The Care Effect: Unleashing the Power of Compassion

Rate this book
Amazing things happen when individuals and a church, corporately, begin to minister to their neighbor with intentionality, consistency, and passion. The Care Effect beautifully demonstrates how love of neighbor―the second Great Commandment―is essential to gospel proclamation, not incidental to it. Walk the streets of New Orleans with a body of believers as they show love to neighbor. Be inspired to find a way to let your deeds of love be united with words of truth so you too manifest the gospel to your neighbor.

I read this book as a course text for "A Sense of Call to Leadership," a course I'm taking via the Christian Women's Leadership Center through the Woman's Missionary Union. It was really good because it is so strong in encouraging you to re-read what God has told us, Jesus and His love and ministry to everyone, and how we can follow in His footsteps and show His love and share His message with others. At times, it felt like this book was "all over the place" in how he would tell different stories and introduce people and share different explanations, but maybe I have a "worked over" copy, because it was digital, not actual book, and I still was able to completely piece it together, so maybe it was meant to be. But yeah, at times I felt like, "Wait, that would go better with THAT," et cetera. I'm so thankful for all the scriptures I was able to read in the book too, and many references that I could turn to my actual Bible and go read too. It's exciting to read about the ministries of this man's church and read about the will of God being done, and passed on.
