Noree Cosper loves writing about magic in the modern world. While growing up in Texas she constantly searched for mystical elements in the mundane. She buried her nose in both fiction and books about Wicca, Religion, and Mythology. Everyday became an adventure as she joined a group of role-players, acting out her fantasies of vampires, demons, and monsters living in the world. She embraced her nerdom wholeheartedly. Noree grew, but never left her love for fantasy and horror. Her dreams pushed her and her hand itched to write the visions she saw. So, with her fingers on the keys, she did what her heart had been telling her to do since childhood. She wrote.

I loved it!

This is a story about Cassi: a girl who is just trying to live a life of normalcy, trying to ignore the fate she was born into, and falling for the guy she was warned against.

I enjoyed the way the author presented the story - fast-paced, action-packed, light and enjoyable. The characters had me intrigued and are relatable.

I am excited to read the rest of Cassi's adventures.

I was gifted a copy for an honest review.

(I read this as included in the Secret Worlds anthology.)

Influential media superstar Mercer Chaplin (and noted sexy womanizer) arrives at Cassi’s school to recruit people to join his new on campus software project. Both her and her roommate have signed up to be on the project. Her roommate Serenity is a genius coder, and Cassi is a journalism major and will cover the project for the school paper. Mercer takes a special interest in Cassi and flirts with her relentlessly, to the annoyance of Serenity, who says he’s family who burned her in the past. And then Cassi’s aunt swings into town reminding her of her heritage and duty. She is a Pandoran, one of the descendants of Pandora who opened the box and let all of the evil into the world. As a Pandoran, Cassi is tasked with finding those evil spirits, capturing them, and taking them home with her to be locked away so they won’t be able to continue to plague humanity. As well as evil spirits, she is also tasked with dispatching any gods too, since they are just as evil and harmful as the spirits. And when students attached to the project start committing suicide on campus, Cassi can sense there is an evil spirit hunting them.

Honestly, from the description this sounded like yet another Buffy the Vampire Slayer wannabe. Yet another female paranormal enforcement hunter who solves everything with whatever weapons are on hand. And it was. But it also involves the Greek Gods (not just the Pandora legend), and that is a definite sale point for me. I’m not going to name names, for spoiler sake (but it did involve one of my favorite gods). Personally, this did hew more toward urban than fantasy, so we got a lot of basic relationship drama between the characters, but I never really saw Cassi in any classes, nor did I ever really understand what the software project was about. I usually prefer my books to be more fantasy than urban. There was a lot of action in this, as you would expect in a Buffy the Vampire Slayer type book, fighting against evil forces. And there was a lot of mystery since some of the characters love to keep secrets and the audience has to work out what side people are on, who really was causing the deaths, and what the relationships are, as well as having to change some pre-conceived notions. I loved the chemistry between Cassi and Mercer, the entire way through, though I got irritated at her for continually running, instead of standing her ground and facing things and trying understand. I also got irritated at her for going into dangerous situations without any backup. I know it’s spoilery, but the couple of sex scenes felt rushed. And I loved her friendship with Serenity, though at the beginning I had started to wonder if Serenity was a figment of her imagination since she didn’t seem to really interact with other characters and seemed to only talk to Cassi. I would love to see more books written and turn this into a series with more adventures with Cassi and Mercer (and Serenity). I did love the ending on this story, but there is plenty of room for a return and plenty of potential kinks to face.

(The version I read that was included in the Secret Worlds anthology had plenty of typos that needed to be fixed. We’re talking several per page. I figure it may have been a preliminary copy given to the anthology, so the actual book published was hopefully cleaner).

The Pandora Principle is a story of the Greek Gods, demons, and good vs evil. In it we follow Cassi, who is a Pandorian (a powerful being created to fight against evil with fire) that wants to run from her family's destiny. She wants a normal life, normal friends and a normal career of being a journalist. She succeeded for three years, until her classmates started turning up dead under suspicious circumstances. Cassi has no choice but to accept what she is, to utilize her power and do her duty of protecting the humans from the evil in the world. Namely demons, who trick humans into dying just to take over their bodies so they can devour their souls. Cassi struggles to find the culprits in time.

Pros
*This is a quick, easy-to-follow read that is interesting and fun

*The story is set at a university so while there isn't much world-building, it is still easy to visualize as the story progresses

*There's not that many characters. We don't have to struggle to remember twenty different names and backgrounds and personalities. We have our main four characters and a few background characters that only have scene time when they are important to the plot or character development

*Action. I love the fight scenes, the fact that our MC has a fire power?? So. Cool.

*I like the mythical inclusion, with Gods and a backstory on how Pandorians came to be created to fight them. It was interesting and I wouldn't have minded if we had gotten more information about it.

Cons
*Romance. I found it to be too quick and for no reason? Like, if they had been friends instead, the plot still would have ended the same? I just did not find the romance worth it. Our MC jumped into it at the risk of losing someone close to her, when she didn't even know her love interest well.

*Character development was not really something I noticed much of? The only one who really changed was Cassi, and that was just her accepting she can't fight her destiny.

*I honestly don't feel any connection to the characters. Cassi is kinda selfish in the regard that she completely ignored her best friend's feelings to get with a guy she barely knows. Serenity always seems angry and like she doesn't want to talk to anyone, to the point where it felt like she and Cassi weren't even really friends? And Mercer is just kinda there to create problems? I don't hate or love any of them.

*The ending is kind of disappointing. There was so much build up, so much fighting and losing and struggle. And then the evil is just... Locked up? Taken away? It just seemed to easy of an ending to be honest.

*The editing is not exactly great. There were misspelled words, missing words, extra/duplicated words when not needed, and some odd sentence structures. However, if you can ignore that, it's really not all bad.

Overall this was a fun read and I enjoyed it, but I don't know if it's a series I will continue.

In a human world, Greek gods and demigods are not the only creatures wandering among people. Cassi, the descendant of Pandora, is a witch, whose duty is to hunt the daimons and rogue gods and lock them away with her power. She tries to avoid the Fate and live a normal life, but her true nature eventually finds her, forcing her to stand up for those she loves. When a daimon starts to kill her friends, Cassi can no longer close her eyes from the truth. But, falling in love with god never ends up well…
Charming story with elements of Greek mythology and witchcraft builds an interesting and attractive environment for the story. The plot is full of danger and actions, with many turns and unexpected twists, fast pacing with short chapters and lots of balanced dialogues. Not only the story develops with a steady pace, but the observed changes and developments in characters´ personalities and perceptions add up to the brilliance.
I was torn about Cassi in the beginning, since she really did not represent a heroine I would love. Her actions were impulsive and irrational; she often acted before she thought about it or listened to others´ advices. But eventually she developed into determined fighter for justice and showed us her real qualities.
I loved Serenity as a character, though; talented programmer, distant, ambitious in her own way, struggling with her private life. Given her relationship with Mercer, no one could be much surprised. Mercer, as a main hero, was the pepper of the whole story; his actions often seem to have mysterious motives and his personality being so complex no one could understand the way he thinks.
Overall, I have nothing to reproach. I enjoyed every piece the story, since it was a real page turner and kept me immersed deeply in the happenings until the last sentence. I am truly looking forward to the following books.

Cassi (Cassiopea) was a descendant of Pandora, the one who opened the jar out of curiosity and let out evil). She was at college far from her family and not paying attention to her duty to hunt the evil spirits. She has a new job as a journalist for a special project and good looking Mercer would be her boss and she felt attracted to him. Then, students began to commit suicide and something foul was in the air. Who was behind the deaths? Who was this man really? This story was a complete fantasy where monsters and mythological gods were present. The author presents the theme good versus evil and characters that were denying and rejecting their destiny. It was interesting, easy to read and with different and some strange characters that were funny. Liked how the author used the mythological character’s theme and wrote an interesting and amusing story. I read the story first in Secret Words Boxed set and enjoyed it.

The Pandora Principle is a surprisingly perfect blend of several different genres. I might call it new adult romantic suspense set in an urban fantasy world reminiscent of Percy Jackson...but much more grown up.

For a variety of reasons, I can't write much for fear of giving away surprises you'll enjoy more if you find them out for yourself. Suffice it to say that the characters are well-developed and the perfect level of tough and flawed. The book is so action-packed you'll probably read it straight through, but the author doesn't leave out that critical (for me at least) romantic element.

This is clearly book one of a series, so you shouldn't expect every thread to be tied up by the end. But the current plot is resolved, even if various character-related issues aren't. There is no egregious cliffhanger.

All-told, this is a top-notch book. I highly recommend it!

Becoming jaded, I might be. I wasn't really into this book, not that it is a bad book. I'm quite over the wholesale condemnation of a race though. I'm also over people that set themselves up as protectors of a sort that target a specific race/group without provocation. I understand that the majority of a race/group might be evil but I don't think that without proof of wrongdoing that they should be eradicated. The previous sentiments stem from Cassi wanting to get rid of Mercer/Hermes without proof. It was also stupid of her to completely abandon her former training. There were after all threats that she could have possibly neutralized if she hasn't turned her back on her family legacy. All in all, it wasn't bad but not enough for me to seek out the following books.

This book was given me in exchange for a fair and honest review by Rebecca Hamilton.
One of the better books I've read this year. Continuous action which is both exciting and informative of paranormal life/ beliefs/ theories .
Our heroin has a few problems to sort out to say the least, the biggest being a lustful attraction to a God in human body . Steamy in parts this is a good stand alone / cliffhanger story well told and definitely recommended for reading .

Wow, this was a great read, that once I started reading I had an extremely difficult time putting it down. This was a very entertaining and interesting read that will keep your interest from beginning to end, it has amazing characters that you cannot help but fall in love with and the pace at which it moved was just perfect for reading. This book needs to be on your list of books to read, you will not be sorry.

A great weaving of modern storytelling and ancient lore. And also, HOT. But this isn't your mama's bodice-ripper. There's no purple prose--just a zap to your naughty bits. Which is how it should be.

But the romance is really only a small part of a much bigger picture. But saying anymore would spoil it. You'll have to see for yourself. ^_^

I loved the premise and most everything in the book. There were some typos that drove me crazy. I should say that it was in a Kindle anthology and that may have something to do with it.

I thought there were a few non sequiturs, early in the novel, but once it got rolling, it smoothed out and became a fun read.

Cliffhanger, though. Dammit!

Seeing all the good reviews on this book, I was excited to read it. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a letdown. Normally, I love books with gods in it. This one just didn't interest me as much as I expected it to. It wasn't horrible. It was an ok story. It just doesn't draw the reader in. The characters are more one dimensional which doesn't really make the reader like them much. I couldn't connect with the MC and really didn't care for her much. Overall, it wasn't horrible but it was definitely lacking something.

Great

I was not expecting it to be so good. Aside from a few moments when she was annoying, I really liked Cassie. Serenity was great too. I wish there was a little more work-building, I was confused about some things (like how she actually gets rid of the daimons). The romance was a bit too accelerated, but not drastically so. I really liked how she addressed the fact that during a war/conflict/battle is not the time to begin a new romance. But overall I really enjoyed it.

Loved! A highly enjoyable blend of mythology in modern times. I really enjoyed the story and how it flowed. It was fast-paced, action packed and just fun.
The character were entertaining and lifelike. I liked the twists and turns and of course the rich mythology.
I look forward to seeing where the story and characters go from here.

A good read!

An interesting variation of the Pandora's box myth come to life. I thought the characters were well rounded but still had some mystery for further development. The plot kept me hooked and reading well past my bedtime! I can't wait for the next one to come out.

Cassie has left her heritage behind to try and live a normal life. She has spent the last three years at college sharing a room with her best friend Serenity. There is an exciting new project starting for their school but the man running it has a reputation as a ladies man..Serenity tries to warn Cassie to stay away from him, but she is drawn to him. A family member comes to drag Cassie back home to take up her duties. When tragedy strikes all around the school it's obvious she needs to find the being responsible. Is it a demon or a God.? Is she strong enough to beat it?.
A bit of a slow start, but exciting further in. A little bit of hot sex, but not what I would call romance. A good new adult read.

Wow this was good! Even though it started out a little slow, and I didn't much like the lead characters, especially Mercer, I ended up really enjoying it and totally in love with "Mercer". Damn he was also really sexy and Cassi and Mercer's scenes together were so hot!
And when we discovered who and what Serenity was...wow I didn't see that one coming!
I also liked Cassi, although not much in the beginning. But she turned into the kickass heroine she should have been from the start. And the way she beat up Marcus like he was a punching bag? Epic!
Now I can't wait to read book 2 but I have to wait next year for it to come out... Are you freaking kidding me?!?! Sigh..

Cassi is a student at a college and part of a Virtual Reality project as a writer. Her roommate will be coding but she wasn't aware that Mercer Chaplin was running this project. Serenity doesn't like Mercer Chaplin. Wait until you find out who he really is. Bad enough that Cassi is a descendant of Pandora. She is the person who got nosy and opened the jar which allowed a bunch of evil spirits to spread over the Earth. She just wants to get her degree. She was promised time away from home before she had to start getting rid of the evil spirits. Will she be able to finish writing about the project before her family requires her to come home?

I read this book as part of the Secret Worlds box set. In fact, this book was the sole reason I purchased the box set. I loved author Noree Cosper's A Prescription for Delirium, so was eager to read The Pandora Principle. As usual, Cosper builds a both fantastic and believable world based on lore and reality. The characters were super realistic, dealing with very real NA issues (college, balancing romance with family, that kind of stuff). I liked the love story and really adored Serenity, as well as Cassi's aunt. I'm eagerly awaiting the sequels to this book!

This was a really interesting story but bad editing made reading it barely tolerable. It had lots of misspelled words, bad sentence structure, missing words, and sentences that simply didn't make sense. It simply didn't flow well, and I found myself having to go back and re-read parts of it over and over to figure out what was going on.

Because of this, I'm not sure if I'll try to read anything else by this author. Hopefully future books will be edited better!

The Pandora Principle by Noree Cosper, included in the Secret Worlds Boxed Set is a well written book. The characters were fully developed and likeable. The story line was well thought out. I didn't want this story to end. This was my first book by Noree Cosper but it definitely won't be my last.

loved the Greek mythology theme of the book with romance, mystery and suspense. Cassi falls for the Greek god Hermes which she didn't realize until later, but her family would never allow them to be together. I can't wait until the next book in the series to see what happens next to Cassi and Hermes.
