This book defines the supernatural gifts of I Corinthians 12, investigates their nature, discusses their proper function and use, and provides biblical and modern examples. God intends for them to operate within every local body of believers. Also available in Spanish
This is great overview of the various spiritual gifts found in the New Testament, coupled with practical application. Bernard gives insight into more than just the typical nine gifts of the spirit that are commonly known (although uncommonly understood), but he also expounds on the various other gifts (I e. Leadership, administration, helps) as well as the gifts to the church, the Five (four) Fold Ministry (apostles, prophets, evangelist, preachers/teachers).
I found it to be an engaging read, more accessible than some of Bernard's more scholarly works, and the personal stories were very moving at times.
One of my first experiences after receiving the Holy Ghost over 40 years ago in 1983 was that I was given a book by Brother Bernard, "Holiness" by my Pastor, B. H. McCoy. To this very day, Bishop Bernard continues to write books, produce podcasts and rightfully divide the word. This book on spiritual gifts is profoundly down to earth and instructs believers on the matter. He removes the mysticism surrounding the subject and lays a foundation for practicality and exposes the dire need of spiritual gifts in the church today!
Wonderful treatment and guideline for spiritual gifts from the Superintendent of the UPCI and former editor of Word Aflame Press. This and other books are very useful for the situation for my growth as a Christian and an elder in my church.
This is a great book for those who are seeking to understand the teaching of Apostle Paul about the Gift of the Holy Spirit. David Bernard explained it in a very understandable terms.
David Bernard writes so well and in a way one can digest/comprehend. I love the side notes and personal stories as well as the references back to the Bible for a deeper look.
