I love beach related contemporary romance, and I'm even dabbling in writing one myself, I couldn't wait to jump into this series. I was attached very quickly as this series revolves around a single mother, and her three daughters. They inherited this beach side inn that rents out little cabins for tourists in the Keys of Southern Florida. All the sisters were easy to relate to, especially Kayla. She is very grounded in what she wants out of life, so once Shawn came to the inn and rented a cabin long term, and in cash - she couldn't help the feelings that started to flood her heart, and the thoughts flooding her mind.

Brittany and Taylor are younger, less grounded and more fun. They were so funny to listen to, as their concerns weren't about the inn and their life stability and business, it was more about men and clubbing. I hope the other books show more growth for them!

Shawn is a doctor who has suffered a tragic loss, and he shipped off on his boat from Boston, named Sara, and never looked back. He's never been good at expressing himself and he wasn't looking for love, that's the bottom line. Until he laid eyes on Kayla. The story shows their connection and how they find love with each other, even when they really weren't looking for it.

There are a lot of other interesting elements involved in this story, immigrants from Cuba, babies being born, and surgery in Boston. It was a roller coaster of life, and a perfect storm of drama.

About the narrator, she was fabulous! Some of her voices were kind of hokey and made me chuckle, but she did a very good job. Her voice was very clear, and so was the production value. There were a few times it as hard to determine dialogue from prose, but I figured it out, and understood what was going on, so that was the most important thing. It also didn't happen very often, so it didn't frustrate me very much. Her voice is so smooth and I really enjoyed her fake southern accent the best - when Shawn and Kayla were pretending to be characters from Gone with the Wind. It was funny, and this narrator did a great job!

Mediocre . I found it interesting enough to read through. And it had a many enjoyable moments . However was let down by the tempo of the story just being all over the place and found the characters just a bit plain. And too goody too shoes

The book had rave reviews, so guess it is just me... I didn't feel the love. While I finished this book, I decided to skip the rest of the series.

A passion filled feel-good romance!

Paradise Cove tells the story of Sean, a gifted surgeon that lost his young daughter to leukemia. Losing something so precious to him affected him so much that his marriage dissolved and he felt that he wasn’t worthy of love and happiness. Sean hid away for months before setting up at a small family owned cottages. Sean was not prepared for Kayla, one of the sister’s that ran the cottage, to break down his defenses and start to heal his broken heart. Kayla was struck by the intense feelings that she developed for Sean however she wasn’t about to let Sean stop living his life when he had so much to live for.

Paradise Cove was a passion-filled story that will leave you wanting to read more. This story captured my attention from the very beginning. Patrice Wilton did a really good job of pulling at your emotions. There are places you will laugh and want to cry. It gives you all the ooohs and aahhs that you like in a good romance. This was a very thought provoking story with lots to learn from all the characters. This was a delightful read that I enjoyed immensely.

Cynthia Vail did a great job with the narration. She had a clear and crisp voice that was easy to follow. She did a great job with the voice inflections and the different accents. She really helped bring the story to life instead of sounding as if she was just reading a story.

This is the first book that I have read by Patrice Wilton and won’t be my last. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series so that I can find out what happens to the rest of the Holmes family. I recommend Paradise Cove to anyone that enjoys passionate and emotional romance.

I thought this was a well written story for the first book in this series. I loved Kayla and Sean's story which was full of so much pain and lose. Sean has lost his whole family as he pulls into his self not letting anyone in. Kayla has been where Sean is now and does her best to pull him out of his shell. It is really a conflict of wanting to help and running away. Sean does open up but still is unwilling to give of his self.

I thought Ms. Vail did a good job she put emotions into the listen. I didn’t care for some of her voices but for the most part they were good. At times she sounds robotic more so in one character voice than the others. There was only one place where I am sure she took a break the volume went from low to higher. If she took any other breaks I could not tell. There were no background noise and really was a nice listen.

This does have a good plot with a story inside a story however part of the plot is a very touchy subject for a lot of Americans. I did like the characters I understood it must be kind of boring there with not much to do so I could relate to the sister. It does make a wonderful get away to hide in why you face your problems and getting over your pain. I thought Kayla forgive Sean a little too easy 6 months is a long time. The author gave a very touching read with a very vivid picture of what paradise look like that I so wanted to go join them. I am looking forward to seeing what the rest of this series has in store for us.

Kayla and Sean's story is a great start to a new series by Patrice Wilton. Three sisters decide to help their mother run the guest cottages their step father bequeathed them just before his death. They all move from their respective lives ad come to Paradise Cove. The resort has a good location, but is badly in need of restoration and the sisters have decided that they are going to get the needful done. This book has the story of how the eldest, Kayla, finds her prince charming.

Dr Sean Flannigan has decided that he has nothing more to live for when he is unable to save his daughter from leukaemia. His wife in her grief blames him for not being able to cure her and they get a divorce. Sean isn’t operating at full throttle in the operation theatre and decides to take a break. This means sailing on his boat and out of his old life, maybe even to end his life.

What Sean hasn’t counted on is meeting Kayla. Her compassion may just be what he needed to get over his own depression. Beautiful beginning to another romantic series by Patrice Wilton. I received this book as a gift from the author for an honest opinion. It’s a lovely romantic read with a lot of very real life situations that crop up in the girls family.

"Paradise Cove" by Patrice Wilton is book one in the "Paradise" series. I just had to read this book again. It was great! You will love Patrice Wilton's style of writing. She gets your attention from the start and keeps it through out the story. I love how she incorporates a steamy romance with so much depth to the story. You will fall in love with all the characters.

Book one is cardiac surgeon Sean Flannigan and Kayla Holmes' story. Kayla is helping her mom and sisters run a seaside resort, Paradise Cove Cottages, in the Florida Keys. When fate lands Sean at the Paradise Cove Cottages Kayla can tell that Sean is hurting or hiding something. Kayla recognizes the pain in his eyes that she experienced when her dad died. Sean has lost his daughter to a rare form of leukemia. He just wants to be left alone. Things don't always go according to plans. This is a fun ride with so many wonderful things that happen. I was gifted a copy for an honest review.

The next book in this series is out titled "Hooked on You" and this is Kayla's sister Taylor's story. I can't wait to read her story.

Paradise Cove is by Patrice Wilton. It is book one of a series. It takes place in Key West, Florida.
Kayla, Brittany, and Taylor Holmes gave up their lives to help their Mother get Paradise Cove running. Their Mother had been left the resort when their step-father died. It was the only thing he left her so it was up to them to get it going. Kayla was the business person. She did most of the work getting the resort in shape and cleaning the cabins. Taylor was the chef. She kept the few meals going and made great snacks for their Happy Hour. Brittany really wanted only to dance but didn’t have the build to be a dancer and didn’t want to teach dance. She was into the night life and was really bored being here. She hit on the cute guys who came to the cabins.
Sean Hannegan paid for three months for his cabin and mooring for his boat. He wanted to be left alone. He wasn’t very sociable. Kayla feels he is depressed and hurting and wants to help him even if he doesn’t want help. He pushes Kayla away even as he is drawn to her.
What is he hiding? Is he worth the trouble to even help?

Kayla is up to her eyes in responsibility. After troubled teenage years due to the loss of her father in 9/11, she straightened out and was doing well. Then sadly her stepfather passes and she and her 2 sisters have inherited Paradise Cove. It's a lovely collection of cabins at the beginning of the Florida Keys. It's seen better days but the bones of the resort are there, it just needs some TLC.

Sean is running from the loss of his daughter to Leukaemia. He turns up at the resort and thinks he's found a haven of solitude. Little does he know that Happy Hour is enforced here and he'd better get used to the daily cocktails!!!

The story unfolds at a great pace and the emotions and problems of Kayla and Sean are really explored well. I loved the little side stories, which all fed into the main love story. There are most definitely layers in this book!!. The characters are amazingly realistic and you can feel their pain. I was a bit annoyed with Brit's antics but I'm hoping I'll lover her more as the series unfolds!

~~~~~~~~~~Tracy's ★★★★★ Review~~~~~~~~~~
What did you love best about Paradise Cove?
For me it was the story and the characters. The author made me love who I was hearing about. It was a sweet romance that doesn't have a lot of gratuitous sex in it. The chemistry between the two main characters was evident from the beginning.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The performance was okay. I felt the narrator lacked some emotion and the words just blended together at times. She did do a good job with the Australian accent for Sean.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, and I did listen to it in one sitting. It was not a boring book and it kept you guessing.
Any additional comments?
I would recommend this book but not in audio. The narration took away from the story and I would have enjoyed it more just reading it myself. I will continue on with this series because I do like this author and the way she tells the story.
Kayla Holmes has had one let down after another in her life. After being giving a new chance to make life better for herself and her family she finds that her past may be the gift needed to pull another soul out of the darkness and despair of life. Sean has suffered a devastating loss and has found life not particularly happy to endure. He seeks solace in his boat and sailing. That was until he came across a small beach community. Here was hoping to find a better meal and more peace. But the happy vibrant beauties of Paradise Cove have a way of making things look better than they are. Until he finds that one beauty had drawn him in.
Narrator Review of . . . Paradise Cover (Paradise Cove, #1) . . . Cynthia Vail has lent her voice to a sweet romance and second chance at living a full, free, complete life for both Kayla and Sean. Her voice gives character to the characters and allows for the sweetness of the romance to be seen with vivid clarity. The audio was smooth and hiccup free.
Three sisters, Kayla, Taylor and Brittany Holmes
inherited Paradise Cove Cottages in the Key. Along
with their mother, they are determined to spruce
up the cottages and make their little piece of
paradise a success.
Dr Sean Flannigan, a famous cardiac surgeon lost
his young daughter to leukemia. He has been sailing
about aimlessly. Now he is staying in one of the
cottages.
Cuban refugees find themselves afloat on driftwood
after their boat capsized.
How do all these characters interact?? Read this
written story to find out.
The book is intriguing with relatable characters that
are hiding past hurts, fear to love again plus those
looking for freedom to live again.
This is book # 1 in the Paradise Cove series. It centers
on the oldest daughter, Kayla. It can be read as a
stand alone.
I volunteered to read this eBook. Thanks for the author
for the opportunity. My opinion is my own.
Dr. Sean Flanagan, a brilliant cardiac surgeon, takes a leave of absence. The divorce from his wife spurred by the death of his young daughter due to leukemia. He lived on his boat for a while and took a 3 month lease at Paradise Cove where he just wanted solitude. Kayla Holmes, her mother and two sisters had a way of drawing a person out and pulling them in to their warmth. His shell cracked a bit further when he rescued a family at sea escaping from Cuba. He cannot deny the attraction he has for Kayla. As he helps the rescued family get on their feet and helps Kayla with the much needed renovations at Paradise Cove he starts to feel he has more to offer but he is so unsure of his skills as a surgeon until he is called back to Boston and has to be put to the test. The separation also tests his feelings for Kayla and gives him answers as to where his future lies
A healing heart
This is a wonderful, heartwarming story of life's tragedies.
After losing his daughter to leukemia, Sean, a cardiologist, has lets his broken heart overtake his life.
Now, after sailing down the eastern U. S. coast, Sean finds himself at a vacation site in the Florida Keys, run by widowed Anne and her three daughters, Kayla, Taylor and Brittany.
I laughed and cried at everything that keeps this family whole. Intertwined with a family that is rescued from certain death on a capsized boat, their compassion for this family. And how one of Anne's daughters shows Sean how to heal his broken heart.
I fell in love with everyone. You will too.
Read "Paradise Cove" and add this delightful story to one of your afternoon reads.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and voluntarily chose to review it.
It’s almost the usual romance novel. There are lots of adjectives to set up the story. We know in the first page that Kayla Holmes, her mother and two sisters are running a rental bungalow colony in Florida. We know that Kayla and her sisters are unmarried and that their mother is determined to settle them down with husbands. The sexy new man who moves in to the most expensive bungalow catches Kayla’s eye. Both Kayla and the mystery man have known heartbreak. Fortunately, he is a noted heart surgeon and Kayla’s family are all decent people.
Since there are two sisters involved, we know that this is part of a trilogy. Not a bad read. It's easy and light if you’re looking for that sort of thing.
This is the first book of the Paradise Series, a new series by Patrice Wilton. I enjoyed the story very much. The characters were real and had depth and the story had lots of layers. There were a lot of emotional aspects in the story and I think that is what make this a really great book. However, I was a tad disappointed coz the start of this series seems to be a little different from the usual way Patrice writes. Patrice usually has lots of humor in her stories and she has some really wacky characters. Guess I have grown to love her wacky characters so I really missed them in this series. Nevertheless, it is a great book and I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.
This is a great start to a new series! I loved the characters and the location is wonderful! The Florida Keys is a great place for steamy romances. Three sisters and their mother inherit a small group of vacation cottages and decide to move down from the North and give innkeeping a try. The women are all feisty, very nice and beautiful. Lots of chances for romance with all of their guests and this first one between Kayla & Dr. Sean is HOT! Can't wait for the next one!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A tale of strength, pain, and healing
I'm kinda at a loss for words here..... It was beautiful I cried as I read parts, cheered the ending, and am now craving more. It reminded me how strong we all are but that sometime you need a little help. Follow three sisters and their mom as they run guest cottages in paradise, this book is about the oldest and her journey to help heal a man she falls in love with.
Great book
Sometimes you need to escape real life and read a book that is just fun. I enjoyed the sisters so much and it reminded me of me and my 2 sisters. Our dad died in an accident when we were all in our teens, Mom remarried, etc. We were the fearless hard working 3 girls and of course lived in FL. How ironic. Whether you have sisters, brothers, or no siblings, it's a fun book all around. There are some racy parts but I liked it just the same.
I LOVED this book! Dr. Sean is such a haunted soul. Kayla just wants to free his soul from the torture he is putting it through. I love the interaction of the three sisters and their mother. The story of the 4 of them fixing up and running the resort in honor of their late step-dad/husband is very heartwarming.
Oh my gosh, I couldn't even finish this book. ALL of the women were so unbelievably irritating! Sean just wanted to be left alone. Kayla decides, "she would see him through whatever dark time he was in." It was SO not her place! The other sisters are constantly flirting, the mom is forcing him to come to happy hour. Sheesh, I just couldn't stand it!
Interesting start to a romance
This was an interesting start to a wonderful story of a man finding his way out of a severe depression from the loss of his daughter. The romance takes both characters by surprise when they are least expecting it. The characters are likable and the secondary characters are wonderful too. Well worth reading.
Inviting
I really enjoyed the story but what really got me was the description of the location. At times I felt like I was at Paradise Cove myself surrounded by the tropical breezes, ocean waves and silky sand. Would recommend as a great book for a beach getaway in land or mind.
