It's been a stressful couple of months for bartender, Hope Foster, so her best friend Ruby treats her to an afternoon of holistic pampering with therapist Pandora Williams. But what should be a relaxing getaway turns into a murder scene when Hope and Ruby stumble across Pandora’s lifeless body in the kitchen next to a killer cocktail.
Hope is convinced that the police are barking up the wrong tree when it comes to suspects. But as she digs further into Pandora's past, it's seems she's opening the proverbial box. Twenty years ago, Pandora’s daughter, Jenna, disappeared one night after arranging to meet her fiancé, Tim, to break off their engagement. Pandora had always believed that Tim killed her daughter, although she’d never been able to prove it. Is Pandora’s murder connected with a decades-old family tragedy? Or has someone used the past as a convenient way to frame the fiancé? With the police wearing blinders, it’s up to Hope, Ruby, and ex-FBI agent Vernon to find out the truth...at any cost!

About Danger Danger Cove is a sleepy little town in the Pacific Northwest and home to renowned mystery novelist, Elizabeth Ashby. While Elizabeth swears the stories she writes are fiction, you can find the inspiration for her murderous tales all over Danger Cove...from the intriguing cast of local characters to the places to eat, play, and explore in Danger Cove. Don't let our name fool you—we're the friendliest (even if deadliest) town in the Pacific Northwest! Visit us at dangercovemysteries.com
Local resident Elizabeth Ashby was born and raised in Danger Cove and now uses her literary talent to tell stories about the town she knows and loves. Ms. Ashby has penned several Danger Cove Mysteries, which are published by Gemma Halliday Publishing. While she does admit to taking some poetic license in her storytelling, she loves to incorporate the real people and places of her hometown into her stories. She says anyone who visits Danger Cove is fair game for her poisoned pen, so tourists beware! When she's not writing, Ms. Ashby enjoys gardening, taking long walks along the Pacific coastline, and curling up with a hot cup of tea, her cat, Sherlock, and a thrilling novel.
Welcome back to Danger Cove. Sleep little seaside town where murder seems an every occurrence. Killer Colada is book 9 in the danger cove series and the second book in this series for Sibel Hodge. Danger Cove is the brain Child of Author Elizabeth Ashby, she works alongside other authors such as Sibel Hodge, Jennifer Fischetto, Traci Andrighetti and more to bring Danger Cove to life. Killer Colda brings us back to Hope Foster and the smugglers Tavern, it's set a few months after Hopes boss Bob is murdered leaving Hope his heir and number 1 suspect in his murder which she is eventually exonerated from and Hope helped bring the killer to justice. In Killer Colada Hope finds yet another dead body when her dear friend Ruby takes her for what was meant to be a relaxing afternoon of crystal therapy. It turns out crystal therapy is not that relaxing when you find your healer dead at her kitchen table.
I just love the Danger Cove mysteries they are all written fantastically. Killer Colada was no exception I loved Hope in the first book and she is even better in this one. It was great reading that Hope and Harvey's budding romance is in full bloom, even if his crazy ex coming to town stirs up Hopes insecurities it all works out in the end. Rosie and Vernon are back as well they both help Hope out at the tavern and with solving the murder all the while ignoring their feelings for each other. Killer Colada is well written engaging mystery with strong characters who can see the funny side of life amidst the chaos surrounding them. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Killer Colada and I would recommend everyone to give the Danger Cove Mysteries a visit.
After all that Hope has been thru lately, she needs to “de-stress” so she goes along with the advice of her female side-kick, Ruby for a crystal healing session. Upon arrival at Pandora’s house, they see Tim oddly hurrying out. Ruby knows Pandora is a recluse and that she thought Tim got away with killing her daughter, Jenna, 20 years ago so Ruby is uneasy about seeing him there. They are both shocked at what they discover inside Pandora’s house.
With the help of her male side-kick, Vernon (ex FBI) & Ruby…let the investigating begin. Despite the local police wanting any excuse to lock her up, the threatening notes she receives and wondering if her man, Harvey still wants her since his old squeeze is back, Hope is determined that both of these mysteries are solved.
Another great addition to the "Danger Cove" series. It makes you think, wonder, sad but glad, laugh, want to slap Carmen (lol), shout hooray & say awww!!! Just a great read, all around!
Welcome back to Danger Cove; drop by the Smugglers Tavern for a drink, like the Colada Hope is famous for serving. Try to avoid the dead body Hope Foster discovers with her friend Ruby, a sort of Pandora's box conundrum. Hope attracts disasters & bad luck: like the 20-year-old missing person case and being considered a viable suspect whenever Deputy Lester Marshall is investigating. Her pals, Vernon (ex-FBI) & Ruby help Hope investigate to see if the druggist has been framed & to help her stop worrying about her hunky oceanographer-archaeologist Harvey's old girlfriend who's trying to undermine Hope's relationship and confidence. Next, threatening notes, more suspects, & an unusual twist of fate provide an ending to keep you guessing until the final page. I was provided a free review copy. My opinions are my own. What a wonderful thrilling romantic-suspense to add to the Danger Cove series. Hats off to a great author, Sibel Hodge.
Danger Cove mysteries are written by a variety of authors that focus on different residents and businesses in the town. They are fun, easy to read cozy mysteries that have something for every mystery reader. This one focuses on Hope Foster. She has inherited the local tavern and is hoping to put aside the last two stressful months and start back on a more positive life. But when her friend Ruby takes her to Pandora, a spiritual therapist, they find her slumped over a table breathing her last breathes. The local detective only wants a quick solution to the murder so Hope finds herself involved in trying to figure out who really killed Pandora.
This was a good, fun mystery read with a little romance on not one, but two fronts, tossed in to the story. I didn't suspect the murderer until well into the book, and then proceeded to change my mind. Once you find out, the first thought is that the killer is obvious. But, it is really not obvious at all. At least to me.
I like all the characters in Danger Cove. Even the bad guys are well written.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed reading this second book in the Danger Cove Cocktail Mysteries. I love reading about Hope, Harvey, Vernon and Ruby. Not to forget Zen and Karma, Hope's two cats! This is a wonderful story with lots of sadness. More than twenty years after her daughter, Jenna, has gone missing, Pandora, a crystal healer, is found dead in her kitchen. With several suspects in mind, the author managed to surprise me at the end.
Sibel Hodge Book 2 Killer Colada. Hope is a barmaid but she doesn't feel t great right now, her friend Ruby decides to treat her to an afternoon of pampering Pandora the therapist. This is then turned into a murder scene as they find Pandora dead. This book is an excellent read as are all books by Sibel Hodge. 5* 10 January 2016.
Danger Cove is a series of mysteries, each with different subtitles - This is a Cocktail Mystery. I've read that you don't need to read the books in order, but that wasn't the case with Killer Colada. However, I did get this book for free, plus since they offer on average two of the books for free every day on Amazon Kindle I've actually managed to get 19 or 20 out of the 24 books for free. To find free books, search "Danger Cove" or "free cozy mystery ebook" on Amazon then download titles with a price of 0.00 to your Kindle. Be sure that is the price for buying the book, not borrowing it through Kindle Unlimited. Killer Colada is the second Danger Bay Cocktail Mystery book, and the author spends a lot of time reviewing the previous book. In part, this helps the reader to understand Hope the owner of the Smuggler's Cavern better, but I also felt there was too much summarizing of the previous book in the series, so much so that it felt like it spoiled the previous book. However, I like Hope, her British historical archeologist boyfriend, Harvey, and her friends, Ruby and Vernon. The characters were vivid and real and not just their quirks. The plot has Ruby bringing Hope to a "crystal healing" session with Pandora because the two need some relaxation. But when they get there they see Tim leaving the house and the two know that Tim and Pandora didn't get along. When Ruby and Hope enter, they find Pandora - dead. The local police officer, with whom Hope has had run-ins before, practically accuses Hope of murder before deciding that Tim must be guilty since he was seen at the scene. Pandora had accused Tim of murdering her daughter, Jenna, when Jenna was 22. As far as Pandora was concerned, Tim killed Jenna and got away with it. Jenna's disappearance was never solved. Pandora drives away her son, Ian, and then she becomes a recluse. She briefly conducts a campaign against Tim, including picketing his store, but he files harassment charges and she's forced to stay away. Hope, Ruby, and Vernon investigate. Vernon is a retired FBI agent with some expertise. Ruby is Hope's best friend. and Both Hope and Ruby are into New Agey-type stuff though it gives the book flavor and suits the setting without being annoying. Also, Hope is well, hoping, to deepen her relationship with Harvey. But he is very busy with attempting to find a sunken pirate ship and a successful dig at some caves near the Smuggler's Cavern. Still, the two do get to spend some time together and Harvey is interested in Hope's quest to investigate Pandora's murder. Then Harvey's ex-girlfriend, Carmen, shows up. She's mean-spirited, gaslights Hope, and is so much of an obvious villain she's practically twirling a mustache. However, Hope conducts a good investigation, better than the local police, but she misses the glaringly obvious posibility at the crime scene. In the end, finding a modern skeleton in amongst the historical ones at the cavern leads to the conclusion of the mystery and everything is wrapped up. Harvey and Hope have a magical date and literally swim with dolphins, and even the issues between Carmen and Hope work out in the most Karma way possible. (It's priceless, trust me, though I don't want to spoil it.) And Hope's kitten Karma is not harmed. This was a fun short read, and since I own a lot more of the Danger Cove novels I will be reading more of them. Also, I'd call Killer Colada a great beach read. I recommend the book and the series.
The new owner of The Smuggler's Tavern, Hope, is back in the thick of it again! The daughter and nephew of the late, previous, owner have given up the fight for the bar and her underwater archeologist boyfriend (Harvey) is back in the UK for a while, so Hope's good friend Ruby decides to treat Hope to a few hours of holistic TLC with the semi recluse Pandora. So far, so great ... only when Ruby and Hope arrive they witness the local pharmacist (Tim) running hell for leather out of Pandora's house, and when they get inside they discover her dead at the kitchen tables. Now the inept police chief has arrested Tim (who swears he is being framed) and he isn't looking into any other possibilities, so Hope, Ruby and their friend Vernon start snooping around. Well it gives Hope something to concentrate on other than the fact that Harvey has arrived back in town with his stunning ex girlfriend who obviously doesn't want to be an ex any longer!
Hope and Ruby are going to Pandora's for a holistic healing treatment and when they arrive they see Tim running out the door. When they go inside the find Pandora with a needle in her arm and dead. The police arrested Tim and did not do much of an investigation so Hope goes into mystery solving mode. While this is going on her on again off again romance is in danger with a former girl friend arriving and being an assistant. Good reading with a little romance thrown in
For the perfect spa day - do you want to book one murder or two
Breathtaking! A spa day should not end in murder to be relaxing. The girls are set on proving that the police have the wrong suspect in mind for the murder. Does this murder connect with the one several years ago? Watch as the girls race to solve both cases.
Danger Cove is the Midsommer Mysteries location in the American Northwest. Only Danger Cove usually has only one dead body at a time. Hallmark should make a series out of these books. Great authors and series. Recommend.
I love reading these back to back. This is book 8 and the story returns to Hope and Harvey and the Smugglers Tavern. I wonder who will be featured in book 9. Keep writing Ms Ashby and I will keep reading!
Another interesting book filled with twists and turns along with humor. I may not agree with everything said in this book but I enjoyed it's entertaining storyline.
The last few months have been very stressful for Hope, so her best friend Ruby treats her to an afternoon of pampering. Instead of a relaxing afternoon, they stumble upon the murder scene of a therapist named Pandora’s in the kitchen of the spa. Hope gets involved and feels that the police have it all wrong. With the help of her friends and FBI agent Vernon, Hope tries to figure out the truth.
This is the second in this author's Danger Cove mysteries. It seems there are many authors writing about life in the town of Danger Cove. This author's characters are centred around the Smugglers' Tavern which Hope inherited in the first book. She is getting into her new life as bar owner and also her new love life with a cute Brit called Harvey.
As with any cozy mystery, there's a death. And as the first story, the police decide who the killer is based on the minimum of evidence. So Hope and her best friends, Ruby and Vernon, have to solve the murder mystery themselves.
This is quite a light easy to read story, but a bit heavy on the healthy fitness, new age lifestyle. As a couch addict, I felt it was a little rammed down my throat. It didn't take away from the story too much though.
Having read 2 stories set in this world, I expect I will look at the others as it's a nice town (apart from the murders)
This is the second book about Hope and the Tavern in Danger Cove. Now that she has inherited the Tavern and is running it, her relationship with Harvey is coming along nicely. Things seem to be doing pretty well, but Ruby insists Hope needs to have her Chakras aligned by Pandora, so off they go for the appointment. But instead of a pleasant experience, they witness someone leaving the house and when they go in they find Pandora dead at the kitchen table. Thus begins another book about Hope, Ruby and Vernon solving a new murder as well as one from over twenty years ago. There are twists and turns and people who appear to be something different from what they are...all the makings of a good mystery. Add in a little romance, an old ex, a couple cute kitties, and it is an irresistible book and wonderful return to Danger Cove. I liked knowing how Hope's life was turning out after meeting her a few books back. I recommend this series and am anxious to read the next story!
I was looking forward to finding out what would happen with Hope and her friends next! Her adorable British boyfriend Harvey is still in town trying to find evidence that the ship Ocean’s Revenge sunk off of Danger Cove. Unfortunately, his former girlfriend shows up and makes it her mission to cause problems between the two of them. Then, Hope and Ruby happen upon a murdered woman when they show up for a massage at the woman’s home. There are lots of clues and suspects and this book will keep you guessing all the way to the end!!! This is a wonderful mystery and I will be gifting it to friends for sure!
Totally enjoyed this book. I got caught up from the first page and was kept interested right til the very last. The characters were totally believable - and reacted like "real" people - which is always a winner for me. I look forward to more books by this author.
Love Danger Cove Mysteries. This is another Hope and Harvey tale, that will keep you laughing your "fanny" of. Hope not only solves a current murder but also an old one.
