Technically this is manhwa, not manga, since it's Korean. It consists of 24 volumes, probably something like 200 pages per volume. I don't know Korean so I had to read the scanlations done by JAnimes.
This is one of my absolute top favorites. Ha Ji, a teenage girl who is in charge of a gang and is a total delinquent, goes into a coma after a motorcycle accident. The bringer of death in charge of spirit tells her to go wherever she feels she ought to when he realizes that she is a special, Great Spirit. Moments later, he screams, "No! Not there!" as she sinks into the body of another girl who is in a coma--the wealthy, extremely beautiful Aram Han. While pretending to be Aram, Ha Ji attends the beautiful girl's private school and encounters Sin Uoo, a gorgeous guy who's admired by all, is good at everything, and has an unbreakable poker face. Aram was in love with him and managed to force him into an engagement, but he hated her with a passion for being so selfish and manipulative.
So much is going on in this series it's hard to summarize. Ha Ji falls for Sin Uoo and with her mixture of delinquent wildness and innocence, she has him falling for her in a volume or two. However, the "real" delinquent of the story turns out to be her childhood best friend and her second in command in her old gang--Han Seo. He was infatuated with Ha Ji and makes her life difficult when he encounters her in Aram's body and then later on.
It's a great, LONG story with tons of characters and sub plots. Ha Ji in Aram's body only consists of the first arc and maybe half the entire manhwa. Then another reversal takes place and it's like the story starts all over again. With the swapping of spirits and bodies and erased memories and mistaken identities, it was INSANELY entertaining. If it were to be licensed in this country, I'd buy the whole thing even if it were $20 a volume.
2.5 stars. There are a lot of makjang (Korean melodrama) tropes in this series that you might find a little frustrating if you aren't used to it. The story is basically an angsty romance with some supernatural elements thrown in. Its a reverse harem so expect a lot of jealousy/ misunderstandings mixed in with some love/hate relationships reminiscent of the earlier Hana Yori Dango 1-37 style of story telling. But its definitely not for everyone.
While these type of stories are pretty addictive and popular, they also tend to be very violent and misogynistic. These tropes are present here not just in terms of character actions but also the plot itself. Guy on girl violence is pretty much a staple of this manga, and the author from what I can gather. As are rape threats which is used as a plot point to 1) paint the heroine (and other women) as damsel in distress and 2) to emphasize the heroine's virginity as a virtue. The men in this manga constantly threaten to rape the women, and otherwise perform horrible acts of violence on them. Its done not just by the "villains"of this story, but by all love interests. And yet, these things are brushed under the rug immediately after the fact; all is forgiven in the name of friendship and love. It is brutal, violent, and disgusting.
Women is this story are mostly portrayed as weak damsels in distress. They are humiliated and forced into extremely uncomfortable situations for the sake of plot. To be seen as tough is to behave in a masculine manner forsaking all hints of femininity. When any woman tries to rise above their situations and gain any kind of power its made perfectly clear that its by the grace of men. If they are seen as superior it's only because the men let them win.
There is also plenty of women on women hate going on. The female lead is constantly surrounded by men and has no female friends. Every other women is seen as either a manipulative bitch trying to take her man, or is an actual manipulative bitch. I don't even want to get into the whole other plot about the other woman being so consumed by jealousy that she would actually try to murder someone. Or how we are supposed to sympathize with her character because she is sad. *facepalm*
All in all this manga isn't the best thing in terms of plot or characters. But it is entertaining purely for how extremely bizarre it gets. Its one of those mangas that you don't really need any brain cells for. Just turn off all thought and read. If you aren't bothered by any of the above, and want to read some romance of the revenge/ jealous lover variety then this is the book for you. I thought it was just the most absurd thing and at one point even started laughing out loud because I couldn't anymore with the plot twists! 2.5 stars for the whole series through.
This is my favorite manhwa/manga. I've read it all the way through at least 10 times and it never fails to make me laugh. The main character is so focused on exercising and eating that she's oblivious to everything else. The misunderstandings this causes are hilarious. It gets more dramatic and less hilarious as the series progresses. This makes the read even more satisfying. The art style may take some getting used to but it's well worth it for a hilarious and original body swapping story.
Kisah tentang berpindah roh. Tapi tetap kepribadian seperti semula.
One of my fave Hwang Mi Ree series. Dari total 24 volume, buku pertama ini punya plot awal yang menjanjikan. Kang Hajie si cewek preman kecelakan dan rohnya masuk ke tubuh cewek kaya yang cantik luar biasa tapi penyakitan, haha..
I don't know whether the main character, HaJi, is purely simple-minded (in a good way) or the most manipulative one in the series. 5 stars for making me wonder ((:
