I found that this story was very original and I liked reading it. Sometimes I found a few grammar mistakes, but even so the book was nice to read. I really hope to read the next books of this series as I would like to see what happens to the 4 main characters.

That was a fun, interesting adventure the teen ghosts take the readers on. I laugh while reading at times. I Know it is not funny to laugh at 4 recently dead teens but they are not very bright before discovering they are dead thinking they are abducted by ghost professors of the academy. Esmee and Alex are great together. Lauren and Charlie would be great together. Perfect pairings. I kind of figured who would end up together but it wasn't much of a romance per say it was more of a horror story more than anything. Even though, it wasn't scary to me. This story will stay with me.it is really good. I like to read more of the series from this author.

Excellent YA ghost series, I would recommend it for anyone who likes the afterlife.
Lauren wakes up in a basement with no doors and a very tiny window and thinks she has been kidnapped. Suddenly out of thin air appears a boy about her age, his name is Alex and he is having trouble standing and controlling his legs. The two of them think they have been drugged, and start looking for hidden panels but find nothing. The third person to appear is Esmee, a poor little rich girl who screams at Lauren and Alex for kidnapping her. Charlie is the last to arrive and he is blue tinged and takes the longest to wake. A door appears and they exit the basement, only to discover they are dead and have been chosen by the Ghost Academy to protect the living and the dead. They have difficulties believing they are dead and Professor Templeton, shows them what their bodies actually look like Lauren has been murdered, stabbed in the stomach, Alex has died in a car accident that mangled his legs, Esmee has purple veins running all over her body, dying from disease, and Charlie dies in the hospital of an overdose(alluded to but not said).
They have a choice to attend the academy or go on to the afterlife.
What they choose and why they are chosen will affect the entire dynamic of the school and the portals that allow the dead to go to the afterlife.

Very original, good book. The characters were all unique and cool, even the whiny and snarky Esmee. I had two problems with it that slowed me down. One, I kept finding grammar mistakes and typos. Two, all the internal questioning! Why are we here? Do we want to stay? I don't know, what do you think? I think yes, what do you think? I THINK all these questions are slowing down the plot and annoying the crap out of me! It happened every other chapter without fail. Other than that, awesome book.

Unusual, light, and fun story.

Well written modern ghost story. Good ghosts, particularly four new ghosts whose characters develop nicely throughout the story. The plot is different and keeps you interested on every page. A very enjoyable book, that makes me want to be a good ghost and continue to help people after I die only with supernatural powers! How cool would that be.

hmmm. Although I was hyped about the premiss of this story I found it a let down and sadly will not continue with this series. It had several key things I look for in a good read, but this story let me down.

Well rounded characters, the plot was easy to follow, fast paced, and pulled me right in!
Warning, do not attempt to read this book unless you are sure you have time to read it from beginning to end!

I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to leave an honest review.

Cool take on ghosts

This is an interesting read in that it takes death and makes it not as scary. I fact for these four teenagers they now have a chance to maybe set things right. Not in their own life but in others.

A very moral story

A bit of drama but mostly a story of recently deceased teenagers from a variety of social circles learning moral lessons together.

A few typos scattered through but still plenty readable

Sad to see it end

This story kind of reminded me of Harry Potter but in ghost form. Definitely a page turner. I was sad to see it end .

Totally a different of story

Four young people show up in a basement, then a door shows up and finally they try to get out of the building only to meet up with walls. Then they meet a Professor, explanations begin, training starts and adventures begin.

Read and enjoy.

Summary:
Many people have wondered if there is anything beyond death. This story takes on the question as the lives, or more accurately deaths, of Lauren, Esmee, Charlie and Alex unfold. As the story begins, the four suddenly appear one by one into a room without knowing where they had been or how they got there. Each of their unique personalities are quickly revealed as their disorientation causes them to react to this confusing situation. They quickly band together to try and figure out what is happening, but in the end what they learn could change everything for them. They were chosen because of each of their unique abilities to attend the Ghost Academy, but in the end it is their choice to accept or more on. This is only the beginning as they start to learn what gifts they have, what they have to prove about themselves, and if they even wish to continue on the path together.

This story was filled to surprises around every corner as the challenges they as a team need to overcome that could threaten the friendships and new lives they are creating. I for one will be waiting to see what will happen in the next installment of the Ghost Academy.

I loved the whole concept of this book, I loved the storyline, the characters (yes even Esmee), and everything about it! This is an original plot, one that I have never read before and loved reading!
Lauren is brilliant, she's definitely going to become a sensational Ghost, she is smart, talented and kind..
Esmee is spoilt, rude yet kinda loveable, she doesn't show it much yet it's clear to see that deep down, she does have a heart!
Alex is a flirt, he has serious Daddy Issues.. You can't help but love the loveable rogue!
Charlie... At the moment I'm not over keen on Charlie, he seems kind and caring, yet weak in some aspects..
I love the secondary characters, they're all so different yet all quite similar I'm the way that they all want to help people who are alive.
I can't wait to read more about their personal and shared journey while being ghosts!
A must read!

The second book in the series has Sunshine and it's quite an ordeal for her. Right off we find out someone wants to kill her. Her father insists on training her in her luiseach powers but it turns out he has his own motives including possibly even killing her.

We also have a lab containing spirits (used for experimenal purposes), a boyfriend that gets played, a broken down school and a girl friend that's willing to help Sunshine out.

Oh, there's also Anna, a ghost girl that Sunshine tries to help pass over to the other side but who, for some reason, doesn't want to go.

It all makes for a very interesting and good addition to the series.

Ghosts that grow on you.

It is a bit of a slow read. I think it has the making of a decent series. Some of the scenes would be hilarious on screen. This is definitely an introductory book as not a whole lot happens, mostly a lot of background development. Just when I think it's going to get interesting, it's over...literally on the last page. The characters have finally morphed into "people" and you start to wonder what will happen next. Several typos throughout, most of them are barely noticeable. Haven't yet decided if I will get the remainder of the series.

Love this book

I got this book free on instabook in return for my honest review. The plot is this book is obsessive. It's non stop action right from the beginning. The character development is extremely well rounded out. As you get to know the characters you feel like their your best friends.
