I can’t believe I’m giving 4 stars… They say that certain things come to you at the right moment in your life, and this includes books. I’ve been putting Elemental aside for more than ten years, and if I had read it back then, I would probably have given it 5 stars without hesitation. Reading it now, however, I see it differently.

The story itself is captivating—the idea of the Elemental Witches, the Coven, the threat, and the importance of unity among families is genuinely intriguing. But the execution left me unsatisfied. The entire leadership concept felt unbalanced. Thirteen families were chosen and bound in a pact, yet the responsibility and authority seemed to fall on a single family, almost dismissing the others. This “I am the most important, and you don’t matter” approach weakened the depth of the worldbuilding.

The rituals, which should have been the core of the magical system, were barely explained. Important solutions seemed to “escape” the notice of experienced witches, only to be suddenly discovered by a girl who had learned about her powers just four months earlier. That twist could have been powerful, but without proper buildup and detail, it felt unconvincing.

In the end, the danger and its resolution felt underdeveloped. There was so much potential here—the atmosphere, the mythology, the families, the magic—but for me, it all lacked depth.

And yet… despite all these shortcomings, I still give it 4 stars. Why? Because I have a soft spot for this story. The idea stayed with me for years, and finally reading it brought a wave of nostalgia and a strange sense of comfort. It may not be perfect, but it still holds a special place for me.
