Love is the last thing on seventeen-year-old Megan Devereux's mind. The only thing she wants to focus on is continuing her good grades to get a scholarship so she can leave her stressful home.
She starts having dreams of sharing an intensely, visceral love with Casper Truitt. But in real life, she hates Casper. She wants nothing to do with him, but that doesn't stop him from suddenly paying attention to her, claiming he likes her.
When Megan meets the brooding and handsome Vincent, they start dating and quickly fall in love. But each time they kiss, she sees vivid visions of another time and place.
Consumed by the dreams and visions, Megan’s determined to learn the truth about them, but the more she learns, the more her life is in danger.
Carrigan was born in Cullman, Alabama, but grew up in Birmingham, and moved to Atlanta at 18. She earned her BA in English at Kennesaw State University. For as long as she can remember, she was always making up stories and characters inside her head, sometimes using her dolls to act out the scenes.
When she's not writing (which is rare), she's spending time with her family and friends, listening to music, playing with her sometimes psychotic puppy, or cheering on her Atlanta Braves.
I apologize in advanced for any uncouth language or behavior displayed in my following remarks. My feelings are a little mixed when it comes to this book. And when I say a little, I mean a lot.
My first words upon finishing were none other than, “What the hell?” I couldn’t help but blurt it out loud.
The beginning of the book left a bitter taste in my mouth. The fancifulness and ridiculous swooning nature of the protagonist, Megan, recalled my memories of my own fanciful, ridiculous self in high school, a part of my life that I’d rather forget. Unfortunately, I related all too well with Megan’s overthinking of romantic dreams and looks from a cute guy.
Megan is just your average school girl, dying to get out of high school and move away to college. She begins having intense, romantic dreams of Casper, the most popular and desired boy in school. But in reality, she hates Casper. As her visions and dreams continue, she becomes more consumed and closer to the truth of what her dreams mean.
My first real issue with the book stemmed from it being marketed as a YA Fantasy. I would classify the book as a paranormal romance with some fantastical elements because aside from some dates, kisses, text messages, and dreams of a sexual awakening nature almost nothing happens in the book till the last few chapters. And of course, there was a love triangle. It wouldn’t be a proper paranormal love affair without a love triangle. The romance was fairly predictable. The combination of gushiness and embarrassing memories made me nauseous.
But my morbid curiosity spurred me to keep reading.
At least Casper and Megan actually had chemistry, which is more than I can say for other books I’ve read recently (still a better romance than Twilight). Also, I appreciated that the abusive, unhealthy relationship in the love triangle was at least portrayed as just that: abusive and unhealthy! What a breath of fresh air after the disturbing trend of modern fiction glamorizing manipulation and maltreatment.
As I said earlier, I felt a serious lack of action throughout the book, up until the ending, where the plot took a serious turn. Not a completely unexpected turn, but a major turn nevertheless. It was gripping, it was exciting, and with so little time left in the book, I was wondering how it would ever be resolved.
The short answer? It didn’t. Which thoroughly angered me. But at least it got an emotional reaction. We end on a complete cliff hanger to set up the sequel, which I don’t know if I’ll read or not.
Like I said, I have mixed feelings. I will say though that Carrigan Richards does have great technical skills as a writer, and I will be sampling another one of her books.

From the beginning, I was pleasantly surprised; I cannot say enough good words about this book. I am not much on the "fantasy" genre of romance, but I am finding more and more authors who are more engrossed in the story's romance than in the fantasy itself. Megan and Casper's story is so beautifully written, not just enemies to friends to lovers, but to see how people manipulate others into thinking what is further from the truth. Megan and Casper are strong characters, who come together to fight hard obstacles. From the moment Vincent was in the story and wanted Megan to get far away from him, not closer. I had feelings because Vincent reminded me of someone that I know. However, people can only see what is happening at the right time. The passion between these two was sweet and very realistic, and I am itching to have the next book! I know this is a trilogy, but I have to get the next one, and I cannot wait to read it!

I really enjoyed this story. Casper and Megan have a rough start and seem to really hate each other. Vincent is the charming one always seeming to be nice to Megan till he begins to have a jealous streak. Casper and Megan have some strange dreams that seem to pull them together while ripping apart Vincent and Megan. As the story progresses we come to see what their truths are and why they have dreams. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!!
this was wonderfully written, it was a great start to the January Dreams series. It had a great mystery setting and did what I was hoping for, the plot does a good job in telling the story. I was invested in the characters and getting through this world. I look forward to read more in this universe.

This book was so good I finished it in 2 days because I could not put it down! The story is so beautifully written and draws you in from the beginning. A total page turner as you come to love the characters more and more. I didn't want it to end! Can't wait to finish the series.
A fun cast of characters. You will love the people and the action and the adventure. In this book .. wait! I am not going to spoil it. Read the series and enjoy! I recommend.

This was a strange story , I didn't care for it at all in the beginning! That being said, the story kept me reading, I wanted to know what happened! I'm going to read book 2 and hopefully get some answers.
Okay, so first of all, this book needed a little bit more editing. Usually, I can ignore whatever mistakes that make it into the final printing of a book, but there were times that this one had too many for me to ignore, so that's what's keeping me from giving a four star rating. From what I can tell, though, the book seems to be either self-published, or published by a small company, so I'm not holding it against the book. The story was good, and it did get better further along. In the first half, got a little iffy for me, because in the "present" time, the same things were happening over and over. Which got kinda boring. However, the second half or so focused more on the "past", which I liked a lot better. I'd like to read about that more, get more background earlier on. I've also got mixed feeling a little bit about the ending. It sets it up so that there has to be another book (possibly more exciting than this one), and switches over to Casper's point of view for the last chapter. I'm into that. In the next book, I'd like to see more from Casper's point of view, and maybe some from Vincent's, too. I think that would make the story more engaging. Note: I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways.
Megan isn't looking for love. She is determined to do well in school so she can get away from her stressful home.
When Megan starts to have dreams of shared life with a classmate, she is surprised. Casper is an arrogant jerk and she doesn't know why she would be having intense and personal dreams about him. Casper suddenly begins to pay attention to Megan and confesses that he has feelings for her.
Megan meets Vincent. The nice, shy boy that seems to like her instantly. They quickly fall in love, but things are a little more complicated than they first seem. During their kisses, Megan sees a life from the past where she is in love with Vincent.
The dream life and the life of her visions seem to conflict with each other. She wants to learn more about both lives, but as she does her life seems to be in more danger.
I'm not sure whether to label this as a fantasy or paranormal. I think it depends how the rest of the series of books goes.

I absolutely enjoyed this book so much! The story’s timeline flowed super easily. The love triangle was actually done really well (although I was always Team Casper!!) I loved how in the beginning the dreams were super confusing to read, but slowly everything pieced together. The characters are super easy to like, and relatable! The book was really fast paced, and I got through it quickly. I would recommend this book to anyone, who likes a book with things like dreams, time, mystery, and in the ending answers. BUT THE ENDING-
I loved this book! It's so different Carrigan's other books but just as amazing. This story takes us on a journey to solve the mystery of why two very different teens are having the same dreams. The characters are likeable and relatable. You're going to fall in love with at least one of them. There is suspense, mystery, action and even some romance. You won't be able to put it down. With an ending you'll never see coming. I highly recommend this book
