Acts of Honor #2

An Act of Salvation

Rate this book
Sometimes two broken pieces make a whole.

He’s the one she’s always loved.

She’s the one he could never have.

A forbidden night of passion resulted in years of heartbreak when he walked away. Now she’s in danger and needs his help.

Trust doesn’t come easy for FBI Agent Nick Stone, especially when it comes to love, but he’ll risk it all for Katelyn Slade.

Including his heart.

Bullets fly, betrayals are exposed, and the flames from their past ignite.

His protection might be what saves her but in the end she will be his salvation.

This is Book two in the Acts Of Honor series, the spin-off series to Men Of Honor. It’s Nick and Katelyn’s story and is told in dual POV, has an HEA with no cliffhanger and it can be read as a standalone. However, I highly recommend that you read the Men Of Honor series prior, as characters play recurring roles in both series.

Warning: Due to mature subject matter, such as explicit sexual situations and coarse language, this story is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18.

K.C. Lynn is a small town girl living in Western Canada. She grew up in a family of four children—two sisters and a brother. Her mother was the lady who baked homemade goods for everyone on the street and her father was a respected man who worked in the RCMP. He’s since retired and now works for the criminal justice system. This being one of the things that inspires K.C. to write romantic suspense about the trials and triumphs of our heroes.

K.C. married her high school sweetheart and they started a big family of their own—two adorable girls and a set of handsome twin boys. They still reside in the same small town but K.C.’s heart has always longed for the south, where everyone says ‘y’all’ and eats biscuits and gravy for breakfast.

It was her love for romance books that gave K.C. the courage to sit down and write her own novel. It was then a beautiful world opened up and she found what she was meant to do…write.

When K.C.’s not spending time with her beautiful family she can be found in her writing cave, living in the fabulous minds of her characters and their stories.

Nick and Kate grew up together, as he was her older brother best friend. Both with complicated family issues, neither of them intends to act on the feelings they have for each other.
Until one night changes it all… and it’s the night before Nick goes away for his FBI training leaving a broken hearted Katelyn behind.
Seven years late, Katelyn’s brother is in trouble so she calls the only person she knows that can help, Nick.
Nick comes back to help her and when Katelyn suddenly gets in danger as well, he will make sure nothing will happen to her. After all, the only thing that will come between them are the old feelings that never did went away, and now are coming back stronger than ever.

I don’t know how KC Lynn does it, but she always makes me fall completely in love with her books and her heroes. This was no exception: a sexy, sweet and full action second chance romance, it grabbed my attention from the first page. There was time where the story seemed to concentrate a lot on Kona’s and lose a little of focus on those two, but not enough to make me fall out of love with those two. I love second chance romances and this one didn’t disappoint. Just another reason why KC Lynn is on my auto-buy list.

Rating:
Characters Development: Kate was your traditional KC Lynn heroine, sweet, loyal, sassy and with a little of attitude. Very easy to like her. In the same way Nick was your traditional KC Lynn hero: broody, sexy, over-protective, possessive, sweet and a completely over the top alpha male. In other words impossible not to love. But one of the best parts of this book was definitely see more of everyone of the “Men of Honor” series, but also seeing Ryker and Emily again. I loved it! Now just waiting for Kona’s book.

THIS IS THE WORST BOOK!
It's may be the worst book I read in a while.

The hero takes her virginity and then leaves her without a f*cking word. He never says goodbye after they have been friends for years and he says he loves her and has always done so. BULL CRAP!
Then he comes back, and with NO GROVEL AT ALL,
She sleeps with him? WTF?
What kind of a stupid dumb slut are you now!?
The guy leaves you without a word for 7 years and he never says "I am sorry I am a complete dick!"
Cause he totally is!!!
description
I am sooo mad right now!
He does not even wear a condom and she say it's all good cause "I have an IUD I am always protected."
OKAY I CAN'T DO STUPID PEOPLE HERE!
I AM OVER THIS SHIT!!!
Here is what I say to this:
image: description
Btw I skimmed to the end here and he does say sorry only after he put her thru hell (drama lama to the max) and with her history of abuse I don't understand how she even let him have a second and even a third chance with her here!!
The whole story was one very frustrating read for me.

I may carefully try one more book from this author to see if this is just a chemistry thing!
Trying to be fair here!
Every book can't be winner for everyone!

(Please note that this review contains curse words. If you don't like the F word then please don't read on).

“You are more”.

HOLY FUCKING FLAPS!

Well she’s gone and done it again!

Just when you think KC Lynn couldn’t write a book as good as the last she goes and writes this fucker!

Let me tell you before anything else, Resisting Temptation made me bawl my fucking eyes out, I’m talking ugly fucking crying but this fucker is up there with the worst case of a sob fess!

Fucking hell I was sitting at my desk at work crying my fucking eyes out! I’m talking running to the bog to blow me fucking nose! I got to the point where I wanted to message her and say ‘STOP MAKING ME CRY YOU WHORE!!”

Then I was happy again so it’s all fucking good!

Three words.

NICK FUCKING STONE!

That man makes my muff tingle! He is one broody, dirty talking, holy fucking god of a man! And he likes a little bum fun so he is a fucking top bloke in my books!

He is a broken soul and his childhood will…well make you run to the loo and blow ya beak! Reading from his 6 year old POV, yep I didn’t handle that too well and broke down! I just wanted to climb in the book and cuddle him and never let go and then fast forward 21 years later and sit on his face.

And Katelyn! Like all of KC’s heroines, she was a cute as a button! I loved her sassy mouth and beautiful heart. She never stopped loving Nick no matter what he put her through and you literally felt your heart breaking in half when she was hurt.

Also seeing more of Kolan made me and my nipples very happy! He is one moody bastard! Just how I like them!

The whole story just kept me on the edge of my seat and adrenaline pumping through me! I didn’t know what the fuck was going down and I was so nervous to fucking find out!

Ohh did I mention there is anal in this book?

I loved seeing the whole gang again! And yes I may have leaked when I saw my man Cade and cried with joy when I say my BFF Ruthie

How did I not know there was a spin off, of the Men of Honor series ???

 photo tumblr_inline_o84inpKKf91qa7k0a_500_zpsqcxdgdcv.gif

When I found out, I jumped right into the second book. I know I should have started with the first one, but I'm known for reading books out of order.

 photo tumblr_lnkzzv295i1qaimf2o1_500_zps7h2jzc9r.gif

The reason I started with book 2 and not 1, is because this is Katelyn's book and I've wanted to read her story since forever !! I wasn't dissapointed. Katelyn and Kayla have always been my favorits.

Kate didn't have it easy growing up with an abussive father. Thankfully she had her brother Kolan and he brothers best friend Nick, looking out for her and protecting her. As they get older, feelings between Kate and Nick start to change. Kate wants Nick very bad, but he's holding back....he doesn't want to get involved with anyone, he's not interested in relationships and love, no matter how big his attraction is to Kate.

A man can only take so much though and when Kate is almost 18, Nick breaks and gives in. They agree, that it's a one time deal. Kate wants more, but she knows Nick isn't looking for more. Once is better than nothing, and they will just go back to being friends after.

What she didn't count on, was Nick's departure afterwards. Nick has always been there for her, just like her brother, and him just leaving hits her hard.

Nick didn't want to leave Kate behind, but he feels it's better this way. He's not relationship material and his acceptance into the FBI is a dream come true for him. So he goes...

Fast forward 7 years and Kate is desperate. Her brother is missing and he's also in big trouble. Non of her friends (except for Faith) seem to believe in Kolan's innocence and she has only one person left to turn to. Only Nick knows Kolan as well as she does and for her brother, she is willing to put her pride aside and call the FBI agent for help.

 photo tumblr_nwh2r568GI1thfrfvo1_500_zpsfkomvonk.gif

Things don't go as expected at first, but soon old feelings resurface....

 photo 85cdd272698edbb25940e3b039277a69_zpsn6gqlaum.jpg

I really enjoyed reading this one. Kate was an awesome heroine and I really liked dirty talking Nick. It was shitty of him to leave her when they were younger, but at least he left her a letter explaining and I could understand where he was coming from. He was a great guy, so I couldn't be mad at him.

I also want to give some extra credit to Kolan. He's an amazing brother. I liked him from the start and I'm very curious about his story, especially because his interests seem to be a bit darker than most of the other hero's.

4 stars from me and please give us Kolans book soon !!!

An Act of Salvation was a highly enjoyable read for me and I'm very happy I didn't let it sit on my Kindle any longer. I loved the relationship that Kate and Nick had, even during the times I wanted to slap both of them for being so stupid. Yes they could both be very annoying at times but that's what made their connection so real for me and I loved seeing them together.

This story was a very intriguing one and I was hooked from the second I brought it up on my Kindle. I really liked how K.C Lynn entwined the lives of Kate and Nick and brought them together after so many years apart. Overall, this is positively a recommended read from me.

★★★ 3 Stars ★★★

An Act of Salvation is the second in a series of novels which are a spin off of the A Men of Honor Series, In this instalment, we follow the story of Katelynn & Nick.

Katelyn along with her older brother Kolan grew up in a neglectful and abusive household, but not only did they have each other to turn to for comfort and understanding, they had their friend Nick Stone, who was a kindred spirit and was also a little broken from his past.

As they grew up, Katelyn and Nick felt a pull towards each other and this culminated in a night of passion when they were in their late teens, the night before Nick left for his FBI training.

Years later, Katelyn has never forgotten Nick, nor the way he left her so abruptly, but when her brother goes missing after being accused of a heinous crime, she turns to the only other man she ever trusted to help her.

For me, this was a nice easy read, I found it very sweet and cutesy. It was a fabulously endearing second chance romance. Katelyn was very sassy and an all round decent character, and Nick was your typical KC Lynn, sexy alpha.

Personally, I can't wait to get to Kolan's book so maybe that's why I was left feeling like An Act of Salvation was a lead up, rather than a story in it's own right. A lot of the events that took place were involving Katelyn's brother, and although her and Nick were the the focal point of this story, they were heavily involved in solving the mystery Kolan's disappearance.

All in all, it was an enjoyable read.

An Act of Salvation (Acts Of Honor )
by K.C. Lynn
5 Stars only because I can’t give her more!!!

So everyone knows that I love anything that KC writes. Anything. When I first met Nick in Beautifully Insightful, I sent her messages that I wanted to know what he was hiding. What is his back story. Her reply was simply, you have to wait and see!!

So my wait is finally over:

So for those of you who know me know that I’m a prologue whore!

So like you all know KC Lynn knows how to reach into your soul and rip out your heart. And she didn’t disappoint this time.

I believe that I messaged her that she was just mean. So very mean.

Sometimes two broken pieces make a whole.
He’s the one she’s always loved.
She’s the one he could never have.>

Nick Stone and Katelyn Slade grew up together. Nick being her brother Kolan’s best friend. I love the brothers best friend books.

While Katelyn openly declared her love for Nick, he was more reserved. He wasn’t the right one for Katelyn. He was leaving. He was getting out. He didn’t want to cross that line with her. He knew better. Except he can be pushed only so far!

My breath is locked inside of my chest as those beautiful yet guarded blue-gray eyes peer down at me, a war raging in their depths.

But after their one night together Katelyn is forced to face the fact that Nick left. He has just up and left with not so much as a good bye. Leaving her to grieve the only man that she’s ever love.

You are sitting there and you are broken hearted you are grieving for her, for her first love, for her first everything. Because that is what Nick Stone was to her.

They both moved on. They both grew. They both became other people. Nick became an FBI Agent, Katelyn started her own hair salon. They were now adults, their paths never crossing paths, not even once. Till one phone call changes everything! SEVEN YEARS LATER..SEVEN KC LYNN

“Nick,” I croak on a whisper
The line goes completely silent.
I quickly clear my throat. “It’s Katelyn.”
“I know.”
His response has my mouth going dry and a million thoughts racing through my mine. But I keep them at bay and get to the task at hand. “I know this is really out of the blue, but…I need your help.”

So what you guys have to know is that making that phone call took everything out of her. It took her basically reaching rock bottom to reach out to the only person that she ever let all the way in. He is the only person beside Kolan that she trusted with her everything, and he broke her.

Nick knows that he needs to help her if only to make sure she’s ok. Being the Katelyn that he remembers he knows that she doesn’t do what she’s told and knows that she will not do what she’s told and is he ever right because soon.

Bullets fly, betrayals are exposed, and the flames from their past ignite.

In typical KC fashion you are thrown into this crazy ride. You are reading so fast trying to get over with it, wondering what will come next. The amount of twists and turns leave you speechless.

Nothing could have prepared Nick and Katelyn to be stuck with each other. He was only doing her a favour, she was only looking for help. What they aren’t expecting is that for the past feelings to fall right into place. No matter how fast they ran, no matter how they fought it in the end all roads lead to each other.

Several minutes pass as I told him extra tight, reveling in our hearts beating as one. He presses a kiss to my neck, then my shoulder, then my mouth, lingering a little longer there.

You see his heart is locked up tight. There is nothing and no one that can be let in. He made that mistake once and he can’t do it again. The only problem is that he can’t turn away from her he can’t make the same mistake again. He has saved her more than once so he knows that she is his salvation!

Just like that she has nailed it again. She has showed us that no matter how much you try to fight fate, it has it’s own plan for you. That no matter how many times your heart get hurt and battered it still beats and it still loves. It loves wholeheartedly and this is what this book did to me!

Loved this one! I can't believe I bought this in Jan and just now read it! KC Lynn knows how to write about a hot broken alpha male and a sassy female to go with him. Loved Nick and Katelyn! I'm so glad we also got more of the crew from the Men of Honor series in this book. I love them! Can't wait to read the next one about Katelyn's brother!

This book....This book...This OH SO AWESOME AND AMAZING BOOK WITH AN AMAZING AUTHOR... I LOVE IT TO THE MOON AND BACK!!!

I am lost for words when I finished reading this book and to be honest, this is just one of those moments where I do not know how to sincerely express what I feel. See?I was done reading it several hours ago but I do not know what to say or what to write as I was just staring blankly over my reader..lost for words...I do not even know where to begin because holy hell K.C Lynn just did it again. It's not surprising I know but as what they said, "expect the unexpected" . Yes! I'm an avid K.C Lynn fan and I've been stalking her page patiently/impatiently waiting for a new release. Oh no,You cannot blame me because her works are works of PERFECTION and An Act Of Salvation is one them.

This is Katelyn and Nick's story and in true K.C Lynn's works, everything I had just read feels so real. The characters are so adorable...well that's a given, a cute and and sassy mouthed heroine and an hot alpha male lead and with a great storyline and a perfect plot..what's not to love? But you know what?it's more than that. It's really way more than that. It might haven't touch as sensitive situations as the past books but the emotion that I felt with this book cannot be explained. The pain from their past... ahhh..I was on the edge...my heart was racing and it's in knots...the emotion was just too raw... I haven't even realized I was sniffing then was ugly crying because what the f*ck??Last time I checked I laughed and swooned with them and then found out I was a mess. This book just really did several things to me. I was just so glad that behind the storms and bumps they've been through in the end they finally found their HEA!

To sum it up???This story rocks!!!the author too rocks!!! This is highly recommended!!!

Review by Lisa Kane

"When you see how big the universe really is, it makes all your problems feel a little smaller."

Katelyn Slade has made a new life for herself with her cousin Faith and her friends in Charleston. There was a time when it was just her brother Kolan that she could count on. Her father was abusive and her mother let him treat his kids however he wanted. But they made it out alive and although she made some poor choices in men, she's got her own salon and life is good.

But then Kolan is accused of rape and Katelyn's world is rocked right down to the foundation. She knows this can't be true. Kolan Slade, is the heavyweight champion in the EFC, and has a good head on his shoulders. Katelyn knows he's innocent. But how is she going to help him?

She calls the one man she knows that will have Kolan's back-Nick Stone. It's been seven years since she saw the man who broke her heart. The man who left a goodbye letter after spending the most beautiful night of her life with her.

"I can't be what you need. I ...I can't give you forever and that's what you deserve."

Nick is an FBI agent, living in Florida. He left town and he worked his way up from the trenches. Along with his partner Ryder Jameson, they are a dynamic duo in law enforcement. But he has one weakness-Katelyn. He might have left her behind, but he never replaced her in his heart. There is nothing he wouldn't do for her.

"The thing is, Katelyn, you think I forgot, but I never stopped watching. I've always known."

Katelyn knows that Nick will help with Kolan, but she knows he will eventually return to his life in Florida. But what she doesn't know is why Nick can't commit or allow himself to give in to the love he feels for Katelyn. He keeps that info locked down tight. But he is only a man, and he can't help but want Katelyn. How could they not give in to the passion they both feel for one another?

If all goes well I'll get in and out quickly. Because I have no doubt that seeing the one girl I've never forgotten, the only one to ever penetrate through my defenses is going to fuck with my head and emotions in the worst way.

This is going to turn out to be quite an adventure for them. There is so much going on behind the scenes and so many players all up to no good that their lives are in constant danger. When faced with life or death situations will the truth about Nick and his past come out? Can he stop pushing Katelyn away and let himself trust in love?

I've come to realize if there is one part of our body we have no control over it's the heart. It has a mind of its own and it doesn't give a damn about consequences.

I adored KC Lynn's Men of Honor series and was just as infatuated with Beautifully Insightful. Seeing characters from both the books merge in this story was a win/win for me! I never tire of them; each has had their own story and they exist beyond the pages in my mind.

The series just got so much better.

This book was just brilliant. I was dying to read this after the lil teasers at the end of first book in this series An Act of Redemption. I knew it was goin to be crazy from the beginning and I wasn't wrong. Katelyn is the sister of Kolan how has gotten himself into a stick situation. Things weren't looking good for him but Katelyn believed in her brother he meant to world to her. He has protected her all his life and he wasn't goin to stop. So she knew what was being said could never be true. She just wished the people around her could think the same. She felt lonely and lost there was only one person that would help her but she has seen that person in 7 year but she needed the guy that she luvd.

Free Image Hosting at FunkyIMG.com

Nick wow is amazing. Things haven't been easy for him and he's made some stupid mistakes. One is leaving the girls that meant the most to him. The one that's has never left his mind since he first lie eyes on her. Katelyn Slade she was the one that she left behind. She is his best friends sister the one he should have never touched. But she was more than that she was everything he just couldn't give her what she wanted, him. Until she called him asking for help with his best friend Kolan. Even after 7 years she still had the power to drive him crazy in everyway.

This story is just brilliant I was hooked straight away. I was dying to know what was goin on with Kolan and then there is Katelyn and Nick. Nothing was easy for them everything hard and it was what these characters had dealt with since they were young. They needed a HEA so much. They had to fight for everything but it was so worth it. Katelyn and Nick were made for each other they had grown up together he has protected her she meant everything to him and she felt the same but she could express thats where he couldnt. I luv how this story worked out the ending was just perfect I was so happy. I would highly recommend this book it was so good. This author is just brilliant I luv her writing and every character she writes just keep getting better and better. I'm so looking forward to Kolan book. I need more from this crazy sexy complex guy. I know it's goin to be just has good has the other books so excited being it on.

KC Lynn absolutely smashed it yet again. I knew she wouldn't disappoint but damn. Slick Nick just made his way into my KC favourites. Right from the first page this book will have you hooked. Full of mystery and tension I couldn't put it down.

Katelyn is the heroine all future heroines should be based on. She is strong as hell and not afraid to go for what she wants. That being Nick of course.

Nick is plagued by his past. He knows he will never be good enough for Kate. Not only is she younger than him but she is his best friends sister.

Will he be able to resist her a second time when she comes back into his life years later?

I loved this book. Like LOVED it. It's almost like KC had a list of things that I love in a story. Emotionally damaged man? Yes. Brothers best friend? Yes. Second chance love? Yes. Straight to the point, no shit heroine? Heck yes!

This could be read as a standalone but honestly, all of the Men of Honor books should be read first. Not because they have any bearing on this book, just because you get a better idea of why Katelyns friends are the way they are, Why Kayla is so crazy funny and why the men are so protective.

I could read KC's books all day and I'm ridiculously excited for the next book in the series.

I just can't even...where on earth am I supposed to start...how do I begin to describe the way that this book made me feel?

An Act of Salvation is the journey of Katelyn Slade and Nick Stone. From the very beginning you are pulled into something so raw, so real and heartfelt. Katelyn has known since she was a little girl that, Nick, has always been the one. But Nick is a little older, Nick is also her brother's best friend.
Nick wants to make something of himself, his life. Nick is also not ignorant to what he feels, feels what he probably shouldn't. He has spent years protecting his best friends younger sister, but when does caring become MORE?

Katelyn is simply, BEAUTIFUL. I loved that we get a journey with her character. Being able to see her from the sweet little girl, who despite the situations she is pushed through, still has it in her to protect. This then brings us to the HILARIOUS and sassy high school senior, followed on beautifully to becoming a successful woman and so much MORE.

Nick Stone, the man that dreams are made of. My heart is literally bursting from the things that he made me feel. I swooned, I wanted to kick his face in, I laughed, his inner monologue is GENIUS and don't even get me started on the sexiness the man brings. HOLY FREAKING... I am sporting one gigantic lady boner for this man and I couldn't be happier about it. He is alpha through to the bone.

I really do not want to spoil anything about this book. It is far too beautiful and deserves to be experienced by every reader. The whirlwind of emotions, heartfelt scenes and every single character makes you feel something, whether that is the good, the bad or the heart bursting emotion is something you need to feel for yourself.

K.C. Lynn is THE author who slings THE feels. She also writes THE sexiest alpha men to grace the book world, THE most inspiring female characters who take their places deep in your heart, but overall, her writing falls straight through to your soul and sets up camp along with every book she writes. This author isn't afraid to touch on sensitive subjects, it makes what she writes, REAL and this is why I would drop everything to read her latest release. This story is without a doubt one of my favourites K.C. Lynn has written and I know, I will return to this outstanding story, time and time again.

An Act of Salvation is simply, breathtaking.

5, You are More, Stars!!

“You are more.” Those three words wouldn’t mean anything to most people, but to me they are everything. They own my heart as much as the man next to me does and they were the best last words to hear before I fall into a peaceful slumber.”

“Live without regrets because life is too short.”

What an amazing read!! I absolutely loved loved it. K.C. Lynn has once again blown me away. I honestly don’t know how she does it. How is it possible to make me fall in love with each book that she writes? How is it possible for her to write such amazing characters? How is it possible to capture my heart and not let it go EACH TIME? I have no clue how she does it. But, each time I pick up one of her books, I can’t help but fall in love. I can’t help but get lost in the characters that she’s created. And I hope, I hope that never changes.

An Act of Salvation is told from dual points of view and follows the story of Nick and Katelyn. Katelyn has had a rough life. The only bright spot in her life is her brother and his best friend, Nick. Her brother is her protector and has tried to shield her from their home life. And Nick…..well, Nick is everything; her friend, her protector, the man that she loves. The two of them have denied their feelings for one another for so long…Until one night. One fateful night, the two of them give into what they’ve always wanted. However, Katelyn had no idea that she wouldn’t see Nick again for 7 long years. 7 years later, Katelyn’s brother has gone missing. She has no one else to go to for help, so she seeks out Nick. Not a single day has gone by that Nick hasn’t thought of Katelyn, so when he gets that phone call, he drops everything and goes to her. When the two of them are together, it’s as if no time has passed at all. As the search continues for Katelyn’s brother intensifies, it becomes harder and harder for the two of them to deny what’s growing between them. Will Nick and Katelyn finally get a chance at the happiness they so desperately deserve? Will they be able to find Katelyn’s brother before it’s too late????

I have to say, I loved everything about this book. This story is well written. There is so much heart and soul, you can just feel it oozing off of the pages. From the moment I met Katelyn, I was hooked. I admired her strength and determination. She was so much stronger than I thought she would be. I loved how fiercely she loved and protected those close to her. And Nick….I loved his character so much. I loved his alpha tendencies. I loved that even though he was an alpha male, he still showed his vulnerability. My heart ached for him and his past. I wanted him to see that he was deserving of love and to not let other peoples mistakes, dictate his life. And when you put Nick and Katelyn together, you just knew. You knew these two were meant to be; that the love that they shared was worth fighting for, even if they were too afraid to admit it.

An Act of Salvation is fantastic addition to The Acts of Honor Series. The story-line and characters are so captivating; it’s impossible to put it down. This story will frustrate you and intrigue you.It will keep you on your toes. It will pull at you heart. It will make you swoon. It will make you fall in love. Throw in some danger and some exciting twists, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for one incredible read. I honestly loved everything about this book; from start to finish. K.C. Lynn has once again provided me with a truly amazing read. The characters are real and the story is so full of heart. I honestly can’t say enough about this book. K.C. Lynn fans, you are not going to want to miss out on this one! I can’t wait to see where K.C. Lynn will take us next.

I have been staring at this empty review box on and off all day, contemplating what the hell I am suppose to write in here to do this book any justice without giving away any of the enjoyment of the story.

The way KC Lynn writes a book is nothing short of amazing, the way she draws you in from the very first page and weaves you into the world of her characters is incredibly talented.

Once again, she manages to captures the characters passion, chemistry and problems without once going 'over board'.

Jeez women, every book is just so much "more". Like I don't know she does it, she broke my heart but put it together again and I just can't, silent tears tracking down my face through the majority of the book yet had me smiling as the same time.

Amazing.

An Act of Salvation is the second book in the Acts of Honor series by the immensely talented KC Lynn. This book features characters we have met in previous books by this author but it can be read as a stand alone without missing a beat and as with all this author's books it has no cliffy and the epic HEA. The alpha male that gets brought to his knees by a small but mighty woman keeps getting better and better ever time this author picks up a pen.

Katelyn Slade grew up in Montana in a less than perfect environment with only her big brother Kolan and his best friend Nick to rely on. Both Kate's and Kolan's parents were the worst kind of people and they took out any and all anger and aggression on their children. After numerous altercations and drama Kolan saved up enough to get him and Katelyn to North Carolina to live near their cousin Faith and her parents to start over fresh. Katelyn worked her way through school and opened her own salon where she employs others and makes a good living. She finally feels like she is accomplishing what she is meant to do when her entire world falls out from underneath her feet. Katelyn's big brother is missing after being accused of something he could never do and the only person she can ask for help broke her heart the last time she saw him. Who knows if Nick will even remember who she is after seven long years of no contact...

Nick Stone is speechless when he gets a call from Katelyn Slade and his lack of response to her question for help just proves how stunned he is, not that he feels his very best childhood friend is guilty of heinous crimes - regardless of what she thinks. One after another the memories assault Nick of his one and only night with Kate and then how very much her and Kolan mean to him regardless of the distance or years it has been since they have spoken. Without any prompting Nick makes arrangements and hops on the first flight to North Carolina to help his childhood friends and come face to face with the one person who has always been more.

The writing and storylines just keep getting better, furthermore it has been such a pleasure to watch the evolution of these "Honorable Men" and how KC brings them to life. Kolan and Sophie will be the next in the series and we know the "controlling man" will definitely give us a run for our money and I for one can't wait to get to know him on a much deeper level :)

This is the second book in the Acts of Honor series and my favourite to date.

This time the story focuses on Katelyn and Nick. We have met Katelyn in previous books and I was pleased we were getting her story. Katelyn, Kolan (Her brother) and Nick were all best friends growing up, then one night everything changed and Nick left both Katelyn and Kolan behind to complete his FBI training. However when Kolan gets into trouble and her own safety is in danger Katelyn turns to the one person she has always trusted- Nick. Nick return to help Katelyn.

Both Nick and Katelyn have had a rough childhood and are broken souls but together they begin to heal each other. Katelyn has a sassy mouth and Nick is certainly a broody dirty talker. Even after years apart there is still strong chemistry between Nick and Katelyn.

I was hooked through the story throughout and there was plenty of twits and turns. For me I did feel that some of Nick issues from his childhood were dealt with a little quickly but overall I was really happy with how this book ended. I now can't wait to read Kolan's story. It was also great to see all the other characters from the previous books make an appearance.

Overall a great sexy, hot read and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I havnt read the series before and I don't know if I have read from K. C Lynn before but after this wild ride I definitely want to read more at least from the series. Enough drama and romance to keep me entertained and I loved the strong between the hero and heroine and how the grew closer and stronger as the story went on. Think this cualifies as an second chance romance and I loved it!

Again, I love how this series is new but still has the characters from the first one so intertwined. Strong characters, laughs, and suspense. I really liked Nick and Katelyn. This book would have ranked higher had the climax scene that is known in this author's books made more sense. I'm confused as to how everyone survived and that bothered me and made me rank it down.

Still, a great addition to this series. Loved seeing new characters being introduced too.

I know I've said this before and I will probably most definitely say it again. On occasion, I tend to read books and series out of order. So, after I read An Act of Redemption before I ever read the Men of Honor series, I promised my friend Marcia I would absolutely get to the Men of Honor series and I'm sorry to say, even though the whole series is on my Kindle I still have it on my TBR (sorry Marcia sad face emoji).

But guess what? I devoured An Act of Salvation and found a new book boyfriend to be in love with. Nick Stone, even his name is super swoon worthy. With steel blue-grey eyes, dark hair and a body Kate describes as lethal, he is male perfection. Add the decorative ink down one arm and across his shoulder to the mix with a huge alpha male vibe and I stopped breathing because he is everything every girl wants.

Nick hasn't had an easy life. Abandoned by his mother at age six, he vows to never love anyone again so he doesn't have to go through the hurt of losing them. Problem...he is very attracted to his best friends sister. Only he won't let himself go there because Katelyn Slade is worth more and he knows he can't be the one to give that to her.

Kolan and Katelyn Slade are brother and sister. They grew up in a horribly abusive household and Kolan and Nick spend a lot of time as teenagers trying to protect Kate. This is no easy task because at age seventeen Kate is a complete head turner. Nick himself calls her a bombshell.

Nick knows Kate is attracted to him. One night when Nick is "rescuing" Kate from a party she wasn't supposed to be at, he gives into temptation and gives Katelyn one night. Only one night because he knows he could never give her more. After that night Nick disappears. Leaving Kate with only a memory and a heart stone that says "you are more".

After their one night together Nick disappears and the two don't see each other for seven years. It's not until Kate calls Nick to help her after a huge scandal blows up with her brother Kolan, who's now a very successful boxer.

They've never gotten over that one night together and even though they've both been with other people their attraction is ignited the minute they see each other again. Nick and Kate's chemistry is so hot, I swear I needed a cold shower to cool off. Nick is naughty and perfect and so in love with Kate it's ridiculous.

That doesn't mean it's happily ever after for Nick and Kate. Remember he still deals with abandonment issues and Kate's dealing with the abuse she lived through as a child.

K.C. Lynn writes a story that had me on the edge of my seat. I love the storyline and I love the characters. And heaven help me I love Nick Stone. Of course K.C. brings the Men of Honor into the story and they are a force to be reckoned with.

If you haven't one clicked An Act of Salvation yet, what on earth are you waiting for? It was one of those books that I absolutely could not put down. I literally couldn't stop reading. It's a book that made me tear up, gave me that achy feeling in my heart and ultimately made me thankful that I have discovered K.C. Lynn. This is the second book of hers I have read and it's another five lip smack review!

Salvation ~ people find it in many different ways, but it has to begin within themselves in order to truly persevere because without saving themselves first, they won’t be able to save anyone else regardless of how hard they try.

When they were younger, Katelyn Slade, her brother, Kolan, and his best friend, Nick Stone were one another’s saving grace; they looked out for each other and provided safe haven amidst the torment done to them by others. Despite their bond, Nick’s inability to fully trust anyone but himself and his need to get away from his past separates them and breaks Katelyn’s heart a little bit more, making her feel likes she’s not enough despite Nick’s claim that she is MORE. But even after a number of years apart, Katelyn and Nick’s feelings for one another have remained and now that Katelyn needs Nick’s help in order to clear her brother’s name, will he finally trust her with his heart and give her the more she deserves, or will he save her brother only to destroy her once again?

Nick Stone is just as badass and broken as K.C. Lynn’s other alpha heroes, and when the risks are high and things seem out of control, Nick is definitely the guy I’d want in my corner because he gets the job done by any means necessary. But as much as he gives of himself in order to protect those around him, he refuses to get too attached because he’ll never give anyone the power to destroy him…too bad in closing himself off, he might just be destroying himself.

Lynn does a great job of illustrating Nick’s conflicted feelings for Katelyn; it’s made clear why he vows to never trust anyone again, and as frustrated as I got with him for sending mixed messages to Katelyn, I never doubted his love for her because she’s never been too far away from his thoughts and his heart despite the years they spent apart.

Katelyn is a strong heroine; her life hasn’t been easy, but with her brother’s help, she’s made a life for herself, and even though she’s never felt more alone without Nick in her life, she’s learned to be on her own and fight for the life she wants. She’s fiercely loyal to her brother and willing to put herself in dangerous situations in order to clear his name and despite how Nick’s behavior turns her inside and out, she knows what she wants and she’ll fight like hell to get it.

K.C. Lynn seriously knows how to craft a story filled with steam and suspense - one that both curls your toes and stalls your heart due to the explosive connection of the hero and heroine and the danger they find themselves in as they try to figure out how to stay safe and where they stand with one another as they do so.

Act of Salvation exudes the qualities that readers have come to expect from K.C. Lynn, which are suspenseful story lines, complex and damaged characters, and a sizzling chemistry between the hero and heroine that resonates off the pages.

Oh I hate giving this book a low rate because I really like this author, she's an amazing storyteller and she writes funny banter, which I love, so I'm sad to say I wanted to slap this heroine several times.

She's just too stupid to live. Man, she went through one million of dangerous situations because she didn't stop to think! Everyone mentioned constantly how sassy and smart-mouthed she is - and she is - but most of the times she was just being unreasonable and whiny. Geez, she got on my nerves so much when she wouldn't listen to what someone who is trained to survive dangerous circumstances would ask her to do. The last 30% was a bit predictable because I'd just know how she'd react to some situations.

I liked the hero, he was a decent guy and a loyal friend. Both the hero and the heroine have awful pasts and I felt sad for them. But no matter how much I empathized with her, I still believe she should work on her abilities to listen to reason so she doesn't get herself killed in the future.

Also, I understood they loved each other, but I felt like I was more told they loved each other. Seeing as this is a second chance romance, I wanted to see how and when they fell in love. All we get from the past is their first time together and the author let us know she has loved him for a long time and that he feels very attracted to her, and it's possible loves her too and that's it. Unfortunaly it was not a solid foundation for me to want them back together because they belonged together as one of the characters believes it to be the case. Finally, they spent almost all of the book running from danger, so when they finally got together and stayed together I wasn't quite convinced :( I don't know, it's dawn already so maybe I'll change my mind once I've slept properly lol

I hope this is one of those - it's not you it's me - cases and many people like it because I like how this author writes and I read super fast. It's also a safe book, so no ow/om business and it has a lot of funny moments ;)

I am curious about Kolan's story though and I LOVED seeing Ruthie again, I'm just waiting for her book :)

5 STARS!!

K.C. Lynn never fails to deliver a book that makes her readers feel. Whether it be pain or heartache, love or hate, terror or joy--the emotion that this author is able stir within her readers through her words is a rare and incredible experience. This is not my first K.C. Lynn novel, so I fully expected to be put through the wringer, and yet even I was surprised at the depth of emotion this book brought out in me. It's a simply breathtaking experience to get so lost in one of her stories that you lose track of time and your surroundings because you've become so deeply engrossed in it. This is why I read, this is the experience I seek, and I can always count on the incredibly talented K.C. Lynn to deliver that to me.

This book spans many years and examines some difficult topics, and as usual, the ever empathetic Ms. Lynn handles all of these subjects with grace and respect, while still managing the difficult task of keeping true to her characters and the plot. There is always an element of suspense in her stories, and An Act of Salvation definitely had plenty that. Still, in the midst of all of the action and the emotion, a beautiful, sexy yet heart-wrenching love story, many years in the making, is unfolding. I waited hopefully and nervously, like Katelyn, for Nick to realize what was right there in front of him.

Always well written, K.C. Lynn's words paint a beautifully detailed picture on the page. I adore this author's work, I adore the characters she's created and the love stories she writes. Simply, her fictional Charleston, SC is a place I adore visiting. An Act of Salvation was a phenomenal addition to this fabulous series. I absolutely loved it.

Guest Review by Tammy Cole

I was ecstatic to get this book as I have been curious about Nick Stone since reading about him in Beautifully Insightful. I loved Ryder and let me tell you Nick is just as HOT as Ryder. They both have the whole dirty mouth, alpha male personality down to perfection!

Nick and Katelyn grew up together as teenagers and shared one night together that neither one of them will forget. The passion and chemistry these two have together is off-the-charts HOT.

Nick and Katelyn reunite after 7 years to help search for Kolan, as he has found himself in a heap of trouble. These two are still attracted to each other and the time apart has not dimmed their desire at all. I loved how Nick was constantly assuring Katelyn that she is worth more than she believes. This story had a few situations in it that were a surprise to me, but the way KC handled them had me feeling all kinds of emotions.

I love KC Lynn and her writing style and this one did not disappoint. I am so happy to see that the next book in the series will be about Kolan. He is a mystery I am excited to learn more about!
