Cliff and Jessica Pedersen loved their children. Twins born on Halloween. They raised them to the best of their abilities; a typical loving family. Yet something went wrong. Despite the love showered upon them, something changed in the children as they got older and soon they weren't known as Cliff and Jessica's boys...
They were known as "The Butchers of Bellingham" and were responsible for numerous deaths; evil acts leaving their parents both devastated and trying to rebuild their own lives as the rest of the town glared at them.
'Look, there they go... The Butchers' parents...'
Is it possible to turn your back on your children even if they have committed terrible crimes? Can you un-love someone you once loved more than life itself? Is it really that easy to do so?
From Matt Shaw - author of Sick B*stards and Porn - comes a new psychological horror.
MATT SHAW was born, quite by accident (his mother tripped, he shot out) September 30th 1980 in Winchester hospital where he was immediately placed on the baby ward and EBay. Some twelve years later (wandering the corridors of the hospital and playing with road kill when he was on day release), the listing closed and he remained unsold, he was booted out of the hospital to start his life as a writer and hobbit – beginning with writing screenplays and short stories for his own amusement before finally getting published when he was twenty-seven years and forty-five seconds old.
Once Published weekly in a lad's magazine with his photography work, Matt Shaw is also a published author and cartoonist. Has to be said, can be a bit of a flirt and definitely, without a shadow of a doubt, somewhat of a klutz.
Favourite books "Roald Dahl's Collection of Short Stories" Tim Burton's Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy Anything, really, written by himself. Because he is that good.
Despite the roots is a very well written story from the perspective of the adults- when their children become killers - "the butchers". The story follows them as they deal with processing this news of what their children have done, what their kids are capable of while still on the loose and being tracked down by authorities, and while the rest of the world judges them as the terrible people/parents responsible for all of these horrific murders by raising "the butchers". This is definitely a frightening concept, and a great book.
I enjoyed the premise of this book very much, as usual. However it felt like it was rushed through the editing process. Too many odd breaks in the paragraphs threatened the fluidity of the story. I'm not trying to criticize, just a friendly pointer.
Two parents who love each other and their twin boys. Two parents about to have their lives turned upside down. Betrayal, violence, lies and murder. I really wanted to know more about their childhood. Dear old mom's decisions didn't help dad...recommend to fans of modern horror!
This is Matt Shaw, most of his books are to gruesome for me but this was one that was disturbing and chilling. If you like to be Scared and shocked this is the right Author. kozettekaysmith
I do usually really like books by Matt Shaw but this one.. It just didn't do it for me.. the editing errors were just VERY distracting I could hardly get through the book. I will continue to search out books by this author but hopefully the next one will be better.
A story line that will pull you in immediately and kept suspense going until the end where it's abruptly finished. In short, great plot with an unsatisfying ending
A tale told from the view of the parents of serial killers. Well written and brutal. You can feel the stress and emotion of the parents Cliff and Jessica. Their twin boys Cody and Chase are on the run after a series of brutal murders. It's a point of view people rarely think of and it is well done.
