them without heading to the nearest donut shop!
