When the more honorable action requires a little treason...
Homeland security agent Kelsey Johnson never wanted the assignment, especially when it involves coercing Garrett Matthews, a man she despises. But instead of delivering Agent Matthews his new orders, Kelsey finds herself on the run and caught in the same mess Garrett was ordered to retreat from.
With their lives at stake, Garrett and Kelsey are now considered the enemies, and are being hunted by everyone, including their own department.
With their friends, Rachel and Dawson, their only help, Kelsey and Garrett must evade those intent on killing them and locate the evidence to clear their names before their powerful enemy catches up with them. Unsure of even the existence of such redeeming evidence, they may be forced to seek help fro the very enemy who started it all.
Unfortunately, there is a reason Kelsey has never been a field agent--a well-guarded secret that puts both her and Garrett's lives at risk. Though she knows she can't be trusted, she also can't bring herself to confide in Garrett, wanting to believe that the ghosts of her past won't haunt her.
But in the end, with her life a trigger's breath from being over, and a secret that could change the entire country on the line, will her own secret cost her everything?
This is the 4th suspense book I've read by Amanda Tru. Each one starts out with action and never lets up the entire book. She does a good job of letting her characters fall into danger/trouble and when you think it can't get worse, it does. That's the one characteristic that keeps you turning the pages until the end. I appreciate that her hero and heroine don't fall into love in the first few chapters. They have the proper amount of friction throughout the story. The reason I gave it a four instead of a five is because some of the dangerous situations of the characters are unbelievable just like the Bond movies. However, if like suspense and action, you'll enjoy this read.
This is the 4th and final book in the Try Exceptions series. This ties up loose ends that you didn't even realize were missing from the previous books. It is fast paced and page turning. Another clean story with a bit of romance. Don't miss it!
When Amanda sent word to her email subscribers that her new book was done, she warned that it was intense and we might not want to begin it before bed. So, as soon as the kids were asleep I naturally started reading. It was Friday, after all. :)
True to her word, Amanda created another fast-paced and action-packed book that was just long enough to feel very complete but allow me a binge-read that I can recover from. I finished at 1:30am. Nothing a little coffee can't handle.
This is an inspirational, suspenseful romance. It follows up with characters introduced in her Baggage Claim series. Knowing the genre, the back story, and having read six of her other novels made this a fairly predictable story, but that didn't keep me from enjoying it. Amanda's books are a guilty pleasure that I'm not too ashamed to indulge in.
Fans of the rest of the Baggage Claim series will love how this book wraps everything up. It could be read as a stand-alone story, but be aware that there's more violence than you may be used to reading in inspirational books (unless you primarily read suspense), and lots of references to previous books. I think she does a good job of explaining the references, though. It has been a year since I read the first three and I didn't feel any frustration over the plot elements I had forgotten.
Rogue by Amanda Tru. I cannot explain how much I love the stories by Amanda. This inspirational romantic suspense series has captured me with the characters and the plot twists. Amanda is a go-to author for me. I have to plan to read her books on the weekend though because I know I will not want to put it down. I hope she will continue the series.
You can read Rogue as a standalone novel but I strongly recommend that you start from the beginning with Baggage Claim. Rachel and Dawson started the series and were the main characters in the first three novels. We meet Kelsey and Garrett in the series and Rogue is their story. Rachel and Dawson play an active role too. The opening scene grabbed my attention which was not surprising; Amanda has a track record of doing that. Kelsey is a Homeland Security agent sent to bring in Garrett, a fellow agent. Instead of bringing him in she ends up on the run with him. Only two people know why Kelsey is not a field agent. I loved the friendship between Kelsey and Rachel and their code. You can see my full review at More Than a Review dot com where I rate the level of sex, violence, language and drug/alcohol use in books.
I have been loving getting to know Tru's writing style and her ability to create complex characters with plot twist and turns around every corner. Each book that I've read so far has been exciting and hard to put down. I loved this one as well, because of the story of redemption running through it. The characters have much to get past, and the theme of God's redemption is so clear and encouraging when portrayed in the midst of some very real pain that each character goes through. After following Rachel and Dawson's story for three books, this fourth book shows the continuation of their story while focusing on their friends and fellow agents, Kelsey and Garrett. It was really great to see how Tru developed their characters and stories. I can't wait to read more from her!
The Tru exception series is probably my favorite series EVER. The first one in the set "Baggage Claim" is my all time favorite book. I have been waiting for this one to come out for over a year and it was worth the wait. It is action packed and full of suspense. I loved getting to know more about Kelsey's story. She and Garrett have the typical love/hate relationship and when they are forced to work together, as their lives depend on it, it makes an awesome story! This one will have you on the Edge of your seat the whole time so make sure you set aside a whole day to read it. I couldn't put it down. Amanda's books are the best and one of these days she will be discovered and they going to be made into movies! They. Are. That. Good! As always Amanda awesome, awesome book! Loved it!

I loved this continued story which now focuses on Kelsey and Garrett. We learn so much about Kelsey and how her past affects her now. Still full of the action packed suspense like the other 3 books. Amanda Tru always does a wonderful job of describing action parts in the book so you can follow what is happening. Highly recommend you read the first 3 books in order before reading this one. Excellent book which I thoroughly enjoyed like I do all her books. One of my favorite authors whose books are always hard to put down!
I was hooked from the beginning with the first book. It started out exciting and it only got better book after book. This series is one of my favorites. There was nothing in these books I didn't like. They were exciting and mesmerizing. I recommend this series highly.
I could not remember the plots or characters from books 1-3 (I did read all of them!), but it really didn't seem to matter. One thing about Ms. Tru's writing is that she keeps things lively in her stories. This was a fun read and I enjoyed both the romance and the action/suspense. This is a great series and I can heartily recommend it!
This story held much more excitement and plot! The characters fought the attraction, but not the entire time. Kelsey and Garrett's story is a fun and exciting adventure!
