In the 60 years since Roman Holiday transformed the ex-ballerina into a superstar, Audrey Hepburn has inspired the kind of mass adoration usually reserved for deities. If anything, the cult of Hepburn has grown exponentially since her death in 1993. She is probably Hollywood s most beloved star, revered for her humanitarian work as well has her film career and innate style. By all accounts modest and self-effacing, Hepburn never bought into her own myth.
Based in Los Angeles, Timothy Knight is a nonfiction writer and editor who has written extensively on business, film history, popular culture and sports. He has also written the scripts for several documentaries based on various books from some of America’s top publishers, including The Overlook Press and Triumph Books.
From 2003 to 2007, Timothy served as the primary film critic for the website reel.com. He holds a master's degree in critical studies from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.
When his face is not buried in a book, Timothy can usually be found writing one of his own. Among the many books he has authored are Great Kisses...and Famous Lines Right Out of the Movies (HarperCollins, 2008), Audrey Hepburn in the Movies (Metro Books, 2009), and Sinatra: Hollywood His Way (Running Press, 2010).
"How do I look?" That's what Audrey was saying when they took the cover photo, from Breakfast at Tiffany's. She always looked beautiful, and Timothy Knight is clearly as big a fan of hers as I am. This is the first real filmography of Audrey Hepburn, who despite her lasting fame and following, made only 27 movies in her entire career. Knight loved her in all of them, although he does include the rare bad reviews she got in one or two box-office flops. The book is little (with small print!), but it has a great deal of information. It also has several typos, which I find annoying, but this one made me laugh: "How The West Was ONE." Overall, good format, great photos and a glowing retrospective of the films of one of my very favorite actresses.
