Nothing is guaranteed in life, everything could end tomorrow.

This one quote has epitomized the essence of this book. That change, is ever constant and time waits for no one. 3 Breaths is an emotional tale of turmoil, rage and heartbreak. One that will have you fighting to survive yourself.

After the untimely death of his fiance, Krane Hensley became a shell of a man. Fighting to survive, to breath, while surviving to Fight. His dreams became a brutal reality of inner war, that he unleashed upon his opponents.

My life is plagued with the images of Zoe dying in front of me in my arms.

Krane battled daily with the death of his one true love, going through the motions of each day, grieving and months later, he still cannot come to terms with Zoe's death. He cannot even see himself moving on. Finding someone else to ease his pain, is a difficult pill to swallow. No one seems to understand his grief, definitely not his family. They can not understand why he keeps wallowing in self pity.

Each moment, each breath, each second is all I can focus on moving through.

Zoe's sister, Ivy is the only person that helps Krane through his grief. They help each other. Because Ivy is having the same turmoil running though her. Coming to terms with her sister's death is even harder for her, and she found many different reasons to 'beat' herself up about. Not being a good enough sister. Not keeping in touch more. Being too busy to hang out. Ivy was slowly self destructing and her twin partner in grieve, Krane, was barely hanging on.

Together, Ivy and Krane found love through devastating circumstances, and while they will never forget Zoe, they learnt to move on and to cherish her memory.

Ivy and Krane's coupling wasn't easy. These two, mostly Krane couldn't understand why he had these feelings for Ivy. For Zoe's sister. She would have been his sister - in- law. But, faith had another plan for them. It was as if Zoe was looking over them from above.

This was such a bitter sweet tale of love lost, and a connection formed through grief and heartache.

A quick, Emotionally, Intense, Riveting Read

“3 Breaths will make your heart skip a beat while falling for the bad boy that you know you shouldn't."

3 Breaths kicks off with Zoe taking her final 3 Breaths on the subway train home after a heavy night out drinking with friends, and celebrating their engagement party.

Nothing is guaranteed in life, everything could end tomorrow.

Zoe starts convulsing violently in Krane's arms, her eyes are rolled back into her head, spittle and blood foaming from her mouth, her breathing is labored, then suddenly she stills, Krane stands there counting her breaths..One...Two...Three and then NOTHING..

My life is plagued with the images of Zoe dying in front of me in my arms.

To 5 months later Krane's life is on a fast downward spiral of booze and fighting, life has just stopped still, he's not moved on from the loss, the heartache pulls him under a thick dark cloud of despair on a daily basis that he struggles to get out from under, the only person who seems to understand his struggle is Zoe's sister Ivy.

Everything happens for a reason.

Each moment, each breath, each second is all I can focus on moving through.

Apart Ivy and Krane were two lost broken souls, together they became whole, through heartache came love, this was how it was always mean't to be.

“My heart was broken for so long before you. But now I have a purpose. You’re my reason for existence, you have shown me what it’s like to love again. I know our love is just beginning, but we found each other for a reason”

MY THOUGHTS
Such a unique bitter sweet story, one minute your broken hearted along with Krane over his devastating loss of Zoe his Fiance, and then the next minute your rooting for Ivy and Krane..
I liked how it was a slow build up with these two I just wish the book was a bit longer, I'm a fairly slow reader and I read it in one sitting..

I wish I could say I loved it but unfortunately I can't. The book had so much potential, possibly if it had been written in dual POVs?
I didn't like either of the characters.
For example, our hero felt so much love for his dead girlfriend that he literally ruined every friendship, family relationship he had.
He loved her so much that looking at her sister's ass caused him so much grief, yet a week later he has had sex with 2 different females? A week after that her own sister?
The book went from them being somewhat friends, relying on one another to jumping into feelings and relationship when there were none.
I am sorry but I did not feel a thing! I didn't believe a word about their feelings because it was unrealistic. I don't even know what either of the characters look like. I wish the author had done a better job in making the characters more alive, more realistic.

This is a powerful, emotional story of loss, recovery, hope and finding happiness at last.
Most of all, it is a story about life.
Two broken people healing each other one step at the time.
I was hooked from the prologue, and read it one sitting.

He lost her the night of their engagement party. Zoe died in his arms and now Crane is adrift in loss and pain. The only person who truly understands what he is feeling is Zoe's sister, Ivy. Together they can talk and feel, no pretenses, no shame. But what happens when their friendship becomes more? Can they move on without guilt over Zoe?

3 BREATHS by L. K. Collins is a short, erotic read with some shallow romance, nothing soul deep or nearly as expressive as the sensual/sexual scenes. For me, the value of the pain of grief was diminished by the bits and pieces of casual sex for Hensley which never made his eventual sex with Ivy seem special. Even his MMA underground fighting seemed to be just kind of chipped into a space between the rest of the story.

If you are looking for a deep and soulful read, this may not be it, but if you want some passionate and explicit sex with some story bits scattered about, you've got it, here! Sure not saying this can't warm you up on a cold night, it just may leave your heart out there, kind of hanging in the wind. I know I was disappointed in the lack of depth to any idea tossed out there, making them seem like filler in between the sex.

You know the books that get your heart pumping faster and faster with each turn of the page? The kind of read that hits every one of your emotional buttons? The kind of book that makes everything else around you disappear? Well, 3 BREATHS by LK Collins was that book for me. We are metaphorically slapped in the face with immense love and adoration and then punched in the gut with complete fucking heartbreak.

This is an absolute gut wrenching romance about two broken souls healing each other one day at a time. It's about finding a small speck of sunshine in the middle of a disastrous storm. It's about finding that one person who can calm you with just a touch. It's about finding your happily ever after when you don't think you were meant for one. THIS is about finding a second chance at love where you least expect it. I completely and irrevocably fell in love with Krane and Ivy's story.

This was my first ever LK Collins book... um why didn't you all tell me I should have read her stories a long time ago?
First off, I don't know how many of you pay attention to book titles or if this impacts whether or not you will read something but I love this title. So much significance to the story-- not just from the beginning situation but throughout the entire story. 3 is such a significant number for so many things in life and it fits perfectly for this story.
I enjoyed how Collins set the pace of the story right from the first few pages. She sucked me in wondering where she was going to go with Krane's journey and how Ivy would truly fit in the bigger picture. Because honestly, I wasn't convinced I was going to like where she was headed with their relationship. But here's where I can't believe I haven't read anything from her sooner because amidst my doubts, she managed to make a believer out of me and embrace Krane and Ivy. Collins made me see that yes, Krane and Ivy could be a something, could make us fall in love with their journey of healing, that love doesn't pick and choose who you fall for or find a deeper connection with. She made me see that love is often in the most unsuspecting places.
Often when reading romance, I find authors create a juxtaposition between the characters ages and how they behave. It made me happy to see that while Krane and Ivy had to "get their sh!t together" there were things that kept them true to their early 20's. Their initial ways of dealing with the hand they were dealt would be exactly how I picture that particular age group to do so. I know that this may seem trivial but it makes a big deal in the overall vibe of the story. It also made the story much more viable and true.
The story flowed well and the characters fit with the story line.
3 Breaths definitely won't be my last LK Collins book.

Wow..... This was an emotional rollercoaster. I won't lie. I was worried about Krane for a large portion of this book. The broken hearted man was lost after tragically losing his fiancee on their way home after engagement celebration. I know, it breaks your heart doesn't it? Ms. Collins will do that a lot with 3 breaths. Drinking, screwing, and self-sabotaging, Krane is sinking fast, save for the concern and care of Ivy, his deceased fiancee's sister.

The two have forged a bond as they struggle to get over the untimely passing of Zoe.

There were so many things I liked. His intensity, his turn around. The grief felt real, and the two did connect on a whole other level> The things I didn't like. i think they both needed more time ot grieve before going into their own thing. I worried that later they might regret or question their "love for one another."

All in all, fabulous read! This was my first L.K. Collins book, but it won't be my last.

Poignant and powerful, 3 Breaths will have you hugging your loved ones close and deciding to live each day as it might be your last.

Every single L.K. Collins novel I have read has been an emotional roller coaster for me and this read was no different. With the ability to shatter your heart and restore it by the conclusion, this brilliant Author takes you a journey with every turn of the page.

Everyday is a struggle for Krane after the untimely loss of his fiance. He feels like he has nothing left to live for. Bitter and on a path of self destruction, his only solace is through underground fighting, booze and sex. No brightness ahead nor an end to his personal hell this is one devastated shell of a man.

Ivy lost a part of herself as well on that fateful night. Her sister. Struggling with her own inner turmoil, her only solace is the one man who understands her pain like no other. Leaning heavily on a person who himself has issues is a dangerous thing, however for them it works.

While simple daily activities are a battle for them, they find their own ways of coping. The only way of surviving is the strength given to one another.

One look, one split decision will take their relationship to a new level. Feelings of guilty along with a undeniable passion will have them questioning and hurting. What happens when grief turns to attraction? Will this couple be able to find their way out of the darkness and accomplish the hopes of dreams they and their friends , family had for them? Or will it be just too much too soon?

Read and find out how the road to recovery is paved for Krane and Ivy.

Get your tissues ready, settle in and be prepared for one heck of an emotional roller coaster.

I was pulled right into this story. The story is an emotional tug at your heart. It will break you down and heal your pieces back together.

This is Ivy and Krane’s story. Krane lost the woman he loved months ago. He is just going through the emotions of living. Ivy is also trying to deal with the pain of losing her sister. She can see Krane’s pain and wants to help him. Ivy is torn as she wants Krane but knows he is forbidden to her. He belongs to her sister. What happens when the one thing you thought was forbidden is the one thing you cling to the most? Can you have the forbidden or will you push everything and everyone away so you are along. This couple in no way has an easy journey but this author knows just how to pull will you emotions out and make you break. Don’t worry you will also be healed back together but the road is hard. You will fight with the characters along the journey. There are times you want to smack them both but in the end you see that they came together in the only way they could.

I loved these characters and also the side characters. There are some tear filled moments and some anger filled moments in this story. But all in all I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

I loved a beach scene that Ivy and Krane had it wasn't really anything important going on I just enjoyed the scene, “What’s that?” Ivy asks as I pull it up from the water. I hand her the perfectly round sand dollar and she stares at it like I just gave her a stack of cash. “You never find these intact and so…perfect,”she says." Ivy is a breath of fresh air, the girl is always honest, “no, I’m not. I’m tired. You woke my a** up in the middle of the night to eff, so I didn’t get a full night’s sleep.” I enjoyed this book I liked Krane.

This author isn't new to me. I have read her works before... loved and devoured them. This book was different. It touched my heart and soul, broke me down then slowly put me back together. I devoured this standalone in just one sitting.

This book was sexy, intense, passionate, and captivating. LK Collins takes her readers on an emotional journey that will leave readers hearts full of love. This is a second chance romance that was full of ups and downs, until the very last word.

This is Krane and Ivy's story. Krane lost the love of his life and his reason for breathing months ago. Now he is a shell of the man he used to be. And one woman, his fiance's sister, is going to ignite something in him he thought died.

Ivy knows Krane is special. She knows she shouldn't want him but she does. Losing her sister was hard and finding peace in Krane's arms seems so right. It won't be easy. They will have to fight for their love and forever. Can love really conquer all?

There were times when I honestly did not see this working out for these two but they surprised me along the way. There were things that were hard to read... and understand but during grief we all make mistakes. I found myself rooting for them, despite it all.

I recommend this book.

Krane and Ivy share grief over the death of her sister, who was also Krane's fiance'. Both of them have leaned on each other for help through their grief. I really wanted to like this book but it moved too fast for me. From being destroyed by Zoe's death to finding love in a few short months together was hard to fathom. Krane's MMA fighting was part of the story but, most of the time, they were both aimlessly wandering around. Neither one of them were very reliable or showed the best common sense at times. It was a quick read but was hoping for more.

I expected a lot from this story and yet it failed me. I don't know what but it just felt all wrong. Their connection their chemistry just didn't seem all that convincing for me. I guess the beginning had you in the moment and then BAM it took me away from the feelings that I had on the Prologue.

So for me this was a downer. I just felt that it was wrong and I kept on saying that I wished the author had taken time to really pushed their connection in a way that would have me like them together.

3 Breaths by L.K. Collins is a moving story of love developed out of terrible circumstances but more powerful because of the way it started.

Krane is a young man, who fell in love with Zoe and they were on their way home one night after their engagement dinner and at the subway station Zoe has a horrible seizure that takes her life! Krane was devastated by this and he went off on his own and just would not accept help from anyone. On top of that, Zoe's mother blamed Krane saying if they had not been out drinking, it would have never happened. It simply was not true.

The only person that understood how he was feeling was Zoe's little sister, Ivy. Ivy was just as torn up as Krane was, and they comforted each other, giving each other strength, when no one else could. Krane did not have a regular job he was in underground fighting and he always won, and that is what kept him paying his rent and Zoe's as well, until he was able to close up the apartment.

Krane and Ivy started spending time together and she always tried to be positive for him as he was for her when she needed someone and they became friends. The author did a great job, through her writing making us feel the grief and loss as if we are there with the characters, and can feel the depth of their sorrow.

One night Ivy asks Krane what is going on between them and while he wants to move on he is afraid to move on with Ivy as she is his only friend. He tries to explain it to her but her feelings have started to run deep and his hesitance to commit to anything upset her tremendously and she leaves. Krane tries to call and text her but she does not answer. Krane winds up going to his sister's wedding, and it is horrible being without Ivy. He sees how many times he has tried to call her in the week they have been apart and that does not include all the texts! In a moment of self doubt he deletes her number so he can't call her anymore.

After a week of not hearing or seeing Ivy, Krane goes to her house, after going to her job and finding out she quit! Her front door is open, and her house is torn apart, her cat is hungry and there is no food or water down. He can't find her and he goes to her room and there she is. He finally realizes in that moment that he needs this woman in his life. The question is, will Ivy forgive him? It is interesting to note that the author while writing this story made us realize that both of these characters did not want to forget Zoe, they just miss her so much in their own ways and it does not affect how they feel for each other.

I loved the way this book finished, and how out of all the sadness, guilt, unhappiness, and self doubt things turn out for both Ivy and Krane. I was really surprised by what happens in the last quarter of the book. If you want to read a book that is really well written and makes you feel so much, you need to read this book! It is my first book by this author and I can't wait to read more by her!

I gave this book 4**** emotional stars!

⭐ ⭐ ARC Provided by Author in Exchange for an Honest Review ⭐ ⭐

Judging a Book by it's Cover:
Heavily tattooed male looking defeated and/or anguished.
Synopsis SCREAMS "read me", therefore, I must!
Looking Deeper:
First person POV, Krane's perspective.
The book opens upon Krane and Zoe celebrating their engagement with friends. But tragedy strikes on the way home. The story continues several months later as Krane is still reeling from his loss, spiraling into a bottle and underground fights. Through mutual pain of loss, Krane finds solace in Zoe's sister, Ivy. Together, they help each other through the worst of times, developing a bond in the process.
The lead characters are great and the chemistry between them forms gradually and naturally. The sex scenes, however, are a bit too crass and blunt for my liking - not to mention it contradicts itself at times. If he cups her face gently while reminding himself to take things slow, she should not be asking her if she likes taking his cock then ramming into her deeper.... if that's slow and gentle, YIKES. Aside from that, the secondary characters cover a wide array of personalities and most are likeable. The plot is dynamic and layered, the flow is wonderful. There were a few conflicts, most were resolved clearly. Predictability was minimal. The conclusion was not quite as solid as I'd expected or hoped for. Although Krane and Ivy receive a complete ending, I'd hoped for an Epilogue containing the painting that Zoe did that was discussed earlier in the story, maybe another progress report on Ronnie, and definitely an update on Krane's newest venture in the legit, pro world. And whatever happened to Ivy's cat? He was mentioned once and then abandoned?
Overall, I enjoyed the concept, writing style and characters but was not a fan of the sex scenes, weak ending and missing cat (I don't take forgotten animals lightly).

Heartbreak affects everyone in different ways and sometimes we don’t know how to get past it. In this new novel by LK Collins, we are given a powerful rendition of what "Live your life as if today is your last day" really means.

Krane has lost his girlfriend Zoe, the woman he considered the love of his life, and depression completely consumes him. Collins gives a realistic depiction of the toll losing someone we love can have on a person. Krane doesn’t know what to do with himself and his relationship with everyone else suffers. It was sad to see the pain he was in and how difficult it was for him to live each day without Zoe.

Ivy, Zoe’s sister, is one other person taking her death as hard as Krane. I love how their relationship helped them both assimilate and endure the loss. The way they each helped each other “come down from the ledge” as they say, was beautiful to see as the way their relationship was growing became evident.

They are both hurting and relying on each other seems to help them, but at the same time, doing this too much can have bad results. When the relationship between Krane and Ivy begins to go in a direction that they might not be ready to understand and accept, tensions rise and feelings get hurt.
The hurt, the passion, and the guilt that follows them has them questioning their decisions and can put a damper on the relationship that seems to finally ground them both.

Once again we are invited to ride the emotional rollercoaster that LK Collins likes to write about. Krane and Ivy’s story is one of love, friendship, survival, and healing. It is a wonderful read that everyone needs to 1click right away!

description

Everything in his life was perfect, until is wasn't. One fateful night changed Krane and not in a good way. Watching the love of his life slip away became an unbearable nightmare for him. Lost to himself he went through the motions of being but not living. Krane was an emotional wreck and watching him struggle was a painful journey.

The only person who kept his somewhat grounded was Zoë’s sister, Ivy. Ivy lost to her own grief leaned on Krane to help her through this tragedy. He became her rock and they helped each other through so much. If only Krane could take his own advice.

This was a fast story filled with a lot of emotional turmoil. Krane struggles to breathe and live and his feelings are a roller-coaster ride with more downs than ups. Because this was a fast story you move through time quickly and things happen at a pretty quick rate. The fast pace seemed to add to the roller-coaster of a ride. The pain of the loss both Ivy and Krane suffered gave me tons of feels. It was hard to balance my feelings about some of the story because of the pace. Some it felt rushed but then I had to remember it was actually months. I like a good fast story but this one was almost too fast for me and there were points that I wanted it to slow down just a bit. That being said this story sure did pack a punch; between smoking hot scenes, high emotions and underground fights, my adrenaline was sure pumping.

A Review of 3 Breaths by L.K. Collins

AMAZING storyline - 5+++++ stars!!

LK has come up with a brand new storyline, dealing with heartbreaking loss and how it can affect people and the ramifications of how they deal with it - or not. Krane and Zoe were celebrating their engagement with friends and having a great time.

Once the party was over, they headed home on the subway. Zoe had done quite a bit of drinking, so he thought nothing of it when she leaned against him as they rode along. When she started having convulsions, he did everything in his power to help her and he thought she was going to be fine. He watched her take one ... two ... three breaths and then she was still.

Zoe's sister, Ivy, is the only other person that can understand how destroyed Krane is and how hard it is for him to continue living. Over the six months since Zoe died, they have each been there for each other, helping each other survive.

LK has a way of tearing our hearts out and handing them back to us with the AWESOME way she brings her characters to life. You get invested in them and end up sitting on the edge of your seat, waiting for the story to fully unfold. If you've read any of LK's works, then you will know the kind of ride you are in for. I totally recommend this book to anyone that loves a book that takes you into a world that leaves you looking for the next great story she comes out with.
