There’s a drug lord corrupting the youth of sleepy Wilton, Indiana — and he’ll get rid of anyone who stands in his way, including an innocent witness. Even a drug-sniffing dog.

When Sam McNamee decided to chuck her dreams of living in the Florida Keys and instead settled in rural Indiana to raise her daughter and look after her aging father, she didn’t expect to be caught up in the middle of a drug ring investigation. But someone has it out for her. Or to be more precise, her dog, Bump. And they’ll stop at nothing to run her out of town — including framing her daughter.

All Sam wants is to give her relationship with veterinarian Clint Chastain a chance. But matters get complicated when Clint’s ex — sexy humanitarian Dr. Danielle Townsley — invades Sam’s territory. Clint keeps reassuring Sam that she’s the one he wants, but his actions leave room for doubt. Meanwhile, firefighter Archer Malone is the one constant in Sam’s roller coaster life. And he’s looking better all the time.

Then, Bump disappears — and the one person who could help her find him is the same one she’s trying to avoid.

Drug trafficing is running amuck in the sleepy town of Wilton, Indiana and it seems everyone in the community has been drawn into this deadly web of deceit and mystery. Sam has been snooping for information that will eliminate this hazard from her daughter's school. However, her efforts to uncover evidence has not gone unnoticed by the drug dealers. In this episode, Sam, Tara, and Bump pay for Sam's curiosity while some mysteries are cleared up and more sinister dangers are yet to be revealed. Don't miss this exciting and fast-paced drama. Good Read!!!!!

Decent read

I like the interaction of the characters, especially bump, but there's something about the plot that is disjointed. The part where most of the action is dine was okay, but Sam should have been more concerned for Bump than she appeared. She was desperate for his safety, but didn't demand to see him freed immediately. Get him safe and then deal with human issues. I'm hoping that Sam gets her ducks in a row and her priorities straight. On to the next.

7 in a row, and still reading!

The first 5 the Faderville series. Wonderful!!
The let down when I finished was sad. So I started
Sam and Bump. Equally great. I haven't enjoyed this
many books in a row ever. One more to go, then I
guess I will start on historical fiction!! Love this author!! Recommended !!!!

Lies

This was the best of her books. I can't believe how good it was. And I can't believe there is no other one to read. I wanted to read another one but I guess I'll have to wait.

Likeable Characters, Entertaining Story

What an entertaining story. Sam is funny, intelligent and accident prone. I'd like to be her BFF, she is sincere and very likeable. This is book 2 in the series. I'll be checking for book 3 when I finish this review.

Lots of action

I love Bump! And that Sam, who seems to always be in some kind of trouble. This is an excellent writer, who definitely knows how to keep your attention. Good plot, well written. I look forward to more of her books.

Where to start? I generally love books about dogs and that is why I read this one - even though I was not particularly pleased with the prior book in this series. The protagonist (Sam) is the biggest klutz I have ever encountered. That is supposed to make her - I think - endearing. NOT. It just makes her annoying. So this book starts off with one of her klutzy moves and I was so irritated that I almost did not continue reading. Enough! Next, the protagonist also is completely clueless and totally unobservant of her surroundings. I had figured out the "villain" of the piece early on as well as the status of the dog in the book. The signs are all there if you read them. The dog is a lot smarter than Sam. Like the previous book, Sam manages to get knocked unconscious several times in this one. At this rate, she ought to have scrambled eggs for brains. On second thought, that must be why she is so brainless and goes haring off to do stupid things. Think old horror movies where the witless heroine hears a strange noise and goes into a dark hallway, stairwell, room to investigate. We all know what comes next. Same here. Except for the dog, you should just skip this one.

Nice story with characters I really liked. It kept me guessing until the end.

I'm not a huge fan of stories told in the first person. N. Gemini Sasson does it well enough that I don't feel like I'm missing something. Sam is likeable and easy to identify with. She's a single mother trying to keep her teenage daughter safe and happy and away from drugs. While this book is about finding a drug gang it doesn't focus on drugs. In the end they do find one of the main dealers but it's not all about violence and flashy chase scenes or shootouts. The focus is on the human aspect of things.

Young woman and adventures on her return to hometown

This is easy to read book, without much depth. Story is ok. Mom and daughter return to mom's hometown to help her dad get things in order after death of her mom. She hits a dog and takes it in out of carding. The life in small town Indiana is a big change for mom and daughter, who lived in Chicago. The two make friends and settle in. Then odd things happen at their new house. Sam gets into danger, and even the dog, Bump, is involved. Light, comedic, and teaching a life lesson.

Sex, but not the play by play kind, know what I mean? Just some good, humorous, chase the bad guy sort of book that I like.

I really like this author.

The first book of hers I read, Say Something, touched my heart. I had to read more and I'm glad I did. On to the next book of hers.

I like this book and hope this series will have more in it. I think this series would appeal to quite a few people.

I think this series will appeal to quite a few people. The main female character (Sam) and her daughter (Tara) have plans to move from Chicago to Florida. On their way, they stop in Sam's home town to help her father clean out his house and downsize. Not to recount the entire first book, but a little will help. As Sam approaches the house she grew up in, she accidentally hit a dog with her car. Tara, Sam's 14-year-old daughter, insists she stop to see what happened; because it was raining buckets Sam was reluctant to get out as she thought she hit a small wild animal that would be gone by then. Little did either of them know how much, Bump (so named because he was "bumped" by their car), would alter their future plans and completely change their lives.

One evening, while Sam is walking Bump, he has a strange reaction to a field near where they're staying after a major fire. When a friend stops by, they go investigate and find a field of mature marijuana plants! As they leave they are shot at! When the sheriff's crew arrives they find it was harvested during the night.

As Sam's father moves forward, Sam tries very hard to build a new home in her hometown for herself and Tara, it becomes clear, however, the knowledge they have about the marijuana is not going to be forgotten! And what is this strange sort of psychic link she seems to have with Bump -- will it help them get out of danger like it did before?

Wonderful

Great characters. Sam may be clumsy and awkward, physically and socially, but she's also kind and loving and has lots of courage and determination. A real hero.

A great follow up to the first book which answers some of the questions that you were left with at the end of book 1. I loved that some of my thoughts or ideas, while I was reading, turned out to be correct. But the story still kept me second guessing until the end, which makes a story very intriguing. There are definitely messages in this story like the devotion of a dog to its people. Bump is the perfect example of what happens when a dog is given a second chance in a new home. I’ll let you find the others because it might just give away too much.

If you like a good mystery, even though it may not seem like a mystery, and a story about dogs, this is the book for you. It is easy to follow and fun to read.

This is a gotta read

Assassin's first book in this group was good, but this one is far better. Her characters fill out, the background becomes more real, and many of the loose ends get woven into place. Better yet, new loose ends are created! That means more Bump and the rest of the gang!
