Amber Kell has made a career out of daydreaming. It has been a lifelong habit she practices diligently as shown by her complete lack of focus on anything not related to her fantasy world building.

When she told her husband what she wanted to do with her life he told her to go have fun.

During those seconds she isn't writing she remembers she has children who humor her with games of 'what if' and let her drag them to foreign lands to gather inspiration. Her youngest confided in her that he wants to write because he longs for a website and an author name—two things apparently necessary to be a proper writer.

Despite her husband's insistence she doesn't drink enough to be a true literary genius she continues to spin stories of people falling happily in love and staying that way.

She is thwarted during the day by a traffic jam of cats on the stairway and a puppy who insists on walks, but she bravely perseveres..

She also writes under the name Mikela Q. Chase

Leaning a little more towards 2.5. I have been looking forward to Saint's story and am both happy and disappointed. I liked Saint's character until he starts opening his mouth about taking back the throne from Vohne. Every time this subject came up my liking of Saint took a dive. Vohne does everything with the good of his people in mind. Saint just wants what is "his". It's not about him thinking he is a better ruler, it comes across much more like a child who has had a toy taken away. Even if they don't really care about the toy, no one else can have it. Maybe that was a failing on the part of the author to express clearly or maybe it is a failing of mine for interpreting it that way. But I was really kind of bummed by the ending. The last few pages suddenly Saint and Vohne are talking about working together for a year and then Saint takes over and Vohne and Kres fly the skies. No no no. I just wasn't satisfied at all with the way it was written. Part of what makes Saint so compelling is the fact that he is just a little on the not-quite-right side and while he isn't a bad guy, in general he tends to lack empathy and compassion. Not really ideal ruler material. He would be much better suited to more action-oriented and/or clandestine-type ventures. Vohne on the other hand was all about taking care of his people and doing what was best and he just worked well as the king, what the heck are he and Kres going to do flying around? (I know, is supposed to be what Kres wanted but if that is so it should have figured a little more into the story, in my opinion.) It made no sense to me, it was like she was putting each couple in the other couple's place. Urgh. *grumbles and whines some more*

Also, with the exception of the female Thresl in book one and the nurse in book 5, why were all the females in this series evil? And insane.

Ah! And if Saint is still alive and his brother is still alive doesn't that mean that someone else of the same age could still be alive, so why is it that no one knows of Saint, is it just convenience that everyone else that would have remembered him is dead so his brother was able to write him out of history? Maybe I missed something somewhere. Wouldn't be the first time. *sigh*

But yeah, before that and in all the previous books I adored Saint and this one started off so well. *stomps off to pout in a corner*

The sixth 'Thresl Chronicles' book finally brings the story I have been waiting for since this very special super-Thresl first appeared. Saint is certainly a Thresl who has suffered a lot, locked away in isolation for centuries, and now that he is free, and on the prowl for his mate, he takes no prisoners. His destined mate, reincarnated since he was killed when Saint was taken prisoner, is certainly a match for him. Badass extraordinaire Mars, a starship captain posing as a smuggler so he can rescue stolen thresls, has no plans to find a mate, and certainly not a thresl as well-known and dangerous as Saint. Let the games begin!

The last few centuries of isolation have not done Saint any favors. Yes, his powers have grown to be astounding, but his social skills have been totally neglected and are practically nonexistent. I loved how blunt and direct he makes his points, not caring what people think. There is only one problem: he wants to be king again and today's citizens expect their king to be approachable and, well, more social. Saint's plans slowly morph as he battles with Mars and learns how this new world works, and it was a lot of fun to watch his "continued "education" as to what is the right thing to do.

Mars the badass starship captain, has been very successful at locating stolen thresls and returning them to their home world, if they want to go there. He is posing as a thresl smuggler, and in this volume he goes after the person who is at the center of all the illegal activity. Saint is definitely on his side on this one, and even though the rest of their mating will need quite some work, the common goal does give Mars and Saint something to work with. Imagine my surprise when I found out who it was, and even though I sort of saw it coming, the reveal was suspenseful, gave Saint and Mars an interesting challenge, and neatly tied up a few of the loose ends left in previous books.

If you like stories with cruel villains who get away with horrible misdeeds for several volumes of a series, if you enjoy reading about alien cultures in the far future who are still driven by power hungry megalomaniacs, and if you're looking for a hot read with two men who start out with one of them dead-set against mating before he discovers it might not be so bad, then you will probably like this novella.

At least the series is over, so there is that. This story seriously didn't deliver much of anything besides repetitive and unimaginative $*x scenes, plot twist that could have been good but veered into ridiculous and absurd territory and the relationship that lacked sparkle. Thank goodness it's the end, I didn't know if I had any will to continue but out of sheer curiosity I persisted.

Several books ago in the Thresl Chronicles Amber Kell introduced Saint. From the moment he pounced onto the page I wanted to read more of this Thresl. He’s brassy and harsh and he is missing all of his filters. His page time is always a guaranteed enjoyment.

Another several books ago happening was the introduction of Mars and the fact that he was destined to be Saint’s mate. This all lead to some high anticipation for this particular book for me. Saint Returns doesn’t disappoint. It is paced well and follows the main story of the other books in the series. The illegal Thresl smuggling must be stopped at all costs. Saint wants what best for his people at any and all costs. He also wants the throne that was stolen from him back.

Fans of the series will be pleased to see that Vohne and Kres (and his knives) and Zander and Leo make a rather large appearance in this installment to the series. They accompany Mars and Saint on their mission to put a stop to the Thresl smuggling.

In this grand finale, Saint's story is told at last. He has searched across the length and breadth of the galaxy, but he has finally found his mate, the elusive Mars. Like many other fans, I have been eager for the telling of this story. As eager as I was, I couldn't have possibly anticipated all the delightful twists this story took. It totally delivered.

Saint wants two thing- his mate and his throne. He has found his mate. Now he just needs to persuade him oh so carefully to accept their mating. The chase could be fun.

Mars has kept anyone he potentially cares about at a distance since his mission to help the abused Thresls from the illegal fighting rings is dangerous and a mate can be used against him. Saint is a lethal and determined force in his own right so Mars may have finally met his match. At least that is what Saint tells him. While he tries to resist the big Thresl's advances, he also feels concerned about Saint's plans to take back his throne and what that might all entail.

They come to an understanding and work together along with Vohne and Kres and Zander and Leo to put down one last fight ring and go for the final solution to who is operating in the shadows against the throne.

I was having such a good time reading this one that I was sorry to see the last page. Saint is revealed entirely and I loved what came out into the light. Mars is a good match for him. Saint observes that in other pairings one is generally out in front protecting the other, but in his pairing, he and his mate walk shoulder to shoulder. They are also equals in the bed room too. Saints mate, Mars, has no intention of letting him take control every time. That final battle when their true enemy was revealed was a wonderful shocker. I enjoyed the surprises.

So in the end, I thought this was a well done grand finale to the series particularly since it was a long anticipated book that didn't disappoint.

I liked it.
But...While it did give closure to the plots running through the previous books (smuggling of Thresls, etc), it didn't really feel completely done for me. I mean, will Matthews find a Thresl mate? How does Saint and Mars deal with and handle ruling? What are Kres and Vohne going to do? I saw reviewers say this was the last book -- is it? I can live with things as they are, but I can see the potential for at least a follow-up story.

I have enjoyed this soapbox drama series of Thresl. It’s hard to believe this is the finale book, I just felt there should be more to Saint’s story, a major more, to the building of this relationship. Yes, we took down the key evil person behind the scenes, that part finished. But I want to see the building of a new phase with Saint at its helm. Hopefully there will be more to come. A great creative series.

Saint Returns is the long-awaited series finale to The Thresl Chronicles. Set on another planet, this series is an unique blend of science fiction, paranormal and political thriller all rolled up in a M/M romance. In book six, readers get the long-awaited story of Saint, former king and bad-ass Thresl. In this installment, Saint has finally found his mate, Mars. But don’t expect Insta-Love and happy times right away. You see, Mars has no desire to be the bonded of a Thresl King, and he leads Saint on a merry chase before allowing the other man to catch him!

I think it’s very difficult to create a character that everyone loves, wants to see more of and then when you finally get to his story actually pull it off. The anticipation is greater than the actual product. But that is not the case with Ms. Kell and Saint Returns. The author delivers Saint’s book with a lot of humor, sexiness, political intrigue and a few plot points that turn the series on its head – in a good way. Saint Returns was everything I wanted in Saint’s story and more.

The characterizations in this book were dead on and the author kept continuity throughout the series. Mars and Saint have to be my favorite couple now. Their spark and snarky banter was a delight. Add in the secondary characters I loved from the other Thresl books, and this was just a fun read.

So, if you are looking for a good sci-fi based M/M book that has solid world building, great characters and hot sex scenes then look no further...The Thresl Chronicles is it. And once you read books one through five, enjoy the last installment. It was worth the wait!

I can't believe that I am giving this book three stars (my lowest rating) but I am... grrr I have been looking forward to Saint's story for a long time and now that I have read it... I am disappointed! It felt like scenes were missing! It jumped from one thing to another without flow and where is my self-centered, overbearing, "I only care about myself and finding my mate" Saint? I wanted my growly, mumbling beast and I got... this story. We are only shown a couple of his many "amazing" capabilities that we have been hearing about in other books... and why did he let Mars hit the ground so hard if he has the ability to "manipulate" things? Wouldn't he want to do everything in his powers to protect his mate? The questions just keep jumping out and there are no answers... *headdesk*

And boy was the story rushed!!! Saint and Mars' room is blowing up and then, bam, they are practically running for the hills to find the bad guys stronghold... no planning, no recon... grrr

And where was the emotion? I got the "growls" from a few of the guys, that was to be expected... but where was our "mate connection" that is usually pouring off the page... we had three MC couples playing a big part in this story and we got more info about Kres' knives than anything else... ugh!!!

There was an unexpected twist, and I finally got excited... but it fell flat...

I guess I was expecting too much because not many others seem to feel the way I do... *sigh*

I am now absolutely delighted, annoyed and disappointed! Delighted to have read book 6 of The Thresl Chronicles, annoyed at how rushed it felt and disappointed that I have finished it with what felt like half the story missing.
It felt a little bit rushed with the story of Saint and Mars' relationship and that annoyed me as I felt their story deserved to be richer than it was. Also I am disappointed that the ending seemed rushed and the story ended long before I expected it to. WARNING: Spoiler ahead:
I was most disappointed over the fact that the conflict of who should rule the Thresls was so easily glossed over and seemingly with no hard feelings or troubles - it was way to contrived for my liking.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I really enjoyed all of the chronicles. I couldnt stop reading them.

Saint was introduced in the 2nd book and on the next ones we got a bit of infotmation about his journey to find his mate. I got excited when we found out it was mars.

I expected it to be the best book but after reading it i still stick to the 1st one.

In the book we finally found out who was the great enemy of the thresls -finally!!!- but this book lacks an epilogue. I would love to know how saints would deal with his new role.

I like saint, this was a great conclusion to the series. Overall I have enjoyed this series, the plot got a bit cliche in many of the books. Book one was my favourite by far - but in general this was a fun and light hearted read.

No real angst, a bit predictable and what I call a surface book. As in the author skims the surface and tells a story but doesnt dig deeper to bring a really amazing plot to us.

Enjoy it for when you want brainless fun.

Still scattered, jumping here and there but Saint has his mate, the intrigue has been solved, the bad guy killed and the Thresls safe.

A good bit of Kres too which I enjoyed.

However, some characters didn't stay true, the climax was a bit odd, the bad guy was predictable and again with all the technology at their disposal some poor mistakes were made.

But as I don't read Amber Kell for a good mystery I was able to relax and enjoy the brain candy.

Gah! I desperately hope this isn't the end! There are still so many characters that I want to see find their mates! So many!

Lots of closure for most of the main couples, the direct ones that were always mentioned so that was nice... but I sure do hope this series is far from being over. >o<

This book was so amazing. It was my favorite out of the entire series! I love the Saint and Mars together they are so perfect for each other. Then the huge shock that it was saint's brother that was the mastermind behind this was crazy! She tied the series together so well and the ending was perfect

This is hard to say, but I'm not sure I like one of the MCs. Saint was not very likeable and as much as I pity all that he has been through, I'm not sure it helped. I also just didn't get much of a personality from Mars, his mate. I rounded up from 3.5 stars though, for Kreslan. Really enjoyed seeing more of him and Vohne in this book.
