Frommers are the best overall guide to plan a trip. Other guides do a better job with illustrations and photos (none in Frommers), but the detail on hotels, etc. is a good starting point. This guide to Tokyo had three well-done walking tours in neighborhoods - wish there were more. A good portion of the book is online at Frommers.com.
