The fact that I vividly remember all of the places named within made this book so much more real. I too stopped, had coffee, and reflected along the way from Valdez, through Willow Creek, Copper Center, Chistochina, and Tok (I didn't go past Tetlin Junction, I went West towards Fairbanks instead).

As a fun fact, my car ran out of gas near the top of Thompson Pass just as a bad storm was drawing in. I ended up putting the engine in neutral and coasting down to Valdez for 20km. 100 years and one paved highway after Thomas passed through there, the mountain still commands respect.

Written by a seventh grader!

No twist and turns, no drama buildup from the pursuit of the Bad Guy (Van Sant)
! Mining was interesting! That's it.

Really repetitive. Not a bad book though. I did enjoy it enough to finish it so I'll leave you with that.
