The seemingly magical power of herbs endowed them with a divine essence to the mind of early humans. Not only did they provide some of our earliest foods and become medicines for our illnesses but they also symbolized certain of our emotions and psychic feelings. This book presents the romantic history of herbs and their use even today.
Got this as a free book through kobo. A lot of it was very interesting, and worth further research, that's the only catch really, the baseline is good but the research should have been better. Which is surprising considering the lengthy commitment the author has had to herbalism.
A very good reference book regarding common herbs and the history and culture of their use. Even has a few recipes that seem to be quite good and favorful also has elements of herbal cures and medicinal remedies. Plus a how to at the end in regard to planting, growing and cultivating diffrent herbs.
The biggest problem of this books is playing with expectations. When you pick it up, it talks at length about the occult and magic of herbs; then, ends with recipes for minestrone and a long tirade about the need for organic gardening.
