Harmony Raines is a very good writer and author. I love her books and I follow all her series. She knows how to tell an AWESOME love story and how to put star crossed lovers together regardless of the circumstances. Not to mention she isn't scared of trying something new, as in different shifters. The "Secret Bear" had several surprises in it, but it had surprise in that really tipped the scale and set a whole new bar in her writing. This is the second book in her Biker Bear series. I loved how she brought in characters from the a couple of the other books. The characters all work so well together. This is a must read book if you are 18 or older because of the wild sex!!!
Ion is in a part of town that has started to become a rough neighborhood, but he had to get his boots fixed and the shoe repair shop he likes to use is in that neighborhood. He is on his way back to get his motorcycle when his chest starts to hurt. At first he thinks he has been stabbed. Realizing that he wasn't stabbed and thinking it is heart attack he goes into a shady bar to get help. Then when he sees this red head at the bar, he realizes that he has finally found his mate. But something isn't right and she looks as if she needs help. Once he realizes she is being auctioned off he has to bid on her, doesn't he? He can't let anything come between him and his mate.
Etta is a undercover cop who is trying to set up a sting on the rich men treating women wrong. She isn't even going to let the guy in leather bidding on her stop her from arresting all the men at the auction. She isn't even going to believe "Leathers" when he says she was trying to save her. She believes that she is capable of looking after herself. She is a cop after all. When danger threatens her, she is suddenly thrown into a world she isn't even sure exists. She knows that "Leathers" is keeping secrets and she is going to find out what they are.
This is Harmony Raines at her best. Read the book and you will travel be glad you did.

Fast and exciting read...
With a lot of character development added in. This story is a bit more emotionally charged than other stories I have read by Harmony Raines. There is a lot of action, too. It is a shorter story and a fun read. The steamy parts don't show up until near the end, but that makes sense with the basic plot of the story. Ion is a cool character, and Etta is very much his match.
If you like super fast paced shifter stories, with an intense tone, action and character oriented storyline, vivid characters and a good amount of emotion, then this is the story for you. Just make sure you read book 1 first, a This is book 2. It might help to read the Bear Bluff series of Return to Bear Bluff, or Bear Creek or Return to Bear Creek also, but it's not absolutely necessary. I can't remember which series Will and Freyja's story was in! Anyways, all of these are good reads. Enjoy!

I enjoyed this book. Man, their relationship started off on the wrong foot, thanks to Ion trying to buy his mate, Etta to save her when he stumbled across the auction when he scented his true mate and followed it into a bar and went into the basement and found Etta on the auction block and just wanted to save her so he bid on her to stall to while he works out a plan to save her but she ended up arresting him since she was working as an undercover cop to try and break up the auction. I thought Etta and Ion were great together and I thought Etta was completely bada*se especially how she deals with her work partner Pete. I’d recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

I received this book in part of a box set with different Authors in it. I have to say, if you have not read any of Harmony Raines books, you are missing out on the wonderful characters that are within. This one has other characters from other books in it, so you may want to read the other series that came fore this one to know who you are reading about. Ion gets himself into a bit of an issue when he smells his mate inside of a shady looking bar. Will things work out for him, or will they continue roll downhill? Must read :-)

Etta is not very level headed for a cop. She makes assumptions and throws accusations out with no evidence.
Ion was knocked silly by the mate bond and acted rashly but what else was he supposed to do when believing his mate was being auctioned off.
Not a reread for me as Etta must be the most illogical, prejudiced and suspicious cop ever. No wonder police have a bad reputation if they jump to conclusions as rapidly as she did.
Her sob story about her sister didn’t change my mind.
Even though she was slow on the uptake, I liked how she handled Pete.

We don't really learn much about Ion except his bone deep integrity, love of motorbikes, is a bear shifter, and his commitment to his mate. Etta on the other hand has a painful past that convinced her to go into law enforcement to protect women placed in impossible situations. The other new thing is that there are snake shifters! Another great afternoon read courtesy of Harmony Raines!

Not a dull moment. I felt like I could reach in and smack Etta on the head, but it took something worse to make her see the truth. Ion is such a strong character. He only wants to protect his true love but she has other things in mind.
I love be the Bear Creek and Bear Bluff series. I highly recommend this book.

A cop and a Bear with a secret
Etta and Ion are mates who meet in a compromised situation. They have to navigate the challenges of their situation to be together. It takes a lot of hard work and compromise. At first I didn't think I wanted to read this book but I am glad I did I enjoyed it.

The Bear and The Detective
Ion knew his mate would be a strong woman but he got more than he bargained for with his feisty head strong smart detective. Etta knew Ion was just another scuba willing to buy women into slavery after he agreed to buy her at an auction she was undercover in. But things weren't adding up , bears, snakes, creepy old man, and a selfish person who wanted her for themselves created a dilemma. Who could trust? Ion, the man who so happened saved her twice, especially since he was friends with the rich ? Too much to take in but I guarantee you will be spellbound and won't put the book down until you finish.

This story had an interesting plot: a bear shifter senses his mate as he walks by a bar, he goes in and sees that she is being sold in an auction, he tries to help, and ends up arrested for his trouble. His mate is one of the police officers. So how does he get out of this mess? You'll just have to read it to find out.

I could bearly wait for Etta to understand Ion.
Great story with a lot of twists and turns. Etta is probably the strongest female in Ms. Raine's Bear Shifter Series. I could actually feel her anger and her disbelief in Ion's story.

Got this book in a box set and will totally be reading the rest of the series when I get the chance! Loved the twist,turns and even the different Shifter type she added into the story line
