On a quest to win back the wife who ran off with another man, blacksmith Enoch Brand embarks on a bloody and frightening adventure that takes him through the Ozark hills. By the author of The Canebrake Man. Original.
Cameron Judd (AKA: Tobias Cole) is a bestselling author of over forty historical and Western novels, including The Canebrake Men and Crockett of Tennessee. A former award-winning journalist, he continues to write his acclaimed column “Clips to Keep” and lives with his family in Greene County, Tennessee.
This book was a real letdown. I have enjoyed several of Cameron Judd's other novels, and I have never read anything like 'Confederate Gold,' in which he seems determined to make the reader detest his hero. He wasn't capable of saving anyone or anything except a wayward wife who deserved little in the way of saving. His lack of foresight or understanding of human behavior doomed his poor dog, and his hesitant nature resulted in unnecessary death, abductions and injury. Also, even his wife had a better understanding of the use of found gold than he did. Yuck.
