I am not the best person to judge erotica. I don't read a lot of it. I don't feel like I can ever take it very seriously. Erotica is often stereotyped and mocked, making it hard to take seriously. It is often cheesy, but I love the campiness about it. I don't know why a book about sex should be serious or the best writing on earth. It has one mission - to be hot - and that's it. So, I generally love bad erotica, if only for humor's sake. So, whether the book is hot or not- it always tends to be entertaining.

I felt the writing in this collection was pretty even across the board. Authors struggled for language (crotch for vagina, really? Bead and bud for clitoris?) for the erogenous zones. Some authors used really over the top, unrealistic dialogue. All in good campy fun.

This collection contains a range of stories. The back claims that the action ranges from "naughty and nasty to tender and sweet." This was somewhat misrepresentative. Most of the sex in this collection is of the one night stand variety, and most of it is very "naughty and nasty." This book did not try to be feminine and delicate - if you like it rough they definitely go there! If you don't mind this distinction, this was a good collection. I felt it represented a lot of fantasy scenarios and sexual acts. I felt all sexual acts were covered at least once.

I felt like a lot of queer life tropes/experiences were represented well. I found myself and my friends represented in these pages. This book isn't just about women having sex with other women, it's about women exploring their sexualities, and the different types of lesbians out there.

I didn't like how most of the sex was of the one night stand variety, which surprised me. But, these stories are short and sweet and often have negative endings - a relationship doesn't pan out, it's revealed one party is in a hidden relationship, etc. Call me romantic, I guess, but I want my 3 to 5 page fisting lesbian story to end in love.

All in all, I felt this was a good compilation. A little bit of camp, a little bit of sex appeal. What more could a girl ask for from erotica?

Some of the stories in here are pretty hot, but some just fall flat- for example, the word "crotch" is not sexy no matter how you attempt to use it. There were a few other word sin there that annoyed me like "crotch" but I can;t think of them right now.

My other complaint is most of these stories are literally 5 pages long, so there's no build-up, no expectation- just boom! Sex! A little more length and build-up could have really made these a lot more enjoyable in my opinion.

not the best collection of erotica i've read by a long shot. most of the stories are poorly written, even if they do deliver the sex promised. they're very amateur-level stories, with no consideration for narrative flow, or dialogue or any of the other things needed to make an erotica piece a WELL-WRITTEN erotica piece.
if sex is what you're looking for, this is okay. otherwise, move on to another collection.

This is quality writing. I'm comparing it to something such as Penthouse letters, which is all I've ever read before.

My anarchic, ironic smile is quirking about my lips though, as I muse "Why is Penthouse letters "pornography" and books such as this are "erotica"?"
