Sequel to Challenge the Darkness Yellowstone Book Two
Fredrik is back from college and trying to stay out of his power-hungry brother’s way, until his brother takes a prisoner for his pleasure. Unable to tolerate his family’s cruelty, Fredrik overcomes his fear to help her escape back to her pack. There, he meets Christopher, and their instant attraction tells him Christopher is the one. However, since the threat of his brother remains, Fredrik is reluctant to pursue a relationship.
Christopher is still figuring out his place in the pack and has been living on his own to avoid making waves with his brother, Mikael. Now he’s met his soulmate, and he’ll do anything to take care of his love, including rejoining the pack.
With coaxing, Fredrik accepts his feelings, and Christopher’s pack gives him the home he’s never had. But Fredrick soon realizes he should keep running. His brother is on his tail and will stop at nothing to obtain the power he craves, especially when he realizes the source of the power could be Fredrik himself.
Dirk is very much an outside kind of man. He loves travel and seeing new things.
Dirk worked in corporate America for way too long and now spends his days writing, gardening, and taking care of the home he shares with his partner of more than two decades.
He has a Master’s Degree and all the other accessories that go with a corporate job. But he is most proud of the stories he tells and the life he's built.
Dirk lives in Pennsylvania in a century old home and is blessed with an amazing circle of friends.
After the exciting events of ‘Challenge the Darkness’, I was looking forward to finding out more about the Old Faithful pack, alpha couple Denton and Mikael, and the consequences of their victory over Alpha Anton. At the end of the previous book, I was sure the members of the evil alpha’s pack, disbanded as it may have been, would make some sort of comeback. They do indeed find a way to make more trouble, and, this time, Mikael’s younger brother, Christopher, ends up right in the middle of fighting what is becoming a more significant threat than anyone thought. He also finds his mate in Fredrik, who is one of Anton’s sons – and that has more than one unexpected consequence. This story about the aftermath of binding two packs together, the new incarnation of evil, and a darkness that is spread more widely than expected is suspenseful and action-packed, but also has some great emotional moments giving me hope that family and love are stronger than fear and terror – even in the world of the Yellowstone Wolves.
Fredrik is one of many of Anton’s sons, and it makes him miserable that he is related to such an evil wolf. He has managed to stay away for a long time by going to college, but with Anton dead the money stops coming, and Fredrik returns only to find one of his half brothers in charge. Juneau is as bad as Anton and has even more grandiose plans, but Fredrik will have none of it. Once he rescues Juneau’s latest prisoner and escapes, Fredrik has some tough decisions to make. He wants to run as far as he can to escape the evil of his family. But once he meets Christopher and realizes they are mated, things get complicated. Two pups who are clearly related to him appear, Fredrik discovers some of Anton’s evil power inside him, and ends up torn between running to keep the others safe and staying to help them fight for their right to live.
Christopher has also been away to get a college education, but even though his return to his pack is far less traumatic than Fredrik’s, he has his doubts and believes he no longer fits in. Finding out that Fredrik is his mate changes things a little, but Christopher’s struggle to find his place within a hierarchy he is no longer used to keeps him mentally busy. Christopher is ready to compromise, but that doesn’t make things easy and straightforward. Figuring out how he fits into the pack, what his role is regarding Frederik, and what he wants out of life now that he is mated makes for an interesting journey.
I was happy to see Mikael and Denton take an active role in the proceedings, and having many of the other secondary characters return as well increased my enjoyment of this novel significantly. The developing balance of power with an alpha pair in charge of a pack made for some interesting situations, as did the addition of a few more kids who take an active role. The growing understanding of the rules, these wolves’ religion, and what “being in the light” means added another level and provided a dimension of world building that made the situation even more interesting.
If you like the Yellowstone wolves, if the power struggle between the children of the light and the encroaching darkness keeps you fascinated, and if you’re looking for a somewhat darker novel full of action, tension, passion, and two mates who need to learn how they fit together, then you will probably like this novel. I certainly did and look forward to the next installment!

In book one we met the wolves of the Old Faithful pack. They’d defeated the evil Anton and joined together as one pack with Mikhail as their leader along with his new partner, Denton. Chris is Mikhail’s brother and he’s at a loss as to what role he should fulfill in the new pack structure.
Frederik is the brother of Juneau and a relation of Anton. Frederik has seen what the darkness can do and doesn’t want it to consume him. When he sees an opportunity to save a girl from Juneau’s clutches he does so at great cost to himself.
Turns out the girl is the niece of Mikhail and the pack is so grateful they offer him a new home. Though he’s reluctant to endanger them further, he agrees temporarily, especially when he sniffs out his mate – Chris.
Chris and Frederik must fight their attraction until they’ve both decided that mating permanently is what they want and in the meantime the entire pack must band together to protect Frederik and defeat his brother.
**
This was another great installment in the series. I love the light and dark elements and the magical qualities that get infused into these stories.
There is a bit more depth to this story than some shifter stories and the recurring battle against the darkness gives a nice continuity.
I loved Mikhail and Denton as a couple – they were so antagonistic then hot for each other! Chris and Frederik are a little less volatile so I didn’t feel quite so strongly for them as a couple, but I enjoyed watching them each heal from their respective emotional wounds.
This is a series I’d definitely recommend to all shifter fans and give it 4.5 of 5 stars.
This was book 2 in the "Yellowstone Wolves" series. Christopher the younger brother of Alpha Mikael is trying to figure out his place in the pack. When his niece Jane is kidnapped and returned he meets his mate. Fredrik is also home from college he is the son of Anton who Mikael beat his brother and his brother is trying to do the same thing his father did so Fredrik left the pack. I didn't like Fredrik he was too whiny for me I did like Christopher he was lost he wanted his brother to give him a pack to lead but he doesn't have the first clue how to do it. The pack has welcomed Fredrik and when his brother starts causing trouble they will do anything to protect him. Fredrik and Christopher begin to get close although Fredrik wants to leave him. The sex scenes between these two were hot. Turns out Fredrik has powers that are stronger than his brothers but his mother always told him never to use it. When the pack finds hunters on there land they also find two pup shifters who turn out to be related to Fredrik. This was a pretty good read Fredrik stood up to his brother to protect his new pack and the cubs who are now his and Christopher's to raise. Christopher also found his place in the pack. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
This is a quick and easy shifter romance. Alternately exciting and romantic, it follows the conventions of shifter writing carefully without really adding anything beyond the expected.
Frederik is an interesting character. I enjoyed watching him start to understand and use his power. Christopher seemed younger than Frederik even though they are the same age. The contrast of Christopher desperately wanting power while Frederik struggles to control his was interesting.
Like all Andrew Grey stories, the writing is good and the story well-crafted without being particularly memorable. The shifter elements are quite formulaic and while I enjoyed the story, I’m struggling to recall names and details a few days later. This is a quick, entertaining story.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Inked Rainbow Reads.
Hach... Absolut empfehlenswert ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the second book in the series. There are some continuity problems between this book and the first book. For example, Vadim is a subservient wolf to Anton in book 1, and the newest baby born to Jerry and his wife is named Dimitri after the founder of the pack. In this book, that entire portion of the book is thrown out the window, now baby Dimitri from book one is named Vadim. But that is just one of the name game problems in this book.
I think the Andrew Grey dynasty (and yes, for those who did not know, Dirk Greyson is another pen name for Andrew Grey) is reaching its saturation point. He is putting out so many books - about 10-12 a year -- that the quality is falling apart.
But, here is a quick run-down of the story . . . Juneau is the son of Anton, the evil wolf in book one, who is trying to gather Anton's packs together in the same ruthless style that his father used. In a matter of happenstance, Supreme Alpha Mikael Volkov's niece is kidnapped and presented to Juneau to be raped. Fredrick won't allow that to happen and he saves the Niece and drives her back to the safety of Alpha Mikael Volkov's pack lands. When he arrives, he smells the sent of Mikael's brother, Christopher, who is apparently Fredrick's true mate. (So, it looks like we are in for a repeat of book one in the series with another true mate relationship. Classic Andrew Grey formulaic writing -- virtually the same plot in the subsequent story, just change the names of the main characters and the "bad guy".).
At some point, it is determined that the pack will check if there are any interlopers on the pack lands, and they learn that Juneau had subcontracted out a killing squad of human hunters. A group of 10 (or so) wolves decide that they will attack and destroy the human hunters. Before the hunt, they go to the sacred cave where the "Mother" has her strongest presence. Fredrick goes with the group - primarily because Christopher is also going and he wants to be with his true mate. When all of the wolves are in the cave, Fredrick has a direct conversation with the Mother in his head, who reveals that he has the dark side and the light side in his body, and she tells him that he will have an internal fight at some point to see which side is more dominant. (Sounds a little like Yoda speaking to Luke Skywalker if you ask me.).
The wolves attack the humans and destroy them. Catherine, Alpha Mikael's sister, gets hit with a bullet, but Fredrick is able to remove it and bandage her up. They also discovery two little pups who are related to Fredrick. He and Christopher are made foster parents for these two pups.
The story proceeds and the "family" relationship develops between Fredrick, Christopher and the two pups (Pietro and Nate). They also become stronger members of Alpha Mikael's pack. The two try to find the reason for the darkness in Fredrick's soul. It appears to be part of something that was inherited. Fredrick has the ability to use the darkness for good; yet, Fredrick has no information about the power that he might be able to control.
With the power the he knows he possesses, Fredrick challenges his brother, Juneau, for control of Juneau's pack. Fredrick goes to Juneau's pack land and challenges him one on one. Christopher knows something is wrong and follows Fredrick. He witnesses the enormous power that Fredrick manifests to defeat Juneau without ever throwing a single punch. He uses the energy that is inside him to lift Juneau off the ground, destroy his pack land home, and virtually crush him.
Ultimately, Juneau is destroyed (the book intimates strongly that he kills himself, but that is just left to the imagination). Fredrick, Christopher and their two pups become permanent members of the pack, and there is a happily for now ending.
After reading this book, it is virtually identical to the plot development in the "happiness is" series with Geoff and his Amish husband. Each book in the series tells a very similar similar story, but the names of the primary characters are changed along with the "evil de jour" in the book. This is a good story - don't get me wrong - but I am getting tired of formula writing by Andrew Grey and his various pen names. Three stars from me.
Fredrick is hearing the Mother tell him wisdom, just like Mikael. So now we have two wolves who can hear what the Mother says.
This is not a good sequel, and I give it only 2 stars.
Independent Reviewer for Divine Magazine, I was gifted my copy of this book.
Fredrik is home from college, trying to stay out his older brother's path. But the latest "gift" given to his brother by one of his cronies is a step too far for Fredrik, and he runs with the child. Straight into her pack, whose Alpha killed his father. Straight into the arms of his mate. Christopher hasn't found his place in the Old Faithful pack yet, and spends a lot of his time alone. But Fredrik helps him to find that place. The danger of Fredrik's brother is never far away though, and both men have to fight for their place in each other life.
This is book two in the Yellowstone Wolves series. I have not read book one, Challenging the Darkness, which is Christopher's older brother, Mikael and Denton's story. I'm not missing anything, so I don't think its NECESSARY to read book one, but I want to go back and read it. Mikael and Denton play a huge part here and I'm let intrigued by some of the things they say.
I enjoyed this, my first read by this author! Its a little bit different and different is always good in my opinion. I liked the fight Fredrik had with himself and his darkness, and the twist that took. I liked that, although Fredrik knew he wanted Christopher, he couldn't really truly have him in all ways til his brother's threat had been neutralized. I LOVED the twins and them wanting to be wolfies all the time, and the place they took in Fredrik and Christopher's hearts and lives. HATED Fredrik's older brother and his cronies (gotta say, LOVED the use of that word in this book!!) and so pleased they got their just rewards. Loved how accepting the Old Faithful pack was of Fredrik, right from the start, even before it became clear of his mate status to Christopher.
BUT what really really did it for me, was that Frderik was not shortened, not a single time, and Christopher only once or twice, BUT only by Fredrik when his mate was doing all those wonderful things to him! LOVED that. Don't know why, but I needed to say it.
Just the right amount of sex and violence to make it a solid...
4 star read.

(Originally reviewed for Love Bytes Reviews with a copy provided by the author / publisher for an honest review. Rated 4.5 out of 5.0 stars.)
Sometimes I get really nervous when I pick up a second book in a series that I reviewed the first book of. Only because I read so many darned books, that sometimes I have trouble remembering the first book. That wasn’t the case here, and even if it had been, Mr. Greyson does such a great job with background reminder hints, that it all flowed right back to me.
We are again visiting the Yellowstone Wolves, a short time after the shakeup that happened with the packs in Challenge the Darkness. The bad Alpha, Anton, is gone, but his son Juneau has seized power and is very much a despot king type of Alpha, like his father. Evil rules the pack. Juneau’s half-brother Fredrik though, is nothing like him. To start with, he is gay, something that Juneau despises and Juneau has decreed that he will be forced to breed pups.
When a sixteen year old girl is brought into the house, tied up and ready for Juneau to have his non-consensual way with her, Fredrik jumps in, they escape and run to the girl’s home pack. This pack you will remember if you read the first book. It is the pack led by Mikael and Denton, who we came to know and love in that first book. Who is this guy Fredrik meets named Christopher? And why does he smell so good?
Enough spoilers. Mr. Greyson has again given us an interested fast paced shifter tale. I’m really enjoying his take on wolf shifters and I’m guessing he will be continuing this series, since there was a pretty large hint towards the end of this installment of a possible couple for the next one?
I recommend this book, as I do all of Mr. Greyson’s books that I’ve read so far. The book is well written and well edited, like all of his books. The world building and character development is very good, and even the background characters have lots of substance. If you are into m/m wolf shifter stories, this series would be a good one for you.
3.5 Stars Okay, you had me at Shifter. This is a first read for me from this author and I enjoyed the pace of the story and an interesting dynamic that faces Fredrik when he rescues a member of the Old Faithful pack from the clutches of his power hungry half brother Juneau.
Knowing that his brother will stop at nothing to make Fredrik pay for his insubordination he believes it better to keep moving rather than bring the wrath of his brother down on the Old Faithful pack and potentially cause catastrophe and the destruction.
To be honest, I enjoyed the story but I wasn't particularly enthralled by the characters, perhaps because I joined the action late, reading this as a standalone novel rather than the second instalment. I liked the take on Shifter society and their practice of being children of light (a new experience for Fredrik whose father and brother gravitate towards the dark) under the guidance of a goddess with a sense of humour.
This 2nd book in the series focuses on Christopher, youngest brother of the alpha, and Frederik, whose older brother took over the pack of dark wolves following the death of their brother and alpha in the previous book.
The overall story is kind of the same - good vs bad wolves and a mated pair at the centre. Again the story built slowly to a rushed ending. This story could have benefited from losing at least a third of the sex scenes which I found myself skimming very early on.
I really like this book, but I loved the first one. This is Christopher's story, Mikael's youngest brother, and his fated mate. His mate turns out to be Anton's son, the monstrous dark wolf that terrorized the surrounding packs.
Fredrik is nothing like his father and proves himself to the new Old Faithful pack where he finds his mate Christopher. Fredrik's brother is worse then his father and is ashamed of his family and the horror they had punished upon their acquired pack members.
I must say Fredrik was annoying with his consent self-doubts and saying he couldn't this or that. But all in all I really enjoyed the book. If anything the love scenes were beautiful. I like Dirk Greyson's writing and look forward to his third book.
This book was FAR better than the first in the series: there were lesser mistakes, lesser repetitions (the only one was Christopher saying over and over again that he and Fredrik were mates, there won't be another in their whole lives, etc.), and the plot flowed really smoothly.
The storyline, the thrill, everything was amazing. I was completely engrossed as to how they were going to get rid of Juneau.
Nate and Pietro are just so ADORABLE!!! I loved the parts which had them in action of one form or another. It's no secret that I love books with kids in them, and I think that is one of the major reasons why I was able to connect with this story as much as I did.
Am I having fun? Yes, I'm having fun. Is it high brow literature? Definitively not! Does it have to be to be fun? Also definitively not. People need guilty pleasures in their lives, it spices things up. Again, horny shifters take on dark forces, with a splash of supernatural power from within. Go Fredrik, tell your brother where he can shove it!Make a life for yourself with being afraid to lose everything around you, like your father and mother before you. Christopher, get your head out of your ass and see what an amazing opportunity has come for you. I want them happy till the end of time. One more to go!
I love this series, and this book I've been holding on too since it came out. finally found it on my Kindle and devoured it.
Chris and Fredrik really pulled me in from the beginning. I loved these two and what they went through as they found their footing, family and place on the pack and their world really pulled at my heart strings. a mustvhavrvif you read Mr. Brandon's-or Mr. Andrew Grey's - books.
This book was so much fun. I loved the sense of humor that the Mother showed in this book with Frederik. I also found it interesting that the Darkness would grant a power that ended up being passed down genetically - I suppose that is why those who have it are encouraged to use it selfishly and thereby give the Darkness greater influence.
I liked it, but the story dragged for a bit, and had a whole magical subplot that I didn't really feel made sense or cared much about. However, I did like how the two characters Frederik and Christopher had to make things work despite a mate bond.
I liked this better than the first, even though the villain and drama were somewhat less. Further exploration of the pack/family, as well as using power for good or ill.
Soweit, so gut?
Frederik is forced to come back home to his pack after his psychotic father, Anton, is killed and his equally psychotic brother takes over the pack. Knowing how badly Frederik wants to finish college, Juneau holds it over his brother’s head, making Frederik stay put and follow his orders. That is until Juneau plans to steal someone’s innocence. Frederik finds a way to overcome his usually shy, self-loathing personality and do what is right, which infuriates his brother.
Christopher has always fallen behind his brother’s shadows, especially Mikael, the pack Alpha. He longs to do something, anything, to help his pack. He requested to be Alpha to one of the crumbling packs, Mikael said he wasn’t ready. He has spent the better part of a year on his own, only interacting with the pack when necessary. All that changes when Frederik shows up to safely return a member of the Old Faithful pack. The two are drawn to each other, but unsure why at first. Accepting that they are mated is easy for Christopher, he has longed for someone to need him. And it’s not the Frederik doesn’t want him, quite the opposite actually, he just feels like the insanity of his family will forever follow him and put the pack in danger.
Through a series of ups and downs, getting to know one another, learning to depend on each other, Christopher and Frederik grow into their bond. The pack comes together to help build a cabin for the mated couple to live in. A few more members of Frederik’s former pack wind up at Old Faithful, accidentally, on purpose, who cares. But when Juneau threatens the pack, Frederik has to make a choice. Walk away from the family and the stability he has with the Old Faithful pack, his mate Christopher. Or stand a fight and risk his brother’s wrath.
I am quite liking this series, how Grey ties in the packs and the wolves with mother nature. The way Mikael leads the pack… he is fierce and determined, and yet he can be gentle and understanding when needed. The Old Faithful pack follow Mikael and Denton without question or fear, for they know their Alpha’s will protect them, care for them and see that they have whatever they need. Then you have the other side of that coin, Frederik’s family. Anton and now Juneau rule with an iron fist, threatening, raping, killing, taking what they want regardless of the cost. It’s no wonder that Frederik fears there is darkness inside him simply because he shares the same DNA with those savages.
The book is fast paced, with lots of action; the storyline and the characters intricately woven together to reveal each new piece at the right time. Christopher and Frederik are loyal to each other from the start. It takes time for them to build a cohesive relationship, but knowing they have each other seems to help them move beyond most of their issues from the past. And they are stronger when they rely on each other. Their chemistry is obvious, the connection evident, so they use that as a foundation.
A must read for anyone that enjoys Shifter and paranormal stories, but it’s pretty passionate and sexy as well. I definitely recommend it, but if you haven’t read Challenge the Darkness yet (book 1) you have to start there, the series must be read in order. It’s well worth a read, I promise.
Darkness Threatening is the second book in the series about the Old Faithful werewolf pack and picks up where Challenge the Darkness left off. Evil Alpha Anton has been dispatched and his many children are trying to find their places in the shattered packs that he left behind. His bully son Juneau has taken Anton’s place as the Dark Wolf and is making everyone’s life more than miserable. When Juneau’s henchmen kidnap fierce beta Catherine’s teenaged daughter off the streets and bring her to Juneau as a prize for him to rape and then destroy, one of Juneau’s brothers, Fredrik, takes it upon himself to kill her guard and take Jane home. Fredrick is confused about who and what he is. He knows he is gay but his thoughts and dreams of the future don’t match with the pack he was raised in. When he arrives at Jane’s home pack, the Old Faithful pack led by the mated pair of alphas Mikael and Denton he is both attracted by the loving community and fearful that he will bring doom down on them from his relationship with is brother. We met Christopher in the first book as he returned home from college but he still hasn’t found his place in the pack and is living in a cave, rootless and restless. Christopher finds that his dreams and plans for the future are not what he expected. I love the continued world building Mr. Greyson expands in the second book of the series. A pack led by two alphas, a goddess with a sense of humor and who is not all powerful, and two werewolves who can’t seem to find their way to each other without causing catastrophe to the entire pack. I absolutely love this book and this series. I was sad when this book was over. not because of the way it ended but because I really wanted it to go on and on. This is one of the best paranormal series I’ve ever read and I highly recommend it.
VIRGINIA REVIEW *********************************** This is awesome story of sacrifice and loyalty. Fredrik wants nothing to do worth his family and their cruelty. When he is unable to pay for his fee at college, he goes home to ask his older half-brother. Fredrick could not stand to see what is going to happen to Jane, that was brought to his brother. Fredrick finally has had enough and helps Jane to get back to her pack. When he meets Alpha Mikael and feels the power he has, he still feels that he must move on before his brother causes more problems for Mikael. What do you do when you smell something so wonderful that it is making you go crazy? What will two wolves do that have stayed on the edge of the pack as they do not fill that they don’t fully belong there. Christopher has been running from the pack and family and letting his wolf control things, until he smells his mate. While Fredrick and Christopher are trying to see where they stand in their mating, they are thrown into a whirl wind of instead parents. When Fredrick finds two twin boys that is related to him, he grows an instance bound with them. The suspense and the steamy heat between the mates is a real page turner. Was hook on this book until the end. Highly Recommend this book and you will enjoy it if you have a love paranormal books
How would you describe the plot of this book? some twist Which of these words best describes the mood? Suspenseful How would you describe the pace? steady How would you describe the characters? developed * I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review *
Let me begin by saying that I loved book one, Challenge the Darkness. This book picks up not long after Challenge ends. Unfortunately for Fredrik, his brother—the new ‘alpha’ is unstable, cruel, and possibly even sicker than his father had been. When he makes the split second decision to rescue a young girl and escape at the same time, Fredrik’s world is turned around and on its ear all at the same time.
The life Christopher wants isn’t working out so well. He’s returned from college, he’s the pack alpha’s brother, things should be smooth sailing… right? Unfortunately, no. He can’t find his way or his place, until the younger brother of the sworn enemy of the pack shows up with their missing pack member.
The writing is smooth, the plot grabs you and won’t let go, and the characters…. The world is rich and fully realized, the characters, both main and secondary, are well developed and thought out, and the logic and reasons for everything are solid. I found myself up half the night, refusing to put the Kindle down until I had devoured every page and then had to go back and reread book 1 just because I wanted to relive the alpha couple’s story thanks to seeing them again so much.
This is a sold and passionate shifter story with bite and love. If you like your romance to have some kick-ass men and to steam up your sheets, then this is the perfect story and series for you. A must read!
Darkness Threatening is book 2 in the Yellowstone Wolves series but can be read as a standalone. This second installment was a bit softer in some aspects and a little darker in others than the first book. Fredrik has been hiding from the evil in his family all his life. When he rescues a young girl he begins to run. What he doesn't expect is to run into his mate Christopher, one of the Alpha's of Yellowstone wolves brother. Things get out of control and it only gets worse when Juneau, Fredrik's brother, catches up to him.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was completely different from the first book where we had 2 alphas fighting it out in the mating dance. Here we have 2 wolves who are lost and don't know their places in a pack also trying to dance around the mating dance. Or at least one of them is, the other is trying to seduce him onto that floor and get him right where they both need to be. The growth of both Christopher and Fredrik is pretty huge. They begin to see who they are and their own potential. As with all of Dirk Greyson's books the attention to detail and his ability to draw a reader into the story is really amazing. I highly recommend this book to any who love a great paranormal romance.
I liked it, but thought the previous book was a little better. This was more a solid 3 stars. Again in this book the couple does not claim each other instantly, but discuss what it would mean for their future. Refreshing! There is hot sex, but not instant claiming. The rest of the book was again reading about a nice and fluffy family who are deeply into The Mother. It almost felt a little too religious for me. There is communication between the fated mates and again an enemy that needs defeating. This time it's Frederik's brother (they are both the son of the enemy from the previous book, I'm guessing that all the evil sons will have to be vanquished in the future). Chris seemed a little whiney/lost in the beginning of the book, but in the end accepts his new (position in) life and family (Frederik and two young twin nephews). By the way: did you see the cover? Now that's what I consider a hot cover.
