Did we all read the same book? I had very high hopes for this book after hearing Sarah on a podcast, and was sure I'd be giving it five stars as I put it in my Amazon basket. Here is what really happened! The book is 95% vaguely relevant testimonials. The author's original content is sprinkled throughout the book, and it boils down to exactly this: believe in yourself, work hard, and make a vision board. That's it. The audio book was very difficult to get through, as every 60 seconds or so, a word or catchphrase preceded by "hashtag" interrupted the text. I have never encountered a more obnoxious audio book. I wish I'd bought the hard copy to flip through and glean what little information one can get from this book. There was a point in the book when the author says she was unable to secure an interview with a high profile individual, and excused it by saying she couldn't manifest when it comes to other people. Not a few paragraphs later, there is a statement relating to the idea that if someone doesn't manifest something they'd like, it's because they quit too soon. Which way is it, Sarah? Overall, this book is like a single crawfish--delicious to some, but too much effort for little or no reward for others (and the whole process made me feel gross). I believe in the concept of what is referred to as "manifesting," I believe in working hard, I even believe in the concept of the vision board--but I don't believe in this book.
This book/bootcamp changed my life and business. It made me begin to start using the tools I didn't know I had already to make what I want to come into my real life. I have done some really crazy things after doing the steps in this book like being on the CBS the Talk, and flying to NYC for FREE!!! All I did was make it a reality and had it on my vision board and did the rest of the steps. I am about 1 month out in my business to be coming a 6 figure earner!!!! Ya, Little Ol' me! Thank you Sarah Centrella for changing my life with this amazing opportunity! This book was my first book to personal development and the rest of my life! MUST HAVE BOOK
I cannot begin to describe how this book helped catapult my life. I had been with the same company for 20 years and had zero desire to move up. I was actually resigning myself to just surviving paycheck to paycheck. I was ok with being complacent now although I had always been a visionary growing up, it seemed the hum drum of daily life had snuffed that fire out. Through a series of divine appointments, I believe, I was able to participate in boot camp for this book and the fire that was in me as a child was renewed, from the time I started reading this book to the time I finished, so many amazing things started happening. It seemed with each step I took with the book the universe would just get out of my way and bow down to my desires. The best news, was when I was promoted out of 137 candidates (way more qualified on paper than I was) and now I am in a job I LOVE! Sarah's book helps you to reignite that fire we were born with, the idea that anything is possible becomes a reality again. If you need a boost, if you need a total life make over, this is the book for you. Sarah outlines in 8 simple steps how to combine...The Hustle...with The Believe to help everything that is yours, find you.
This book has seriously changed my life. Yes, I was allowed to read it before being published as part of the HBRBOOTCAMP.COM. The book is layer out in such a way that each step builds on another until the final explosion. This can help in all areas of you life but my journey and focus was to open my mind to the amazing possibilities since working the steps I have a clear picture of my future goals and desires and my confidence has skyrocketed. I am so thankful and wantwhoever is reading this review to be able to have this amazing opportunity too.
I like self-help books. They clear my mind from the fiction that normally I read. While I love them, It usually takes me a week or two to finish. Not because it's not enjoyable, but because I can only read so much non-fiction at a time. This was not the case with 'Hustle Believe Receive', I couldn't stop reading. I was completely hooked. The author has a similar story to my mom, and it's pretty funny they're both named Sarah! My mom is a big believer in the subject of this book, and it's worked wonders in her life. I think that really pushed my interest in this book.
Sarah's 8-step plan is really simple, and they way she broke it up made it seem attainable. There is no reason why you shouldn't 'Hustle' your way to your dreams. After starting this blog due to my own '#earthquakemoment', I related to a lot of her stories and advice. I loved the different point of views that were put in this book. It really gives perspective on what makes a person successful! As someone that isn't religious in any way, I appreciated that her plan wasn't wrapped around a religion. Most of the self-help books I've read are normally encased in a believe that I don't have. All around, I enjoy this book and can't wait to get my mom's thoughts on it(she grabbed the audiobook). I'm really interested in reading more of what Sarah Centrella write. Easily a 5-star book for me!
Well if there's one thing I know it's that Sarah Centrella writes the way she speaks - she has a no BS approach to what she wants in life - this book is awesome - the life changing stories in it - from Sarah's, to the examples of successful people in here, gives you a whole new perspective on life - Hustle Believe Receive is no magic potion - no Secret formula - its down right hard to the point of a major reality check of "You are what you think" and no amount of sitting around waiting for it to fall from the sky will make your life better.. You actually have to change your whole thought process - Its takes Hustle, drive and believeing that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! I was on the HBR Bootcamp recently - and its changing my life and outlook on a daily basis! Absolutely loved this book from beginning to end - cried in every chapter - here's to the start of a Revolution! Well done Sarah! You're changing lives everyday !!
An awesome 8-Step guidebook to show you how to work towards your dream life!
How often do we let life simply happen to us -rather than for us? Using real life stories stories to show you it can be done, Sarah lays out a plan to Hustle, Believe, Receive your way to your dreams.
Sarah’s own comeback survival story as a single mom, to becoming a thriving entrepreneur will make you feel as though you too can create a life that you love. This book takes an honest approach that your dreams won’t magically rain from the sky with unicorns and rainbows. Dreams take Hustle to make them happen. I believe Sarah‘s honesty and well laid plan is what sets this manifesting book apart from all the others.
Whether you are a stay-at-home-parent, business executive or retired grandparent, this book has something to offer everyone. It offers a way to create a plan to help you start living your dreams!
Awesome! Will definitely be reading it again! Great inspiring stories that help with growth and getting out of your own way! Will definitely be reading many times over!!!!
Not a fan of this book at all! You could read the title of the book and get the “concept” better than reading vague stories that loosely fit the strategy on becoming successful. I listened on audible and wanted to claw my ears off with the amount of hashtags in this book! It was really distracting and unnecessary! Skip this one!
I can't say enough good things about this book! It was a pleasure to read; it was easy to stay engaged and is so relatable to anyone, no matter what stage you are at in your life. It's for everyone that wants to live a more intentional, purposeful and fulfilling life. It provided me the boost I needed to start dreaming again, setting goals and getting things moving in my life again, because for so long I had lived a stagnant life. I HIGHLY recommend this book. It has changed my life for the better in less than 6 months. I was ready for more in life and, if you are too, this book is for you! Enjoy!
I don’t understand why this book has such great reviews. It’s got some insightful information, but nothing new. All the hashtags became too annoying and distracted. The stories of the people she interviewed are too short and vague to be inspiring. I believe in her ideas, I just couldn’t get into her book at all. I finally stopped on the 5th chapter. If you’re going to check it out, do not listen to it. The reader will annoy you, I promise. I didn’t finish the book so I’d rely on reviews of those who finished it and not mine. I just felt this book was disappointing based on all the hype. I will not be finishing this book.
First off, the audiobook was extremely annoying with the constant hashtag references, some were quite long and to be honest, I kept giving the book a chance despite being over irritated by this. Maybe because I'm in my fifties, I am not conditioned to think of life in hashtags and it's my age, which segways into the next point, this book is ideal for people much younger, and not as relevant to my age group, I eventually gave up on the book and made that decision. If you know someone starting off it's a great book, otherwise, its not that relevant.
Hustle Believe Receive is a timeless self-help book you can read over and over for constant inspiration. It's also a wonderful new take on self-help and how to change your life for the better, now. I've even gifted this fantastic book to others!! It's truly an amazing read. Sarah, the author, knows the blueprint for helping you make a better life & live your dreams in 8 simple steps. Just follow the blueprint. I love it!
I had the privilege of getting an advanced reading of this book, and I have to say that reading it and applying the 8 steps truly changed my life. This book helped me get clear about what I wanted my life to look like and then how to work to make that happen. If you feel stuck and want to make real changes in your life, read this book and put the steps into action. You won't regret it!
This book is kickass!! The experience of reading this book and doing the work required (The Hustle) and following the author, her life, her stories ... just totally changed my life.
It's amazing how the changes, when applied, has a snowball effect on the rest of your life. I defy ANYONE who has read the book, applied it's teachings, and still has the same old life. IMPOSSIBLE I say!
I listened to the audiobook and it was cringeworthy. Saying the same hashtags repeatedly takes away from the entire message. I found the book to provide to little to no value due to this and couldn’t finish.
I’m all for self-help and motivational books but this isn't just for me. While some of her points are valid, I don’t see anything unique or new with what's in the book. It's just like listening to a friend give you life advices. I’m also not a huge fan of reading/listening to other people's life stories, and this book is composed of 70% stories of other people and 30% her life story - so I just skipped thru those parts because I personally don’t find it interesting. The overuse of hashtags were annoying, too. I don’t even understand the point of using those because the point of using hashtags is for people to click thru the links and easily navigate discussions in those specific topics. The hashtags were just distracting and nonsense.
This book might work for some but this isn't what I’m looking for. I’m surprised I even finished this whole thing.
I love Sarah Centrella SO MUCH. Her podcast, social media, and #FutureBoards book is all the rage, but this book didn't sit right with me. While there were inspiring parts, I felt like this whole book was hearing OTHERS' stories. I would have loved to have had a few more chapters on Sarah's story and then use the HBR Method with that...It gets old hearing the typical NBA player, fashion designer, or mom of 5. I want to hear about the college student who changed their major and had no idea what their next plan was. I want to hear about the newly divorced couple who conquered their dreams of travelling the world while finding self love. Overall, I got so much more out of #Futureboards book than I did the HBR Method. I still do recommend her books though.
Had several kids and had nothing. Sold ring to pay for rent.
Write down every experience you want to have before you die. Does it matter how crazy or far-fetched it is just right down the dreams.
Ex: What have I always wanted to do or try? Where do I want to travel? What do I want to accomplish in this life? What would I do if I won the lottery? Fear is an illusion and if whatever you're afraid of you look right in the face and look at worst case scenario you'll find you'll always be fine.
I heard Sarah Centrella on a podcast and liked what she had to say, so I picked up her book. But this was hard to read. The endless hashtagging of everything was very distracting and the book was largely composed of other people's life stories, annotated to show how they fit into the author's system for success. It was ok, and I picked up a few good ideas, but this wasn't what I was hoping for.
I don’t understand how this book has such high reviews. 80% of the book is just other successful people’s stories. I’m all for manifesting and believing in my own thoughts and actions to get me where I want to be in life but this book had no great advice or fantastic insight. I was really disappointed in this book. Lastly by no means am I an editor but the editing errors were awful and caught my eye every time. Typos and even repeat paragraphs.
This book and the Author herself are amazing! I listened to it on Audible and really liked it so found her on Facebook and actully chatted with her one day and she says she prefer the book itself, lol... and I did as well, it's easier to follow through on the lessons given for each chapter. This book really helps us women impower ourselves and toss the excuses from lifes experiances that we use to hold ourselves back. Thank you
I feel like maybe I read a different book than everybody else. the book I read was filled with vague testimonials, a ton of cliches, gratuitous foul language and every other word being preceded by "hash tag". in all honesty I didn't finish the book because the hashtag thing was the most annoying thing I've ever read.
I hashtag listened to the audiobook. You hashtag know that older hashtag person who hashtag tries to speak like the hashtag young people? Well, hashtag, this author obviously hashtag believes that to sound hashtag young you have to hashtag use hashtag the word hashtag. Hashtag a lot. Hashtag rage inducing.
How did no one told the author at any stage of the process that it was not working?
This is not a book about quick fixes to get you to the full potential but a book about how other people did it and their advice to the reader. I really enjoyed the book although it took me a while to read.
I really liked the message that the author presents, she is able to modernize the message and show her journey from being completely broken to a success story. It was interesting to see her journey and how it wasn't an instant success.
This book was an easy read with great knowledge while also giving real life stories to give merit to book. It is written a little bit social media like but it works with the premise of the book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book
