First let me say if you haven't read Making Angel you really need to read it first. I also want to say that I am not a huge mafia book fan, however I really enjoyed both Making Angel and this one. After reading book one I knew I needed to know Bones' story. He just really wormed his way into my heart in the first book and I really couldn't wait to get my hands on his book. I was not disappointed at all. I fell even more in love with him. Ari was introduced in the first book as well since she is Markie's (the heroine from book 1) sister. I honestly wasn't as sure about her, but by the end of the book I was a fan of hers as well. This author really knows how to write to grab your attention and keep it. This was 4 AMAZEBALLS stars for me. Thanks for the opportunity to read this book. I am a Bones fan forever!! I think I need a shirt that says "Bones is MINE!", but oh wait I really loved Angel from the first one too so scratch that I need a shirt that says "Bones and Angel are MINE!"

Bones and Ari's story.
Best to read book 1 first as the 1st couple from book 1 feature heavily in this book.
A good story, bits of humour but also a vulnerable heroine under all her bravado.

First the legal mumbo jumbo. I was lucky enough to be given an Arc of Breaking Bones. I have to be honest, if it disappeared off of my reader I would immediately buy it. Both, Angel and Breaking Bones, are worth reading again. They are AMAZING!!!! They are THRILLING!!! They are EXCITING!!!! They are ADDICTIVE.
If you haven't read Angel, you really need to read it first. Consider it an intro to Bones, his dedication, his protective nature, his loyalty. Also, you have been warned---- BONES is MINE!!!!
I am not one to read the mafia genre. Angel changed that for me. Breaking Bones convinced me even more that not all mafia books the same. The Mariani Crime Family is so much more than just mafia business.
The danger maybe from the mafia, but love, friendship and hope are what really make the story. Bones has been Angel's friend and protector since he was ten years old. Now that Angel is leaving the family and Vegas, Bones has a decision to make. Does he stay or does he go???? The decision is getting more challenging, more difficult all of the time. If he does one more job his boss will let him go (or will he??).
Bones carries a lot of guilt for past actions. He is tired of being that guy. He is also falling for Ariana, Markie's sister. He knows caring puts her at risk. But can anyone just turn off their feelings? It gets worse. Bones discovers someone wants her, and willing to pay.
How does a guy protect the girl, protect his friend, appease the mafia and live to tell about it? He does it by being good at his job. He does it by being smarter than the other guy. He does it because deep down he is a good guy.
The person that protects them all is amazing. I got my happy ending, but at what cost? We are still left wondering what will happen to those who remain in Vegas. What will happen, if anything, to the person that caused the problems?
The story may sound simple, but their are a lot of mouth dropping shockers. The mastermind will shock readers. How were secrets keep so long?? Why were they kept??? Why tell them now? Why does he want to kill certain people??
I am hooked on the series. I have questions. I need answers. Amanda Washington, please give them to me. Oh and don't forget--BONES is MINE!!!!!

Review to come!Breaking Bones is the companion novel to Making Angel but is best read in order because of the story arc that runs through both. The first book is about Angel who is part of the Mariani crime family and this one is about his best friend and guard, Bones. The characters are all present in both books,

Bones is a bit of a tough guy and in this book we get more of his story and how he came to work for the Family. We get to know more of his innermost thoughts and what he really wants out of life. Bones may be a tough guy who has had to do some awful things just to live but he is surprisingly gentle and kind. I liked Bones completely and hope that things are better for him from now on out!

Ariana is the sister of Markie who was one of the main characters in Making Angel. She's a fiercely independent girl who has trouble letting others in. She suffers from a lot of guilt as well and lets that hang over her. There were times I got really frustrated with her and decisions but in the end she made up for it all and I was happy with how things went.

While this is mafia fiction it does not glorify the lifestyle. It features the realistic and ugly parts of it while still showing the more glorious bits (fancy cars and houses, etc). But makes it clear that all those glorious bits are not worth it.

Another thing I like about these books is that it features a clean romance in the sense that there's no sex. Ariana is mouthy and bold so there's some language but for the most part this is a clean book. I personally like that.

The romance is also not full of mis-communications and constant drama. There is some but it never gets annoying.

Overall this was a great read and I was really happy with how things ended up. There were lots of twists and turns and a great mystery that played out. I definitely recommend this series!

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for a honest review. All thoughts and comments are my own.

I have to admit I am new to both this series and author, though not the genre, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when I first started reading. Breaking Bones is the second book in the Mariani Crime Family series by Amanda Washington. The two main characters from book one, Angel and Markie actually become secondary characters in this book. After reading other reviews from ARC readers a few mentioned having to read the first book before this but I didn’t find this to be the case and found no holes in the story that would indicate I had missed vital information. I will however be picking up the first book in the series as I really enjoyed this book.

In book two you meet Angel’s body guard Franco “Bones” Leone and Markie’s sister, Ariana “Ari” Davis, both of who are strong willed and independent characters in their own rights. I loved Ari’s sass, especially with her witty retorts to Mr Bossy Control Freak, Bones. Both Bones and Ari have their own pasts that they keep to themselves, but you get a glimpse of these through memories from both characters, which also helps to build to the characters stories.

You get pulled into the story from the start with each character leaving their mark on you, you want everyone to have a happy ending but this is a Mafia story, so that can’t always be the case. The twists and turns in this story leave you wanting more and even when the story ended I wanted to know where the characters went from there! I can’t recommend this story enough to fans of this genre, and even those who aren’t.

**2.5 Stars** The story continues from the first book with Bones and Ariana being the key characters this time around. Having a Nonna with power in the Mafia World where women are respected but must tow the line didn't work for me.
Key area's of this tale such as the warehouse confrontation for one, was easily wrapped up in such a fleeting fashion it irked. Not enough details and development there; which was really what the story was aiming towards but fell flat.To be honest more action and less too and fro with Bones and Ariana would have made this book worth while. Too bad because the author shows talent and area's of the book where good but not overall............

Good story

Wish there were a few more books in this series. Maybe in the future, I have a feeling Nonna isn't quite through yet..... I just wish I got see both couples married.
