The Bayquniyyah Poem: An Introduction to the Science of Hadith

Rate this book
This book is taken from a larger forthcoming publication on the science of hadith, and was initially used for a short course held in the blessed month of Ramadan 2015. Due to the interest expressed by a number of students and teachers it was thought beneficial to release this early draft which can be utilised in a classroom setting. This work consists of an abridged translation of Shaykh Hasan al-Mashat’s commentary on the Bayquniyyah poem, interspersed with diagrams created by the translator to facilitate understanding of the concepts covered in the text. In addition, further reading is provided in the appendices which students may find beneficial.

Truthfully read 25 pages, mostly to do with the actual poems as the rest were mainly acknowledgments. I'd say you should read this if you're capable of understanding sometimes difficult language and if you're looking to expand your knowledge on how Hadith are taken from their sources, how to tell if a hadith is sahih (true) or not, etc.

It is a quality poem.

(I rate it 5 stars because it is trustworthy)

Also another read where technically I read a translation by a different translator (Ustadha Umm Salamah). The Ode of Bayquniyyah is rhythmic and concise (even in english). 34 lines covering the terminologies used in Hadith sciences created to help students learn and memorize these terms. Great read & rlly fascinating how poetry was at the forefront in seeking knowledge.
