Thirteen...
Unlucky for some.
Including me.

The woman I loved left me on the thirteenth.
Thirteen months of living together and she walked out the door without looking back, straight into another man's arms.
She was kind enough to leave something to remind me of her: thirteen thousand pounds worth of debt.

Thirteen; the day I lost my nuts.
Well, I didn't lose them, cancer took them from me. Better to be a man without balls than one without life.
Still, thirteen sucked... until it didn't.

Until her.
Thirteen might just be my new lucky number.

*Thirteen is book #4 in the 'Love by Numbers' series. It is interconnected but can be read as a standalone.*

USA Today Bestselling Author, ES Carter, lives in Cardiff, South Wales. The home of castles, dragons and folklore.
Her family joke that she was born with a book in her hand, and the urge to write stories soon followed.
At eleven, she won her school's literary prize. At ages fourteen to sixteen - her poetry phase after falling in love with Dylan Thomas and e.e. cummings - she had a few poems published, but life, love and family overtook her dreams, and she was in her thirties when she began the scary journey of self-publishing.
Her debut and internationally best-selling series, 'Love by Numbers', are a set of interconnected stand alone romances, all with varying themes of love. From second-chance to romantic comedy and M/M romance. These stories do not need to be read in order, in fact, she is often guilty of advising readers to start at the last book and work their way back through.
Contemporary romance is not the only genre she writes, her second series, 'The Red Order', is as dark and twisted as you can get, but there is beauty there too if you can open your eyes and look.
With many more stories bursting to be set free, she hopes you stay along for the ride.

Thirteen is book four in the Love by Numbers series by E.S. Carter. This is Harry’s story, Jake Fox’s best friend but more of a brother to all of the Fox brothers. This one is a little more light hearted than the other books in this series. It can definitely be read as a stand alone but all of the Fox brothers are present in this book and you would enjoy them more if you know their stories.

Harry David Brown, otherwise known as “H,” is Jake’s best friend. Jake the movie star, the sexiest man alive! H has had a string of bad luck, all associated with the number thirteen. He is now cancer free, but also car free and apartment free and job free. What he is not free of is debt, thanks to his ex-girlfriend. On the day that H is volunteering at Josh’s school, it seems like his luck just might be about to change when he sees her. The woman getting out of her muscle car wearing a bunny suit. He couldn’t tear his eyes away.

woman in easter bunny costume

Delilah Chastity Tremere or Lilah, is a Physiotherapist who lost a bet and is playing bunny to a bunch of children when she saw the huge, attractive man getting out of the tiny, ridiculous banana yellow car. Lilah has also had a string of bad luck, including getting out of a disastrous marriage. This is the first time in a long time she’s felt an attraction to anyone.

ornery goats

Lilah and H embark on a string of hilarious sort of dates as they get to know each other. They share their quirky sense of humors. But they share so much more as well. When Harry looks at her, he only sees her, a sexy, beautiful, perfect woman.

“I’ve waited my whole life to be someone’s extraordinary.”

Lilah’s past isn’t ready to let her go yet, though, in more ways than one. But, Harry knows that Lilah just might be “the one!” And he’s not backing down. He plans to stick by her no matter what the universe decides to throw at them. Because he already thinks of her as his!

“My Lilah. My Bunny Girl.”

I loved this one. I had met Harry in the other books but didn’t know him well. He always seemed like a jokester. But there is so much more to him. He and Lilah clearly were meant to be from the start. I loved Lilah’s strength. She had been through so much. I also loved the relationship between Harry and the Fox brothers. They clearly were so much more than just buddies. They had each other’s backs!

The next book in the series entitled One, is Isaac Fox and Flynn’s story. I have to confess that I have already read this book because I read the series out of order, and believe me when I say, you’re not going to want to miss it. I love this series so much and I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next!

“Thirteen…unlucky for some, but not me.”

‘Man spontaneously combusts from sexual deprivation in the backseat of a cab.’

We love this Author and all her characters who’ve become like friends and family to us now after a huge binge read. We’d already read Three but wanted to read Nineteen and Twenty-One before embarking on Thirteen. Confused by numbers? We were too but the reading order can be found in this post. We’d recommend reading this series in order to get the most out of it and you definitely won’t regret it. We have become so attached to the characters and hearing their individual stories has been fabulous yet so is catching up with the rest of them.

,i>“I understand wanting to just be…you. Not a lesser version of yourself, or the you that you wish to be, but the you that makes you…whole, normal even.”

This is H’s story – Harry with the big heart, the wicked sense of humour and the gentle soul. We couldn’t wait to hear his voice and find out just who could possibly measure up and deserve to win that heart of gold. Harry’s been a constant in the Fox family and has always been there for his friends whom he consider his ‘chosen family’. This time it’s them who have to step up to the plate when Harry is dealt some devastating blows. We do have to give a shout out to Harry’s Mum though because she’s a fabulous Lady who clearly passed on her fantastic sense of humour to her son.

‘I’m H, funny guy, happy-go-lucky, banter king and source of fun. Not H, the pissy, get your own drink, sour faced bastard, who calls his friends shitty names.’

After going through the rounds Harry’s not the same joking jovial self and we can’t blame him. If we could we would’ve jumped into our kindles to hug him. He’s been through the ringer and has lost his happy-go-lucky self somewhere in the process. His mates see it and we see the change in him too. Enter Delilah, the quirky, sweet and funny bunny.

‘Me and my Davidson wanted to tango all night long with her. I really should get out more; watching Strictly Come Dancing with my folks on a Saturday night has got me using dance terms as a euphemism for sex. I look down at my Davidson and shake my head. “We will fuck again, my son. No tango shite for us.” Yes. That feels more manly.’

We fell in complete love with Lilah, she too has not had it easy and is fighting her own demons. We could tell immediately that they were two sides of the same coin and that each would in some way save the other. We wanted Harry back and for Lilah to feel safe and loved.

‘Broken. Defective. Weak. All words I’ve felt about myself over the last year or so, but never with Lilah. I’ve never felt those things when I’m with her. Whole. Connected. Complete. That’s how being with Lilah makes me feel. Now I need to make her feel it too.’

We enjoyed this story and it was great to catch up with the rest of the crew and like we said, you’ll find yourselves feeling part of one sexy, funny and loving family! We are counting the days to get Isaac’s story!!!!

Extremely addictive and a real page turner. Eli Carter has done it again! This beautiful, funny. slightly scary at times story, moves this wonderful series on to Harry and Delilah.

Harry is getting over a major change in his life and because of it, he's lost his mojo.
Delilah has also had to deal with a life changing experience, although she's been coping with it from a very early age.

Both have suffered living with partners who just don't give as much as they take, although poor Lilah has had to cope with more than just neglect. I won't spoil it, but her past is not a happy one. Enter Harry. God, I love this man, yet I didn't realise how much until I read his story. He is a real knight in shining armour, not just to Lilah but also her twin. Yes, Harry is involved with twins. Every man's dream of course, but Harry has eyes for only one woman. I am literally swooning over this man!

I love this series. I love the characters and how they have grown with each book. I also love the easy flow in which this author writes. Nobody, but nobody writes "bloke" the way Eli Carter can. I've said it before and I'll say it again. There's an element of my husband 15 years ago in these boys. A real charmer but one of the boys. I think that's why I can relate to these characters and laugh my head off at some of their banter.

I can not praise this story highly enough. You don't need to read the previous books. You could read this as a standalone but why the hell would you want to when the whole series is just brilliant. Ms Carter is a wordsmith. Plain and simple.

"Friday the thir-f*ing-teenth. Unlucky for some. Including me."

Thirteen by E.S. Carter is an absolutely beautiful and touching story laced throughout with tons of humor. Harry Brown has lost a part of himself and is feeling like less than a man, Delilah Tremere is trying to stand on her own after a marriage that has left her feeling like less than a woman.

“Lilah didn’t cope, she excelled. Life gave her lemons, and she said ‘F* the lemonade, pass me Tequila and some salt.’"

From their very first meeting that involved a banana-mobile and a bunny head, you know that H has met his match in Lilah, a strong and vibrant heroine. I fell in love with Lilah as much as with H. As one bad date leads to another, their chemistry cannot be denied.

"I take what is now mine.
As she gives me all that she is.
As we share what we both have.
Two halves that seem broken but together repair."

I adored every word in this lovely story that on one page broke my heart then on the next would have me laughing out loud. A tale of the resilience of body and spirit. I was lifted up.
Thirteen is part of the Love by the Numbers series of stories with interconnecting characters and could be read as a standalone.

5 STARS!!!!!!!

A couple of months ago, I was introduced to E.S Carter’s novels. It was a match made in heaven. Thirteen, her latest novel, is no exception. Recently, I had been in a book funk and Thirteen pulled me right out.

So, what had me laughing into my kindle at 1am this morning? This novel! Where...

Harry has spent the last year in a shadow of his former sense of self. After a messy divorce that robbed him of his house, car and savings, he also had to face his toughest battle yet. Overcoming testicular Cancer. Now in remission, he is slowly becoming the man he once was. The man, his family hope will snap back into smartarse self.

“I’m H, funny guy, happy-go-lucky, banter king and source of fun.”

Instead, this playful persona is replaced with “fake smiles” and “the pissy, get your own drink sour faced bastard, who calls his friends … names.” While out with his friends one night, his friend Josh asks him to help at the school fundraiser, where the broody Harry, acknowledges, he’d “rather put (his) todger through a meat grinder.” Without a ready-made excuse to avoid it, he reluctantly accepts to please his friend.

It is at this school fete where he’s instantly mesmerised by a beautiful woman parked beside him, who he notices is dressed … in an enormous bunny costume. From there, his curiosity becomes the better of him as this mysterious girl has a way of making him reawaken, a girl who makes him feel, “Fifteen again.”

Within the first few pages of Thirteen, E.S Carter was able to take hold of my attention, plunging me into a narrative of highly entertaining dialogue. Her characterisation is poetic, yet sharp. As readers, we find ourselves enraptured by each encounter, as Harry and Lilah delve into a confusing world where wanting to feel whole again, is almost obsolete.

While on one hand, I giggled through a vast array of superb humour, on the other, I clutched my kindle in compassion for the two broken souls, deeply in need of finding that special someone to make them feel less broken, and whole. Thirteen held deeply evocative and moving ideals of the characters in the palm of our hands while reminding us how valuable it was to feel complete. I wanted them to find that sense of wonderment and fulfilment in each other that they desperately wanted.

“I’ve waited my whole life to be someone’s extraordinary.”

E.S Carter is a phenomenal writer and I urge you to consider reading Thirteen.

Thirteen by E.S. Carter is absolutely phenomenal ! I'm talking steel your heart, make you laugh until it hurts, and having you begging for more phenomenal !!!

Harry Brown is facing a life after one of the biggest scares and obstacles he's ever had to face. And he's none to prepared for the force that is Delilah Tremere to come into his life.

The thing is, Delilah is a warrior herself and knows after all she's been through she'll never settle for anything less than extraordinary again.

The big question is, can H be the extraordinary Lilah needs, or will he turn away from what some view as her imperfections.

Carter has a gift of capturing her readers hearts, making us beg for an HEA, while still weaving in pure emotions so raw that you feel them to your core. I laughed, I got teary eyed, and most of all I cheered for these two amazing warriors to prove that they had what it takes to make thirteen a lucky number.

I haven't read a book in so long that warmed my heart but also had my laughing so hard I almost peed myself.

The banter between Harry and Lilah was outstanding and it just shows you can be going through some of the hardest times in your life but with the right person, the kind of laughter that hurts your belly and makes you cry with joy can still happen.

The connection between these 2 is something else and it's seen from early on but like always life likes to throw those curve balls in the mix and sometimes it makes you buckle in to weather the storm.

I love Es Carters writing, she always get it on point the exact emotion she felt when writing I feel it when I'm reading her books.
Another fabulous read Eli super proud.

I love E.S. Carter's writing. It's fresh, sexy and real. I loved the Fox brothers from her previous books and, whilst H is a little different to them, I loved him just as much. He has that boy next door quality that I don't read about often. I really enjoyed his sense of humour and how he dealt with every situation. The chemistry with his bunny girl is fantastic and I couldn't stop turning the pages. Another triumph in the Love by Numbers series. As always, looking forward to the next.

“You took my breath that very first day, and I don’t want it back; I finally have air in my lungs, because of you.”

Y'all, this book is proof that you don't have to have endless angst, heartbreaking twist after heart-rendering turn and a series of painful gut punches to make a nearly flawless romance novel.

All you need is Harry David Brown and Delilah Chastity Tremere.

Several weeks ago, a friend of mine recommended a book to me. That book was One. I really enjoyed, and agreed that yes, this author was someone I’d like to read more from. Cut to now, and I've just finished Thirteen, the fourth book in the Love by Numbers series and my second by E.S. Carter…

Not my last. Not even close to my last. I'm filled with this urge to know more about these characters, to experience Ms. Carter’s absolutely delightful writing, cheeky humor and completely adorable romance. Harry and Delilah are—ugh, I'm not sure I have the right word. Cute, yes. Likable, hell yes. So playful and flirty and sweet, but laced with an undercurrent of brokenness that just makes you want to dole out hugs left and right? Abso-freakin’-lutely.

Thirteen is the day of my birth, and a lucky number for me. And it's proved itself once again with this namesake book. I feel lucky to have read it; to have a friend who wants to share the words that she fell in love with, so that I can fall in love with them, too. And I know that—with just the right amount of tension, just the right amount of heartbreak and just the right amount of perfectly swoony love—I would give this book Thirteen stars, if I could. Five will have to suffice for now, but luckily, this nearly flawless book earned Every. Single. One.

Thirteen might be unlucky for some, hell, it’s always been unlucky for me but now it’s brought me to her and I’m the luckiest bastard alive.

~ FIVE STARS ~

It's been a very long time since I have read a book that has made me laugh hysterically! Thirteen was brilliantly funny while still retaining that unique quality that E.S. Carter has - that bit of a magical touch that keeps the readers engrossed with her amazing story whether it be happy, sad, or a priceless story that puts a permanent grin on your face.

We knew H was the funny jokester of the group. But these days his jokes are nothing more than a blanket to cover up the true feelings he has. After his surgery to remove what essentially makes him a man, his dating life, and life in general, have taken a turn for the worse. He's sad, angry, and not himself. He may be present but he's lost in the past. But that's all about to change when he helps one of the foxy Fox's and meets Bunny Girl!

Delilah is so fun and quirky and just downright awesome. Her goal: to remove the sadness from H's eyes. From the get go, her humor-filled prowess is enough to rival that of H and it's what finally gets him loving again! And in doing so, her too. Thus begins a series of silly and irresistibly adorable dates. You see, she too has lost a part of herself, figuratively and literally. Not to mention the super devilish ex from hell that seems to plague her life.

What I love most in this book, while making me laugh throughout, is such a beautiful story of two people who were mentally (and yes, physically) not whole who unknowingly forged a bond so strong and tight that they fixed each other. Yes they have to fight for that glimmer of hope that they keep at a distance and hide from. Yes they have to face the unfathomable truth of Delilah's past. But it's all worth it in the end to see H finally get his true happy ever after!

This book made me laugh, it made me sad and happy, gave me super sweet tingles, and I might have gotten a bit teary-eyed in some of the more serious parts. But most importantly, it put one of be biggest smiles on my face knowing one of my most favorite characters of all finally got his well deserved HEA! Thank you E.S. Carter for writing this amazing story because I'm about to go read it again and again. I don't want this smile to go away any time soon!

***possible spoiler(ish)***

I adored this book. I'm going to say it... Thirteen is my favourite of the Love By Numbers books so far!!
My favourite thing about it is the humour but also the moments where you can feel the love between Lilah and H. There's some serious chemistry there! And I adore the connection they have, both how they feel about each other and also the fact that they've both lost a major part of themselves but don't let it determine how they live their lives. These two are very strong characters and are perfect for each other. H definitely met his match when he met his Bunny Girl!!
And there's a new girl on the block, I dare you not to love her!!
Eli is going from strength to strength and I can't wait for Isaac's story =)

Oh how I adored this book! H stole my heart from page one and I don't ever want it back. My weakness is funny guys with big hearts and H has all that and more. Bunny Girl aka Lilah was the perfect match for him. Seriously I couldn't have written a better leading lady than her. Her spunk and charisma had me smitten from her first line and I adored seeing the development of their relationship. I laughed, shed a couple tears & smiled throughout the story. I couldn't get enough & by the end I was sad to see it end. H & Lilah will always have a special place in my literary heart & I can't wait to visit them again. 5 stars!

"I should never give my love to anyone who makes me feel ordinary. I've waited my whole life to be someone's extraordinary."

And that's all that should be needed to describe this book: an extraordinary love story between two broken people who together find the strength to love again.

Thirteen is the story of Harry aka H, whom we had the pleasure to meet in Nineteen. He's Jake's best friend, the one who's always by his side through thick and thin, without expecting anything in return. When the unimaginable happens, and H is faced with a tough decision he does it in his own style - through humor and good times. What he didn't expect was for this one girl to put a spell on him and slowly and steadily bring him back to his old self. This girl is Lilah aka 'Bunny Girl'. She's one of the best heroines I've had the pleasure to read about.Lilah is a heroic leading lady, one who could easily take one some of the best heroines in the romance world. No matter what life there her way she always fought for what she wanted and never felt sorry for herself; being normal is overrated anyway.

Their relationship was incredible from the get go. The meet cute was unique and I was rooting for them from that point on. Seeing H and Lilah let go of their inhibitions and experience life at its fullest was one of the best reading experiences.

That's all il give you about the plot as it's not something I want to spoil for others. The most important thing, IMO, is that with each book you can tell that Es Carter's writing is improving. She's unleashing her inner goddess and gives us some of the best emotional romances out there. Add the mystery elements and the humorous components and her books are becoming more and more addictive with each passing number.

Thirteen is definitely a must read. H for me is more than a book BF; I've been a fan of his since book 1, he's been my 'lover', clown and addiction for almost a year now and I'm willing to share is awesomeness with others. Anyone needs a little spice and sugar in their lives, and trust me, Harry gives that in spades.

Bring on Isaac!!!!

I absolutely adored this book! I have grown more fond of the characters and the bond of true friendship with each book in this series. This book perfectly captured taking series struggles and living life with humor, grace, kindness and love. It completely captured how I would picture a friend with Harry's personality persevering. Delilah has had some horrific struggles in life, yet she is full of life. I love the strength she uses to get through what life has thrown at her. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

If you have read the previous Love By Numbers books you will already be aware of Harry, Jake's best friend, and his sarcastic, self deprecating humour.

Harry has suffered, his heart and bank balance were broken by his previous girlfriend, and his confidence has taken a bit of a knock with the loss of the accessories to his Davidson. What it hasn't taken is his sense of humour. Everyone needs a Harry in their life, he would make the BEST friend.

I love the humour in this book, the first meeting between Lilah and Harry is hilarious, and only gets more so when she takes him for a spin and a drink! Despite her own losses, Lilah is spunky, feisty and fun and exactly what Harry needs, she is his perfect match.

This is a story of love between two people, slightly damaged but never broken. You will laugh and love along with them throughout the highs and lows of their story.

Love this author hard. Didn’t love this book.

I liked the character of H in the previous books in the series. Funny guy. I was gutted when he had his cancer diagnosis and what it would mean for his future.

He meets bunny girl Delilah, not a playboy bunny, a girl wearing a bunny outfit! She has her own body issues and a violent ex - his story morphs into something that comes left field and it felt unnecessary. Like it was thrown in but had no bearing on anything before it or after it and was nothing at all to do with the plot.

It didn’t grab me but I felt the need to get to the end.

I will forever love goats.

Last month I’ve read my first book by E.S. Carter – Three – and I loved it. A certain scene from that book still puts a smile on my face; the very funny kitchen conversation between Harry and Liam’s parents. Thirteen tells his sweet and hilarious story.
“It all comes rushing back to me. Friday the 13th. Hospital. Operation. No more nuts. Fuck. I think I preferred the thought of being a sex pony. Friday the thir-fucking-teenth. Unlucky for some. Including me.”

Harry ‘H’ hasn’t been lucky in love; left by his greedy girlfriend and since his operation all of his dates have been disastrous. But luckily he gets to spend a lot of time with his best friends, the Fox brothers, entertaining them with his crazy antics. Harry is all about jokes and banter, but behind the fun he hides his sadness and insecurities. Meeting Delilah throws him off his game, finally he has found his match.
“Coffee?” I tilt my head in mock confusion, and that blush reappears on his cheeks. “No, it was…” “Mustangs? Bunny fetishes?” His eyes go wide, and I can’t help the laugh that slips free, “I’m just messing with you. Tell me, H. Are you always this easy to rattle?”

Delilah ‘Lilah’ is a survivor. She has survived a horrible disease as a young child, leaving her with a permanent reminder. When she was told during her teenage years she couldn’t do something, she gave it her all to prove the people wrong, leading her to a disastrous marriage. Nowadays she lives with her twin sister, loves her job and spends time with friends. When she sees Harry for the first time all she wants is to make him laugh.
“I blink rapidly, relieved I didn’t choose that option. “I haven’t got a clue what you’re talking about.” “Or the strip joint on the high street?” I shake my head quickly, “No, I’ve never been there before. I didn’t even know there is a strip joint in town.” I lie unconvincingly. “Naked massage?” Who the fuck is this girl and how is she in my brain?”

Knowing Harry from the previous book, knowing how inappropriate he can be, he has met his equal in Delilah. The banter, text messages and ‘payback’ dates between them are hilarious. Both have been in relationships before, but they recognize the growing attraction between them. They form a friendship, and slowly work to something much more. Due to her marriage Delilah is somewhat insecure about her body, but Harry proves he can be the man for her.

Thirteen is a sweet and funny read. From early on you know that Harry and Delilah are meant to be together, they have a serious situation to work through, but there isn’t angst, no question of them not being together. Besides the developing relation between Harry and Delilah, I love the bond she shares with her twin sister Nicola. I really hope E.S. Carter will write a short story about her and her Doctor Hottie.
“He rests his forehead against mine, and whispers, “How did I get so lucky to not only find you but get to keep you? My lucky number thirteen.” I place my hands on both sides of his face and pull his lips to mine, “Because luck has nothing to do with it. You see what others don’t, and in this life, you get what you give.”

I’ve enjoyed reading Thirteen, most parts put one big smile on my face. I give this story 4.5 stars.

“I’ve been abducted by a sex-trafficking ring.”

Okay not really. But if you’ve every woken up in recovery after major surgery, it is pretty much an unnerving process wondering where you are and how you got there. Now this has nothing to do with Harry and Lilah’s story, but that quote is in the start of the prologue, that’s the funny you’ll be in for with Thirteen. ES Carter is one of my recent author finds. Starting with her debut book, Nineteen, I’ve had the opportunity to watch this exceptional writing talent grow.

“I take one last look at her soft curves, perfect tits and firm arse and close my eyes to imprint the memory on my brain.”

I mean really, who wouldn’t love a man who looks at you and think of you that way. Harry is the ultimate book boyfriend. He is kind, funny, giving- in and out of bed. If you have had the opportunity to previous Love by Numbers books, you know what a perfect best friend Harry is. If you haven’t read any of the series, that’s okay this one stands alone. However, you’ll really, really want to read the others. And Lilah, what a strong female lead. Her story (and her twin) amazing and you want to give them huge sws’ Okay that’s all I’m going to give you. Just buy the book. You need the story to unfold for yourself. Anything I tell you will spoil it. Storyline is strong and rhythmic in its flow. You’ll laugh and giggle and fall a little bit more in love with the whole gang. 5 out of 5 “why are you still reading my review and not reading the story” stars

PS: I’ve been asked to write this review in exchange to allow the author to write her next book, ONE, in peace and quiet. Now we know this is impossible for me to do, but I’ve written my review anyways. I will still post to her author wall to hurry up. #impatiently waiting for Iz’s book for awhile now. ;)

OMG OMG OMG!!!! I LOVE H!!

This book is so good!! If you’ve already had the pleasure of starting the numbers series then you’ve already met H.

Okay…so at the end of Twenty-One H had to have a little operation, in Thirteen we see H recovered and ready to rock and roll again, but he’s been a little subdued and depressed. Until one day he meets a giant bunny in the school car park that goes by the name Delilah. From that day forward he’s determined to find out more about the giant bunny girl!

“You’re it for me Lils and I hope you feel the same way. I want my entire future to be with you.”

Lilah, is full of life, even with her own secrets. When she meets H she’s determined to live life to it’s fullest even if there’s hurdles to get over.

“We may have both lost a fundamental part of us, but we’ve still got the most important one, our hearts and right now, Harry David and I don’t want it back.”

This book will have you crying with laughter at the antics that H and Lilah get up to on their dates…and of course we get the Fox clan too. In true ES Carter style, we also get some seriousness too in the shape of an abusive ex.

“How did I get so lucky to not only find you but get to keep you? My lucky number THIRTEEN!”

On the whole if you’re looking for a light hearted, funny, addictive read, then this is the book for you. Once I started this book I just couldn’t put it down…I needed as much of H as I could get but I know it won’t be enough!

So grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and settle down with H and Lilah because this is one of the funniest books of the year and GO NUTS FOR H!

5 funny and additive stars!!

My oh my, I think my heart was stolen by H.

When I think of the 13th, I think of Friday, and that is just bad luck for me. But not when I have met H.

So ladies, get ready for your hearts to be stolen by him. Because it is time to #GoNutsforH

At first, I didn't understand these hashtags but now I do and clever, E. Very Clever. Now I even now your weird and morbid fantasy of goats too and yes, they are indeed the craziest and evilest animals ever even if they are the cutest an stinkiest things that I have encountered. ;) I got your back. Especially since one of them trie to eat a shirt of mine.

Anyways, back to the story. This was the first book I read of the Love by Numbers series and damn it, I want more of it. More. More. More. And more. There can never be enough E and you better start planning on writing from your grave because when you are long gone, you need to bring more work into my life. Kay? :) That sounds really morbid now that I am reading back on it.

Thirteen made my heart stop beating for thirteen beats.

The characters were so dark and yet so perfect. Damaged and yet fixed. They were each other's extra someone and I hope that there is a romance out there that I can find and call it my own. Darkly enough, I loved this HEA.

Thirteen is a wonderful story! ES Carter continues to write books with amazing characters who show amazing courage, strong capacities to care and love and even stronger abilities to persevere. Beautifully written, I thoroughly enjoyed the humor as well as the emotion. Loved Lilah and Henry's characters. Their story was all about strength and fortitude, they each had to overcome issues that are complicated yet, they find each other and helped to heal each other. Nothing is perfect, but Lilah and Henry are pretty close! I highly recommend Thirteen, absolutely 5⭐️'s!

Es Carter does it again and gives us yet another fab read for the numbers series.. if I could give this book 13 stars I would have!

Now I love those Fox brothers so much but H's story was the one I really was looking forward to and it was just as fantastic as I thought it would be!!!
H is just such a great guy.. hes hot.. kind.. loveable.. dependable and above all else he is funny as hell. What else could you want?
But when life gave him a kick in the ba%!s he just wasnt the same man as before.. until Bunny Girl showed up and his world was changed forever!
Both "flawed" and not "perfect" this couple show the true meaning of what it really means to adore someone.. proving that everyone deserves love and a happy eve after.
Beautifully written storyline.

*** ARC given by the author for an honest review. ***

4.5 stars!
This my first book by ES Carter and I was pleasantly surprised. This story will warm your heart, even through the hardest times.
The writing was really great, with a sizzling chemistry between the main characters. I laughed, sensed the characters' pain and sadness, but mostly smiled.
Thirteen, isn't a unlucky number, definitely not!

Review to come!

******************************

I was really intrigued by the blurb, about this guy who went through so much, a following bad luck circumstances leading to the number thirteen.

How a guy could endure so much? How in his bad luck could be make it?

By sarcasm and tons of humor! The tone of the book surprised me, totally unexpected. No self pity or depressing mood, just an amazing story about two broken people, through their differences make it together.

Attractive young woman posing leaning on convertible car at sunset

Harry endured so much in his life. All those events made him insecure, feeling less than a man trying to find a balance in his life. Unsuccessfully. He’s kinda lost and was hiding his sorrow and pain by his playful, joyful behavior.

Shirtless sexy male model lying alone on his bed

Delilah was also hit hard by life, by her condition and also her divorce. Deeply affected by her past, she was also acting. Hiding it all, not showing any weakness, because she couldn't let anyone seeing it. Until a guy named Harry with a banana mobile came into her life, making her swoon and hot!

The two of them? Sparks will fly! They made such an endearing couple, getting together by fate, like these two destined to meet after experiencing the bad. Harry was a perfect guy to woo Delilah, to show how beautiful she was, no matter what. They were each other’s reflexion, with a challenging banter, trying to ease the pain and sadness.

Young beautiful pair of lovers hug and kiss

And for once, these two lovebirds got it bad so quickly, that the situation might be insane, leading to some hilarious and sweet moments. They were each other missing piece,  the author managed well how to get the two of them into this crazy adventure, writing a new chapter in their lives.

Of course, nothing is easy and each other was scared to show their true colors, especially Delilah. She was the strong, toughest girl Harry had to meet, but even in their hardest and darkest times, them had each other’s back. As friends but mostly as lovers.

A banter off the charts, a chemistry like no one else, a terrific story written with sensibility, full of laughter, a few poignant moments and a great storyline. Finding love is possible for anyone, even for those who didn’t believe in it.

Thirteen isn’t a bad number after all! Trust me, it was so worth it!

My face hurts from smiling, laughing and swooning so much! Loved it!

13 ways to lose your soul and 13 H and Bunny Stars

#NutsforH #13ismynumber
ES Carter stole my heart with Nineteen, Twenty-One and then Three. I have not wanted to recover from the love and now with Harry’s story she has completely stolen my soul. YEP. I am soulless at the moment. I could actually feel a little bit of my soul getting ensnared in her soul grabbing jar. *squeee* But I don’t want it back, she can keep me in her jar full of souls forever. *heart bubbles in the air*

I have adored Harry since he appeared in the Love by Number series. He is the perfectly dorky, funny yet yummilicious best friend/brother of swoony Jake Fox. H’s sense of humor and uncanny ability to lighten up any situation made me love him more. To date he is possibly the funniest BBF that I have.

Thirteen starts off with H waking up after his surgery, yet again when the situation is grim he is able to make me giggle. I adore this MAN so much; I could kidnap him and keep him for myself. He does it every time, when you’re on the verge of tears; he does or says something to make you forget the sadness. *swooon*

Then he narrated his date with Mr. Puss Puss and I was literally clutching my tummy cos it hurt from laughing so much. How his Davidson survived the vicious attack was beyond me? After that what ensues is possibly one of the sweetest yet heartbreaking stories in the entire history of my book-reading. H’s story with his Bunny-Girl has made me swoon, fall in love, lose my soul, giggle until my side hurt and left me wanting more. Bunny-Girl! Sigh. She is my hero. She and H were perfect for each other. Her story made me want to rage at fate for being so unfair. Yet her zest for life made me swoon for her. Yeppers. I have a girl-crush on my Bunny-Girl.

As I read on, H and Bunny-Girl’s dates made me laugh, the whole goat from hell was THE most hilarious thing I’ve read; I had a smile on my face most of the time. But what left me breathless were their quiet moments, it made me swoon. The story is irresistibly sweet and amazing with a touch of hilarity and liberal amounts of swoon. And then there was the epic douchebagery-ness of Wayne and I was on the verge of swinging my baseball bat at him. H and Bunny-girl’s love for each other outshone over all other aspect in the story. The light blinds you with its brightness and transcends over everything, all things, yet life isn’t fair, life is full of douchebags and what happens next left me so enraged, I felt my temperature spike.

What do you get when two extraordinary people meet? You are left with a breathless feeling after reading an epictastically awesome story where you have friendship, sweet loving, and finally peace but will this be enough for H and Bunny-Girl? Sometimes even the brightest light isn’t enough to hide the darkness? Or is it? To find out 1-click this exceedingly swoon-worthy story right now.

Hilarious and Heartwarming!!

Gosh, how do I review this book?
Can I just say it was the work of a genius and leave it at that?
No? Ok...

I never really know what to say about ES Carter's 'Love by Numbers' books. I get completely engrossed and they hit me in the feels so hard that not only is my breath knocked out of me, so are all coherent thoughts. Thirteen was a little different than the first three books of the series, in that it was HILARIOUS. I was doubled over laughing at Harry and Lilah's antics.

I love Harry. He's been dealt a rough hand, which I learned about in Three, but it's explained again in Thirteen's blurb, so you can read this as a standalone. Throughout the series Harry had always been comical with a kind of loud 'I don't give a f*ck who hears me because I'm hilarious' attitude. He always had a big smile on his face, found the humor in everything and was an all-around great guy. His close friendship with the Fox brothers just made him even more loveable. When he's hit with the knowledge that he has testicular cancer I felt such a loss. My poor Harry changed, not just physically, but emotionally. He was no longer my fun loving Harry. He was now the cute guy with the sad eyes using jokes to blanket over his true feelings.

So when Lilah entered the picture I was ecstatic!! I was willing her to save my poor Harry from the depths of depression. Who knew there was a female version of him out there? And so close! This girl was a bucketful of sunshine! Her shenanigans (yes shenanigans) were knee slapping, 'laughing out loud so hard, I almost peed myself' hysterical! She's a mischeivous little thing, but her heart is made of gold. And she has this sister...well that's a whole separate review. But Lilah has a secret.

I literally broke down and cried reading this book. I wasn't expecting to. I knew about Harry's cancer but I wasn't expecting certain other issues that arose and when they did...it hit really close to home. So what I thought was going to be a light funny read ended up having so much depth. More than I was prepared for. I loved it. Absolutely loved everything about this book from beginning to end. I fell in love with the characters, found them 100% relatable and perfectly imperfect. ES Carter captured my heart with this phenomanal story. I cannot wait to read more from her.
