Cozy Mystery Annika Weiss runs a very successful spa in New York City. Well, that is to say, she did before some rogue reviewer started leaving terrible feedback for her business on several online review sites. Now her business is tanking and she can’t seem to stop the reviewer. She’s even contacted the sites to let them know the reviews are fake but more just pop up every day.
Then a freak accident leaves a customer dead and when the police find out who the victim is and what she’s been doing Annika becomes the suspect. Things go from bad to worse for Annika and as she struggles to cope with the health department shutting her business down, she has to fight to keep her freedom. Will a little help from a very cute IT guy be enough to keep Annika out of prison? And is all as it appears to be with the death of the rogue reviewer? Only time, and investigation will tell.
Damn, these cozy mysteries are like a bag of potato chips. You know they're bad, you know you're going to regret it, but you gobble up the whole bag anyway...
I have really enjoyed these cozy mysteries by S.Y. Robins. Annika is the proud owner of a spa in New York City. She has been having a string of bad luck lately with someone posting false reviews of her spa on different websites, worrying her because she knows that the claims are false. Most have reported things that have happened on days when the shop is closed. Then, one of her employees goes to check on a customer and finds her dead. Annika can’t figure out what’s going on and when a product is discovered in her spa that she does not supply, her fear intensifies. The police seem to not want to get to the bottom of it, trying to blame her and her spa so Annika decides to take matters into her own hands. The writing is good and I really enjoyed Annika’s character.
