Five of mystic/metaphysician Neville's major works together in a single volume; Prayer - The Art of Believing: The conditions on which prayer is answered. Feeling Is the Secret: "All you can possibly need or desire is already yours." Neville tells how this is so. Freedom for All: The Bible's buried truths reveal ways to change consciousness. Out of This World: Lays the foundation for changing the future - a "controlled waking dream." Resurrection: Biblical citations and commentary - a confession of faith in terms of experience.
Neville Goddard was a writer, speaker and mystic. He taught various self-help methods for testing his own claim that the human imagination is omnificent, therefore God. He achieved popularity by reinterpreting the Bible and the poetry of William Blake.
ah, where do i begin? i have stumbled across many books on this topic, yet this one resonated with me the most. it's the type of book that will be read multiple times for its teachings are easy to follow and instantly make you feel light and in love with life again. i don't really know what else to say other than this: anyone who can read should read this book!
"This story and all the other stories of the Bible are psychological plays dramatized within the consciousness of man. You are the high priest; you are the leper; you are the birds. Your consciousness or I AM is the high priest; you, the man with the problem, are the leper. The problem, your present concept of yourself, is the bird that is killed; the solution of the problem, what you desire to be, is the living bird that is freed. You re-enact this great drama within yourself by turning your attention away from your problem and placing it upon that which you desire to express. You impress upon yourself the fact that you are that which you desire to be until your mind is stilled in the belief that it is so. Living in this fixed attitude of mind, living in the consciousness that you are now that which you formerly desired to be, is the bird in flight, unfettered by the limitations of the past and moving toward the embodiment of your desire. "
This is my absolute favorite book of all time. I have read it multiple times and will read it again and again. I have recommended this to anyone who asks for a recommendations on good spiritual books. Nothing gets me centered in myself and at peace with all things like this book.
I first learned of Neville Goddard from the writings of Mitch Horowitz, an historian of America's occult. He is a big fan of Neville (who taught and wrote using only his first name) and this book was the catalyst that brought Horowitz into Neville's orbit.
Neville (who died in 1972) was a New Thought mystic who was quite popular during his lifetime. He fell out of favor until the advent of the Internet and YouTube, where his taped lectures have been posted (like Mystery Science Theater 3000's "Keep Circulating the Tapes!" motto, Neville allowed people to tape his lectures for free and now his talks are popping up everywhere, giving Neville's ideas a new lease). New Thought developed during the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the US and Neville is among the last of these philosophers. That movement has now evolved into the Law of Attraction (LOA) best personified by The Secret, that was very popular in the early Aughts.
Apparently Neville's ideas and philosophy has revived (I was familiar with New Thought but Neville had gotten by me). The first thing to be aware of in his work is that it is grounded in an unorthodox view of Scripture. Biblical quotes are liberally sprinkled throughout his writing, and his main point is that the human imagination is God - literally - and our thoughts create our world.
I'm surprised at the traction he has in today's world, as I wouldn't think his work would have much appeal to non-Christians, and his view of the Bible would be unacceptable to evangelical Christians and conservative Catholics. But he's out there, people are into him, and I think his ideas are certainly worth exploring.
This book is a collection of pamphlets that Neville wrote and serve as an excellent introduction to his thinking. I would encourage all those interested in broadening their own thinking to give Neville a try.
I have found this little book to pull together years of spiritual learnings. It succinctly orders what is and what can happen with proper application. I now have a firm grasp on prayer, healing, abundance and so much more. I am grateful for Mitch Horowitz sharing his love for this Goddard book as it is so concise and maybe one of the most concise of his teachings.
"If you don't control your imagination- your imagination will control you."
Neville's Resurrection is a new way of thoughts with the premise of prayer in order to achieve what we wanted .What you pray for, you will receive as long as you pray with clarity and serene thoughts. Prayer affects our subconsciousnesss and changes our assumption of the our current consciousness.
This will be transmitted to others as it follows the law of mind. Feeling is the secret of creation. Feel as if you already had it and it will definitely happens.
This is where Creative Visualization and other books based on the genius of certain "occult" authors from 1850-1930's informed by a world who's art, architecture and insight - is lost to us by 'post-modernism".
Filled with Scriptures to indicate to the reader that one must die in the "flesh" (limitations) to be born again in Christ, where they are identified as one with Jesus, and even more so, God. There is power when one identifies with Jesus, there is a much better life waiting for the one who must die to live in union with Jesus. Any and everything one can want awaits.
Did not enjoy this book as I did with his others. All references are referring to the bible. I gave two stars due to it been short so I still read and enjoyed a couple of the quotes.
This wasn't what I expect or was looking for, however it was very eye opening and educational. It allowed me to understand a few concepts or ideas that I have been studying and pondering for years. The final chapter, 26, lost me. That's okay. Still much more to learn.
Only 120 pages and powerfully describes how to create the reality you want. The language used is around prayer and christianity and the message is far greater than the dogma. Powerful and transformative book.
This is a great book for someone who is having trouble interpreting the meaning of scripture. When reading scripture we can get so literal that we miss the point of what the story is trying to convey. I will recommend this book to any and everyone. Excellent read for sure!
Maybe I’m just not there yet intellectually or spiritually, but I found this book uninspiring and a little strange/confusing. I would stick with other amazing books by Neville, for example “Feeling Is the Secret”.
I love all of Neville's work. This is his last and a compilation of all that he discovered throughout his lifetime. Certainly one of my favorites from Neville
