July 9, 2017What's the point of reading a shifter romance when the fated mates decides nah we don't want it let's just sleep around?
That's supposed to be a sure thing, where the shifters are supposed to be annoyingly devoted and faithful.
Now this stupid moose, literally a moose, decides he's not good enough for his mate so the he's way to "protect" her would be to hurt her.
So she apparently is comfortable with pump and dump. And decided he's no longer worth saving her virginity for, so she is very sexually active AFTER the mating attraction is discovered and he pushed her away. He has asked her to move on but in reality he expected her to stay a virgin, save herself for him, pine for him while he'll take sick satisfaction from constantly refusing her.
He was apparently a ladies' man, now whether that was before or after the mate bond, I do not know, however his defence for the acceptability of HIS "infidelity" over HERS was "it's different for me. I'm a man". Yeah. He went there.
Heroine was equal parts irritating.
So a DNF !

This novel was action packed from the get-go. The slight overlap with the previous novel gave me a sense of continuity. Langlais writes vivid descriptions that bring both the scenery and the characters to life. I felt as if I’d been transported to Kodiak Point alongside these vivid individuals. She also worked in a twist on SEALs that gave me more than a few giggle-snort moments.
Langlais sure knows how to crank up the heat in a relationship. Langlais makes her characters so personal and vividly real. A certain fox-lady definitely drew my attention. She was absolutely priceless in the best of ways. Boris’ bullheadedness was a blast. It stood up very well against Jan’s ‘take no prisoners’ attitude.
Langlais has once again created a suspenseful yet erotically satisfying novel that held my attention from cover to cover. This is one tale that I wouldn’t hesitate, even for a second, to recommend to others.

I had already read this entire series before this series was released on audio, so I had already read all of the books in the Kodiak Point series before starting any of the audios. While I wasn’t a huge fan of the audio of Kodiak’s Claim, I still wanted to continue to give the audios a try, because I love this series.
Outfoxed by Love is one of my top two favorite books in the series. I love Boris and his very large and majestic rack. He is retired military with PTSD and he is also a Moose shifter. Don’t let the fact that he is not a predator make you think he isn’t a force to be reckoned with. Moose are one of the deadliest animals in Alaska, more people are actually injured each year in Alaska by moose than bears.
Jan is another great character. She is my favorite of all the females in this series. Jan is an wiley artic fox. She is also a gun nut. While she appears to be girly, as petite blonde with love of many girly things, she is more than capable in the wilds of Alaska. She has quite the weapons collection and isn’t scared to use any of them. Her parents are hilarious and very manipulative to both Jan and Boris.
Outfoxed by Love starts about three quarters of the way through Kodiak’s Claim. Jan has wrecked her truck and is on the run from the bad guys. Boris decided that he must protect the alpha’s petite secretary before she chips a nail. Boris is in for a rude awakening when Jan decides to show him her true colors. There are much shenanigans from the villains reeking havoc on the town.
Although this book starts in the middle of the plot of the previous book, you can read this one without having read book one. I do think you will enjoy the story more with a little more background on the villain.
Narration
If you read my audio review of Kodiak’s Claim, you know I wasn’t a huge fan of the narration. I enjoyed this one better. I don’t know if it is because I love the story of Boris and Jan or if the narration was truly better, but I did like it better.
I never thought the narration was horrible. I just didn’t think it was a great fit for this series. The humor wasn’t brought out like I felt it should. I think the humor was picked up better in Outfoxed by Love. Maybe with the first book it was a case of “it’s not you, but me”.

Outfoxed by Love was so much fun!! Jan is feisty, and even when Boris was showing how stubborn he could be, the steaminess and imminent danger as well as the humor had me reading as fast as possible :)

I never thought a moose could be sexy...but Boris definitely is a wild hunk.
The story itself didn't do much for me though. A bit predictable and the standard cliché of I can't be with you cause I'm not good enough...

"Outfoxed By Love" Kodiak Point #2 by author Eve Langlais was the second book in this series. As each book in the series ticks by, the factor of mystery grows. Who is really behind all the danger to Kodiak Point?!
"Outfoxed by love tells us about the difficult journey to love for moose shifter Boris and the beautiful arctic fox shifter, Jan, who refuses to be outfoxed by the stubborn moose!
Boris is ex military and the current enforcer for the Kodiak Point clan. He is big, mean, tough and seriously damaged from his tragic experiences overseas. My heart went out to Boris and all he suffered and was still suffering. Yes he is tough but the sexy moose was troubled. Boris loved Jan and had for years. Before he left for his tours, they made plans for their future. But things changed. Boris came home scarred emotionally and physically. Because of this he kept his distance from Jan not wanting her to see how damaged he was, believing she deserved better than him. Good thing for Boris that Jan wasn't having any of that nonsense! She loves him too much to give up. Yes, Boris is stubborn but no match for a fox as cunning as Jan.
I loved Jan. She loved Boris unconditionally and absolutely refused to give up on him or let him give up on them. She knew being overseas changed him, hurt him but it never changed how she felt about him or the future they planned together. Jan was getting her HEA weather Boris liked it or not! Jan was just as stubborn and brave as Boris. Oh, did I mention her gun collection? Yep, she has an awesome one! Her collection can rival his! Jan knew how to expertly use every weapon she owned and even some she didn't. Should Boris be worried? LOL!! Absolutely, because Jan was determined to use everything in her arsenal to bring a certain sexy, stubborn moose to her way of thinking.
This story had love and humor and passion with some heartbreak added in to balance it out wonderfully. This all going on while trouble, danger and mystery was abound. There is a sweet HEA and the drama going on with and around the H/h is resolved. However, the aspect of danger still lurks, continuing with the next in the series..."Polar Bared."

I'm not sure what to write about Eve's books anymore. I'm starting to sound like a crazy, obsessed fan-girly nut. But I guess that's just how Eve's writing makes me feel.
This one is over-the-top Eve all the way. I would suggest reading the first of the series before this one but this can be read as a stand alone. I just think you'll enjoy the MCs a bit more if you get to know them in the first book before you get started on this one.
I really liked that this story delved into some of the problems of readjusting to civilian life after going through the horrors of war. I felt so bad for Boris and for Jan too for that matter. She just perseveres and it's quite a fun ride seeing all the shenanigans they all get up to. I love her mom and dad.
I can't wait to read the next one. Eve is one of the few authors that I bump up to the very top of my TBR pile, which is assuming mammoth proportions, BTW! I am so happy to have been given the opportunity to receive this book in exchange for an honest review and honestly? . . . Eve just keeps getting better.

Jan is a lady-like fox shifter with a gun toting habit- and a great marksman too. She’s been waiting years for moose-headed Boris to finally admit he’s hers...but to no avail. Jan finds herself in the crosshairs of a lunatic and instead of running, she meets the danger head on, much to Boris’ shock..and delight.
This book was so much fun! Jan and Boris were both strong, independent, sarcastically passionate individuals, and together could set a room on fire with their attraction! The villain from the first book has carried over and I loved the new mysterious development in the story! Things are heating up for the residents of Kodiak Point and I’m looking forward to the showdown!

A fox and a moose go into the woods… sounds like a joke intro. I think this author really likes to stretch the bonds of creativity. What next? Field mouse and dinosaur? Ha!

This is the second book in the Kodiak Point series and one I was delightedly eager to grab up and read. And why may you ask? For Boris the bullheaded and soul-weary moose who refuses to act on the mutual attraction he feels for a certain gorgeous female and Jan, the arctic fox shifter who also happens to be just the thing to soothe, heal and love on this misguided male by hell, high water or maybe just her mama's double-barrel shotgun.
Chronologically, this story begins three-fourths of the way through the first book taking a parallel course for a time before following its own path. Yes, this is a not-so-subtle hint that they should probably be read in order.
Boris along with a handful of guys from his military unit came back from a really bad war. They saw comrades die, but also were captured and tortured until they escaped. Unfortunately, all this did something to Boris and it is only by the tough tenacity of his friend, Reid, that he even came back as functional as he did. Boris left a gentle promise behind to a lovely lady and on his return he breaks it for her own good because he has changed and is no longer worthy- not that he ever was- of her love nor does he feel she would be safe around him since he experiences violent night terrors almost every night. He spends years ducking the lovely fox shifter that was to be his and just content to exist and protect their town of shifters until he is brought up short by a new enemy and a real threat to his fox.
Frustrated is an understatement to what Jan feels about Boris' avoidance all this time. She would have moved on if she could, but her inner vixen and her own heart scream that he is The One. Too bad it took smashing up her beloved truck, getting chased by a pack of rogue shifters, and then drawing the attentions of Boris' skilled enemy before Boris woke up and paid her some attention. Naturally, he comes along reluctantly, but Jan has decided to outfox the moose and make him do the chasing this time.
I thought the first one in this series began with a bang, but Boris and Jan's story just kept things going splendidly. I loved how the author wove in their romantic chase, the witty humorous dialogue, and the grand series arc about the danger Gene's crazed need for vengeance and another shadowy enemy set to destroy Kodiak Point. The themes of PTSD, unrequited love, vengeance and an unknown evil should have made it have a darker, deeper tone, but with true finesse through passion and humor this book stayed light and engaging with just a flavor of the other.
The paranormal element wasn't stinted on either. I loved that Boris' moose and Jan's fox along with the enemy shifters were a strong presence in shifted form. The moose and fox are also developed with their characters taking on their animal's temperaments too. Simple stuff, I know, but just one more thing I love about this series.
Oh and let's not neglect to mention the passion. At first it is just the sexual tension they both feel as Boris tries to deny them both, but then when these two come together Holy Hot Hunka Love, Peeps! They didn't miss a flat surface both vertical and horizontal. And Boris' shower, yeah, I'm claiming that bad boy for my own needs (I would not complain if Boris is still in it either).
So, to wrap it all up, another abso-fab outing with this series and I can't wait for what is to come. Dare I hope it is a redemption story for poor Gene? Fans of light, yet caliente hot Paranormal Romance should venture to grab up this series before it gets much further along.

Das Negative, wie auch beim ersten Band, waren die Sexszenen. Die Übersetzung mit Kanal, Rohr und Möse waren wieder nix für mich.
Das wird sich aber wohl leider in den noch folgenden Bänden auch nicht ändern.

How can you not love Jan’s story. She is an amazing character and the highlight of the first book. This book had a lot more humor in it than the last book. Boris and Jan have great chemistry, and it is nice to see Jan just accept and love Boris the way he is. I am not sure about the Boris character. I adore him but his treatment of Jan is so off-putting that it is hard to root for them as a couple.
I’m not sure what to make of the Gene character. The author really works hard at the end to redeem his character but I’m not sure it’s enough to make him likable. The story of two opponents with differing agendas was good but it seemed to fit more into the first book and not so much in this one.
I think my biggest issue with these books and other books I’ve read by Eve Langlais is the misogynistic tendencies of the main male characters. Jan is more than capable of taking care of herself and others but is constantly treated as a helpless damsel by Boris, which brings the love story down a notch.
I’m not sure what to make of the Gene character. The author really works hard at the end to redeem his character but I’m not sure it’s enough to make him likable. The story of two opponents with differing agendas was good but it seemed to fit more into the first book and not so much in this one.
I think my biggest issue with these books and other books I’ve read by Eve Langlais is the misogynistic tendencies of the main male characters. Jan is more than capable of taking care of herself and others but is constantly treated as a helpless damsel by Boris, which brings the love story down a notch.

Jan's parents took this from 3 stars to 4, they were awesome!
This starts towards the end of the first book with Boris searching for Jan and learning she isn't the fragile lady he assumed, but instead is someone who can take care of herself. Jan would be great fun to hang out with. He is still trying to stay away from her due to his PSTD from the war, but when she is threatened, he can't stay away any longer.
I absolutely adored Tammy and Reid from the first book. They had great banter and chemistry. Boris and Jan are almost as good, but Jan's parents totally make up the difference.

I was very curious about Boris and Jan after the first book. Things are left hanging and you have to wonder what happened there. This brings you up to speed, picking up with the car accident and Jan separating from Tammy. You get to see what happened with her and when she meets up with Boris.
I love Jan and the way she tries temper being a lady with her bada$$ gun totting side. She is a riot when she decides not to hide her tough chick side. Man, if you could mix Donna Reed with The Bride from Kill Bill, then you would have Jan. She is more than a little awesome. The banter with Boris is fabulous.
Boris has numerous issues to overcome, the biggest is his PTSD. Thankfully he comes to his senses and seizes his gal. Definitely the perfect pairing. Mix in the bit with her parents and you will be rolling!
There is some delightful smexy action happening, cause true mates just can’t keep their hands off for too long. Yummy Alpha shifter is my favorite flavor!! Have the ice cream ready!
The side plot with Gene gets interesting, because we start to see more of him and find out his motivations. Ya might be surprised at how they all end up.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Chandra Skyye, who I really liked on the first book. This book wasn't quite a love fest for my ears. She just did weird things with Jan’s dialogue. More often than not she made her sound immature and a touch whiny, which is not the character at all. It was mostly only at the spoken lines, the overall narrative was smooth and a great tone. Maybe she was trying to go too far away from the Tammy voice in the last book. I just wish she had made other choices, perhaps more snarky.
I am very interested in seeing what happens in the next book. I am hooked on Kodiak Point!! I really hope all the rest of the audio is coming soon!!

So we met these two characters in book 1, the big grumpy Moose 🫎 and the feisty Fox 🦊.
Unfortunately what could have been a cute story just came across as misogynistic! When the foxes truck was shot off a cliff in book 1 and her POV from that point is where book 2 starts, it becomes very clear what the moose thought of her defending herself!
As he comes across dead bodies he chalked it up to an accident or lucky shot, and not giving her the credit she was due as a kick ass female who’s father taught her how to take care of herself!
Then the book goes on with him denying his feelings for her and constantly pushing her away which gets really annoying real fast. There’s attempts on her life and her parents even come into the picture, well they literally showed up inside the Moose’s house well he was still sleeping in bed. They didn’t approve of him then they did after their daughter was taken and he got her back.
(He chose to let his old friend the ghost get away and forgave him rather then killing him because he could tell he was just in emotional pain)
Then the Moose proposed marriage to the fox with a shot gun aimed at her (which apparently is an unhealthy family tradition) then when talking about having children with the fox especially females he goes on a tangent about teaching them to defend themselves from men. Again that’s misogynistic behaviour because well you should teach you daughters to be strong and able to defend themselves, but also TEACH their sons and fellow men to RESPECT women so maybe they don’t have to live with the fear of having to defend themselves against the opposite sex 🤦♀️

2nd book in PNR series - Boris, bull moose shifter and Jan, a fox.
The Good
-I like Langlais’ humor and it comes through here.
-Jan’s a good heroine, saves herself alot.
-I like the series ‘verse.
The Bad and Everything In Between
-Boris is the typical “I want to protect her, so I’ll hurt her by pushing her away for years.” So frustrating.
-It was lacking something that’s hard to define, like excitement in the story or between the characters. I think my frustration with Boris just kept me from connecting to it and I kept putting it down and reading something else.
The Bottom Line
Not much to say - I wasn’t excited by it, I liked it well enough. If you like shifter romances, you may like it.

Outfoxed by Love was such a fun story. I loved Jan and how strong and stubborn she was. I was happy though that when we entered the story she had decided after years to stop pining over Boris and decided it was his turn to do the work. Scarred and broken from the war, Boris refuses to let his true mate claim him because he is sure that will force her to be with someone he feels is unworthy and too damaged. The only problem is that while he knows she deserves better, his moose goes crazy just thinking of her with anyone else. This was well written and had great humour and action. Jan was a real kickass and I loved watching as Boris discovered that she could handle a lot, including him. Can’t wait to read more of this series.

Brilliant, funny, exciting and more
Even though this is the second book of a series it is still a self-contained story. But still enhanced by reading the first book but not mandatory. I love the humor and conflicts within this story. Lots of action going on with some loving in-between. I loved Jan’s parents. Awesome character interplay throughout the book. I also enjoy how the author doesn't stick to just one breed of shifter either in the group or in the mating’s. Kept my interest thru to the end. Well written and very entertaining to read. I was given a free copy for an honest review.

Yet another entertaining, fun, sexy and exciting goodie from Eve Langlais! A definite must for fans of Eve's writing, as well as fans of the genre. Definitely reading time well spent ;)
I enjoyed the characters Jan and Boris from Kodiak's Claim, book 1 of the Kodiak Point series and continued to enjoy them in book 2. These two are absolutely perfect for one another whether they realize it or not. I mean, come on. What male wouldn't like a gun toting female to...snuggle with?
Now I will wait patiently for book 3, Polar Bared. I hope things come together for Gene. Even though he's not the nicest, he's pretty bad-ass :)

This book was funnier than the previous one.
I never thought that a grumpy moose can be fun to have around, specially Boris.
He had amazing chemistry with Jan as well as a healthy dose of fear - eventually - of her and her father.

Let me start out by saying Jan is my hero! I love her she is unlike any character I have ever met. She is a girly girl who loves guns, knives and fighting. Oh an did I mention she is a fox shifter? She k own the stubborn Boris is her mate but like I said he is stubborn!
This book follow them on one heck of an adventure and Boris only gets shot once so this book is amazing. If you are looking for an awesome shifter book look no further I mean a fox and a moose how can you go wrong?

I liked it okay. As I was reading, and, finally, our H decides our h is the one for him, I couldn't figure out why? I had been reading the same story and then all of a sudden, switch, mine, mine, mine starts from him. Nothing different happened, his attitude was still off, but after all this time, he finally just gave in, just because I guess

Another hit! I loved Jan and Boris in the first book, but they really came alive in Outfoxed and Jan's parents were an absolute hoot! Living in the south I know a few people just like them! lol

Jan and Boris were seriously hilarious and I didn't think I'd like them together but they really work well and Jan was more gun ho than Boris was which I didn't think was possible but was really good and I liked how Boris was with Gene the 'bad guy'.

After reading a couple of angsty books this is just what I was looking for. A lot of fun and entertainment without having to put a lot of brain power into it. This is a great book for a fun, pick me up moment.
