While I liked the first, and went on to like others in the series very much, I had a BIG problem with the hypocrisy and double standard in this one. I was actually looking forward to the sassy Breezy character we meet in the first book and to discovering some depth to the broody second in command but alas, I was doomed to be disappointed.
Honestly, if the plot and writing stood without the stuff that made me cringe, it would have been a pretty strong tale. However, the crippling effect that is Xan's completely uncalled for treatment of Breezy based on his assumptions about her character/experience when he was a total manwhore, stuck out to me more than anything else. My hopes were dashed with this one but I did continue reading the series. Safety: No to rape. Yes to abuse.

This had so much potential! I loved the whole shifter/mate insta-romance thing it had going on but it fell flat for me when the H, Xan judges the h, Breezy because of the clothes she wears. He thinks she's too easy and assumes (the jackass) that because she walks and talks and dresses the way she does she's an easy lay. This coming from a guy that has a different chick every night!?! What a steaming pile of double standards shite!
Turns out Breezy is actually a virgin (and I lost all respect for her when she admits she became the type of girl Xan was always banging because she wanted him) and has been in love with this manwhore for years!
So H is okay getting laid by a different chick every time but he wants a pure girl as his mate so of course easy skanky Breezy is not the one. (Duh)
When he finally did settle down, he didn’t want one who’d been around the block like the town bicycle.
What a hypocrite!! FYI he admits he has never actually seen Breezy date anyone but again since she shows a lot of skin and is pretty she must be getting around right? *eye roll*
Then we find out that Xan has known Breezy was the one but wasnt ready to settle down! So he pushed her away and judged her unfairly AND slept around with anyone who caught his eye! Nope this guy was not redeemable IMO
He’d fought the knowledge, thinking he could fuck his way through a dozen or more women and his wolf would forget the one meant to be his. The pain he’d caused her tasted like ash in his mouth. Honesty made him acknowledge he’d known for over a year.
Sorry but this crap just doesnt fly with me. Especially in a romance. There is nothing romantic about a guy always chasing other women and pushing away his h for selfish and stupid reasons. The fact that Breezy sees and has even walked in on him with OW was a huge turn off and even though by the end Xan was 100% committed to Breeze I could NOT buy into their HEA.
Afterall if Xan hadn't decided he was ready to settle down Breezy would still be drooling over him while he banged his way through all the she-wolfs in the pack. Its kinda disgusting and all I remember about this read is the douche H and the sad h who deserved better.
The snippets we get of Kellen (the alpha and Xan's fellow manwhore) with his mate Laikan seems like another asshat who treats his h badly while screwing everyone but her. Needless to say I'll be dropping this series hard! This was an impulse buy when the first two books were on sale. Sucks this one was so bad because the first was good if a little short. This one was a lengthy read and worth the price but the content was just bad!

Authors, you are women too. Could you please stop the slut-shaming and double standards? I don't need that when I'm reading a romance. I need fun, not a reminder of how far we still need to go before society accepts women's sexuality as something normal and not a taboo.
I found this comments on Erika's status and I agree wholeheartedly (although I love virgin heroines in books, just not when used as an excuse to slutshaming and double standards)
...to compound it with the hero talking about how he wanted someone pure to mate. What an absolute sicko! He should be matched with a mate who has multiple STDs which she passes on to him.

I finished Xan's Feisty Mate today and I have to say that I'm sad. Sad that this amazing story is over and that I'll have to wait for the next installment. Boon just keeps upping the ante with this series, and that's saying something because I was seriously impressed with the stage she set in Lyric's Accidental Mate.
Xan's Feisty Mate contained moments of revelations (a BIG one), sweetness (who knew a moody alpha could be so sweet!), sacrifice (Breezy...that GIRL!!!), and sexiness (in spades!!). Oh...and a villain you will hate to distraction! All of these things just worked exceptionally well to create a story that kept me captivated from beginning to end.
There were some curve balls thrown in that provided a nice setup for future books such the sizzling chemistry between Kellen and Laikyn and the burgeoning "something" between Shaw and Cheyenne. I cannot wait!!!

What can I say...
Elle Boon, Bless Your Heart, I love you soooo very f***ing hard!
This is the story of Xan and Breezy and what a sizzling hot story it is But then I have come to expect NO LESS from this author.
Well written it flowed with exceptional ease, it read like it was on fast forward, so it was read in one sitting, over a coffee this morning!.
The characters are strong, alpha males who protect that which are their own..
Their woman are just as strong, although they show the alpha and their mates the respect deserved in times of trouble (sometimes).
I loved the twist to the traditional bad 'boy' alpha werewolf who was the enemy, wicked shite.
If I have a complaint its the fact that I now have to wait for the next book in the series, but it will, as usual, be worth the wait.
Highly recommended to all over 18 who like an action packed, violent, sexually charged read!!

breezy is a busy nurse. on her way home she gets attacked. thankfully she isn't just human, she's a wolf too. though beaten up she manages to escape her attacker, make it to her car and call in with the pack of what happened. she's told to come to the clubhouse and she knows things won't get easier.
when xan receives news that breezy had been attacked, it was the last drop his wolf and himself needed to stop beating around the bush and accept that breezy was their mate. enranged and in need to calm down xan steps into the ring to fight.
when he sees breezy, bruises and all, the fight is over quickly. making his way over, his wolf is frenzied that she's hurt. intent on not letting her out of his sight, he offers to bring her home but breezy is stubborn.
for years she's longed for him, dressed differently but not once did he gave a sign he wanted her, even worse, he flaunted woman after woman right in front of her. can't blame her to not really trust his intentions. as xan starts an argument with a packmember about who and how she gets home, breezy grabs the change to sneak out and drive home herself. only she hasn't been on the road for five minutes when she sees a big SUV following her. she calls back to the clubhouse, xan answering right away, the background sounds making it clear he's already on the road as the call is forwarded to his cell. she manages to fill him in of her whereabouts and what is going one before she rammed and driven of the road.
xan barely makes it in time, leaping from his speeding bike, killing three of the four attackers before he manages to get breezy to safety.
two times she's been targeted now and it put things in motion, something more is happening and it isn't just the rogue wolves they culled weeks ago, something more is going on.
xan is done pretending and in his own way comes clean with breezy and his need to fulfill their mating bond. she's reluctant to belief his words but he's persistent and she dares hope her deepest desire might come true, xan choosing her to be his.
as the couple goes forward, the rest of the pack gathers to talk things through. rowan's phantom team is called in and they mean business.
when they're all catching up on things, everything goes wrong again. another attempt on breezy has them all on high alert. luckily this time they managed to capture the one responsible for the kidnapping. with as little as they know they do their best to find out what is happening, why they want breezy and only her.
things don't go easy from there on out and the past catches up on them all!
what thrilling ride this book is!! loved xan! loved the phantom team (secretly hoping they may get their own series, bad ass man meeting bad ass women!! hell yeah)
loved the little innuendo's and hints through the book. hoping for certain matches, one sooner or later then the other, so crossing fingers and toes for them. loved the reality with how the book is written, the bad ass nature of them all, yet the need to take care and protect prevailing where needed. liked book one, loved book two, wondering how i can surpass book three because i see epic battle up ahead!

This book is the second in the Iron Wolves Mc series and it is truly an amazing read. Elle boon has once again brought us a fantastic story. Breezy is just brilliant and Xan oh so hot and sexy...I loved how they came together and faced the dangers around them.....thank you for this amazing book Elle

Brilliantly written the tale grabs and holds you attention for the whole book, I read it in one sitting and am now awaiting the next in the series - you rock Elle Boon - ARC copy

I received an ARC copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. It is the first Elle Boon book I've read and it definitely left me wanting to read more of her work. If you read Elle's bio on Amazon or the end of Xan's Feisty Mate, Iron Wolves MC 2 (and I would hazard a guess pretty much any bio you'll find), you learn that she is a fan of dropping the f-bomb quite liberally. This is absolutely the truth. If you are uncomfortable with swearing, this is not the book for you.
The book has some steamy sex (though there were parts of the sex that just wouldn't happen; for example, if his penis is larger than that of a porn star [per Breezy's description] and she's a virgin, it is not normal for her to feel no pain and enjoy every moment of it and have an amazing orgasm her first time, just saying). Regardless, the sex was hot. It is entirely vaginal and oral sex (no anal, though it is talked about on several occasions). So, if you're like me and anal isn't exactly your thing, you are definitely in the clear with this book!
The characters in this book were rich and dynamic. There is a tight bond between the members of the pack; you mess with one, you have to answer to all. That type of unity and support among a group is always great to see. All of the characters were so vibrant with very distinct personalities. The characters of this book are mostly strong headed individuals, so they don't always see eye to eye, but my oh my are the fireworks fun to watch if they butt heads!
Xan is a complete Alpha male (despite being Beta) and overall badass. He's known to be a jerk and obviously has been to Breezy in the past. But he will die to protect those he loves and that are under his protection. His emotions are fierce - including his love for Breezy. Breezy has a troubled past and a take-no-sh*t attitude. She's a strong woman, but not impervious. She still has her fears, but she pushes them aside and stays strong for others. Together, they make a dynamo couple. They love each other "so hard".
Overall, this was an excellent book. As I stated at the beginning, this book definitely makes me want to read more of Boon's work. (Before I even finished this book I purchased Bite of the Moon, which includes the first book in this series, Lyric's Accidental Mate.) While occasionally sentences aren't entirely grammatically correct, she makes up for it with an exciting story line that's sure to have you hook. The book ends with a HEA ending and no cliffhanger. It could be read as a stand-alone if desired, but I'm warning you now, it will leave you wanting to know what happens next with several of the other characters. Enjoy the book and watching the sparks fly!

Gritty, Sexy story of survival and pack dynamics
We meet Breezy as she is leaving work at the ER and is attacked in the parking garage. Fortunately by calling on her wolf she is able to escape and places a call to the Alpha Kellen who has her come to the Iron Wolves MC. Xan, pack beta, is in the fight cage blowing off steam, but becomes quickly aware of her when Breezy arrives. He has a mistaken, poor impression of her but is always drawn to her nonetheless, and tells her he will accompany her home. Tired of his poor treatment and opinion of her Breezy takes advantage of Xan’s distraction and leaves without him. On the way home four men in two cars try to capture her. Fortunately by calling on her wolf she is able to escape and places a call to the Alpha Kellen who has her come to the Iron Wolves MC. Xan, pack beta, is in the fight cage blowing off steam, but becomes quickly aware of her when Breezy arrives. He has a mistaken, poor impression of her but is always drawn to her nonetheless, and tells her he will accompany her home. Tired of his poor treatment and opinion of her Breezy takes advantage of Xan’s distraction and leaves without him. On the way home four men in two cars try to capture her. Holy crap this is one sexy ride. This is a paranormal MC romance that will knock your soxs off.
Xan is second in command of his MC as well as his pack and he has been resisting the mating pull for over a year. But when his mate is put into danger he will stop at nothing to protect and have her for himself. Xan is a real sweetheart who has a nasty mouth and brain. But when he starts to sweet talk his mate man did I give a mighty sigh in envy.
Breezy is Xans mate and has finally decided to give up on him when she is almost kidnapped. Now having him at her beck and call puts a real twist into her plans of moving on from him. Breezy is a strong willed wolf who had a terrible life growing up with a sadistic mother. As such she is willing to fight to protect herself as well as those she cares about.
I really enjoyed this book and it is definitely not one you will want to miss.
This is erotica to the extreme and not for those who don't like some major kick when it comes to their books.
A really great read from an exceptional author.

I definitely felt this story was fleshed out better than book one. I loved that there was constant action going on. I love the whole wolf pack cast of characters, so dang moody and funny.
Xan has been avoiding his true mate for ages, and off being a man whore- breaking Breezy's heart time and time again. He has a misguided view of her character.
Breezy has stood by, having her heart ache for a 'douche bag' of a mate, not understanding why he doesn't want to claim they are mates. She tried all she could to be noticed by him in the way she dresses and acts. Though she's smarter than she lets on. Little does she know, her actions were her downfall.
Not until something happens to her does Xan, and his wolf, sit up and take notice- or more notice than ever. He finally decides to quit being an asshat and claim what's his.
My only issues in this book would be how one minute he's a jerkface, than bam instant 'me Tarzan, you Jane. Mine- no one can have you.' I would have liked the longing and her pushing him away this time to have played more into the story.

Xan's idea's about Breezy couldn't be more wrong and only figures that out when her life comes in danger. Then he admits she is his mate. Breezy works in the ER and after a long day she bows out of going out with co workers only to be attacked in the parking garage. She fights like Xan used to tell her. After she gets attacked she calls the clubhouse and is ordered to come there by the alpha, Kellen. Now the must figure out this puzzle before Xan loses his cool. What wil he think when he learns her secrets. This is a very well rounded book, as the intrigue and storyline unfolds, I found that Elle pays a great attention to detail no matter which part of the storyline she is writing. I was very impressed because I felt like I could close my eyes and picture the story in my mind. I will give you no spoiler on this one at all this is a must read and very well rounded written book.

If your looking for a common place shifter romance, this is not for you. However if you are looking for a spicy, action packed read, with a smart and sassy heroine (knows when to fight, and when to leave that for her mate, seriously, she has brains and a strong sense of who she is) this read is for you. If you like your hero's, hot, strong enough to admit when they were wrong (by ignoring their mate), and possessive, this book is for you. Started this, then read while making dinner, then eating dinner, then when I should have been sleeping. Awesome read! Note: does function as a stand alone with a HEA for our couple, but features ongoing characters, so just read them all!

OMG This was fantastic, what an adventure Elle took us on. Five plus plus.

I absolutely loved Breezy & Xan! Xan is one hot, sexy Alpha wolf who takes no crap....especially not in the bedroom .(wink wink) Breezy...poor poor Breezy has been mistreated and abused by her own mother for years as a small child. It broke my heart hearing what she went through but it only made her stronger♡ so happy the fates chose Xan for this feisty vixen! I love reading a book where the bad guy or woman gets what they truly deserve in the end and Breezy ' s momma definitely deserved her dose of karma. Grab this book and fall in love with Elle Boon's Mystic Wolves, I know I did. Can't wait to see what's next elle, love you so hard lady!!!!!!

I love a good shifter series and this one hit all the notes. Breezy was definitely not what she appeared to be in the first book. She was sweet and feisty and just perfect for Xander.
The antagonist of the piece was batshit crazy and a most delicious and intriguing conundrum. I loved this storyline.

He's known Brielyn 'Breezy' Mattice is his mate for a year but never acted on it until she's attacked one night after finishing her shift as a nurse, then he's all over her. He even believes she's a whore but can put that aside, (until he kills all her ex lovers!!!???), because he loves her and wants to protect her. Double standards or what? He's a total manwhore!!!
Anyway she's got some kind of stalker wanting to kidnap her and a psycho estranged mom who used to beat her as a child. All of this is kinda in the background because the sex takes front and center. I'm all for bumping uglies but Jesus it went on for pages and pages, and then some more pages and pages after that too. Totally boring!
And as for the title Xan's 'Feisty' Mate? She was mouthy and vulgar...and a nymphomaniac a few chapters in. And I certainly wasn't feeling any love. No spark or connection...just sex!

I like it but the beginning and main two characters annoyed me.
Book 1 is/was a free read. The first book was great, I loved it.
An honest mating between Lyric and Rowan, so I bought this book wanting/expecting the same with a continuation of the packs stories.
2 stars only due to the background story being very good.
Hero is horrible and heroine lacks self-respect. Xan is a complete horror to Breezy and Breezy was too easy and accepting.
I like the background story but the beginning annoyed me and I never connected with these two idiots. Him because Xan was a major asshat, male-whore, hypocritical double standard prick.
Breezy was just too insipid. No backbone or respect for herself.
In this book we have Xander, the second in command, who has been screwing everything in his path, even in front of Breezy, even though he knew Breezy was his mate for the last year.
Apparently Breezy was not good enough to be Xan's mate as she was, in his words “he didn’t want one who’d been around the block like the town bicycle”. Double standards anyone. What a douch nozzle.
Breezy had stupidly dressed and acted as she thought Xan wanted his women. Why woman change themselves for men I have no idea. If the real you is not good enough, a fake you will be worse.
After Breezy is attacked, Xan decides to accept her no matter how many men she has been with.
Turns out Breezy was still a virgin at 27. Well that's great then, we can be mates and I am the only male you will ever be with. Complete 180 turn by Xan.
Worst of all Breezy just says, well, as long as I'm not a notch on your post, lets mate. Didn't even make him work for it.
Breezy could have done so much better.
Whilst I like the background story going on and all the other characters are great and I want to read their stories, I do really hate this double standard crap.
Now all this is very early in the story and I nearly returned the book but thought, nope, I will read till the end. Glad I did.
After all the insta mating, we then have all the real action of Breezy being under attack, which is a good story and by someone rather different. Great twist.
A good well written read apart from my moans above.
I am unsure whether to get book three as Kellen the Alpha/Leader is treating Laikyn the same way, the I know what is best for you, like women do not know their own minds. Especially as I see it is three times the price of this book.

Book was ok. The story was ok but seemed more of an excuse for a break between sex scenes. Also it was pretty poorly plotted given that they were flat out told three times who the villain was yet still couldn't figure out who the villain was! Very anti-climatic ending to the crisis. I wanted to like these characters but they are very two dimensional...not a lot of character development here. Really poor editing as well. Overall just not a really well written work.

Well, how to rate this one?? That was a problem for me. I read books like this one to pass the time and I usually don't expect much from them. They are predictable and easy. This one is exactly like that. The topic of a virginal heroine and a manwhore hero aren't my favourite but I accept them as part of this specific genre. However, what did piss me off in this particular book was the fact that the main male hero kept referring to the herione as a whore, a slut that's been around the blok. He doesn't now that she's a virgin and only has rumors to go on. He himself fucks any woman willing when he has the urge. Why is her sexual experience taken as something dirty and shameful, and his is manly and cool? I just couldn't get past that. I gave the book two stars.
