A nice historical read for the genre. A lot of references to other anglers and writing, so not altogether groundbreaking or novel. While his tactics and ideas are valid and interesting to read, this would not go down as a book that changes how you approach the vice or the water. A good introduction to the topic and a book that makes you want to read more Nemes, Leisenring, Lafontaine, etc.

Hughes provides good descriptions on how to tie wet flies and their usage/applications. Wish the photos for tying instructions were color though.

Really like this book. Well written with good illustrations. Explains lots of different wet flies, how to tie them, and how & when to fish them. Great reference book.
