Gisele Bündchen

Born in the Brazilian countryside, and nearly six feet tall by the age of 14, Gisele Bündchen grew from humble roots into the most successful supermodel in the world. This book celebrates her 20-year milestone in the industry with a unique and spectacular collection of jaw-dropping glamour and intimate, personal insights.

Gisele was just 18 when she made her breakthrough in the S/S 1998 ready-to-wear "Rain" show of Alexander McQueen, who chose "The Body" thanks to her ability to walk in towering heels on a slippery runway. The same year, Gisele secured her first British Vogue cover, and swiftly became the most in-demand cover girl of her generation. The following year, she was chosen for the cover of American Vogue, shot by Steven Meisel, and lauded as "the return of the sexy model" with her bronzed, athletic beauty defying late-'90s grunge. Since then, Gisele has appeared on more than 1,000 covers around the globe, in approximately 450 fashion shows, and in multinational campaigns for the biggest fashion and beauty brands.

With more than 300 photographs, this book is curated and art directed by Giovanni Bianco. From Gisele's legendary nude portrait by Irving Penn, chosen as the book's cover, to iconic shots from such industry luminaries as Steven Meisel, Mario Testino, Peter Lindbergh, David LaChapelle, Juergen Teller, Inez & Vinoodh, Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, and Corinne Day, it is a unique artistic presentation of the most famous Brazilian export together with Pelé and Senna and the highest-earning model in the world. The breathtaking image collection is accompanied by an introduction by Steven Meisel and tributes from Gisele's closest friends, family, and fashion leaders, who shed light on how and why she has become one of the greatest models of all time.

'Taschen is an art book publisher founded in 1980 by Benedikt Taschen in Cologne, Germany. It began as Taschen Comics publishing Benedikt's extensive comic collection. Taschen has been a noteworthy force in making lesser-seen art available to mainstream bookstores, including some fetishistic imagery, queer art, historical erotica, pornography and adult magazines (including multiple books with Playboy magazine). Taschen has helped bring this art into broader public view, by publishing these potentially controversial volumes alongside its more mainstream books of comics reprints, art photography, painting, design, fashion, advertising history, film, and architecture.' - Wikipedia

Gisele Bündchen: The Photo Book is pure eye candy. Each page is like a secret invitation into the world of one of the hottest women on the planet. Gisele doesn’t just pose; she captivates. The way she moves through each shot makes you feel like you’re witnessing something almost intimate.

From sun-drenched beaches to chic cityscapes, every photo oozes effortless glamour. It’s not just about looks; it’s that magnetic energy she brings that pulls you in and keeps you wanting more. You can almost feel the warmth radiating off the pages.

This isn’t your run-of-the-mill coffee table book; it’s a visual feast that sparks a little desire and makes you appreciate beauty in all its forms. Perfect for those moments when you just want to indulge in some serious eye candy and lose yourself in the allure of Gisele.

She has some really good ideas re life n family, altho it comes off as a bit braggy and preachy. Interesting youth and past in Brazil.

I admire a lot about her, eg, her charitable donations, her close relationship with Tom Brady's son Jack from his ex-gf, which seems incredibly forgiving and kind of her!

Some of her comments re her and Tom's relationship seem sad, since they got divorced after this book was written --altho IMO it's amazing that she could stand him for the 13 years of their marriage.

Audio overdrive @ 1.05 speed, increased to 1.20 to finish it up.

It's a Taschen book so you cannot really "read" it, but I did want to comment what a brilliant collection of Gisele photographs this is and how wonderfully curated and designed the books is. It will look amazing on my bookcase and the quotes of various designers, photographers and Gisele's family at the end were a fantastic addition.
