It all begins when Patrick is convinced he saw his wife with another man at a downtown bar. He begins to investigate. But the more Patrick uncovers about Jordan's activities, the less he understands. The biggest problem is, Patrick can't decide how he really feels. On the one hand, his wife seems to be betraying him, and on the other, his sex life has reached a scorching pinnacle he never thought possible. But he had better hold on to his hat, because when he finds out the truth, things will get much, much hotter than he might have ever imagined... READERS! The sequel to A Well-Laid Trap is available now. Look for it on Amazon!
Hmmm....where to start. I was ready to stop reading before I was halfway through. It felt as though I was reading a cheating novel and not a HW. I really did not like it. But, knowing that I have liked what Arnica Butler has previously written I kept going hoping/expecting a twist to come....sometime. Finally around 60% the conflict and twist. And the last 40% I enjoyed...enough that I'll read Part 2. What really hurt the book in my opinion was the twist took too long to get to. Found a number of typos/errors but not enough to hurt the reading of the book.
It took a bit to get into because it seemed like it was more of a cheating wife story. But the investment was worthwhile as the hot wife aspects made themselves clear a little more than halfway through the book. Looking forward to reading book 2 of the series and seeing how far it goes....
This is THE book. The hobby job was my first encounter with hot wife writing, but it was this book that cemented by obsession. I still go back to it sometimes, just to experience the agony and slow burn. The promise of sex and infidelity is so tantalising it makes your eyes water, and then when something does happen it is understated but as hot as erotic literature gets, in my very humble opinion. This is a triumph. I wish I'd written it! But there you go, it's great to read such fantastic work. Thank you Arnica for the gift of a new love.
Because this one is almost too hot to handle. Starting with a well-realized setting and jobs, tons of angst and suspicion on the husband's part, a super-sexy, funny, and appealing wife. One of the better stories I've read in this genre. Even fairly well (though far from immaculately) proof-read! I'm buying the sequel right freaking now!
This book was a little more benign than what I generally write myself, so I was a bit surprised at just how much I enjoyed it. There's something to be said about a writer leaving you in a constant state of tease, and Arnica Butler is a master at it.
The characters were fun and the scenes were spectacularly erotic. I admit that I'm pretty jealous at how well Arnica crafted this story and the phenomenal pacing that kept me turning pages, not to skip ahead, but because I had to savor every detail while desperate for just a little more from Jordan.
